- Just had to try 4s power in the new Arrma Vorteks 4x4 blx. Also sporting the new M2C motor mount and support block! I installed a Surpass Hobby 2850kv 3660 paired with an old blx 185 150 amp ESC. running a 20 tooth pinion, the Gamechanger fan kept things cool! The the truck is so much fun to rip around and holds down the power so well! Another killer truck in the 3s lineup! HUGE thanks and shoutout to Arrma, M2C Racing, Gamechanger rc and also Kimberley Sanchez from Basherqueen for the awesome Carbon finer parts!

Great video Eric. I just built a 6s vorteks. Basically a trugified typhon with a shortened/narrowed chassis. It's the way to go for 1/10 scale speed bashing. The stronger arms, 6s drive train with a tunable center dif is far superior for 4 and 6s.

This is very impressive, I was trying to see what speed I could get out of my Big Rock last night with stock tyres on 4s and it was such a handful, the Vorteks is really planted. My mates one is getting m2c baby, he bent the motor mount really bad when we hit the skate park the other day. We both ran hard and mine even with the old blx 2050kv motor mounted on the m2c mount and brace was rock solid. I've got some Mojave wheels coming for mine, but the Vorteks has speed with ease. Good to see it's pretty tough, surely those arms weren't breaking from just the one huge jump, they were weakened by the continual abuse it was coping?
Awesome driving as always and the fun factor is super high with these plastic trucks, it surely shows how weight and materials can have such a big impact on the outcome, great work from Arrma and Avery with his motor mount and brace!

Man!!! What are you guys doing for diff internals!! I’m trying to make my daughters vortex’s tougher and it kept popping drive shaft universals, throw’d in a set of gpm’s and now it’s solid but keeps trashing read diff internals, already installed metal input’s and diff gears front and rear? I wonder if slipper is too tight! I’m working on a big rock build too, want to figure these 3/4s lines out. Hard to break out the Ol big girl ocexb with a 9 year old bashing!! Try landing in deep grass or super soft thick grass. The field hes landing in wouldn't be too bad for wrecks from the jump but he is going insane high with it. I would go about 1/3 that high in that spot with the grass field

RPM arms are a must for sure, otherwise the arrma 3s line is so damn durable!
O I forgot batteries one more on lower temps with better air flow that hits the battery on all of its sides so heat can't get trapped

Can you do a 34 34 gearing combo with this rig just put 2024 kv 4s motor and mambax 6s ESC on mine trying to figure out gear ratios to try I'm 24 pinion and 57 tooth spur at the moment
Are you planning to put the Big Rock V3 arms, links and shafts in it? Should fit they are pretty much the same chassis
I have no plans to at the moment. The stance is perfect imo. The BR chassis is longer but yes, the arms and links will fit!
@@RCDUDE81, I know i looked over the exploded view, other than chassis length they are basically the same except arm length. Personally I wouldn't, That would make a car, that is wider than it is long and probably worsen stability more than anything
i have no idea how you keep drive axles on these 3 and 4 s arrmas, mine used to either pop all the time or id have to run slipper loose and sacrifice power. would be cool to see how you set yours up. the way i have been doin it lately is slipper out, put red spline piece and driveshaft and then tighten till i can barely turn it by hand when i twist driveshaft and hold slipper in my hand. seems to work ok but i was curious if this is how you adjust it on your 3s 4s arrmas.
Shredded splines out of the main driveshaft today at the motor spline, back to the drawing board for me.
Keep popping the yolks on mine every time I take it out. The tires keep coming unglued. 1st 8 packs were fine now it breaks every time I run it. Without jumps just gravel or pavement!

Well They all serve different bashing purposes but I'd say the Big Rock. Imo the most well rounded 3s basher. Holds down power, fast and also stunts/jumps nice! Adding on the M2C 17mm hexs allows for lots of wheel options!😎👊

All stock truck right now other than the M2C mount and electriconics. I have had links bend or snap on rough hits but so far these are holding up.😜

Oh I gotcha. Yeah the bushings wear out fast. Hot Racing makes an aluminum bushing kit for the whole truck. Other than that I've never changed the actual rod ends.

