  • White Knight Chronicles II 「白騎士物語II」is a Japanese role-playing game produced by Level-5 and SCE Japan Studio, and published for the Sony PlayStation 3 (2010 in Japan, 2011 in the west).
Continuing on from the story of the first game, we are brought to the conclusion of the tale of the Incorruptus users. Is it worth playing through to the end? Let's find out.

In Europe the guild ranking system was incredibly slower than NA version. So much so that to go from GR29 to GR30 it would take Europe around 52,000,000GP whilst NA was 13,500,000GP ish
In terms of this game in general we got massively screwed compared to Japan. They had a mountain of extra content, almost double in terms of gear, knight parts and dungeons to run. They had an extra 20GR and the ability to hit level 99 I think(either 90 or 99, can't remember.)
The "To be continued" at the end was in relation to the Avatar story mode, which was an extra few chapters dedicated to your character, this had to be undertaken online because it was impossible to solo and was extremely difficult even with an optimised and skilled team. The Avatar story was a Japan exclusive however, all the extra content (including that story) was in the game discs files for EU and NA. It was intended to be released as a dlc but never came to fruition.
I enjoyed the review, it was nice revisiting a fresh perspective of a game I've sunk far too much time into back in the day.

Thanks for the extra information. I wish I had played it back when the servers were still up. I enjoyed elements of the game, but I feel like I would have enjoyed it more had I been able to play all that extra content with other people (though the Japanese content would have been nice too).
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks!

Also the servers were up for over a year or more in Japan while they shut down the na and eu servers and never even got the avatar story quests

Such an under rated game, I was really hoping they would find a way to continue it but give your character a main role since u have a knight, I remember playing and coming up with my own saying when my character became a knight.

Right? At the end of this game there is a little scene with your character and then a "to be continued", but it never eventuated into anything. Shame, really.

White knight 2 comes with the first game enhanced that combine it with 2 for one long JRPG, so no need to buy the 1st game.

Ya know if you get into the combo making it is hands down the best you can damage and take out large enemies fast he missed a good chance to show a very important part In this game

I absolutely loved White Knight Chronicles and White Knight Chronicles 2 (I thought I'd save my comment for the sequel review!). You are right and fair in a lot of what you say, but there's still something about this game that just scratches that RPG itch for me. The pseudo-mmo gameplay style really hit the spot when I played through on PS3. In Europe this game also came bundled with the original, which was great for making sure you knew the whole plot.
That said, I think a lot of what I enjoyed from this game is due to playing them back to back. There is very little 'new' in this game (as you mention) which means playing through it felt like more of a 'part two' than a sequel. This did not detract from my enjoyment, but if I had waited years for the sequel only to find recycled content then I may have felt very differently about it.
Having played through the game I really think it was developed with a sequel in mind. I am gutted that will never come to fruition, but it was such a great experience both in story and combat. Combo designing really felt like putting your stamp on your characters. I never cared much for the Knight combat, and was far more interested in the party combat as it seemed far more developed.
It gives me Xenoblade vibes when I watch it back, which is pretty interesting. I think it's the combat style and attempted scale of the game. I have not made that link before this video. I am nostalgic for it, and may actually go and give it another try in the near future. It was a good experience and whilst a lot of it was MMO padding it really was enjoyable to me.
On a small tangent, have you played the PS2 RPG Rogue Galaxy? Would you consider reviewing it?

I feel like if you played the second game without having played the first game, it can be really difficult to understand what is going on, the motivations of the antagonist, why people some people can transform into Incorruptus and others can't.. haha. It was a bit of a mess, and really just should have been one game, rather than being split into two, I felt.
Agreed about the Incorruptus combat. It felt bland compared to what you could do with your party, even though it was easy to wipe to floor by using them.
I do wish that I was able to genuinely experience the multiplayer, as the Georama aspect of the game was really fun, and came through from the Dark Cloud series well.
No, I haven't played Rogue Galaxy, and yes it is something I'd consider reviewing. Thanks for the suggestion!

Great looking game, looks similar to xenoblade. What do you think? I like your videos and I'm keen to try this game

It's very different from the Xenoblade games. I wouldn't recommend this one. It has pacing issues that persist not only in battle, but also in the story.

The Battlefield Flower. It's the game's theme song.

I mean even though I personally loved it everyone hates Shadow Hearts From The New World and I can see why since there was very little connection to the first 2 games it was actually decent though I gotta say fuck the strike gauge system they added

Oh yeah, I remember I wasn't too into it when it came out either, though I think I'd probably approach it with a different mindset if I were to play it again. I think I just really missed Yuri as a protagonist, and America didn't seem nearly as interesting a setting as what Europe and Asia did.

You missed the biggest fail in this game. You could only fight the TRUE BOSS of the whole game in GUILD MODE, which took FOREVER to rank up.

Yup. Didn’t have the patience to play the game any more than I did. Haha.
