So heartbreaking to watch this. WKC/WKC II were some of the greatest games ever made imo, from the characters and environments all the way down to the music. I mean seriously I would do and give anything to see this franchise reborn. Between the 1200+ and 1500+hrs I put into the 1st and 2nd game respectively, I have never had an experience quite like it ever since & ive played just about all there is out there. At the same time it's also nice to just look back and appreciate it for what it was and the times I had with it :') Thanks for making this video GamingBolt. Fingers crossed for a miracle!!
I wish the White Knight Chronicles Duology would have a remaster for the PS5. I remember playing these two games on my PS3 back in my high school days and having a fun time adventuring around the world and visiting many locations like the Kingdom of Balindor, City State of Greede, Arch Duchy of Faria, the desert, the mountains, the valley, the dogma rift and red horn isle. Damn this game never got a third installment or any installments what so ever.
The multiplayer of this game was unreal. It was a borderline MMO concept and it was great. I made so many friends playing it Really sad that it never got ported over to the PS4 or PS5.
It's too grindy for a shallow Online interactivity quite honestly. If it was an MMO it's fine. I've spent so much time on Georama than playing other games that time. I still needs nore improvement.
*hearing him talk about how this game didn't do anything new* ...are you blind? These games let you CREATE your own combo attacks, and featured GIANT ESCAFLOWNE-STYLE ARMORED KNIGHTS What other fantasy RPG lets you PLAY as giant armored knights? And not just in big cutscenes but in ANY BATTLE? AND you got to customize one of them! It was also one of the first co-op online PS3 RPGs! This game series did so much cool shit and I'm so sad it isn't more recognized.
Getting to create your own town was great also. Recruiting npc's so you can farm different materials. Remember no town was the same it depended on what npc's you picked for your town.
This game is literally the spiritual successor to dark clouds town management system and with geonet you could do some amazing city building and could visit other people's towns like animal crossing to get exclusive rewards.
@@AudioFilth i discovered the save editor after the servers shut down i was wondering why there was a guy with all of the best armor in the game who can 1 or 2 hit all of the bosses in dungeons
@@free_icecream76 it’s too bad none of the Japan dlc/expansion never saw light in the states, would of kept the game alive for at least two more years.
The geos and character creation were my favorite. Online co-op was initiated by going to someones geo, and the game had a little bulletin board. It was kinda like a in-game internet.
Sony shut down Japan Studio and moved to the states , messed up the chat and party system , killed communities . I am worried this is The beginning of the end x Playstation one dumb move after another
I wish the Clementine Group which revived Phantasy Star Universe and gave it its online capabilities would work on this game and give it an online service and pc Port like they did PSU.
They need to remake it from the ground up; much as I like it, a good few of the mechanics need refining (the ability panels and combat, binding, drop rates, action chips, the Knight system, the georama) or removal (the guild rank level locks, probably the mmo aspect outside of guild quests). There's an amazing game buried by some tedious mechanics, and it's going to need a lot of time and effort to truly unearth and polish it.
What’s missing here is the online. Building your towns and the co-op community were the entire appeal of this series. People who played these games for years were the first to admit the single-player story was fairly mediocre. But the online was so much fun. The Japanese server got the best of the experience and playing there was one of the best experiences of my gaming life, where I learned enough kanji to fully enjoy the community. Some of the guilds moved over to FFXIV where they still are today.
I absolutly disagree with this video. The story to this game is very unique. the issue was the locilization company decided to fuck off and screwed over all the non japan players and lost half the story because of it. this game has great lore and a amazing world. Gamingbolt obviously did not play the game nor did they dig into the world.
I miss the days... Doing Mission Quests with my friends and just chillin, in Kokoro's town. I loved The story. even if it was Simple. They do need to make a major update so you can single player everything. because all the quests where made for multiplayer.
@@mathieudoucet1446 you can it's very hard but you can, the difficult trophy is getting getting 50 missions on S rank, is doable if you have the right build, there are guides in the internet to get the platinum solo.

The simplicity of this game made it great in its own right. The story wasn't bad, but the gameplay, the music, the great areas and enemies was all there. I am just sad the dlc that came out in JP never came over to the Us.
