Thank you for this. I have this same maker and planned to clean it tomorrow. I wanted to make sure to do it correctly, and your directions were easy and clear.
Awesome video! Directions were very clear and not too much chatter. Lol!
Thank you!!! This was very helpful. I couldn’t figure out why it keeps saying clean after I thought I cleaned it… But the descaling and leaving the vinegar sit there was the key ingredient I was missing.❤
Glad it helped!
OMG THANK YOU. Ours is the updated model with metal carafe. Its TWO MONTHS OLD and this fixed it right up! We went from NOTHING BREWING AT ALL to great tasting hot coffee again! 💗💗💗
Great to hear!
I was so stressed thinking my machine was broken and so happy I found this. This process really works.
Glad it helped!
Thanks for this video! I never realized how slow the brewing was until I watched this video and seen how fast yours brews! I bought mine used for like $25 and I'm sure the old man never done this and I haven't either! I may do this process twice on both sides considering how slow mine is brewing!
Thanks, I'm glad I found your videos. My needle was clogged and thanks to your tips I now will be able to clean the coffee maker and single cup as well it wouldn't brew my hot chocolate and I was panicking. Feel better.
Great video, I really appreciate how detailed you are with each step. Thanks! ✌️🤙👍
My pleasure!
I just dug this coffee maker out of the garage for use again, but wanted to descale it and had no clue how to do that with this parricular model. Your video was oerfect! Thabk you!
You're very welcome!
Absolutely fantastic thank you thank you thank you so easy to understand, step-by-step. And worked like a charm!!!❤❤❤❤ ☕️
You're welcome!
Your video was fantastic, so easy to follow, and now the single coffee maker side, which had stopped working, is making coffee perfectly again! Thank you so much!
You are welcome 😊
This was a good video thanks! I thought it was cute when you kept calling the left side “Cafe’”, which is actually called “Carafe”! Not making fun of you, just thought that was cute! 😂
Thanks, I just learned what a coffee pot was actually called about a year ago. I had no idea they were called Carafe. I even had to google how to pronounce this word. I am glad you thought it was funny, I am such a rookie at this and for some reason this word had been hard for me to remember. I get a good laugh at myself how nervous I get when I have to say what it is. A lot of the times I just say coffee pot. Thanks for understanding and putting a big smile on my face today!!!! Thanks for taking the time to leave such nice words!!!
@@JustADad No problem! 😉😘
Dude very helpful, except I've had my pot for almost a year. Followed this video, and it's spitting out the coffee in less than 10 mins. Thanks for the help.
Great to hear!
I've had a Flexbrew for about 4 years. It has gotten a lot of use, and I had descaled it several times in the past; but, have been delinquent for the past year or so. I needed a refresher on descaling and came across your page and video! Very well done and informative. My machine was full of gung - now it's clean and the coffee tastes great again! Many thanks!
THANKS SO VERY MUCH!
I wasn’t quite sure how to clean my flex brew coffee maker on the single serve side. I didn’t feel like looking for the owners manual for the instructions so I figured I’d search RUclips. Your video was PERFECT*EXCELLENT*EASILY UNDERSTOOD….hence anyone should be able to figure it out after viewing your video, and if not then something is wrong with them.
Excellent!
Excellent step-by-step video, clearly spoken. Very helpful. Tried it this morning and your instructions were spot on. God bless you.
Great to hear! Good job of figuring it out!!!!! I am so proud of you Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@JustADadMerry CHRISTmas to you and your entire family. Your videos are extremely helpful. Thank you for taking the time to share with us.
THANK YOU for sharing this! This coffee maker was about to go into my pile of coffee makers no longer working - this would have been 3rd one within a year. With this economy I needed to get this one going and with your help I did!
Awesome!!!! good job sticking with it and getting it done!
Thank k you so much for posting this video! My coffee maker was giving me the same signal cleaning so I wasn’t sure what to do and this was the first video that popped up when I googled what to do so I appreciate your step-by-step tutorial it worked perfectly and now my coffee is brewing so much quicker!
