Underrated soundtrack. Everyone just thinks Vice City has the best soundtrack but this game is just as good if not better.

Kingrai 15 Vice City Stories is set in 1984, the earliest setting in the whole series. Vic Vance was discharged from the army for running drugs for Jerry Martinez, thus sparking the events that would happen in Vice City and so on..

I used to love the sunset in this game, purple, orange and pink.
Also the combat was good, used to love breaking necks.
One thing i really liked about VCS is how Rockstar went overboard on the color pallete. Everything from the neon lights, sky, sunlight, buildings etc. is so much more vibrant, colorful and bright compared to VC. I love it.
Besides a few gameplay additions like the ability to do drivebys, swim, ride jetskis etc. the original VC still is the superior game imo.
Gameplay wise i prefer VCS i iust love the fact that we could finally swim in VC

My favorite GTA game ever. San Andreas might be the best one ever made since it has so much more in it and was huge for its time but there’s something special about VCS that makes it my favorite. Maybe it’s the soundtrack or story or too much VC nostalgia, idk what. But I hope you guys know my feeling about this game

-Both characters start off as good guys and then die at the end of their eras.
-Both characters become corrupt trying to do the good thing.
-Both characters have family members that make their lives harder for no good reason.
-Both characters turn to the life of crime to provide for their families.
-Both characters deserved more then what they've been dealt with.

What also wasn't mentioned, besides helicopters, you can fly a plane as well, that can be spawned on water at the pier of the last safehouse, you can rob stores whenever you want, and there are several options during fighting: light punch/jab with circle, hard punch/uppercut with X, and grab and throw people with triangle, or hit them while holding them. You can even do an instant kill by breaking necks with triangle from the back. And with the "issue" of close enemies during shooting, you can kick them away and then shoot them. Also you can go to a Phil Collins concert anytime you want. I can go on even more ! My favourite GTA... 😪

This game along with LCS and CW are sadly quite underrated, I wish if more of GTA fans and casual GTA players *cough* GTA Online...would have played these games.
It's called Beach Patrol btw. You get in a BF Injection and the mission starts. 😜
Chinatown Wars is underrated because barely ads and when in stores. Only thing they showed was GTA4. Not really CW.

I like the fact that Victor receives just a little amount of money for most of his jobs. It's explained right in the beginning, when he tells that he's helping his brother Pete (this is where the rest of the money is going). I know it stops making sense once Lance and Vic gets rich; anyway it makes your character more realistic and the experience more immersive.
The money is for treating Pete Vance's asthma not Lance Vance BTW. Anyways that's a really good theory.

@@chrisdelgado4621 yeah recently I was thinking about this installment in the series and I came around to the same conclusion it's a great game for the reasons you've stated when. It came to vice city and San Andreas Rockstar definitely got the 80s and 90s atmospheres correct
Christian Black I prefer SA, IV and V myself due to the more refined gameplay and bigger worlds, but I can definitely see why one would pick VC or even VCS as their favorite.
I love your reviews because you really give context of the time period when the game launched. Most channels that review old games totally treat them as something that was lunched today and criticize the hell out of them, even though they were ground-braking at the time.
Why hasn’t Rockstar made a mobile port of this, yet? I want the entire 3D era of GTA on mobile, dammit.

Hesusio bruh they got that name because they introduced fully three dimensional game graphics. Before it wasn’t as 3D and it was top down. That’s why. It’s only used to clarify the games before GTA 3 and after.
Got a ps2 and this game for christmas 2007 when I was 9 years old (awesome parenting lol). I didn't understand anything they were saying and I sucked but I had an awesome time. I remember I didn't want to progress in the game because I hated that you couldn't enter the army base freely anymore.