This game has such a big impact on my life. I remember spending HOURS in both single and MP grinding and replaying the story till i had it mostly down by heart. Getting to put your "Avatar" In the world as part of the main crew was super welcoming. If nto for this game i would never have met my Partner. This was the game where we first met and if this game some how magicly got a Steam port with using the steam matchmaking foe the MP i would buy ir without hesitation. Hell if they even remake/reboot and just tweaked the Guild system to be like normal mmo guilds i would love it. Always hated the fact the guild rank reset after a time. Unless you had a HUGE group you would never get far in the ranks. But anyways this game needs a rebirth in my opinion this was the last good game before Level 5 switched to focusing on the yokai watch and professor laton series. I miss there badass RPGS Dark Cloud/Dark Chronicles 1 and 2, Rouge Legacy, and the White Knight series were just so good. *pours one out for the lost gems of the time*
I still can't get over teh fact that the second game literally has an entire fucking THIRD of it that was never translated (It's on the fucking disk! It's right there! They just didn't translate it!)
FUCKING SERIOUSLY WHERE OUR PART 3 HERO SERIES :/ 2600HR PLUS ON 2 AND NEVER GOT BORED!! AND MAKING YOUR OWN TOWN!!! THE FUCKING FEELS MAN HITTING THANK YOU FOR REMEMBERING MY FAVORITE THATS LOW KEY BAD ASS GOOD!
I think they should reboot this and make it a MMO in the vain of tower of fantasy, genshin impact. With that awesome transformation gimmick that turns you into a huge knight, I think it would do really well.
I think the reason why the game failed in America is because of the fact that the people publishing the game handed it to the most incompetent publisher of them all and that would be D3 publisher. If I think if D3 would like release the final patch for the game that would have unlocked extra content including weapons, armor and the Avatar missions maybe we would have saw more success in America than Japan. We might have gotten a third White Knight Chronicles game if a Sony and D3 didn't f*** things up. Also it's a kick in the balls that they release the PSP and only Japan and Europe but never really sit in America which is horseshit.
I feel like you didn't play White Knight Chronicles lol this game had more things that stood out. Let's start with the combat. How many games are out there that you can create your own combos and name them funny or strong names to make people laugh or feel like "oh snap he means business". How many games can you transform into a knight that you can create and make it look like what you want as well as give it a name. Not many. Also you can create your own town that sell items based on what you put in your town. The guild system was good as well where you can have your own guild town and you have challenge to do which moved your guild up in ranks. It had good voice acting. The music was amazing. Graphics for its time was good. I will agree with you that the story was short and maybe generic but the online was great. You seem like you played the story maybe played the online until about GR 6 or 7 and then put the game away. The reason the game didn't do too well was because there wasn't much promotion on it so not many people knew of it. It took so long for part 2 to come out and there was moments where there was talk about it not coming that people who were waiting for it grew tired of waiting and moved on to a different game. I can guarantee that if a part 3 comes out during this time it would do fantastic especially since youtube is way bigger now than back then so the game will be more known to a more vast amount of people who will buy
Absolutely. Everyone I ever met who tried the game loved it. It had many amazing features wrapped up in a single game where other games only had one of those features. It was made so people could play both online and offline. Build and customize so many aspects of the game to their personal liking. It may not have been truly amazing in any specific aspect compared to other games but it came close and had many other features that those other games didn't have. This is the game I most wish to see get a 2020+ Steam remaster. Just imagine this game with today's graphics.
Dont know why this game was ahead of its time how it implemented the online with the regular game they should've kept making them and should reboot this franchise i liked building own town people could visit on line and upgrade gears everything about it was amazing I really don't care what others think this game was just way ahead of his time and it's really needed to be brought back
It's a shame that Level5 basically said they won't be releasing anything in the west again. The cost of localization cuts too deep into their margins and makes their releases less profitable. At least that's what the CEO says. While they could easliy team up with Nintendo or Square Enix as they have before. On the Nintendo side, there are rumors that Nintendo feels they aren't worth doing business with. If it's true they could partner with SE to handle Localization, as long as it's more cost effective then doing it themselves and even if it's not it beats how long it takes them to do the work themselves. Yokai 4 for the Switch was being localized since 2019, if that hasn't already been canceled. I personally think whatever magic they had, it's slowly fading. They haven't made anything really amazing in a long time. Yokai 4 is actually pretty damn good but it's not on the level they need. Hopefully their next project is something that really catches peoples attention and puts them back on the map.
to this day, WKC remainds my favourite game on the PS3, the story was typical, and the gameplay was "fine"... but what made it stand out was the knights. this game had quite a unique concept that i have not found a match for since. it was unrefined and predictable yes, and i think the Avatar could have had some more love throughout the length of both games but... i will love this game regardless, despite its flaws, there is a special place in my heart for this series, i was there when it came out, i was there when the servers went down... and was there when the game was officially considered dead. to this day i come back to it every year or so to experience the game and all it has to offer again and again.