Glad it helped!! good job getting it done!
Thank you very much for making this video. Just cleaned out mine following along with my dad and it really helped especially the single serve side.
This was so great. You made this a no brainer. Thank you
Thank you soooo much, sir!!! This was very easy, but sadly I didn’t know how to do it 🤦🏽♀️ I subscribed!
Great video...easy to listen to. You're a good teacher!! Thanks so much
Wow, thank you!
Thank you for this video! I run vinegar through my flex brew, but I didn't know I needed to let it sit for 30 minutes, about to go clean it now 😬😬
Glad it helped!
I just got my Hamilton Beach flexbrew coffee maker and this video was helpful for when I do have to clean it out... Thanks 😊
Great video. I used distilled water to make my coffee. I would not have thought. I would have had a scall issue. But I have a light that says I need to clean my coffee Maker. Thanks for making this video I can now know how to clean my coffee Maker. Hope you have a great day.
Thank you.. very good video thank you for explaining step by step didn't know it had to set each side...
Thank you for the nice tutorial Mr Dad! Very helpfull!
Thank you very much. This really helped, I've had my coffee pot for a long time. Don't want to give it up. It's the best.
So glad to help
Thank you for posting this. I lost my booklet that came with this coffee maker and had no idea I had to turn it off after about 30-60 seconds after the vinegar started going through! Much appreciate your effort!
You're very welcome!
Thank you so much for this I did every thing you did except for turning it over and using a paperclip
Great demonstration!
Thank you so much for this video. My coffe pot on the single side is not working properly. Now I'm gonna go by the distilled vinegar. Much appreciated 😃
Your so welcome!!
Good tutorial.
Nice explanation and nice voice.
It would be helpful if you included how to reset coffee maker to rid the CLEAN display.
Also, Cafe vs Carafe 🙂
Great suggestion!
Thanks for posting this instructional video!
You're welcome! Glad it helped, and thanks for Watching!!!
I installed a whole house water softener about 12 years ago and I've never had to descale a coffee brewer ever again :-) Except now that I have the Keurig plus, I'll do when it tells me to as to not void the warranty. :-)
Thank you so much. Very helpful😊😊😊
Very informative. Thanks.
Thank you for this video I didn’t know about letting it sit for 30 minutes. I do use vinegar but I would just let it run right away.
Thanks for watching
Ty. Just got an older unit and needed to clean it.
Thank u. never descaled mine . Thank u for the video
You're so welcome! Thanks for watching and I am glad it helped. Thanks for your kind Words!!!
What is your favorite Coffee brand?
Thank you!
Excellent. Thank you!
I love this coffee maker and I have had for years and this cleaning video is the best to help keep your coffee maker brewing for years to come. Highly recommend you watching for the cleaning of the Flexbrew 2 way!👏
Thanks for Watching and your Kind Words!!!
What is your Favorite coffee?
I like Duncan Donuts original!
@@MarylandTracy That is what I am onto right now also. I also Like Black Rifle Coffee company JUST BLACK COFFEE, its a medium roast, its kind of expensive but it does taste great.
I loved this video. I had 2 of these coffee makes and i was ready to throw it out. But you saved another plastic item going into the landfill.
My favorite coffee is Peets Coffee Major Dickerson. Sold at Costco.
Love the video, its a great refresher when I need to descale my coffee maker. Keep making great vdeos Just A Dad
Awesome! Thank you!
Great video! Appreciate you
Thank you! Descaling now!!
You got this. Thanks for Watching!!!
I just love my Flexbrew coffee maker.
Awesome!!!
What is the best thing you like about your Flexbrew?
I was skipping the step where you let it soak, thanks for the video!
Hey, Just A Dad! Thank you for this video. I got this Flex Brew back in August. I love it. I haven't done a descaling - really have had no issue, but I should still give it a proper clean.
