I went to bass pro shops with @TheFishinMagician20 to get some catfish baits and test out weather cheap or expensive catfish baits worked better! Despite the very rough day we had I was able to pull off catching a good amount of fish and come to a conclusion.

you can buy a pound of chicken livers at most grocery stores for literally 1 to 2 dollars, works great on channel cats
Yessir store bought baits are my favorite. Specifically wanted to use bass pro baits for this video but I’ll always prefer some chicken liver or hot dogs for a fraction of the price 🤣 thanks for watching!
Like the video, and yeah, sometimes its more convenient to use store bought baits I get it, I was just putting it out there for some people may not know you can go super budget with liver or hotdogs, those tend to be messier too though. @@FishingWithPorter
Bro I tried chicken liver for a whole night and didn’t catch any, but when I put a worm on at the end I caught something 💀.
I've been crushing channels on the Powerbait. I never really gave itva chance because of bad reviews but my buddy was out one day with the Gulp liver chunks and said he lost a nice one. Decided to try out the Powerbait and they love it. I'm gonna try some Catfish Charlies b formula and Bee Jays dough bait and see how they work

Saw you fishing on Marks Fishing Magician channel! All those stinky Catfish Baits work pretty well for the Catz! I've been using "Catfish Charlie Baits" for decades & have literally caught hundreds & maybe even thousands of Channel & Blue Catz on it! Enjoyed watching!

What kind of rods do you use? You should make a vid on those.
@@Silverstatefishing my setup is always changing so making a video would result in outdated info quickly. In this video I was using an ugly stick and a Berkeley lightning rod, I have since replaced the lightning rod with a 5’ 6” ugly stick gx2
@@FishingWithPorter Ugly stick is the way to go. Ive been fishing my whole life, over 25 years now, and Ugly Stick and Rhino Indestructible have been my go-tos for catfishing. I also use a lot of Zebco and Bass Pro Shops store brand stuff for general use including catfishing. You dont need all that fancy expensive stuff Ugly Stick is one of the best and most reputable manufacturers out there same with Zebco and Rhino
Im starting to watch more and more of your videos. I usually play them as i get all my fishing gear together. You should try raw cut chicken and cover it in strawberry kool aid. I heard about it all my life and just recently tried it. I pulled about 20 catfish from 1-5 pounds and after it attracted the small fish all i eas pulling out were 8-12 pounders. I was having a blast. O caught probably 30 catfish in a span of almost an hour. i haven't tried any other Kool aid flavors but have had some success with coffee lol

Try that bait against throwing some raw peeled jumbo shrimp onto a catfish hook and letting it sit on the bottom (use a 1/2-1 oz no-roll sinker above a swivel, then tie on a 1-2 ft fluoro leader down to your bait/hook). Almost any meat will work but shrimp always seems to out-fish anything else I've used for cats. 1 lb of raw peeled shrimp runs about $5-$6 at the grocery store (chicken livers cost even less, but those get messy and fall off the hook a lot easier). Can't get much cheaper than that and should last you several outings.

@@tomislav_malbasic Usually a size 2-3 circle hook. I always use decent sized circle hooks for cats, and generally a 1/2-1 oz inline sinker down to a swivel, and 2-3 ft of 12-15 lb fluoro leader line. Have caught lots of cats using shrimp...shrimp has a nice strong scent...channel cats can pick up the scent from nearly a mile downstream from the bait.
For livers or any soft bait you can wrap with sewing thread or get some tubular gauze and make liver sacs
I have tried shrimp numerous times in two rivers and it never caught anything. Left some out overnight on limb lines and it was completely untouched the next morning.
How do you kill time when you’re catfish or carp fishing. I just can’t sit still for hours waiting for a bite
Usually will respond to comments and messages and stuff if I have them but 90% of the time I just sit and stare at my line waiting for something to happen 😂

Fish for bass or other species. I drill holes in wooden docks and insert spiral rod holders so my rods don't go flying into the water. A 1 lb channel can take your rod in, a 10 lber will take it in real fast

Use the treble hooks with a spring they hold dip bait very well and you have three hooks.

I have always had luck with chicken livers, from the grocery store, on a treble hook with a buller sinker....

Also good tip from experience is dont stick your fingers in catfish' mouths you should hold them by holding them under the head with their side fins between your middle and index finger and by your thumb in order to hold them still. If you end up catching a big catfish and you stick your fingers in its mouth you're gonna regret it very quickly. 😂
@@soontobenothing5458 I’ve had my hands shredded by many 10+ pound flathead catfish. Nothing is worse than getting spined by a catfish, so I’ll pass on that 🤣

Charlies isn't really expensive. The size of the bucket is what cost so much. It comes in smaller jars.

That place also has tons of koi! If you go there with corn or bread you should catch a few because me and my buddy were there for 2 hours and caghut 3 koi

You can buy worms for 4$ catch bluegill or sunfish and cut them up for bait way more effective

Lmao yeah dude you need to use dip bait rigs for your dip bait or it's just gonna come off as soon as it hits the water. I use those same tubes you showed but I take those yellow sponges off and replace them with cut pieces of this sponge packing foam that is more like a wire mesh so it's easier to load up with bait. But those tubes you showed will work perfectly also Hog Wild makes their own style that's basically a plastic mesh basket and those work really well too

@@tacraheennc9719 lures usually aren’t consistently effective, bait is pretty much the main way to get them. But if you fly fish green or black wooly buggers work great, and I’ve caught catfish on panther Martin spinners and also twin tail grub ned rigged baits.