I really wanted to like WKC because I was intrigued by the idea of being a sidekick to the main character, but I hated that your character gets ignored completely for 95% of both games.
The best thing about this game was the online community that was fantastic and had fun ways to do builds. I really enjoyed this game. Anyone know anything similar I played this online all the way tell server shutdown
WKC were amazing games, not for the single player experience that was indeed quite underwhelming, but for the stragely fun and addictive online part, especially 'cause for some reason the community was VERY good/friendly, easily one of the very best in my many years of expereince in playing MMOs Even after all these years i still play together with 5 of my old guildmembers that i met in wkc.....
I loved this game series. I liked both WKC, and WKC2, and yes I got the special edition that both games on it. I would love to see it return either as a 3rd game that picks up after WKC2's cliffhanger ending, or a reboot.
I never got to play WKC multiplayer side but the single player is awesome. I still remember some of the levels back when I was playing in 2012. I remember the huge trolls, the centipede looking monsters, the giant dog thing, etc. but the most part I remember about the first game was getting frustrated when I realized I was just some guy along for the ride! Everyone else got to turn into some cool giant knights and here I am just chillin😂😂
That's the reason why WKC was a game to play online , I'm in Japan and played from day one to last day of online service , the story was just to get basic stuff to then, go online questing . Our avatar could transform to a fully customizable Knight , but the devs made a huge mistake on giving them some powerful buffing capabilities , and that's what they turned to , nothing but a buffing machine . I hated that , because the Knights looked awesome , but if you used the cool , not the useful , you were considered a noob or troll.
@@Paulodealgumacoisa oh ok. I never used the multiplayer aspect because I didn’t have internet all the time back then and when I did I only knew how to build my own little town. I did however purchase WKC 2 soon after I bought the first one. I was aware that YOU could transform into a knight in the second one and I also knew that it would take ages to get it, like mid/late game. One thing I wasn’t aware of tho (back in like 2012-13) was that apparently I needed to finish the first game to even start the second game lol
Someone should bring the online server back online (hint hint) Just like the group that brought the socom series back online! Miss playing this game with friends!
Absolutely one of the best Sony games of the past decade. I heavily disagree with the critic of this video. This game breached on new concepts. One of the most amazing concepts was the player wasn't the main character of the story but a side character. One always present but separated. As such it was ok for the main character to wander off to do their own thing in online main and major draw to the game without hurting the story. I am someone who would pull this game back out and pay to play to have the servers back up.
What do you mean never found its footing. Players spent 1000's of hours doing the online gameplay. I know i was 1 of them. From the day i got my town in part 1 and till the servers shut down with lots of other players. They lied to us at the very end of the game. It showed your character alone with the words TO BE CONTINUED.
WKC was a game I pre ordered and enjoyed when I received it. Part 2 just expanded the story but did nothing else. It would be great if they fully remade the 3 games and but them on the PS5 along with finishing the series with a WKC3. I Would buy it. 💵
i thought it was excellent it did not excel in any aspect alone (at least at first glance), but the overall experience made it an amazing game. The longer i played it the more i got attached to the characters and the more i got absorbed into the story. yes, it seemed generic, for the first 10-20 hours, but it gets really good. it was NOT that simple - this video isn't doing the game justice.
i have play 2000 hours on the european version and when the european server goes down i buy with some friends the japanese version and play other 1800 hours.my absolutely favorite game ever.best time for white knight chronicles 3
What's sad is the only chance I get to play this is on ps4 on ps now, I don't own the consoles the discs work for, and it sucks, the idea of the game was so fucking cool
My problem with White Knight Chronicles was that it was too much of a fusion between Final Fantasy and Power Rangers, another problem i had with it is that you got a new recruit after EACH AND EVERY mission, even if you finished the exact same mission for the 100th time
I started gaming with the NES around 10 years old, I stopped playing video games at the age of 36. Getting the Wkc 1&2 Platinum trophies is a time I will always remember. It was a heck of a grind but the community made it worth it
Can we spam soyny to revive this game with a revamp to the combat mayne something more character action ala DMC with the full avatar story we never got? At least revamp it with some more spotlight to ypur player avatar
I played this for like 10 hrs a long time ago, but it was very time consuming to get what you wanted in the game. Fighting as the knight was sick though
they can't do them unless they team up with MonolithSoft for that to happen, which are very very slim also, Xenosaga belongs to Namco-Bandai, not Square-Enix also also, both Xeno subseries were commercial flops (with the latter even cut short in half during production of episodes 2 and 3), so they would rather focus on the IPs that worked for both of them than on those 2
I know that Nintendo and Namco are on good terms. Also if it wasn't for KOSMOS being a Monolith fan favorite they won't bother with anything Xeno related. Nintendo buying them was a great move for them. They get to make the existential RPGs they want to make and actually have a company market them. Xenogears and Saga got next to no marketing or representation. Or in Xenosaga's case the wrong kind of representation. They neglected to tell people just how much story that game had to offer. It's almost 2 hours or something before you actually enter your first non tutorial battle or something like that. Then for 2 they dumbed everything down to make the game and story to an extent more approachable. When that didn't work they said fuck it just went back to what Saga 1 work but the women are in sexier clothing for 3. That series was a mess.
