    I loved this video man, and your attitude about these awesome steels. Big fan of your stream of consciousness way of presenting information

      J Adams Hey!!! Thanks man! Yeah! It’s a passion but also a learning experience and I just want to share my point of view with people. 👊🏼🍻

    It is funny how we judge these tests. Any of these steels will survive a days work without any problem. Sharpening these to their optimum edge is tough enough. It is hard to get toothy without to much polish and still eliminate the burr. Thank you for a great video.

    • @alexsteingraber
      @alexsteingraber  4 года назад +4

      Agreed 100%! When I sharpen for personal use, I try really hard to keep the stropping to a minimal and reserve it for touch ups. Thanks for watching man! 👊🏻🍻

    Great test and an awesome video👍I'm with you on enjoying the fact you have a steel designed to rip apart solid rock in your pocket 👌🍻

      Thanks man! Haha. Seriously, at the end of the day none of these steels were designed for knives except for S30V and 35vn. Most of them were designed for tooling or cutting other metal at high speeds. Haha. I should just buy a carbide knife and shut the hell up. 🤣🤣🤣👊🏻🍻

    Can't wait until you can heat treat. Another game changer for your channel. You'll stand out even more among knife testers.

    • @alexsteingraber
      @alexsteingraber  4 года назад

      Hahaha. Same man! I think once that thing gets here I’m gonna test once on the ropes then send stuff out for people to test. Deff want more than one opinion on the attributes of the steel and how it performs. But yeah! Now we can get the testes that we’ve all wanted but never could get. Any steel recommendations are appreciated! Thanks for watching homie! 👊🏻🍻

    speaking of the heat treat on the k390 and 10v, would love to see a test between the PM2 k390 and the seki k390 mainly the stretch 2 being so close in geometry to the PM2, as stated the golden k390 is 63 wile the seki is about 65.

    It’s great you can test HRC now, that’s a game changer for your testing!

      Hell yeah! And my knife making! Haha! I actually found a local place that does calibrations. So we will see what happens with that soon!

    Have you ever heard of Aermet, the steel used in aircraft carrier plane hooks? Black Diamond used it for ice tool picks until the military commandeered it all. They are unbreakable picks, and are much sought after.

      @alexsteingraber  4 года назад

      Just googled it! Never heard of it but looks like some people are entertaining knives and swords out of it. Reminds me of SM100 or some crazy alloy like that. Would be interesting to test out for sure! I’ll have to hunt some down!

    Hey, What grit do you like Maxamet at for a "Toothy Edge" Thanks for the video. : )

    • @alexsteingraber
      @alexsteingraber  10 месяцев назад +1

      240 veneve diamond works well for that. I also like maxamet off a 1k shapton pro stone. Both are vastly different but do provide a nice toothy sticky edge after a 9mic-1mic diamond strop. I use Stroppy stuff, but your preferred choice would work as well.
