- 3D Printing has really opened a world of new ideas to me. In this video we test another proof of concept to see if we can 3D Print a fourth order bandpass subwoofer enclosure. Imagine if we could print this subwoofer box for larger subwoofers in the future! This could really elevate the possibilities of what a custom car audio fabricator could install into a car or truck.
Notes on the fourth order box design: This subwoofer box is designed at a 2:1 ratio. Since this is such a small subwoofer the port is actually tuned fairly high. This subwoofers parameters don't really jive with what would normally excel in a fourth order bandpass , but it was fun anyhow.

Print your own boombox! Very cool little box you have there, keep up the great vids CarAudioFabrication
, the only limitation is a person's imagination.
I think the possibilities are literally endless.
great work !!!!!
3D printing is amazing! Who would've thought you could do a bandpass box? So cool Mark. Thanks for sharing.
Brian Frishcosy Thanks for watching! It was a fun proof of concept test!
that's killer...a little led light and you got a great PC sub
Thank you for loving what you do and inspiring others to learn and build things of quality
I'd really like for a 3d printed 6th order bandpass box. cool boxes. keep it up
Can't go wrong with a CAF video. I always learn alot.
Hey, could you make a video about Bandpass boxes and how to design difrent types of them?
Man I'm gonna bust out dremel and jigsaw and make a mini 4th order for a 6.5 woofer I have! Thanks for idea!!
What a great concept!
I've been watching all your videos man and i love it, it's amazing how much time, work, and perfection you put into it. I'm currently doing stuff for my 2011 honda accord but not having the right tools kills me. So far all that i have done worked and turned out great from seeing your videos. I'm leaving for the military here in a month, so after i get back from bootcamp. I plan on doing everything to my car with sound deadning and all. I thank you for you videos man.
Cameron Davis I know the feeling! Saving my pennies for a while to get the nice stuff! What branch are you going into? Thank you for your service! Let me know when you are back and start working on stuff!
I'm heading into the Army and thank you. I'll definitely let you know when i get back and show you the progress I've done to my car.
this is freaking awesome! love it
According to some guys on DIYMA - they say that 3d printed walls allow air straight through. Their fix was to smear glue on the walls. Try painting it with plastidip or something that'll be air tight and see how it sounds.
That box is badass man ! Looks great too !
Would make for such a sweet computer desk box. Great video!
Great work!!!
As soon as I get to the video page I click the like button before watching, because I know this stuff would be good! Keep up the good work, Mark!
Ali Haidar Did you click or smash? I demand you SMASH! Thanks bud! :)
+CarAudioFabrication where can i find this small subwoofer????
I've been looking for a video that compares the different versions (orders) of bandpass enclosures. I would love to see a video giving the pros/ cons (in general terms because different drivers will perform differently) of each "order". thanks much.
Me to!