saving and loading the game actually stops the enemy gangs from attacking your properties. also if the properties aren't already damaged then they can survive one attack so it easier to just let the gang damage it and repair it later.
still no talks on the "warehouse" mission where you should move the explosives on a timer? that shit is hard AF

you think *Boomshine Blowout* blowout was hard. Well try THESE mission instead:
- *Jive Drive* : its easy on PSP due to "steady aim" feature, but its fcking hard on PS2 due to wobbly analogue + lack of "steady aim"
- *Hose The Hoes* : put out the fire from your Brothel. Worse yet, the Girl's health deplete so fast & it could lead to mission failure if you're not fast enough to put out the fire
- *Unfriendly Competition* : first part no problem. BUT, the real deal on these mission is during the Pool shootout sequence. this place is crawled with enemies & most of them are using AK's + Uzi's and it could nerve racking for beginner
- *High Wire* : catch the moving car with magnet attached chopper. Damn
- *Purple Haze* : retrieve the drugs with time limit, CHECK. disorienting visual screw, CHECK. cops intervene, CHECK
- *The Exchange* : same as Jive Drive, but this time using Sniper
- *Domo Arigato Domestoboto* : CRACK THE SAVE (code 8423)
- *Light My Pyre* : you have to protect Lance + he's driving horribly & you could accidentally kill him if you're not careful

People use to like San Andreas because it was big, innovative and had a awesome storyline with great characters.
But, VCS has everything San Andreas has, but in a portable console. That's what makes VCS so phenomenal.
It's a real shame Rockstar Leeds never got to make anything for the Ps Vita. The Vita would have had a massive boost if it had an exclusive GTA game at launch.

They usually kill the characters if they don’t sell well
Same. Both characters got killed in ways the protagonist didn’t wanna be involved in. Vic didn’t wanna be involved with the drugs trade yet did anyway and it got him killed. Johnny didn’t wanna be involved with Ashley and her meth addiction, yet he did anyway, causing him to grow an obsession with Ashley, leading to him confronting Trevor and dying. And the sad part about this is, it’s the protagonists’ closest friends that got them killed. Lance got Vic involved in the drugs trade and Ashley got Johnny caught up in the meth addiction

After playing Vice City Stories, despite Rockstar confirming it, I just cannot see Vic Vance being the one who was killed in the beginning of Vice City, seems like it was Pete Vance for me.
After all the bull$#it he's been through, with the betrayal of Jerry Martinez, their conflict with the Mendez brothers, with the ongoing problems he's having with Lance and the death of his love Louis, no doubt in my mind he was done with everyone and Vice City.
The first chronological GTA game is made last... while the first GTA game is chronologically last. Kinda a cool wrap up for the 3D era.
The empire building feature, and the city enviroment is what makes me love this game.
One of my favorite moments from Rdr2 atm is when I was talking to John Marston and Arthur made fun of him for not beeing able to swim :D

I started watching your channel yesterday and I was like "why is there no VCS review". And now here it is
IMO probably the best game of this generation of GTA, which says a lot. Combines the athestics of vice city with the gameplay of San andreas, which imo more than makes up for kind of a weak main character. Its sad poor sales and significant licensing including the Phil Collins concert mission means we won't get a mobile version...
I have to disagree with Vic being slightly weak, I prefer him to Tony Cipriani and probably Tommy Vercetti.
Vic is weak? Bro he’s the most human 3D universe protagonist, AND he is badass
@@someguy8951 He's better than Tony, and I actually enjoyed him as protagonist, but his motivations I found kind of weak for a GTA protagonist. I played it again, and yeah, he's a bit of a pushover and admittedly a little whiny. That said, he's pretty well rounded which is more than I can say for Tommy.

He actually wanted to provide for his family and Luise and was against drugs in the beginning and then reluctant to do drug dealing later . And what about Tommy ? your average Tony Montana Knock off with no vulnerabilities that just wants power over the entire city....how does that make him any different from the Mendez brothers ? it seems that storytelling improved in rockstar games along the years
Wish they did a San Andreas Stories.- maybe with Claude returning.
There's also planes in the game and an amphibious ATV called Splitz-6 ATV. Once you finish the Beach Patrol side-mission you can swim forever without losing any stamina or dying. There's a trick where you can save the game, then restart the console and you won't get raided or attacked by any gangs anymore until you attack them again.
EDIT: There's also BMXs in this game and quad bikes AND a special unique helicopter that you can buy from the top of your Suite called Little Willie - it has machine guns on it.

Best in the series, where as LCS was best selling VCS was the most underrated and was the real GOAT
And the thing is that the original Vice City was meant to be expanded upon and have more to it for you know some features were added into VCS

Great video and awesome game. I bought it on the PSN and I was pleasantly surprised by how great the game was (San Andreas controls in Vice City setting)
I wish you could've said more about the soundtrack. The game wouldn't truly be the same without it, more than any other GTA game.
Not to mention, there's the tweaks to the map that makes it a ton better than Vice City. For starters, mainland is no longer a dump, Vice City is goddamn gorgeous at night, and the addition of a lot of small things to make the map less empty.