@@Dr.Moogle no They didn't neglect to tell people how much story that game has to offer as Takahashi has worked his ass off on both Xenogears and Xenosaga to make sure the dev teams what he wanted to show everyone. The reason why Xenogears tanked is because of budget cuts during its development as Square focused more on FF than this then-planned Sci-fi epic franchise it got cancelled halfway through the game's production, resulting in Disc 2 being pretty much unfinished and the resulting game released as is What happened to Xenosaga is even worse but also lead to its abrupt cancellation The dev team were clashing within each other during development of Xenosaga 2 over creative freedom, which lead to a lot of staff leaving the project and lead to a disappointing game critics and sales wise This eventually lead to Xenosage 3 being officially called the conclusion of the franchise when it was originally planned to be a 6-game space epic (just like what was initially planned for Xenogears as well), which forced Takashi to cram 4 games worth of storytelling into that last one Yeah, they revert back to Saga 1 in terms of gameplay and character models, but the damage was already done to the franchise Also, while KOS-MOS became a fan favorite over time, it wasn't her popularity that lead to Takahashi working on Xenoblade as that too was planned once Nintendo bought MonolithSoft and wanted a bankable RPG to compete with the other big RPG franchises out there and so far it works Unlike SE and Namco-Bandai, Nintendo let Takashi and his team have the budget and development time to tell each game's story from top to bottom without resorting to budget cuts or creative differences, which was bankable enough as we've gotten 2 re-releases of Xeboblade 1 and a prequel-expansion for Xenoblade 2, with a possible port of XBCX on the Switch and a Xenoblade 3 in the works
I loved the Georama and on the multiplayer space, private lobbies and guilds with your adventure logs, it was like having Discord bolted into the game... I felt the multiplayer was far beyond its time. The fails was the grind and random drops along with the limited amount of missions causing repetitive play.... Other than that I would give White Knight Chronicles 2 a high 8.6 / 10 Was very good, but a tad grindy. Would love a remake and re-imagining, and hope this time the server never gets shut down.
The game was good, I got a platinum in wkc2. My personal problem was the community. Hackers were an issue in wkc2 and I couldn't get anywhere in wkc1 online. Wkc1 had super simps in it. For about 3 weeks I went online in wkc1 everyday after school and attempt to do a quest with people. I got ignored when I asked for help and I got booted from quests when a random female character joined the lobby (and they weren't friends because a lot of times they would ask her name).
My fave. game of all time. It's sad that there were so many cry babies in this game. And a lot of sensitive fken people on the online play. And some of them only wanted to be carried. Sucks that there was no way to kick them out for trade in spots. They had people just doing their own thing and the people trying to do the quest.
I remember this game it was sooo good. I enjoyed the story and grinded the crap out of it. any one remember. (Don't forget about me). Yes some aspects could be better but it was a good time. I wish they made WKC3.
Loved the games. was really hoping 3 would come and focus more on the character u create and the knight u have at the end of the 2nd game. As for the complaint about the story not diverting in the 2nd one I personally loved the seamless continuation of the story from the first. Wrapped it up nicely to send your character on an adventure for the 3rd game.
A Reboot or a re-release on PC with online mode active would be my dream! You still can play and platinum both games solo on PS3 but are INSANELY HARD and GRINDLY without the full party help. The singleplayer story was mediocre but the online was fun, the problem was the insane grind, but still cool to unlock everything and upgrade your own village
It took me like 8 hours to beat, but I'm reading it takes 25 to 30 hours to complete the main story, did I do something wrong? Why it was so short for me?