Thanks for Watching!! and definitely keep up on descaling. I just took apart an old coffee maker and I was so surprised at how bad it can look on the inside. Thanks again. check out this video I made. ruclips.net/video/mEVj5aIn9wI/видео.html
What if I my says needle.
I did what you said. Still say needle
@@susanholland6828 You can try this, I hope it helps ruclips.net/video/heLUKYWiUVQ/видео.html
@@JustADadI saw that part in this video and thought I was gonna lose my lunch. I’m so happy I found your video.
I never knew that it was necessary pause the brew cycle in the beginning to let the vinegar soak inside around the heating element, etc.. I like the fact that you can start the single serve side with the vinegar while letting the carafe side soak, and then after pausing to soak the single serve side you can continue with the rinsing of the carafe side!! Thank you for this video!!
Great tutorial
Thank you!
Thank you for info
My pleasure
Great video 👍
Thank you for this. That “clean” message was very persistent!
Glad it was helpful!
I have this same model and it has never shown a clean message
It works. Thank you
Good job cleaning your coffee maker!!
Very helpful
Glad to hear that
Thank you at work beautiful
Thank you 😊
You're welcome 😊
Thank youuuuuuu
Hamilton beach is the best I have an older model that specifically makes tea it’s over 12 years old and then I have the carafe and single serve model. It’s literally the longest lasting brand.
Your video is spot on and very easy to follow thanks so much
From an avid coffee and tea drinker 🙃😉
Thanks so much!!! What is your favorite coffee and tea?
@@JustADad I love Folgers French blend and I love chai and earl grey with lavender tea I also just recently got into oolong tea.
@@arayaday1774 Those sound like some good tea's I am wanting to try some tea, so thanks for sharing!
@@arayaday1774 When we got our FlexBrew, we also ordered a variety pack of tea k-cups on Amazon. Definitely worth a glance if you are experimenting with teas. I've recently discovered Earl Grey and it is a good change of pace. I mostly use the unsweetened Lipton k-cups. You fill a cup up with ice and brew that Lipton cup over it and you have Iced Tea instantly. I usually sweeten with these packets that look like sweetener packets but it is actually like crystalized lemon that dissolves in the tea. Either those or a few sweetener packets. I don't like it super sweet, plus I am diabetic. So that is my way of still enjoying sweet iced tea.
Thanks
What is the directions on the inside of the lid on the pod side? I thought I needed to take that apart by removing the screw, but then I couldn’t proceed. Thank you. This video was very helpful.
Mine is 3 yrs old. Didn’t know I needed to do this…..haven’t used it for 3 weeks. Went and made a brew - smelt and tasted like soap! Never used soap and always the single side. Hopefully this will help.
Thanks for the instruction video. Very clear. Not sure if you are still answering questions but our unit will not even pull more than about 1/2 of water from the reservoir and then it stops and the heater stays on with the gurgling sound. We have to physically turn it upside down to drain the reservoir to start again. We have a water softener so I am not sure this is a calcium build up problem. The single cup side works perfectly. Any ideas?
Thank you .
You are welcome!
Thank you
You're welcome
Thank you Just a Dad for the instructions on cleaning a Flex Brew. Mine has gotten so it takes two "brew now" presses on the single side in order to get a 14 oz cup of coffee. I am going to try cleaning like you recommend to see if the problem is resolved. I love this coffee maker.
Same problem I’m having. Did it work?
Great videos my man. Very specific and yet very easy to follow. I watched your other one of your teardown of these FlexBrews. I have a newer model and I am having an issue with the water from the single side spilling into the carafe side. I use to use 10 oz. for my Lipton tea k-cups and it would fill up my 16 oz. cup full of ice for a quick cup of iced tea. It now takes me 2 cycles of 10 oz. to do the same thing and the reservoir seems to empty waaaaay quicker. I have cleaned and descaled and am still having the issue. I am now wondering if it is that little white box inside between the 2 pumps. Too scared to tear it apart. I am pretty handy with repairing electronics and appliances, so I may give it the old college try. Keep up the good work bud.

