There isn't going to be a siege, your grace"- Ser Richard Horpe Rip my loyal kingsmen Ser Richard Horpe, Justin Massey, Nambert Storm, and Ser Godry the giantslayer.
Fuck Clayton Suggs though. Still, RIP to the most loyal knights in Westeros, and RIP to the one true king of the seven kingdoms. PS: Mannis lives and we await his return in the winds of winter
I really cried when he died pointlessly. Now that we approach the end of this trainwreck of a show, people can finally see how bad the writing is without George.
"The world will be mine at sunrise!" - Dany "The world isn't going to be yours, Khaleesi." - Tyrion. They look across the field and see a lone Stannis in full mannis mode riding towards them, they all run back to their ships and sail for Meereen. To develop a battle plan on how they can beat the mannis walking the field.
So unless everything from the finale of season 4 onwards has been a dream of spring through the winds of winter, it is ruined and to be hated, if you care about the characters on the books and whatever part of their perfomance on the show was worth it.
And seemingly, the man who would rather starve for his brother together with his men suffering the same as the common soldier and the common people trapped at Storm's End is an evil man driven by ambition... these foockin' showrunners
We saw the signs in season 5, they didn't listen. We saw the awful Arya plot in season 6, they didn't listen. Then they got season 7 and season 8 and the finally understood how shit D&D really are.
I had watched GoT prior to reading the books and I never understood the appeal of Stannis, he appeared to me as a bloody religious fanatic. It took reading one chapter and the whole perspective shifted.
I was his man since the night of the Blackwater many years ago. His perseverance, his values, and his sense of justice will forever live on in those that followed him. I was with you until the end, Your Grace. You will always be my king.
they could have just left out the dorne plot and focused it all on stannis, his great speech on what robert would do to roose bolton. Or him taking deepwotte mott from the ironborn.
When they started on the show they intended not to include Dorne at all in the series(Hence, they left out "the Rhoynar" out from the kings title in early seasons), but D&D hastily changed their mind when they got their hands on Ellaria Sands actor and saw her talent(Yes, THE WHOLE PLOT WAS HASTILY INCLUDED SO THEY COULD SHOW MORE OF INDINA VARMA). Fuck D&D
Apparently Stannis is confirmed to be dead... this show will be a lot more empty without him. I'm more impacted by his death than the Red Wedding. That whole episode was just... brutal. When he burnt Shireen I felt disappointed in him, but I also felt a shitload of pity. In his eyes he was doing the right thing, trying to live by his principles. When Davos wanted to spare Gendry, Stannis had said "what is the value of one bastard child's life compared to the lives of all the children in Westeros?" and even now he burns his own daughter in an act of conviction. What he did to Shireen is reprehensible... cruel... but Stannis himself knows that pain. He loved Shireen... but he also loved duty. A lesser man would have chosen family over duty, but Stannis... he sacrificed everything he loved. I hate him for killing Shireen but at the same time I can't help but reluctantly admire his will... even if it was a character assassination. Stannis deserved to win after all that... sigh. Damn Ramsay
+fl333r Davos was right on several occasions. However, as the saying goes, expect the un-expected. The Battle of Black Water Bay was well indeed Stannis victor. Till the Combine army of Tyrel and Lannister came upon him. Burning his daughter was an Ill omen. And it resulted on his lost. His wife hang her self. Half his army deserted. Red hair women road off like a heathen runnning from a preacher. He was doomed.
He doesn't burn his daughter in the books. It's just one more way of the directors to show their incompetence and that they don't care about the character at all.
The first time I read the quote of the books about "Sacrifice... is never easy, ser Davos, or it is no true sacrifice" I thought, "Well, he isn't supposed to feel it so deeply for a nephew whose very conception grits him even more than usual, why does he think like that" like, I know Stannis is fundamentally a very good person with too much issues born from "I did my fealty through service, so do your thing as overlord and give me rewards for fealty against such odds", but he was not that deeply attached to the boy, even though Shireen was, so, like, something strange there. Then, time after, the first time I heard about the theory of Shireen being sacrificed, seemed ridiculous to me. Curiously, I was convinced of that theory not long before Season 5 started, and I never expected they would go so quick into the whole "marching to Winterfell" quest, since Stannis had to do a bit of politicking and logistics before it, so in a few months had to be convinced and then WATCH what I will later read (though in a naturally grown context, not such a contrived mess)
@LordGroyper Of course it is Lannister gold. I've been looking at Lannister gold all my life. Go on, Lord of fucking Groyper, tell me that's not Lannister gold.
Even when they were butchering his character arc, D&D couldn't help but give Stannis one last badass moment before his death - marching into certain defeat with his head held high and his hand on his sword, ready to face the cavalry charge.
" the screen play is supervised and actually planned by the writer himself," season 5 wasn´t as GRRm confirmed himself. He wanted to focus on his new book instead as the new season would take place in it.
Hence why they jumped the shark with absurd storylines. GRRM sold his rights, but I think he could convince them to tell them why those storylines would not have made the slightest sense
Stannis was the one true king We never see his like again He sacrefice everything He played the game of trones And lost everything All hail king stannis And now his watch has ended
we never saw stannis die on screen, my best guess would be that he killed brienne quickly and then assumed her personality which is why she acted so strange in season 6
+P-Ball That Mofo from South-East Asia He turns to look and pretty much he see's the Boltons salling out to meet him. Pulls out his sword. And goes"Fuck it, let's go bro." Ends up getting slaughter with his entire army.
If they ever remaster and do a more faithful TV adaptation of ASOIAF actually utilizing Stannis' proper character, you bet THIS will be playing as Stannis lays ruin to the Bolton held winterfell.
Stannis' Last Stand that part where he pulled out his sword gave me chills... Just like the chills that I got the further into the series, knowing how badly they butchered his storyline.
The dragon queen and her army marching to Kings Landing when the suddenly see a lone rider is seem riding straight toward them from a distance. STANNIS THE ONE TRUE KING WITH THE FULL MIGHT OF WESTEROS!!!
The fact we will never see Stephen playing book Stannis pisses me off. Game of thrones had a stroke in season 5. There was setup and payoff to the series’s demise. The shafting of Stannis’s character was one of the catalysts for the whole series coming crashing down by the end.