You have earned yourself a like my friend !.Also what kind of mini sub woofer are you using im curious because im planning to make my own in the distant future
It's amazing what you can do with a 3D printer, since you are getting familiar with CNC machines, have you ever thought buying a carve machine like x-carve or ShapeOko 3, I believe additional projects or custom templates you will able to make (sorry mobile solutions templates)
thatas an awesome little sub and box!
Great video the only thing missing is how you determined the volume of the enclosure for the speaker
This is fantastically geeky, i LOVE IT :D
William Anklew Its fun to do little proof of concept projects. I can't wait for larger 3D printers to be more cost effective. :P
I think that 3D Printing has put car audio on a whole another level and shows the tech of the future of car audio we can get everything from speaker pods to sub woofer boxes I am waiting on amp racks next but who knows what else maybe able to be made by a 3D Printer
PSE Mentalist
I think right now its best use is for small parts. As the
larger machines continue to come down in price we can determine how to use them
to make larger items.
CarAudioFabrication Indeed when there is a large machine for the more larger boxes the possibilities are endless Mark I am thinking that the future of car audio is already here
That's BadAss Mork!
very freaking cool!
Is it okay to have my port tube on side of box with the tube running directly behind the subwoofer?
I have to use a cheap spare mouse when I watch your videos so i can properly slam the like button. They only last a few videos.
, freaking awesome
so amazing.
Hi I have a tangband 3 inch and was wondering what type of box I should make for it, so it has good bass for such a little woofer but also having good sound quality? wanna make a cool little boom box thingo, cheers 👍.
you wont happen to share the design file of the box so we can try it? would love to have a play
dam that box looks nice
nice factory
How expensive is 3D printing and what all can you build I have been interested in this for a little while now
Wouldn't you want much more infill? I'm assuming it would be better due to mdf being the normal standard.
awesome! little box looks perfect what is sub brand and model please
hi, Note that the plexiglass in my JBL 300 watt band pass sub tends to vibrate when some bass kicks hard(which then tends to spoil the music a lil bit). Is it a normal situation for sub with plexiglass? do I need to try screw them tighter? or what else? Thanks
Do you guys sell the build plan for this application?
Where did you get the tiny sub??
I like the design of this box. Would it be possible to get the dimensions of it? I`m searching for a tiny subwoofer to build for my Smart Fortwo and this one looks perfect for my needs.
For real that’s tight
so is this louder than regular ported box?
Hie please can you help me ...i have a kenwood wps1300d and i was thinking of putting it in a bandpass box .On its manual there is only two options thus sealed or ported...will it work well if i use the specs for the jbl p1220 bandpass box?
How big is the port? What would happen if you made a wider port besides change the frequency and which way would it go?
What software do you use to calculate box ?
Thank you for your awesome video
What is the size for a 6 inch box design for a 4th order subwoofer.
what 3d printer do you have?
You should most definitely 3D print kick pods. First thing that came to mind, and with the technology available with portable 3D laser scanners, it seems like now it would be a great time to get into that niche if one were to already have the equipment.... Equpimonk.
3d printed parts have noticable amount of holes in structure ,you could seal it with brushing some epoxy on it and it will sound alot better.
Tengo 2 lanzar opti 12" 2200 watt que medidas puedo usar para bandpass
try doing a double vented bandpass in 3d print @CarAudioFabrication
How do u kno which way to face sub, my understanding is the QTS. Anyone have a definitive answer.
How do you measure for 8th bandpass?
nice!
I have two 4 inch subwoofers and I'm trying to decide on having a port or passive radiators witch one would give the deepest bass
Nothing
Passives
Really i love that u make...i think u need thik wood.i made same 8 inch speaker woofer..Really nice
Nice job..
that type of cunstruction is awsome..
what subwoofer did you use ?
You should design a box for the driver you are using in bass box 6 and then print it so there's no guesswork and it would be optimized for the driver it would be holding and possibly try for a 3D printed aero port with flared ends in the next one
WOW!
soy claudio de argentina me copa tus diseño tengo vectra año 2007 tengo un triton de 12 ke opinas en el baul
nice, I would like to 3d print a sealed enclosure box for a 8" subwoofer...
model number for the sub is w3-18763 i think 3inch driver
hello mark I am wanting to buy the plans for the dual 10 down fire on your site but I wanted to know if you can make it taller,,I want to use it as an end table on my 34 ft cabin cruiser so it would need to be taller and wanted to use the extra space as storage for a pistol and remotes and other things,, does this sound like something you can do with the plans,,I didn't want to order it to find out you cant do it,, but would be a perfect enclosure for my boat because it will also be furniture,, and I wouldn't have to use up storage space for a box,, thanks for all the videos,, Robert
stl? please
I want one for my desk at work
What's the model of the speaker?
Would you be willing to sell those 3D boxes along with the sub?
+caraudiofabrication would build and sell something like this. looking to add a small audio setup in my Snapon rolcab tool box.
Barbie Dream House home theater setup?
You know it! Ken doesn't have anything on these skills!
nice video... very inspiring! just liked your fb page... keep it up!
Have you tried using Dichloromethane to glue the printed plastic?
thephranc Not yet, good idea though, I will have to test that out thanks!
nice, that would look good with l.e.d's on the inside, beside you pc. you should design something like a small portable pa speaker, like a jbl 515xt and buy 1 of those class d amps on ebay. would look awesome.
Hell ya, I can see door panels being made, component speaker pods, skies the limit...
Using acetone on 3d prints is the best way to seal it 100% and make very very strong
+Timothy Puckett Acetone only works on ABS, not PLA.
I Wonder what the Frequency Response curve of this Box looks like!
Do you have any data about that? Because i am really interested in building something similar!
Baloh Christian What i also wanted to say is that you should keep in mind that 3D printed material is( due to the Layers) more like extremely fine Foam. I Had to print parts for my diploma thesis and They couldnt even Withstand 0.01 Bar (around 1.4 Psi) Wich is literally NOTHING. Even tough the walls were around 10mm thick it leaked.
Now the questions. Does this, and i am pretty sure it does, affect the Performance/ frequency response of the Speaker? and can it be that the Air noise is caused by air which is leaking trough the 3D Printed material ?
What model and name of the speaker used in this video? Which site does he sell?
Tayane Nascimento Tayane Nascimento Tang Band W3-1876S 3" Mini Subwoofer sold online at parts-express.com, haven't bought it yet but I'm going to pretty soon, if you buy it let me know what the bass sounds like or even make a small video of you playing bass heavy music through it. Don't have to but would help a lot thanks have a good one👍👌
Preciso de uma caixa para 2 subwoofer falcon 250rms 10" polegadad bobina 4+4
hey mark, i was wondering if you could do a video on integrating an 8" (or any size) sub in the rear interior panels of a 2 door sports car? (the panels by the non functional back seats) i want to do this for my frs but i have no clue how to go about it. THANKS!
+kalmahman48 do you want him to spoon feed you too? Put some work into it man, jesus.
MagZup07nope bro. This was from August of last year. I've learned quite a bit since then and I can now build whatever I desire with a bit of planning and design. Usually comments from 7 months ago aren't relevant now.
good for you dude
r u going to sell the 3d boxes
Yes you can do 3d printing tho it's not really advisable , you see in a plastic enclosure the sound will not resonate well compare to a wooden box, so the wood box is irreplaceable when it comes to sound
Hello, I have a Chrysler 200 , 2015 and I was wondering what kinda box design to go with and especially the inside to get the most out of the audio. I have two 12' sub's and a 12' speaker . but I will go down to 10' if need be. I'm looking for something to go with the car and fit the trunk well.... If you could help that would be great !

CarAudioFabrication iv seen them but none of them are more than double and I want to do three do you have a email or something where it's easier to contact you?
Mark did a 4th order band pass design made to use four 15s for me. Well worth it!
H hj,hm ,jjbbuuybbmjuyhuu,jumbling
What would this costs for a 6.75 comprt specs
Do you always assemble your projects naked? LOL :D (2:26)
Can you provide the dimensions?
Thank u and nice.video
Do a 6th order
It would have been nice to see you fix the design a bit (aka sealing any possible air leaks) and try another sound test, like do a frequency sweep. And sound test in a vehicle.
hola tiene los planos
can we purchase this enclosure?
lets see some 3d printed door pods or kick panels
is a 4th order bandpass any louder than a regular box.
Can be but it is more focused in certain frequencies then a ported box.
What is this for a Subwoofer?
May i have those design files
Gunshow :D Good job tho ;-)
Jakub Polomsky ;) Good eye.
The Gunshow xD