Funnily enough, I didn't mind the combat system. However one problem, I hate that if you (or an ally) die in the Knight Fights, it's game over. They don't retire from the battle, or just stay down- no, you lose outright. Meaning if the AI doesn't run from attacks or a character isn't leveled up enough, you will die. I didn't use Caesar as much when he was recruited as Leonard, I and Yulie was already strong enough. So when Leonard and Caesar had to fight the Black Knight, I hit my first big roadblock. But I won't forget the good times I had... Though I will miss it, since I ended up getting it JUST when the servers shut down.
Hopefully the game series returns as an action role playing game series. I would love to see what elements they could borrow from other action rpgs for the new games they could make. Preferably make remakes of the older games first before adding newer titles to the series.
not JRPG’s but Dragon Age Origins and Inquisition, the Star Wars KOTOR games, and Greedfall are quite similar in that they’re party based and somewhat real time, in terms of JRPGs the closest that comes to mind is Rogue Galaxy for PS2 which is available on PS4, The Last Story on Wii, Infinite Undiscovery on Xbox 360 and Shining Resonance (PS4 and Switch) are the closest i can think of unfortunately.
Currently feeling so nostalgic for this game. I personally liked it for the most part, I used to skip school and stay home and play this game all day lol. My biggest gripe was how terrible a grind online was, you literally had to do the same mission over and over for certain items if you wanted the better online weapons and it wasn't fun at all. Also I distinctly thinking Leonard was so corny literally seconds after his introduction (he grew on me though) and lastly hated that your avatar wasn't integrated in ANY sort of way in the main story, just awkwardly standing around in scenes (they could have been t-posing for as much as they were involved) Outside all that I have some good memories with this game. The thing with us jrpg fans is we don't mind tropes like amnesiac protagonists trying to save the world, we just want to get captured in that world, and for me White Knight Chronicles did a good job.
Avatar's story has just started after WKC2 never got released outside of Japan. Still playing the game and trying to Solo most MP quest, hard but damn good.
what killed this game was online hackers right before the avater story was released in jp. its funny how people call this game mid/trash story when it was all about the online... teaming up with others to farm loot to create gear (abit like monster hunter) something u DONT talk about. thats what killed this game hackers. and for its time no one else was doing. they even made dlc items for this game which again u dont talk about u are only talking about the story and not the whole picture that made 1 and 2 great games. the geo system and playing with others (or simpley chatting online with randoms) is what made this game great
Both one and 2 was amazing. So many people played it in US and imo was better then final fantasy. The gear grind the story the party up and level up was all good
I'm fairly new to JRPGs, so I've never heard of this game. The first ever JRPG I've completed was Persona 4 on the PS2, instantaneously fell in love with the game. Even tried my hand on some other SMT games. The Digital Devil Saga was one of them. It was a fantastic, albeit depressing game.
I still think a JRPG game where you can transform into a big honking knight to fight enemies is a pretty darn cool concept.

Don’t lose hope I believe it will happen one day! Or else they’ll be hearing from me 😡
I miss white knight chronicles too, but I got in pso2, and I find it to be a great substitute.
I played this game like 10 years ago, and I still almost daily have the greed downtown theme stuck in my head.
I made so many friends playing it
Really sad that it never got ported over to the PS4 or PS5.
It's too grindy for a shallow Online interactivity quite honestly. If it was an MMO it's fine. I've spent so much time on Georama than playing other games that time. I still needs nore improvement.
*hearing him talk about how this game didn't do anything new*
...are you blind?
These games let you CREATE your own combo attacks, and featured GIANT ESCAFLOWNE-STYLE ARMORED KNIGHTS
What other fantasy RPG lets you PLAY as giant armored knights? And not just in big cutscenes but in ANY BATTLE?
AND you got to customize one of them!
It was also one of the first co-op online PS3 RPGs!
This game series did so much cool shit and I'm so sad it isn't more recognized.
Getting to create your own town was great also. Recruiting npc's so you can farm different materials. Remember no town was the same it depended on what npc's you picked for your town.
This game is literally the spiritual successor to dark clouds town management system and with geonet you could do some amazing city building and could visit other people's towns like animal crossing to get exclusive rewards.
This was one my favorite ps3 games
Mine too. I believe the white knight chronicles team joined up with final fantasy 14. I don't know if they bring that up in this video or not.
Same. The multiplayer was underrated, had over 1000 hours.
