I have been using that magic bait over 15 years. Crayfish with chicken blood. I love how it attracts the big ones. . California, Arizona and Nevada the catfish are crazy about it. But all baits do not work in all waters.

Having fished multiple s in different sizes and colors, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 this is by far my favorite. One thing to be aware of is the sided willow blade. One side is silver and the other is the green/orange shown. This is not bad, just unconventional. In terms of fishing, I have found the lure works just fine without a tail like a craw or shad. That addition is up to you. Also, the hook part where you attach the swivel snap or tie the line is a problem on baits these days, since it's able to slide up and down. However this lure seems to be tight enough that that doesn't happen often, and you can solve it by putting a thin slice of medical tube over the hook before attaching the line. Like others have said, it's really magic on a good windy day.

Probably catch more fish around when it starts getting dark outside. Evening has always been the best time for fishing cats IMO.
Magic bait is best for stocked cats in stocked ponds...Those fish are used to artificial baits...
I live in Chattanooga as well. I love that spot, enjoy fishing at River Park too. That catfish bait has worked for me

I've caught them on shrimp. Really sometimes you can try every bait known to man and they still won't bite because they just won't sometimes. Might be cause of previous weather conditions and might be because they're hanging out in a different locations or they aren't hungary.

You can buy netting material real cheap put around treble hook tie with thread helps keep it on.... I've never tried this stuff hence I'm here : ) 👍
Use circle hooks with spring and pick it on, and will hold better. Type of bait depends on location. Have used both of these and they do work!

I’m a Tennessee river rat grew up on river canyon. Catfish come out at dusk and troll the top of the water in HUGE numbers. The best bait is a whole ass panfish tossed out and left to catch. You’ll get a monster.

The magic bait works best in hotter weather, and if you dip it in the water for a couple seconds it will become sticky and won’t fall off the hook.

The magic bait for catfish in the shad flavor was killing them for us last weekend.

If I had a choice and could'nt use cut bait, chicken breast and garlic are my go too.
Oh balls, Don't waste your money, just shit in a bucket and try that for bait instead , it's the same thing. That's what we did when I worked at Magic Bait, they just added a stool hardener and bagged and sealed it. 😫

I used to have a bullhead cat in a fish tank and got it really used to being fed, and it would eat anything. Anything but that stink Bait. I put some in there and had to get it out after a day because it would not touch it. Drop a worm or liver, he'd eat it before it'd hit bottom.
All the Commercial Stink Baits work well for Catfish if you can keep them on a hook. Stink baits are usually better for catching a lot of smaller eater size Catfish. Best bait For the LARGER Cats is LARGE & Medium pieces of fresh cut Shad, Herring, Buffalo, Sucker or Carp!
Used to always have plenty of luck with chicken liver. Thought everyone used that for years. Never caught anything over 20 lbs with it though, but we would set out styrofoam floats and about 3 ft of line on them and throw them out in the sloughs. Put out 100 at a time and spread them out on the TN river and we would be pulling cats for hours afterwards. Sometimes we would use some shad cutbait but we never kept much track of it. Now the sight of chicken liver makes me gag! An average 4 hour trip with 100 jugs would normally yield about 100 lbs of blues and channels. Never remember ever catching a flathead. We would always cast a treble hook across the float lines and wind them in so we could fight them more..lots of fun.
The magic bait works,but you only catch the small channel cat. Because the small fish smell it first and get to it first.
Ive never had luck with the dough. I was hopeful because I could keep in wrapped in my vehicle all year long and Id be ready when ever the spirit moved me.
But if I have bait that doesnt bait, then I have a heavy hook and an empty frying pan. 😂
Ill just stick with what works.
Magic bait does work but hard to keep on your hook😂 I just keep it open for a long time and let it turn hard then use it

I use the stink bait and have amazing success with it. Use a spring hook to get your bait to hold better. I catch 4 or 5 in just a couple hours with that stink bait.
I put a small amount of dough bait in a bag & use it to marinate overnight with chicken liver & cut up pieces of legs quarters. Catfish seem to love it. But it doesn't work well by itself. Great video 😎
Dip bait works the best for me cut bait as well but anything super stinky at night tends to be the best
beef liver , allways work for catfish , number 1, use it all the time , the best and cheap

I just came back from fishing with the Magic Bait Chicken Blood using two rods & had so much action I had to go to one rod. They tore this bait up for me. Must have caught 20-25 cats in two hours. 🤷🏻♂️
They make that dough bait in a “night crawlers” scent and I bought some and let’s hope I don’t regret it

Magic bait chicken blood is not a very good bait at all but I do recommend secret 7 dipbait and catfish charlies cheese dipbait
Shads are one of the better baits for catfish would not be suprized if you caught something else.

Tried the magic bait once couldn’t keep it on the hook even with a treble. Worms work great but other species like white perch often find them first. I think either dead shiners or fresh cut bait work best for strictly catfish fishing.

Tried that magic bait back around 1994 when I was ten... never bought it again. For channel cats, chicken liver and shiner heads are hard to beat. In terms of store bought products, give me secret 7 by Team Catfish over that magic bait any day. I will never forget my grandfather asking to smell it and put the bag up to his nose. Lol.... He always used liver and shrimp for catfish. Wouldn't touch that stuff.

