Frey's tailored suit is appropriate attire for the cutthroat corporate exec that he truly is! Indeed, the invaluable contributions of Don Felder that helped the Eagles reach their zenith of artistic and commercial success in the mid-to-late 1970s must be given proper acknowledgement!
Don Felder got proper acknowledgement when he left in the limo. the band literally disbanded that night. they couldn't go on without him . there is his credit.
Gentleman? Have you seen video footage of the 70s? Naked women 2-a-penny, throwing themselves at him, drugged out of his head, booze, constant use of the F word, orgies. Do you know the meaning of the English word 'gentleman'?
What a wonderful musician and singer he was. What a perfect fit for the Eagles band. But what a total Ass-Hat he was as well. One of the biggest egos in musical history. He certainly broke up the Eagles almost single handedly (Don Henley did his share as well). I find it mildly interesting that since his passing, the world has decided to proclaim what a jewel of a guy he was. He was a jerk of epic proportions at times. But who really cares? It's the wealth of music he, and the Eagles, left behind that matters in the big picture, not a childish immaturity and nasty spirit recognized industry wide for his impossible-to-work-with attitude. RIP indeed. I suspect that heaven is full of great players being brow beat by old Glenn as we speak. There have certainly been a bunch of them headed up the "Stairway to Heaven" in 2016.
I was lucky enough to see Glenn Frye at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas before Glenn died. What a show! My favorite live concert ever other than the Righteous Brothers who I got to see right befkre Bobby Hatfield died. Fabulpus singers who have died and gone to heaven!
The magic left the Eagles when they canned Don Felder - Don is one of the greatest rock guitarists of his day - certainly the best in the Eagles (yes, including Joe).
Glenn, Don would you PLEASE forgive Felder and let him back in the band?. Felder does amazing charity work, is a father, husband, and most of all an Eagle! After all he is only human with many flaws like everyone else. He's hurting and only you guys can help mend this broken heart. We love you all and life is SO short, please?

@skating83 I agree with that statement. People always give Eddie Van Halen credit on everything, regardless of whether he wrote lyrics or not, but Don Felder doesn't deserve it? Lyrics are hard, but coming up with good music can be just as hard. Mozart's operas were written by others, but the music he put to them is some of the greatest music ever written. I love Frank Sinatra, but guys like Nelson Riddle or Count Basie put as much gold in his recordings as he did.
Glen frey liked the fuckin Gorillaz thats dope.. I'll never forget when i passed away, I stayed up late listening to classic Eagles tunes, especially Take It Easy which will always have a special place in my heart cause the 1st women I fell in love with Loved that song
I wouldn't ever go see them again without Felder.......he was always my favorite Eagle and always will be, talented beyond words and the chemistry between Walsh and him is classic and can never be replaced...EVER, Frey and Henley are just greedy little asses IMO..
This dude was seriously talented, had it not been for him you would have never heard of Randy Meisner or Don Felder, it takes more than talent to become super successful and famous, the Eagles were as big as the Beatles and Led Zep.
It seems to be a popular thing to "slam" or speak in disparaging terms about leaders of pop bands, as people do of Glen Frey or Eagles & Mike Love of The Beach Boys...And, it seems to me that when Glen observes that The Eagles are WAY bigger than any one guy in the group is. He says: "In this second incarnation of The Eagles, it's been pretty smooth sailin'!". I find Frey to be a reasonably-down-to-earth guy myself. But, fact is, I've got "No ax to grind"! We should all live and be well!
The Olympia.. I saw the Red Wings during a practce session there. I think they tore that place down years ago. They have been playing at Joe Louis for years now.
Your comnents about the team work are 100% correct. To fair that is not really the issue. The issue is that Frey and Henley were denying another equal who was part of 'The Eagles Incorporated' his right to discuss the money share. Don Felder had every right to ask as he was part of that group. Schmidt and Walsh were not and have never been asked to join after all these years. The other thing too is that if Frey and Henley had nothing to hide then why not deliver some transparency on the matter.
The songwriters almost always have called the shots, egs. Beatles, Stones, Floyd, The Who, The Police, The Beach Boys and on and on. How can one not have realized that?
My family are all Detroiters. It's nice to hear a drop for the city that once was. That said, Birmingham has never been "Detroit". Fry came from an advantage of upper suburban privilege. The MC5, Funkadelic and punk bands from the 70's and 80's (flint included) carved an edge that defined hard rock and Detroit as a hard rock City. Fry is an awesome part of top 40 pop from Michigan (despite cheesy Kid Rock, and phony Nugent and Eminem), like Bob Seger, Iggy Pop, but they all moved.
I agree totally with "Hoplite Warlord".......The Beatles were the only bad that could outshine the "Eagles"...........If you are truly into meaningful lyrics and melodies that stay in your mind awake or asleep. Rest in Peace Glenn. Alot of us grew up with you starting in the 70's til now and have our record collections that are like manuals to how to make great albums to most bands today. It hit me hard it was loosing John Lennon all over again when Glenn passed on suddenly.
Oh my did you just state a stupid thing. Since 1969, the year the Beatles broke up, you can't think of other great lyricists like maybe, Bruce Springsteen, Peter Gabriel, Dire Straits, Santana, Crosby, Stills & Nash, David Bowie, Elton John, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, James Taylor, Neil Young, Neil Diamond, INXS, Jessi Colin Young, Jim Morrison, Van Morrison, Tom Petty, Stevie Wonder, Foreigner, Journey, Fleetwood Mac, Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Boz Scaggs, BB King, The Who, Rolling Stones, Hall & Oates, Jackson Browne, Huey Lewis, Ray Charles, Diana Ross and U2. You have a dose of brain freeze.
+Craig Gomez Read what I wrote. It's a fact the Beatles sold more records and had more hits than any other group. Dumb ass (get ur facts right). DIre Straits didnt come out til the 80's FYI also. Shows you know nothing
itschallenger I wasn't talking about when idiot, I am talking about lyricists. You said, The Beatle wrote the best lyrics which is absolutely absurd. The Beatles didn't sell more records and were only together for 7 years. The Eagles Greatist Hits is the highest selling album of all time. And, with the passing of Frey, will no doubt break it's own record with the increase in sales. Are you going to deny Mark Knopfler's talent with lyrics because, in your mind, the eighties don't count. We are talking purely lyrics and to give credit to just one single band and ignore all the people I listed is just stupid and ignorant. I want to hold your hand is hardly a lyrical marvel. You are the one who needs to do the research.
One more point you overlook is, the alluding to how Eagles wrote the manual to how to make albums to todays bands is irrelevant and a moot point. The digital age and demise of record companies has completely changed the music industry to the point of, those how to manuals no longer exist. Music is virtual music reproduced by a microchip in a computer. It isn't real. Back then, you had to know how to play a guitar, piano and drums. Even vocals today are enhanced and choreographed by a computer. As Joe Walsh has said, there's nobody testifying anymore. No mojo which is what makes listening to music the most wonderful experience in the world. No, the manuals have been thrown outin favor of faking your way threw it. RobinThicke is a perfect example of a fake.

