The first game felt better to play in the remaster included with WKC 2, WKC2 improved alot of features. I didn't sink nearly as much time into that one. It was also time I got new laptop and internet to use for online gaming. Finding rare mats, guild quests, own Georama Building and online stuff. Back in 2011 I put over 100 hours into the first game, and three quarters of the time was me playing online after beating the story. It was my first true online experience since I never played an mom before. Man the different towns people made were amazing! It blew my mind with how much work was put into some of them. I could never get enough when it came to seeing different towns and doing quests with my friends. I tried getting into the 2nd game, but unfortunately I was busy playing dark souls 1 at the time of its release.... by the time I got around to playing the 2nd game, there was announcement of the servers being taken down... It was truly a sad day when the got shut down. Tried to replay the games again a couple years ago but without the online aspect I just wasn't staying interested in the game. It's truly an unfortunate thing because the online was so good. Hopefully someday the two games (and maybe the psp version?) Will be remastered and bring that sweet sweet online back. Heck, even a whole new 3rd entry would have tons of potential to be a success

Honestly if you ask me, the reason the second game didn't sell as well was because the first game had a lot of issues. The second however was amazing imo. It fixed every problem I could have imagined from the first, and made it so much better. Monsters would hit you from miles away if they started their attack near you, guarding was almost pointless iirc, etc. There were just a lot of problems with the first that, while I did enjoy it, It also frustrated me due to these issues. I just think people were like "Nah, the first one had too many issues, I don't wanna go through that again on the second". The second was definitely MUCH more polished and much more amazing, including being able to have your own customizable Knight. I didn't really get that far in the online, but I still saw quite a few people who would play the online a long time after it's release. The people who did buy it continued playing it for a long time. Even today, White Knight Chronicles in my opinion was one of the best games I've played, at least, WKC2 International(because it had both 1 and 2 and fixed all the issues I had with the game). I even started over from the beginning on WKC2 just to play it from the beginning without all the issues the first had, and it was SO MUCH BETTER. If it had released with all the fixes from WKC2, I believe it'd definitely have sold a lot more.

Yes, its a PS3 game and can't be compared with today games, but even in the year the game was release was a bad game (compared with the other games in same time) with "PS2 full HD graphics like" and PS2 gameplay.
The best thing about this game(1 and 2 actually) was the online mode + character customization with no class limitation + craft and georama.
Some equipments in the game are very cool design, but most ones are the same with other colors or have shit design. The story is cliche and bad, gameplay is slow but ok, grind is IN-SA-NE! It wasn't the modders that killed it, it was conflict with WKC2 being dropped by Sony America (US Sony publisher) during loaclization and being picked up by D3. D3 didn't want to localize updates (the end of the online story) while not making the return of investment they had hoped for. It all turned into a headache for Sony, so they just killed the US and UK servers 16 mo after release with the Japan one to follow a year afterward. while i like the gameplay, the charater and village creation, and the customisable avatar knight (my only escaflowne fix ever with vanguards bandits) the story was uber shit and the cast totally incompetent. it was nerve wracking to see them destroy in every cutscenes the work i did in 4hours of tedious dungeons. The story can be very cliché, but I still like it. My problem was that the first game was just too easy that sometimes I got bored.

Yeah... I tried to grind the guild rank up enough to hit level 80 without losing my mind... I got close, and ran out of gas. I love the crafting system and the weight system. But by god the ai and online quests are not balanced to be played solo, you will draw aggro immediately and get stomped. I love the game though, so gorgeous. I wish sony didn't have anything to do with it though, because they already have brilliant games like legend of dragoon and maybe even hexyz force that they'll probably never even look at again.
I wish they didn't rip everything off the store too, can't even get the character change ticket, or use the npc hairstyles.

While I rather enjoyed the gameplay of _White Knight Chronicles_ (even getting the platinum trophy on the sequel), there was quite a bit to complain about for the series. I recall one of my biggest problems with the sequel being the fact that aside from the story, it reused everything from the first game and pretty much only had new content at the very beginning and end of the game. Understanding that, the fact that the entire first game is "remastered" is more a testament of how much content they reused. Still, it was a rather interesting way to do a sequel. I don't recall how a "fresh" game worked with the sequel, but pretty much (if not) everything could be carried over from the first game; doubling the level cap (40 to 80 as I recall) and also gave you a free respec if you wanted. This made it feel much more like a direct sequel (in a good way) compared with other series where they'll reset your character for one reason or another.
Overall, like much of Level 5's stuff, it's probably a game that works a lot better on paper. Underneath the grindy and slow combat, there were all sorts of good game ideas, and the skill tree system is probably one of my favorites, even if it ends up largely forgettable as a result of the game it's in.

This game was by far my favorite game of all time 3-4 years of none stop playing and more then 5k hours of play time 😭 i miss this game so much 😭 the only problem that this game had was 2.
1.the exclusiveness of content between regions ( japan had more story line and more dongeon, more armors, than us here in US)
    2. The fact that they didn’t had away to gain profit 🤷🏽‍♂️ what i mean by this is that back then the only way they thought of making money of a game was by selling lots of copies of the game now it doesn’t have to be like that hell now a day the best profitable games are free to play game... look at fornite... so yeah. I think they should have a try at the game again and make more content and have like battle pass or something to gain out of it so they can make more content for us to play. The game was amazing and yes it had a slow start but it was a guaranteed that when you started playing online you were going to get hooked with the game. The community it had was so friendly and 0 toxicity... and the flexibility of low players to play on quests with stronger players was amazing. This game was so much fun. Cool armors designs, cool wepons etc

I loved this game. I played through the first one like 20+ times. It was like Dark Souls. It had replay value. So while it was short-ish, you could play through it heaps of times. It was a little grindy, but a heck of a lot of fun. So it didn't feel grindy until much later on.
Honestly, games that drag on (Dark Souls, Skyrim, Fallout, etc) can become too overwhelming and time-consuming. I find myself stopping after some days/weeks into these big games. I just get worn out.