Thanks for the support man. And yeah I'm sure there been some right place right time situations with either baits. But I would rather stick to my cut bait.
Theres a science to it man, but fish usually prefer things that are alive and moving when they eat em, worms still move around while on the hook and they smell thats why fish love em so much
Use magic bait Whopper shad it is by far the best magic bait for big catfish I've used it in lakes and rivers all over Ohio.
I’d like to see this experiment in a lake or pond, a much smaller body of water may help

never had luck on the dried, oiled shad. Caught a few on the king cat but its not a first choice bait

I have used the bait balls from Walmart I caught a nice catfish with it but it did take a while
I would have been casting towards the pillars. I fish around a lot of bridges when it comes to catfishing. It's all about the presentation. The dough bait goes on a certain type hook and I have had caught nice catfish on it. The baby chad would work cut to release all the oils and other scents that come along with it.

Coild be some variables like someone said a ( control) bait . Looks to be sunny so a variable may be barometric pressure or location just a thought
Oh yeah for sure. So many variables it's impossible to really base anything like this in fact. More just a fun video to watch/film. So many variables in fishing, it's hard to say anything for sure.
In order to more accurately test a product such as these you need what is considered a control group as well meaning you should also be using a bait that is proven to work in conjunction with the test groups. If the proven bait is catching fish in the same area and the test products are not then you know more accurately that the test products are not that good because otherwise the fish just may have not been biting anything that day.

Hotdog chunks soaked in chicken liver works great
What I do is cut up chicken, soak it in liver blood. It stays on the hook, and works good.
I usually do better with finicky fish using the Dough baits, or liver,. there are special hooks and lures to use dough baits with to help hold it better. with warmer spring average temps and up
I bet. Would rather not use treble hooks for catfish, but I might give it a try with one of those plugs
Just bought the shad to try out because i hear good stuff about shad. Im new to catfishing. Been using chicken livers and have caught around a 10-12 pounder and a bunch of turtles xD. I do like the memes in the video though so you get a sub for that. Keep up the work bro. You could be the next 1rod1reel.

My favorite baits are fallfish, bluegill, or white sucker cut baits. Your like the 81st person that I've heard trash these Walmart rip offs. I watched the video to see if this was going to be that time they caught fish 😆
I've used both and never catch anything because the bait always always always falls . I normally buy the one on the left to attract the catfish, then use chicken livers

I have tried baby shad but never caught anything but I have caught a lot of fish using magic bait.
I've used the sticky dip bait and it does work but the hook is just too big .
Use a treble hook with a bait keeper, channel cats tear it up around me.
I use walmarts Charlies blood dough bait and the shad in a bag. I smash up the shad and mix it up with the charlies. No big deal. i was just experimenting and caught my limit on channels. Good luck. Bless.

The best bait for catfish are chicken liver in the bloody tubs from walmart. There like 7 and it comes with a container full of them. And the catfish love it
Where I’m at the turtles get to the livers first. But always catch fish with liver.

I know this is 9 months old but you should try Danny Kings punch bait. I've never not caught a fish with that bait, it's amazing but you typically only catch eating size.
Never heard of it. Wonder if they have it at walmart.
@@theeverydayangler that's where I use to buy it from, but that was back in Louisiana. I haven't seen it in Hawaii yet but then again there's very minimal freshwater to fish.

I agree Danny King makes really great stinky catfish baits. There kinda on the expen$ive side though.
And chicken is stupid cheap and stays on the hook better. You can add garlic powder to it if you want but it works plenty fine as it is.

I’ve used both of those a long time ago on separate occasions. Had the same results for each during hot weather fishing the Arkansas river. I have better luck using worms I get out of my compost worm barrels. Even better than night crawlers. I feed my worms fruit and veggie scraps and rabbit poop.

You need to invest in some bait runner reels. Beats the hell out of turning the drag up and down. I have the okuma avengers and I like them.
Most people wouldnt think catfish would eat it but best bait ive ever tried is rotten chicken liver, warning though expect to gag

The magic bait just falls off the shad words ok I got at 35lb blue on that shad bait. But I set up two trot lines with 25 hooks on each line. Livers and gizzards work best.
Yeah I've never tried trot lining, I tried limblining but it didn't go so well lol

Best catfish bait Walmart sells is chicken breast. Or any chicken besides liver to be honest. I can personally vouch for that and chattcatsfishing and Richard Simms have plenty of videos on the quality of bait that chicken breast/thighs are 👍🏼

I’ve only caught a fish once on the green shad but I also only used it once it also took all damn day to catch it.
Yeah...it's hard to beat just worms or any type of cut bait.
I tried both once, same results, caught to small channels on the shad and nothing but stinky fingers on the dough.
Better if using worms or chicken breast!
@@theeverydayangler; Been experimenting with chicken breast (or thigh meat), soy sauce, garlic and raspberry jam marinate for a couple of days seems to be the best so far. Much better than plain chicken. (Got the idea of the jam because I have harvested channels and blues in creeks with gullets full of mulberries)
