The only problem with using dip baits is 98% of what you catch are simply too small to keep. If you like channel catfish that’s what you’ll be catching. Don’t even think about catching a flathead, ain’t happening

Spinning rod with the baitcaster reel. Gotta love it. Once had a product called johnny jumpers... same thing. Catch plenty catfish, but don't get it on you at any cost.

If your every in a pinch i find expired balogna works good for cat fish and old bacon works really good for turtles. Dont ask. I know at times u can get both on both but mainly what i got was the results above.

Now I use chicken breast soak in liver and liver blood along with shrimp from Walmart and live cut bait I catch with my jigging pole. Now I catch way bigger flatheads, channel cats and blue cats. Get them at night til early morning. Happy fishing. Fish on

the number of people I see using the wrong rod and reel combo is crazy. I saw a woman last week so mad that her combo wouldn’t cast. It was an upside down baitcaster rod with a spinning reel.
And thats the exact size catfish that stuff is any good for. Any punch, dip, or stink bait is for channel cats and who actually targets those if theres blues and flats.
My great uncles got recipe he used for 60 years he got from his dad who used to sell it on the steamboat runs back in the day. 😅 I dont have to pay for bait.

I haven’t seen any city folk on the river catfishing before but if I was a betting man this is what it looks like. Spinning rod with a bait caster attached to it and some kind of store bought bait so you don’t have to get your hands dirty.

I got a channel just under 12# last spring in pool 2 at the Ford dam on Danny king original punch bait. It out caught cut suckers and chicken livers