RIP indeed. I suspect that heaven is full of great players being brow beat by old Glenn as we speak. There have certainly been a bunch of them headed up the "Stairway to Heaven" in 2016.
i love that man .. he so amazin :)
Good interview!
Thanks man
I was lucky enough to see Glenn Frye at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas before Glenn died. What a show! My favorite live concert ever other than the Righteous Brothers who I got to see right befkre Bobby Hatfield died. Fabulpus singers who have died and gone to heaven!
wow I never knew glenn was a big clapton fan, like me, it just made me smile abit, made me think we are that little more alike than i thought.
It isn't the artist, it's the music. If you didn't know any of the drama or the ugly secrets you'd still love thwe music.
The magic left the Eagles when they canned Don Felder - Don is one of the greatest rock guitarists of his day - certainly the best in the Eagles (yes, including Joe).
was gonna say something snarky about him plugging the album at the end but really it's okay
Felder snubbed the band when they did charity work and he didn't want to do it.

It’s funny that you brought up EVH, another great musician but as a human being, not so much. He proved that with how he treated Michael Anthony.
100% agreed on what you have said here
Got another one for you. Sleeper Agent - great young band!
Face got jackhammered out of Rushmore(original 5 faces), That's the funniest thing I've heard this month!! Nice job Johnny Unitas down there.
Fry says 'you know' more than a high school freshman in a speech 101 class. Those Marlboroughs through the years took there toll on that skin.
Glenn was very strong desiring for leading or managing and control on band. He looks like that the Eagles band is mine
Such a cool men,,ll be miss FOR SURE !,,,,,,
The Olympia.. I saw the Red Wings during a practce session there. I think they tore that place down years ago. They have been playing at Joe Louis for years now.
glenn frey R.I.p
Your comnents about the team work are 100% correct. To fair that is not really the issue. The issue is that Frey and Henley were denying another equal who was part of 'The Eagles Incorporated' his right to discuss the money share. Don Felder had every right to ask as he was part of that group. Schmidt and Walsh were not and have never been asked to join after all these years. The other thing too is that if Frey and Henley had nothing to hide then why not deliver some transparency on the matter.
Great singer and composer !!! Thats all
So why is it that we always find interviews with british press, and noone from america .. thank god for the movie History of the Eagles..
A true gentleman never shows unkindness, never uses so much profanity at that either
His language was littered with the F word, when he was young.
Miss the man!
I can't even count the number of times I heard the phrase "you know" in this video lol hahaha
And while I am on it, how the fuck can you not include David Bowie who passed just a week before Frey.