Great video looks fun, out of curiosity i have a 4068 2650kv racestar motor with 150a firma esc in my typhon 3s/4s you think I could fit a game changer fan in it by chance? I'm running 18t Pinon she runs little hot with this Florida weather gonna be a scorching summer so I figure need better fans or need to drop the pinion. Any suggestions? Currently using a twin powerhobby fan heatsink on motor. Just thinking if maybe could put a game changer fan or two . What you think?

So excited think I've got it all figured out. Bout to pull the trigger on these fans etc. They are pricey won't lie D: getting motor mount, two fans for my racestar motor 4068 2650kv, an adapter for my firma 150a with a esc fan and getting a balance adapter basically little more than 150 bucks but everyone brags about this fans, seem tough and can use it on another project down the road considering the motor mount expands to 56 mm from 40mm? Whew here we go xD

I dremeled out a slot under the reciever box cover to fit it. I ran the tie then mounted the cover.😎👊

Eric i started stocking up on parts to build a ralley car , I don't know why but I prefer the shorter chassis, my goal always being able to drive like you and still try get longevity out of the rc. Same with bigrock , the granite ive had performed as fast and well as this vortex , im still building brcc but its far from performing equal to those two, I need the wider arms I think I be there , im running 130 amps esc still 3s motor and 17mm conversion with buggy wheels could use some Tallon kattars ..

Same issue here. The noise appears originate from within module. No amount of setting mesh helps. There is too tight followed by sounds like a diesel when it's running. Nothing in between. Diffs are "quiet"; If you separate the module from diffs and run just that, you can tell where the sound is from. Motor is perfect without the spur. Spur looks like brand new. Was like this OOTB. I watched all the Vorteks running videos and most sound similar to mine. I find it really annoying. May try a metal Spur, and see if that helps.

@@chuckplate9463 when you have module out whikre together spin spur see if binds in one spot, than just make sure its not hitting the case in that spot , next possibility when they tightening clutch than backing out half turn or so from factory, it could be separating the fixed brass on the hub and that spinning causing the clicking , that brass piece supposed to be fixed not able to separate, I don't own vortex but I have been through a couple 3s arrmas , had similar problems after ordering a whole assembly from jennys , with mine the problem was inside one of the hubs is a nut a fixed nut and not deep enough inside the hub so wouldn't allow me to lock the module flush to the rear diff
@@chuckplate9463 see now earl put metal spur in and did fix but idk because he ended up changing that hub , " the one with brass piece , make sure everything in centered perfectly on the spur , slightest bit off or spur not being perfectly round would cause too I think its the hub , either that fixed nut not deep enough or brass piece being broken off , sucks it stopped me from buying vortex because I just spent 60 on new one to fix 3s cars I already have and that other wear parts are reason I was going buy it .
hey brother have you had issues with the avc in your vorteks not working? two different avc receivers for me and i calibrated correctly.. truck still wants to turn on its own i'm at a loss

About the same 15ish minutes. Probably average for most packs if driving hard.

Great vid though I wish you'd do more than one fully stock run before changing pretty well everything possible. They are are fun to watch but I wouldn't buy a Vorteks based on your videos because I'd run it stock and you were too quick to mod it up.

So why do we still see a bearing in the wheels that's not good for impact there are way better but no one's using them the covor or ceramic means nothing when it's not a impact style bearing like you see on cars trucks so why do we not see it on RC cars that are bigger heavy need better bearings and cooling systems need better venting and air flow a fan is great if it has more venting not just a small gap forcing air need better venting in the transmission also one more spot heat gets trapped look at belt drive atv or snowmobile use air flow to help keep temps down if we did venting in and out of the motor transmission you would see many performance issue go away and better temps means better speeds lower temps helps