@@AudioFilth i discovered the save editor after the servers shut down i was wondering why there was a guy with all of the best armor in the game who can 1 or 2 hit all of the bosses in dungeons
@@free_icecream76 it’s too bad none of the Japan dlc/expansion never saw light in the states, would of kept the game alive for at least two more years.
its my favorite game ever, maybe we played together
Bruh, a sleuth of memories came flooding back! I hadn't heard the name White Knight Chronicles in forever!
The geos and character creation were my favorite. Online co-op was initiated by going to someones geo, and the game had a little bulletin board. It was kinda like a in-game internet.
Geo-net! :D
All the hours soloing OGIT2 to raise my GR. So many memories
yep :-)
I remember having a set of gear just for blasting treant kneecaps in OGIT.
Sony shut down Japan Studio and moved to the states , messed up the chat and party system , killed communities . I am worried this is The beginning of the end x Playstation one dumb move after another
Also killed off legacy content sales and is going to kill of legacy PS Stores soon.
I love this game so much. When they took the servers down, they should have added the ability to host your own multilayer sessions.
I wish the Clementine Group which revived Phantasy Star Universe and gave it its online capabilities would work on this game and give it an online service and pc Port like they did PSU.
I wish they would do a remake/remaster of this for real!
@@michaelcinelli4120 can agree. They need to alao give the avatar story a full translation
Same thing that happened to Dark Cloud and Rouge Galaxy. Never to be seen again.
This game was everything to me. I played it all the time when I was 12.
I don't care if server went down years ago, Im still going to platinum this game someday.
Same here I'm playing it now
@@terrellcatoe I will beat this just like you 2 some day....
Got my WKC2 plat a few weeks before the servers died.

you cant platinum this game solo.
@@mathieudoucet1446 you can it's very hard but you can, the difficult trophy is getting getting 50 missions on S rank, is doable if you have the right build, there are guides in the internet to get the platinum solo.
Damn I was just thinking about this game a few days ago! one of my favorites in high school. I really miss the making your own village feature they shut down that online so fast it was sad
i put in like 1500 hours into the game, was more epic than Witcher 3 and World of Warcraft
They need to remake it from the ground up; much as I like it, a good few of the mechanics need refining (the ability panels and combat, binding, drop rates, action chips, the Knight system, the georama) or removal (the guild rank level locks, probably the mmo aspect outside of guild quests). I know I’m late to the party but I was just thinking about this. A remake with combat gameplay more like the ffvii remake would be amazing
@@forest_riku3737 ooh, maybe you could link the skills you learned together into separate combos like God Hand
This was co developed by Japan Studio and Level 5 (Ni No Kuni)
White knight chronicles 2 was so kick ass. Some friends and me had a huge clan with the online and we had some really good times.
The simplicity of this game made it great in its own right. The story wasn't bad, but the gameplay, the music, the great areas and enemies was all there. I am just sad the dlc that came out in JP never came over to the Us.
I relate with this comment in many ways.
Same
This game has such a big impact on my life.
White knight chronicles is one of my favorite games to this and if Sony remastered it for the ps5 I'd get it again.
Right. Over 2k hours just on the first game. Would play again, would reccomend.
I think they should reboot this and make it a MMO in the vain of tower of fantasy, genshin impact. With that awesome transformation gimmick that turns you into a huge knight, I think it would do really well.
WKC 1& 2 were the first RPG's I ever played so to me it's my gold standard I compare other games to it, sad we probably won't get another.
Kinda sad this game is really a cult game instead of ms, really loved this game
I still hope that one day they surprise all white knight fans with a new game. It's one off my all time favorites.
I pray to god everyday for a white knight chronicles 3. The online pve was amazing!
Dont know why this game was ahead of its time how it implemented the online with the regular game they should've kept making them and should reboot this franchise i liked building own town people could visit on line and upgrade gears everything about it was amazing
I really don't care what others think this game was just way ahead of his time and it's really needed to be brought back
This video doesn't do the game justice, WKC2 was supported in JP for way longer, and had twice the online content released compared to NA/EU.
True we never got the Juicy Avatar Arc, that people have been waiting for since part 1.
How dare this game be insulted like this!! This guy probably couldn't solo an Ancient Dragon by himself!!!
😂😂😂😂😂
I feel that is because they stopped taking chances with new concepts and ideas.
