- Now if you purchased a Kindle book, then in many instances you might want to convert these e-books to PDF. Though the process may NOT BE FEASIBLE to everyone, it can surely help many (or smaller pages books) to convert to PDF making it easier to use on mobiles, laptops, and other devices. You will not require to downgrade kindle as well - you can simply use the latest version.
In this tutorial, we will be using a Windows PC and some free converting tools. The video is divided into three parts - Installing the latest Kindle, downloading and installing software tools, and finally converting Kindle Books to PDF.
Please note you must OWN the book and have the full right to view the books on kindle. You cannot convert Kindle to PDF if you aren't able to open it on Kindle.

I'm sorry for the long winded message but am not a tech savvy person and spent way too much on Kindle ebooks, only to find I can't mark them even on my e-ink device.
Before I try your method, I've installed and uninstalled some Kindle and Calibre, Plug-ins already.. I have a Surface Pro 7, Windows 10.. I don't have an actual physical Kindle device.. I have an Onyx Boox Note Air which is Android.. I wish to convert my Kindle asw/ KFX files into PDFs so that I can write notes ON them.. on my Onyx Boox E-ink Tablet. I have the 1.24 Kindle app atm.. and have Calibre 5.10.1.. and installed the Plugins

I tried to convert a kindle ebook azw file.. which shows up as kfx on Calibre and I'm trying to convert it to pdf
Do you know what I've done wrong/ if I've done anything wrong? or has Amazon simply modified the KFX thing again?

@@cass8330 Sorry to know that you weren't able to convert Kindle to PDF, but please try this method it will work regardless of any types of books as long as you can open it on your kindle. Some books with DRM doesn't seem to easily get converted using calibre, but this method doesn't use any type of such applications instead captures the screen so you should be able to convert it as required. Nope, use kindle pc than go to the file in pc and find kindle folder
I used Auto HotKey and made a script that presses the right arrow key every second automatically. Then I recorded and immediately started the script. It automatically went through the whole book without me even touching the pc.

6/20/2023: Script works awesome.. note to newbies: use Notepad to copy and paste script, omit "//" line, change file extension from "txt" to "ahk" when you double click the file to run it, windows will ask you to install version 1+ of Auto Hot Key: remember 'F1' key starts script, and 'F2' stops script
I appreciate ... One method could be download FS capture take page screen shot with a single click... Save every page as pdf and combine all... It will remove all unnecessary software downloading.... ;)

I noticed on the atomi ActivePresenter that there was a tab for PDF next to Video. Won't that be easier than having to video capture the image?
This should be so easy but my computer will not let me download the links to convert the video to a PDF. I am so frustrated.

screen capture pdfs won't work with apps like @Voice reader or T2S (well, @voice does have a slow OCR built-in that works on normal (non-cursive) fonts). I use these to listen to books while driving. For those, use the calibre/deDRM method.

I'm a teacher so my intentions are good. It's just that its stupid annoying and time-consuming to either "snip" pages into a Docs, or literally photocopy books for my students. This process might take 30 minutes in one sitting but that's how long it would take me to just photocopy a few chapters personally.
But it would too hectic to record books having something like 500 pages! Isn't it?
This works! I would highly recommend using an autoclicker when you are recording the video.

Why did you want them as pdf?
I just found out how the buying of ebooks process works and didn't like it at all (I suppose I should've read the terms of services) and basically am trying to find a way to secure the files of the books I have purchased for myself.
Is this a good method?

If using a phone/tablet simply download Google keep and screen shot what you want to copy/paste then click add image click the 3 dots and click Grab text from image. You can then copy/paste the text from google keep bypassing DRM :)

dont you think it will me easier if i just take repeated snapshots and just make a pdf out of it?? i mean if you have to make a video first by flipping manually, you might as well capture the screen...

After investing a lot of time following the laborious procedure, it turned out to be for naught, because the free version of the ActivePresenter software now outputs a black rectangle in the bottom right corner, so the images are useless for this purpose. 🤕

for any Kindle book, the easiest way is to open the Kindle PC software, copy each page and paste into Word, then convert word to PDF.

Hi, when I try and sign into the Kindle desktop app, it doesn't let me sign in - it tells me my email is incorrect (which it definitely is not). Do you know why this might be?

Hi Troncos - It was supposed to be made easily available as a PDF to read on devices that don't have a kindle and not actually make it editable. Anyway, you can though try to convert the image to a doc file..!