To be honest I never played it before, just Vice City. I play on an emulator now. Some details are better than in Vice City like colors of the neon lights, the sky is more vibrant, some of the music is even better and the whole atmosphere in general is epic. I like that it´s possible to make Gang Wars and recruit people just like in San Andreas. Ambush buildings and conquer territory. But to bad Rockstar did not pay any attention to this anymore... a good PC Port and port for newer consoles would be great.

While it still didn't offer all the features San Andreas did this was one of the best GTA games by far in terms of story and gameplay. It also had superior side missions to even GTA 4 or 5.

vcs also has alot of blur compared to lcs i think developers use that as a trick to hide and smoothen jagged edges and textures which helps games age well
Finished it in a few weeks and wanted more fun missions and lots of action great review
You just have to reload your savegame and the attacks stop until you attack a business.
Few mistakes here.
-The driving is different from vice city massively in regards to traction
-You actually can crouch in vice city, San Andreas did not invent it in the series.
My idea is that the Vic in Vice City was a body double, and Lance just lied about it to use Tommy.
for me, Vic went back to Dominican republic to take care his brother Pete and he also quit being a criminal because he didn't like being one

This is personally the first gta game I've ever played back on the PS2 and I've never managed to finish it. And around ten years later I started to replay it again on my brother's old PsP this time, and this is freaking amazing. I almost finished the story and I'm going for the 100%!

@@someguy8951 I already did these ones :) Actually I just got the 99 balloons, the special stunts, the rodeo challenges, the hunter side mission and the main missions left I think. And it was not really that boring actually, these missions aren't very long. I think I'm at 86% of the game or something like that. It's actually probably the only gta game where I actually have fun trying to make the 100%. I really like how the red balloons are positioned, they can be bound to a building, or be positioned at the ground floor. I really have fun trying to find all these balloons by flying with the helicopter all around the map trust me ^^

The phil collins part was really cool
Love VCS, it's in my top 3 GTA games (behind the original VC which is my all-time favourite). Massively enjoyable, unlike LCS which I've tried to complete multiple times but it's just too boring. And I feel like they one-upped the atmosphere of Vice City by putting neon lighting everywhere and having an arguably better soundtrack with Phil Collins. In The Air Tonight should be in every GTA game. I was hoping VCS would come to PS4 as an upscaled classic and despite getting classification for it, it just never ended up releasing which is a shame. I would've loved to play it in HD. I guess I could use PCSX2.
14 years later and no Mobile port or pc port and still no Gta 6. SMH. If ur going to release gta LCS for mobile the u should have released vcs too. If ur going to take 4 months time to release a gta Update then u should multitask and do other stuff

You should review Saints Row 2! Excellent sandbox game. Just make sure to play one of the console versions, as the PC port is bad.
The other SR games are also pretty great, but not as good and varied as 2

I still think it's a shame that we never got a San Andreas stories type game. Playing as one of the other main characters are even a character that wasn't in the game. But alas we got GTA 4, which for the time was a great game.
Vice city was more beautiful looking in this game.
This was the first one I played before being a huge gta fan, it will always remain my favourite one.

The news came out late last year, they have registered the ratings for the games on PS4 - www.psu.com/news/gta-vice-city-and-liberty-city-stories-ps4-release-leaked/ - hopefully it will come sometime before Red Dead 2
If it does, it'll probably have cut music since the game is over ten years old.

I found this game to be really cheap in difficulty like lc stories. I never passed the level where the cuban guy has a heart attack.
When I was playing that mission the first time, it felt hard. But you could just gone through the backroads to completely avoid all enemies on the road, I believe. That's what I did. The mission High Wire and The Exchange was more a pain to complete. The Exchange because the Truck you're supposed to drive can be easily destroyed if you don't get it repaired.

I'll go ahead and say what reviewers can't: Vice City Stories runs great on an emulator. Definitely worth it if your pc can handle pcsx

I think ppsspp is easier on lower spec PCs