@@Tygari I agree. Even if the idea isn't perfect. If it's different enough and done well. People will give it a chance.
to this day, WKC remainds my favourite game on the PS3, the story was typical, and the gameplay was "fine"... but what made it stand out was the knights. this game had quite a unique concept that i have not found a match for since. it was unrefined and predictable yes, and i think the Avatar could have had some more love throughout the length of both games but...
i will love this game regardless, despite its flaws, there is a special place in my heart for this series, i was there when it came out, i was there when the servers went down... and was there when the game was officially considered dead. to this day i come back to it every year or so to experience the game and all it has to offer again and again.
I would sell a kidney to get a private server for any WKC game.
i remember playing with these game with my white knight friends. There were no such thing as toxic assholes that time.
I really wanted to like WKC because I was intrigued by the idea of being a sidekick to the main character, but I hated that your character gets ignored completely for 95% of both games.
Lol Your character gets the love it deserved in the online storyline.
The best thing about this game was the online community that was fantastic and had fun ways to do builds. I really enjoyed this game. Anyone know anything similar I played this online all the way tell server shutdown
WKC were amazing games, not for the single player experience that was indeed quite underwhelming, but for the stragely fun and addictive online part, especially 'cause for some reason the community was VERY good/friendly, easily one of the very best in my many years of expereince in playing MMOs
Even after all these years i still play together with 5 of my old guildmembers that i met in wkc.....
Left us on a cliff hanger after WKC2 ending.... ooof and canceled online services...
lmfao I still have both games still
I loved this game series. I liked both WKC, and WKC2, and yes I got the special edition that both games on it. I would love to see it return either as a 3rd game that picks up after WKC2's cliffhanger ending, or a reboot.
I still own this game part 1 and 2 and it’s my favorite game
I would love a new and/remake of WKC :). Despite that I still play them on my PS3.
id rather have a smoothed out remaster with online than a remake most remakes mess with the story to much the story was/is good
So much potential, we need it back
Really enjoyed this game, such a shame we didn't get a sequel or even the full avatar story
I would love to replay WKC I was gutted there wasn't going to be another
White knight chronicles is now on the PlayStation premium service!!!
😭😭
WKC was a game I pre ordered and enjoyed when I received it. Part 2 just expanded the story but did nothing else. It would be great if they fully remade the 3 games and but them on the PS5 along with finishing the series with a WKC3. I Would buy it. 💵
This game crosses my mind every few months and the friends I lost because of the online shutting down
i thought it was excellent
it did not excel in any aspect alone (at least at first glance), but the overall experience made it an amazing game.
I thought it was supposed to be a trilogy. Loved the concept of mideval power ranger zords and you get to build your own in the second game
What's sad is the only chance I get to play this is on ps4 on ps now, I don't own the consoles the discs work for, and it sucks, the idea of the game was so fucking cool
ard to take this review seriously anymore once you said the PSP version was better. How even? It looked so bad.
A damn shame that the games didn't perform very well and died because I for one really enjoyed playing it
I fucking love these games. Yes there was two. Love both.
I LOVED WNC! This is still one of my favorite games.
Such a good game!!! MMORPG feel, without having to see random ass people in the field... loved it!!!
My problem with White Knight Chronicles was that it was too much of a fusion between Final Fantasy and Power Rangers, another problem i had with it is that you got a new recruit after EACH AND EVERY mission, even if you finished the exact same mission for the 100th time
Level-5 Games co-developed this game, by the way.
I started gaming with the NES around 10 years old, I stopped playing video games at the age of 36. Getting the Wkc 1&2 Platinum trophies is a time I will always remember. It was a heck of a grind but the community made it worth it
I liked these games, someone stole mine, both 1 and 2.
Can we spam soyny to revive this game with a revamp to the combat mayne something more character action ala DMC with the full avatar story we never got? At least revamp it with some more spotlight to ypur player avatar
I really enjoy the music of this game, walking on the long way to destination and listening to soundtrack feel so calming and relaxing.
i’ll never forget the thousands of hours i poured into doing big red online or farming ancient dragons until i got all my lances 😂
Played the first one on PS3 was super short and disappointing, I didn't care for the series after it.
I played this for like 10 hrs a long time ago, but it was very time consuming to get what you wanted in the game. Fighting as the knight was sick though
Im hoping they will remake a xenogears or xenosaga games.. square enix needs to step up their game
they can't do them unless they team up with MonolithSoft for that to happen, which are very very slim
also, Xenosaga belongs to Namco-Bandai, not Square-Enix
also also, both Xeno subseries were commercial flops (with the latter even cut short in half during production of episodes 2 and 3), so they would rather focus on the IPs that worked for both of them than on those 2
I know that Nintendo and Namco are on good terms.
