I often wonder why Prince didn't perform on the Tonight Show with either Johnny Carson and then during the 80s WB-Paisley Park Records years then into early 90s Leno. I have a great memory of watching this with great anticipation, VHS at the ready, I have a taping also lying around in the garage(!) to promote the SOTT film at the time. I remember going to see SOTT double billing with Dirty Dancing in Hollywood when they had theaters on the boulevard. Patrick Swayze was on this show as you can see promoting the Dirty Dancing. So at the theater I first saw Dirty Dancing, then SOTT and to this day, I CANNOT separate the two! I have to see both DD and SOTT together! It's crazy and of course, I fell in love with BOTH movies. What a time in American pop culture!

I believe that was it, they moved on to the next guest or that was the end. Most music artist didn’t & still don’t sit to talk, so it was special for her to get invited over for those few minutes - presumably to promote the movie.

I don't think it is a song she ever released. My guess it's just her jamming to something she probably practiced.

Good speed from the earlier period ... But she's gotten better with age--all her new stuff is just killin' it! Wait, let me rephrase that ... This drum solo is okay--good speed--but to me, she's one of those drummers whose gotten even better with age (like Dave Weckl & Steve Smith)--which is a rarity. I just love all here new drumming--she kills it!
I wouldn't say that Steve Smith has gotten 'better' per se, he just refined his playing somewhat. Not a lot of drummers were doing what he was doing with Journey in 1980.
