Something is off. You can't put the serial # in the Calibre until you buy it, so, shouldn't you have the buy it info first and then we can find the serial #? The books usually download to the kindle desktop reader. Old days it would tell us we had to open it on the ereader first and then we could upload it to calibre. Are you saying we no longer need to do this? Are you working from a laptop or an android? My Kindle for PC has no serial no. only version number so, every image you showed does not match the current versions.

Thanks for this video. The thing is, I have 3000 kindle books which I want to transfer to my brand new Boox, and would like to do it at once, meaning downloading ALL the kindle books to my laptop and then transferring them. I far as I could understand your method implies downloading one oook at a time which is, obviously, way too cumbersome. Is there a way to do this in bulk? Thanks in advance.
Is there a difference between Calibre 7.6.0 an my 7.17. I still get the message about not beeing able to convert by DRM.Thanks for the video and thanks in advance for a response.
I don't believe there is. I have the latest version and can convert no problem. I release new video on Tuesday on how to remove DRM using a different method (no Kindle serial number needed). You can subscribe and hit bell icon to get notified once it's released and test this method.
This worked for me! Question though, let's say the format is .kfx, what's the solution then? There are books on my kindle already that I just want in calibre without having to go to amazon and download them again.
Hi Benjamin, great to hear the steps worked. I release a video tomorrow on DRM removal but without the need for Kindle serial number. In that video, I show a KFX Input plugin that allows you to convert KFX books. I think this would be helpful to you.
Also accessibility. For me it's much easier to listen to the books as read out by a text-to-speech voice. That I can't do that straight from the Kindle book
Hi, I'm currently working on a video that would allow to remove DRM without Kindle device. Will release it in the next 2 weeks. Subscribe to channel to get notified 👍
Hi! I buy books from Ridibooks, but they need to be translated into English from Korean. Will this work for Ridibooks like it does for Kindle? The workaround I am currently using to translate is very slow and cumbersome. Thank you for this awesome video. :)
It all depends on what DRM protection is used by Ridibooks. I don't buy books from Ridibooks. I think it's unlikely but you could give it a try and see if it works.
For some reason, whenever I want to add the deDRM plugin to calibre it just freezes. A reinstall also didn't work and I'm not sure what exactly the problem is...
This looks promising but the interface today (June 2, 2024) does not match video and there is no way to add the plug-in you suggested, only a pre-canned list from Calibre.
This method isn't foolproof, I have had at least 10 books so far be rejected for having DRM and not being able to convert them into a different format. Edit: as of 7/30 only 4 out of 100 books worked, I keep getting a "this book is DRM protected" error.
You can't. It only works if you own the actual Kindle device. But even then, it's hit or miss on which books will convert over. Newer books are protected more aggressively.

It's the Kindle serial number that you put in, not the Calibre serial number. Of course, you have to own a Kindle for this to work. And it does work.
you save me!! Hugs from Brazil
Does this method work with VitalSource Bookshelf?
I'm having the hardest time ever trying to read my Ebook i just bought.. It's an ACSM file and i'm not able to convert it.
Downloaded Calibre, downloaded the DRM plugin, doesn't do shit. I'm amazed how difficult this is in 2024, having to download this program, this plugin... This is insane..
Please any help ? -> Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem: E_ADEPT_NO_TOKEN
Ty in advance
Hey, did you get it sorted? You may want to review some reedit channels as they mention this specific problem.
When I tried installing DEDRM_plugin_zip, I get a error message that reads "Missing parenthese in call to 'print'. Did you mean print(...)?
I’ve been trying to get se serial number from kindle, but I dont know were to find it, I log in to amazon, then content and devices, but when im there, there’s nothing about serial number
its your kindle serial number not the book
You can subscribe and hit bell icon to get notified once it's released and test this method.
thank you so mcu, spent an hour trying to do this, found your video and now it works, yippee
Awesome to hear!
Did you run into any legal issues?
you saved my day!
Good point. I'm making the next video on a software features we'd all like to see in Kindle (wishlist). This is one of them.
How can I download if I don't have a kindle device? I use an IPad
Hi, I'm currently working on a video that would allow to remove DRM without Kindle device. Will release it in the next 2 weeks. Subscribe to channel to get notified 👍
Does this work on Linux as well?
DRM link downloaded but still getting message for DRM on Calibre. Not working for me.
es this happened to me as well. I reinstalled the plugin a couple of times and restarted but it is still not working. 26 June 2024.
Did you figure out a workaround? I can't get it to work now either... this video worked for me in May but no longer. (Mac user)
I already have a book downloaded with Kndle for PC, this method does not work.
UPDATE: Worked but had to use From KFX enabled in the Calibre menu bar. Thank you for the info.
I did it! Thank you so much! 🇧🇷
Hey, did you figure it out?
Straightforward, easy to follow and it worked! Thank you :)
Great to hear!!
This looks promising but the interface today (June 2, 2024) does not match video and there is no way to add the plug-in you suggested, only a pre-canned list from Calibre.
Are you on PC? You need to do Preferences > Advanced > Plugins
Does this work with nook?
Thank you times a million x
Where do I find the serial number for my kindle?
i use a samsung tablet with kindle app, just bought a kobo, how i can set the serial if i dont have a proper device?
¡Magnifico! Me has sacado de un apuro. Muchísimas gracias. 🤗🤗
This method isn't foolproof, I have had at least 10 books so far be rejected for having DRM and not being able to convert them into a different format.
Edit: as of 7/30 only 4 out of 100 books worked, I keep getting a "this book is DRM protected" error.
How can i remove that without having a kindle? I bought a book but i use kindle on Windows
I am in the same situation
Same here except I use Kindle for Mac. I have been looking all over for this info but haven't found it yet.
You can't. It only works if you own the actual Kindle device. But even then, it's hit or miss on which books will convert over. Newer books are protected more aggressively.
can you strip the DRM with this method then use a different ebook reader of personal choice (not calibre) to read the book?
Yes, once you strip the DRM, you convert it to the format of your ebook reader.
You saved my life, sir.
I sincerely appreciate your help and kindness.
Do you know a way I can remove DRM Protection from an M4v file?
How can I do this using a mobile phone
