An excellent rendition of this. I am dying to see a Rick Nielsen instructional video. He's like an encyclopedia of rock licks--and his wacked-out hyperactive style is awesome. Seeing Rick in a chair. This is a cool vid of a great tune.
I agree.... Why isn't Cheap Trick in the Rock n Roll hall of fame?? Their first album is an absolute master piece, and they hadn't even released Surrender nor I want you to want me. They have more musical talent than so many more inductees. Great vid...
"The title came from a photographer the band knew in it's early days. The gentleman's name was Marshall Mintz and they affectionately called him "Candy", and he commited suicide in the mid 70's."
Dear "mrspence2007" You obviously are either too young to know or you don't sing. Zander is still singing the Cheap Trick songs in their original key..What this means in this case is the man is singing a song as he recorded it more than 30 years ago!!.... Check out 99% of all singers who still tour many years later... they pretty much lower the songs so they can hit the high notes... Robin still hits em!!!
i think it might be anguish, this song is written for, and about the bands fitst manager, whose name was i beleive marshall mathers(M.M.=Candy, the bands nick name for him) who committed suicide early in the bands career
Marshall Mathers sounded just a bit too Eminem-ish, lol. However the above is just copied all over YT, so maybe that was not his real name either. I do believe the friend/photographer part is correct though.
Robin's voice ... just amazing.
A nice version to remember their first photographer and friend, Marshall Mintz. Thanks for sharing.
loooove hearing some of toms vocals :)
honestly - it does not get any better than this! what a song... anybody who has had tragedy strike them can appreciate this awesome song!
Brilliant rendition. They still have it.
This is my favorite version of this song.
One of my favorites by CT... thanks for posting

Did Robin injury his voice chords or something? Everytime he sings he looks in extreme pain.
No he's just really singing into the song, and it's a sad song for him

I don't know. Does his voice sound injured or something? Sounds fine to me.
