I just bought the TBP 12. Love it..a beast. No problems with the ammo, but as he says over, insertion of the mag is a thing. I waited until I saw a wear pattern on the mags then gently sanded those areas down to smooth them out. Minimal sanding then use aluminum black if you want to bring the color back. Also definitely lube the key areas lightly. Now mags fall out after approximately 75 rounds.
I have a TBP12 and I wish I saw this video before I sent my firearm in for warranty. They were very nice and cleaned my shotgun for me and gave me these tips. With the new tips my shotgun is running great and I couldn't be happier! Can't wait to buy more of these shotguns for my family and friends I love how compact and CQB friendly they are, great for home defense

I was actually have that mag issue myself until I realized what was going on. After inserting the mag and you hear the click, just tug downwards on the mag and it runs like a dream. You are 100% correct
My TEC 9 has the same problem. I got it for about ~$189. I bought a bunch of KG 9 (The original full auto gun.) mags that were contracted by IMI USA importer, but the say "Made in USA" on the side. They come in the same box as UZI mags did (1980's) and the checkbox for "KG 9" is marked, instead of UZI 25 round box. The dealer (I was friends with them.) let me inspect all ten he got. About three were essentially inoperative. Others were in sad shape. One had a huge chunk of welding slag in the middle of the feeding area. When removed, yep, a "pothole" was left. I got one of the three that seemed to work. The magazine (Factory) looked and worked like the Century Arms built guns did back in the 2000's. I literally removed the spring and follower, put on the bottom plate (Neighbor had a bunch made up for something, plenty left over.) and filled it with cement, and used it as a doorstop in my cellar. With only ball ammunition that wasn't weak (Often the "White Box" ammo was kinda lame. Don't use NATO Spec 124, it was surplus and very snappy. Very :"jammy" in this gun.) it fed okay. The trick was insert magazine, then pull down till it stops. Fed fine then, with the most rare magazines possible to find.
Great video man and I also wish I saw this before going to the range. Two points: 1. Completely right on the mag. Gently insert it until you hear click then pull it down to properly seat it. Couldn't figure out what was going on but luckily instructor at range figured it out. 2. Should have mentioned this in the video. Light load gas piston vs heavy load gas piston. I paid a gunsmith $25 and he swapped out the light for the heavy as I plan on firing buck shot and rifled slugs. Major issue with this is when I tried to revert back to low recoil bird shot shells the shells wouldn't cycle properly because there wasn't enough force and I had to manually pull the lever back to force the gun to cycle to the next round. Wish someone would have told me this first.
Really thinking about this one, what a steal of a deal. Mag overinsertion seems to be a thing, and one guy had to send his back because of a defect but it was up in 3 weeks.
I bought the white storm trooper version last year. Love shooting it. So much so that I just purchased a black one this week. Now I have two five round and one 10 round magazine. Shout out to SDS for sending me a replacement wrench for free so I could clean my gun. Great support guys. One note on the white model. It gets very dirty so, once you've put rounds through it and clean it, it may not be "white" again. I'm going to try some different cleaners on it to see if I can get it looking new again.

I recently bought this shotgun as well and would like to add 2 tips. 1. Swap the charging handle to the left side. 2. Use your left thumb to release the magazine so you are able to keep shouldering the gun.

There are plenty of videos on how to field strip it and clean it. As far as break in period, the creator of this video mention a couple of hundred rounds.

A little 5w30 oil on the gas system especially during break in helps don't forget during break in itll shed metal dust. Wipe that crap up get it out of the gun.. its abrasive and then oil it lightly
Fiocchi Defense 00 buck low recoil (1100fps) would not cycle in mine (std piston). Is new so not sure if more break-in wear will make a difference. Guessing othe defense loads with 1265 fps might work

Hi I just found your channel after seeing this particular shotgun and I have one question. There's a website I found that's claiming this shotgun cost 280 (220 because it's on sale). I wanted to ask if that's accurate as I'm a fairly new gun owner and still learning who's reputable and who's not. Thank you in advance
@@sds_arms It may just be the one I got but it is by far the heaviest I have by at least 5 to 6 times . Both of my 870's are around 3.5 to 4 pounds this one is over 20 pounds for sure .
For the price I might pick one of these up. But I have to say, it would go a long ways to make me feel like this was an honest overview of this weapon if you were to address the main issue. That being that this isn't a Benelli and that means that it won't cycle ammo as well and the tolerances built into it are going to be less forgiving. This is a great weapon for the price but that means you need to stick to ammo that runs and baby the weapon in places where it needs babying. Unless of course you think an over-inserted state for a magazine is a properly engineered condition. Not giving you crap. I will probably buy one of these. But at the same time, being just a touch more honest than necessary means that people understand that you know the issues and you're not trying to gaslight them about it. For the cost compared to the quality, you should have no concerns that you'll suffer sales loss due to lost customers. I think the actual truth is the opposite.
Odd. Shouldn't the magazine have a tab or some other feature to prevent over insertion? That seems a poor design to me. MFers in a tense situation aren't necessarily paying attention to things that shouldn't be an issue
its a fun range toy but thats honestly about all its good for. The controls are so awkward it would be hard to use in any efficient way. simply loading a mag let alone the mag release button is just hard to reach without completely changing your grip each time. i wish they added ambi mag release button, that would solve a lot of issues.