This was great, I should have taken a picture of the crap that came out of the Carafe side 😮 it was gross
I have the older model Hamilton Beach flex brew coffee maker that you used in the demo and I really like it. I have lost my book with the Descale directions; therefore I was so glad to see your demonstration. I have a recall problem, do you have a printed version to go with the video?

Click on this link, its an amazon link but in the product description section you will see a link where you can click on a pdf of the manual.
Thank you so much for your video. I did everything that you said I’ve done this before but the Pod side is not returning all the water I put in 14 ounces and I’m getting back maybe four I have tried every nook and cranny there is with a paperclip, I can’t figure out the clog.Help
Thank you!..off to descale! lol
You got this! Thanks for Watching and keep me updated.
We have done the desalination but the display still says to clean.?
Please help..!!!!!
Hello, very good video. I have a question, how to delete the signal that says clean, after the varla.
maybe try unplug it for 30 min
helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
The problem that I'm having with this machine is that it will not give me any water on the right hand side. It will boil and maybe a couple of few drops will come out and that's it. I have cleaned the needles I have cleaned the machine inside and out and it still will not brew on the right hand side. The machine's only 3 years old.
Thank you for the video! Clean light just came on!🤦🏻♀️
Let me know how it goes
@@JustADad went great thanks to your tutorial!
@@christinehbailey Awesome, Good job Very Proud of you!
Great video!!! I just noticed your FlexBrew had "keep warm" text on the screen. Which model do you have? We've never seen it "keep warm" for ours. Maybe there's a secret hand gesture to make that feature turn on? 🤣🤷♂️ Maybe it's just a different model. Hmmm...
Mine is a model 49976, thanks for watching!!!
Great video.. I got up this morning and my single serving side said "fil"... I don't know what this error message is but it obviously has something to do with the water reservoir.. After a few tries, I got it to work. Then I followed your instructions on how to clean it..(Don't use the other side).. I have a feeling I will be running into this error again.. Can you tell me if you know what I can do to fix this? Thank you so much..
I have heard a few other viewers have this. and they thought it was a logic error. they would try to brew a k cup and forget to tell the machine to do a single serve and when they hit the brew button it tries to make a pot of coffee, the machine tries and there is no water on the coffee pot side so it comes up with an error. they would unplug it and start over and make sure the select the single serve side.
@@JustADad Thank you.. I always use the single serve.. I think unplugging it helped... Thank you again.
I have this model coffeemaker and the coffee just won’t brew I added vinegar to the coffeemaker to clean the line scale it turns on but just won’t brew could you help me out.
So, what’s your honest review of this Hamilton Beach FlexBrew Coffee Maker K-Cup Machine 49954? Does this coffee maker brew between 195 - 205F and does it have a Bloom Feature? I can only afford to buy once. I value your opinion. Thanks
Does have to be distiller vinegar? I only have normal white vinegar
I've ran several cups of vinegar through mine and the cleaning message wont go away. I've follow your video to the letter. Even waited 90 minutes. Message wont go away which is strange because I barely use the pot size.
Is there a permanent water filter you can use for even better tasting coffee if you might run out of the ones provided...I hear filtered water is the secret in barista coffee shops for great tasting coffee
Question.. when I hit brew on my coffee maker it doesnt make that click noise. So it doesnt start dripping water. Any reason as to why? I can't find anything online.
You should clean the needle on the single cup side when you show this video
I could use your help please. I regularly descale, however this model says add H2O regardless of single or carafe. Can yoi help?
That word is not cafe, it is referring to the glass carafe... said like ca-RAFF. A cafe is a place to eat, a carafe usually refers to a glass container, could hold wine or coffee etc
Hi Just a Dad. I did what you said on cleaning my single cup out and the needles. It still wont work. no vinegar are water will not run through. I been working on this since yesterday about to throw it in the trash. Can you please help. Thank You!
