Why I regret buying the GH6:
- I will never use Prores as long as I live.
- You have to use the CF Express card, which I can't use with my computer (unless I buy an adapter)
- The flip screen makes it much bulkier than GH5
- The screen is smaller, or at least the images on the screen are. Hard to see. Another case for using a monitor -- but that obviates the need for the tilt screen
- Uses battery juice like crazy -- stock up on batteries
- Has a whole bunch of video style settings I'll never use, frame rates, etc.
- It doesn't have 420 8 bit, so I can't match exactly with my GH5s
- The dynamic range boost doesn't really do anything for my taste
- The super hi-res photo feature sounds cool until you realize you're just going to compress the image anyway, and the regular resolution was just as good without the fuss
- Some settings only work with CF Express and SSD. You either get a big CF express card/be diligent about wiping it, or you shoot to the SSD -- which better be big -- and is bulky, so you have to take it off to put the camera away
- A cage (or at least, a cold shoe mount) is necessary if you want to use an SSD
- The buttons are smaller and looser -- the joystick requires two bumps, which seems to be a feature, not a bug; I've done more accidental shutter presses on the GH6 than on other cameras

Interesting video, I use much more my GH5 than my GH6 for video because I prefer the fine details rendering of the GH5. The GH6 has less moiré but at the cost of the fine details, they are not as close as a raw picture like on the GH5.
It's a shame because the colors of the GH6 are really really great. So I mainly use the GH6 for photos and the GH5 for videos.
I also own the G9II, but I'm selling it, the colors are not as good as the GH6 and the fine details in video are the same than the GH6, maybe even slightly worse.
Again, it's a shame because the DR BOOST at base ISO, the AF and IBIS of the G9II are excellent.
At the end of the day, I'm tired of Panasonic cameras, they could release the perfect camera but each time they miss the track while lowering the image quality like they did with the S5II compared to the S5.
I always bought their new "flagship" cameras since the GH4 but I'm disappointed since the GH6 and the S5II. It's nice to finally get good AF and slightly better IBIS but if the image quality is not as good as before, what the point ? Each time I crop in my video to zoom or resize, the S5 and S1 looks much better than the S5II.
I still hope the S1II and GH7 will be as good as the S1 and the GH5 were in their time. If not, it will be time to move on after more than 10 years with Panasonic.

@aiseurnae5976, wow thanks so much for taking the time to write all these and I totally agree with you. I pickup and use my GH5 more than the GH6. You explained it very well and I have the same sentiment and in my opinion and experience using the GH series years ago and starting with the GH2, a lot has changed. I remember back in the day I was so blown away by the image quality coming from the GH2 and that’s why I kept using the GH cameras since then. The GH6 is definitely a great camera but I realized that it wasn’t for me. That orange tint color of the GH6 is one of the reasons why it’s about time for me to finally move on to Sony after using the FX30’s S-Log3. There’s definitely a solution to get rid of the orange tint, but it’s another step for me to think about. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts. Panasonic didn't just "lower their image quality." They added Phase Detect Auto Focus and that kills image quality. Lumix kept warning everyone about this for years, which is why they wanted to continue to perfect their DFD AF... but of course everyone kept begging for it, so they finally made the change.
I'm sure image quality in Gen 2 PDAF cameras will be a little better, but for now... it took a major hit.

@@Studiotek I'm sure this is not PDAF for various reasons.
I can't see an issue with fine details on my A7III and IV in good light, and yet both cameras use PDAF.
But more important, the linear profiles on the S5II are much worse than V-Log (even more sharpening and altered details), and yet these profiles use PDAF.
And finally, when using BRAW on the S5II, fine details are as good as on the old gen S1 and S5, and again the camera uses PDAF even when recording in BRAW.
So the issue is their new processing, most likely the new L² engine.

Does the FX30 crop in 60 FPS? or just in 4K60?

@_ac_7649, thanks for your question! There's no additional crop when filming in 4K 60p. 👌🏾 The only crop is from the 6K sensor when downsampling the image to 4K which has a slight 1.04x crop. For 4K 120p though, there's an additional crop of 1.62x. I appreciate your question and thank you for watching! 🙏🏽

You are what you master. All the GH line require mastery, as most cams do. The GH6 LOOKS like a machine (points right there, LOL) But yes... The FX30 is very pretty. That 5.7k on the gh6 makes a HUGE difference though! Sooo yes, you just lost some detail.

@amirleon996, yes I totally agree with you. 👌🏾 And I can attest to that from using the GH2 all the way to the GH6. Tried these cameras extensively. These are the tools for the job. And no doubt the GH6 is a beast of a camera and there’s no discounting that, unfortunately the FX30 in the type of filming and work I do best suits my needs instead of the GH6. But I understand your sentiment and where you’re coming from. I appreciate your thoughts and thanks for watching the video! 🙏🏾
