Hi Danny thank you so much for this video. It was super helpful. I use the phantom LUTS and edit in FCPX. Would I only apply the Phantom lut and then achieve the look? Or use the Sony conversion AND the Phantom lut?
Cool video. Question: Did you follow all the instructions for setting up the Leeming LUTS? There's a whole guide included, and might help with the exposure issue. Also, I think your Color Checker is for Photography, not video, which uses a different set of color patches for calibration/correction. Cheers!
Thanks! And yeah, followed the whole pdf many times and got the same results 🤷🏻♂️ Also, yeah, colour checker is the photography version however the specific chips for what i’m testing isn’t that far off 🤷🏻♂️ but full appreciate what you’re saying 🙌🏻
Me too. Always over exposed in camera by 1.5 to 2 stops and still always had to crank up the exposure in post with the Leeming LUTS. Kind of put me off using SLog3 but will switch LUTS and try to get back into it.
A is easily the most colour accurate - the sky needs to look right. You really need to try Alistair Chapman's S-log conversion LUTS - better than Sony's official LUTS.
Hello Danny :-). Cheers for the vid. Agree about Leeming LUTS. I always always always under expose my footage for this LUT, often up to 2 stops! Should really switch to another but have been using S-Cinetone for a while now (lazy me). Need to get back to SLog3 I guess, but move away from the Leeming LUT which has been putting me off. Nice to see you. Hope all is well.
@@DannyBligh yes I should. I'll try the Sony LUT to see if I can cope with getting the exposure right in camera and go from there. Cheers and very happy to see you back on YT.

Whenever I see a video about luts I know they're not using Davinci. 🤣