I did this and my maker is heating, but not pushing thru. Water/vinegar is just sitting in the reservoir.
The owner's manual should cover this
Does it matter if you use cold water, warm water, or hot water when you go to rinse out the vinegar?
It says to use cold water. thanks for Watching.
Can you use cleaning vinegar? The single serve side has a built in filter in thre water chamber. Can it be removed to be cleaned? I did not knowit would display "clean".
Not sure, I would think if you can not remove it then its just a filter to keep out particles and you could use vinegar.
Hello that’s for video do you think doing this step on single side will help with pumping of the water? I’ve not been getting a full cup it’s getting to point of no water coming out?
Yes, How long have you had the machine.
Also check your needle is cleaned
@@JustADadyes I’ve been having the dams problem recently, with water, not draining all the way out and getting a full cup of coffee. I have the descaled it. I hope this works better this time with letting it sit. I watched your video this FaceTime my Queen my machines just to make sure it was Phone freight process but for some reason like how we still end up having the same problem with the single serve side. Is there something to take out or place and that would help the skillet more
I have the one with the metal carafe. I only used the pod side once. But I noticed when cleaning if you don't do both sides anyway the "Clean Message" will not go off. It drove me crazy the first time, and somehow I did it anyway and the message finally went off. Just to let people know. You need to do Both sides when the "Clean" message comes up. (It comes on the display on the metal one) I did not see it on the one in the video, don't know if it has it come up on the display.
Hi just a dad. I have the older version coffee marker. I never used the cafe side only the k-cup side. Can I only descale the k-cup side?
Yes you can just descale the k cup side, that is just fine.
What is your favorite K cup?
We have the new one now for about 3 to 4 days. I have my receipt but no box. $88 bucks down the drain. K-cup side, nothing comes out buy maybe a top of coffee. I have already cleaned needles.
Sorry to hear that. I bet they will still take it back. I would call and ask.
I've cleaned mine, on the Carafe side several times. It still says CLEAN. I've unplugged it for several minutes, and the next time I brew, it says CLEAN again.
?????
Any suggestions for the carafe side being completely unresponsive? I bought this second hand last weekend and found out this morning that the left side won't do....anything..
Any advice would be great!
Hi Cosywareham1481! I’m sorry to see you bought a second hand flex brew and it didn’t work.
I noticed you commented here over a year ago, Did you ever get your flex brew to work? Just wondering.
I’m many years ago, I learned my lesson when it came to purchasing used appliances. I will never buy a used appliance again, however there are exceptions; if I know the person who owned it and did it work without any issues.
I think that in the future your best option would be to purchase a new coffee maker (or any appliance), this way you know there is a warranty of some sort. Just my own thoughts due to my own past, ‘bad’ experience(‘s).
Have a nice day ☺️.
I have a second hand flexible coffee pot and when I got it the cleaning light came on. I have descaled it three or four times and the light is still on. Do you think it's beyond repair?
Yeah it probably has a lot of mineral build up on the heating elements. Descale is something you have to keep up on, once it gets built up it can be very hard to remove it. Thanks for Watching.
Can I use descaling liquid I bought for my Nespresso or does pure vinegar work better? When I first bought the FlexBrew I thought it was very slow brewing and act usa with some reviews afterwards, that also said the same thing. It was slow when brand new, just wondering if this will help or not?
Not sure about the Nespresso descaler, I would just use vinegar.
@@JustADad thanks. I read my manual on the FlexBrew and I appreciate your attention to detail on making this video. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I use, keuring descalate liquid and now it heat the vinegar etc but dont pump. Help?
Just finished descaling. There wasn't alot of stuff in the water but why does the machine keep displaying "clean"?
That is a good question. I am not sure, maybe unplug it and let it sit for 10 min then plug it back in. I am not sure if the clean light comes on after so many brews or if they can sense when the heating element on the inside is dirty with backed on minerals.