@@Dr.Moogle no
They didn't neglect to tell people how much story that game has to offer as Takahashi has worked his ass off on both Xenogears and Xenosaga to make sure the dev teams what he wanted to show everyone.
The reason why Xenogears tanked is because of budget cuts during its development as Square focused more on FF than this then-planned Sci-fi epic franchise it got cancelled halfway through the game's production, resulting in Disc 2 being pretty much unfinished and the resulting game released as is
What happened to Xenosaga is even worse but also lead to its abrupt cancellation
The dev team were clashing within each other during development of Xenosaga 2 over creative freedom, which lead to a lot of staff leaving the project and lead to a disappointing game critics and sales wise
This eventually lead to Xenosage 3 being officially called the conclusion of the franchise when it was originally planned to be a 6-game space epic (just like what was initially planned for Xenogears as well), which forced Takashi to cram 4 games worth of storytelling into that last one
Yeah, they revert back to Saga 1 in terms of gameplay and character models, but the damage was already done to the franchise
Also, while KOS-MOS became a fan favorite over time, it wasn't her popularity that lead to Takahashi working on Xenoblade as that too was planned once Nintendo bought MonolithSoft and wanted a bankable RPG to compete with the other big RPG franchises out there and so far it works Unlike SE and Namco-Bandai, Nintendo let Takashi and his team have the budget and development time to tell each game's story from top to bottom without resorting to budget cuts or creative differences, which was bankable enough as we've gotten 2 re-releases of Xeboblade 1 and a prequel-expansion for Xenoblade 2, with a possible port of XBCX on the Switch and a Xenoblade 3 in the works
I loved the Georama and on the multiplayer space, private lobbies and guilds with your adventure logs, it was like having Discord bolted into the game... I felt the multiplayer was far beyond its time.
The fails was the grind and random drops along with the limited amount of missions causing repetitive play.... Other than that I would give White Knight Chronicles 2 a high 8.6 / 10
Was very good, but a tad grindy.
This is a remake or remaster I really want
My fave. game of all time. It's sad that there were so many cry babies in this game. And a lot of sensitive fken people on the online play. And some of them only wanted to be carried. Sucks that there was no way to kick them out for trade in spots. They had people just doing their own thing and the people trying to do the quest.
Loved this game.
I dropped hundreds of hours in this game. I absolutely loved it. Would really like for a remaster for current gen with the georama back open.
It's like the one in Vision of Escaflowne
Hopefully the game series returns as an action role playing game series. I would love to see what elements they could borrow from other action rpgs for the new games they could make. Preferably make remakes of the older games first before adding newer titles to the series.
I plat this on PS3, so much fun with my online buddies who I no longer had contact with. Thanks for the memories.
can anybody suggest some more JRPG with similar combat systems,I've played Xenoblade Chronicles1+2, FF12. Any others to recommend?
not JRPG’s but Dragon Age Origins and Inquisition, the Star Wars KOTOR games, and Greedfall are quite similar in that they’re party based and somewhat real time, in terms of JRPGs the closest that comes to mind is Rogue Galaxy for PS2 which is available on PS4, The Last Story on Wii, Infinite Undiscovery on Xbox 360 and Shining Resonance (PS4 and Switch) are the closest i can think of unfortunately.
Also I distinctly thinking Leonard was so corny literally seconds after his introduction (he grew on me though) and lastly hated that your avatar wasn't integrated in ANY sort of way in the main story, just awkwardly standing around in scenes (they could have been t-posing for as much as they were involved)
Outside all that I have some good memories with this game. The thing with us jrpg fans is we don't mind tropes like amnesiac protagonists trying to save the world, we just want to get captured in that world, and for me White Knight Chronicles did a good job.
Avatar's story has just started after WKC2 never got released outside of Japan. Still playing the game and trying to Solo most MP quest, hard but damn good.
what killed this game was online hackers right before the avater story was released in jp. its funny how people call this game mid/trash story when it was all about the online... teaming up with others to farm loot to create gear (abit like monster hunter) something u DONT talk about. thats what killed this game hackers. and for its time no one else was doing. they even made dlc items for this game which again u dont talk about u are only talking about the story and not the whole picture that made 1 and 2 great games. the geo system and playing with others (or simpley chatting online with randoms) is what made this game great
Uh sony japan didnt create white knight chronicles. It was level 5. Thats like saying dark cloud 1 and 2 are sony games
I miss Japan Studio. Gravity Rush, Freedom Wars, Shadow of the Colossus
