The 5D Mk III remains a brilliant choice, its quality remains even after a decade, I still use it alongside my R5 for professional assignments.
In have always bought secondhand, and today, on the reputable second hand website I use, a 5D Mk III, excellent condition, 113k shutter count, £439, and a EF 50mm f1.2 L lens, £544, excellent condition, both in their original boxes etc, a mega setup for just under £1,000 - not small change admittedly, but the 5D Mk III is a phenomenal setup, even with just a ‘nifty fifty’ for £45.

I’ve been tempted to sell my 5diii a few times and put the money towards a newer r5 or r5ii but everytime I take the 5diii out, I fall back in love with it lol 😂
They are GREAT cameras. Which is why I’d recommend one over a newer aps-c mirrorless for a beginner. These pro features at that price is quite the entry into photography

@@jaredcollins-photo only ever thought I’d sell it once, and immediately decided, it was still worth more to me than its value on the market 😀
Also, and maybe because it was the camera that launched my career, I still have the emotional attachment to it, something the magnificent R5 does not .

That’s true, the value $ at this point isn’t a great bit of cash, so it may be worth more in my hands from time to time lol 😂

Got it recently and I absolutely love it. Although, because of its weight, it's not always my first choice for full frame, if I need something lighter and don't care about the faster autofocus and the additional focus points, I usually grab my 6D, same sensor and also an amazing camera for the price.

Yea, they are really well built so they aren’t very light. I actually always make mine heavier by adding a battery grip. Mine is always on a shoulder sling so I don’t mind the weight, but having the extra battery capacity is nice

I bought a mint 5DII this year for $300. It still makes great images, and the EF L glass is getting more affordable every month. The 5D's are built like a tank.

I have a 5D, 5DSR, and a 1DX markii.......the 5DSR us the most ridiculous camera I own. The Glory shots from the 5 D are simply mystical and for my soccer buddy's I have the 1D. I would legit say any of the 5D's you really can't go wrong. Happy imaging everyone....have a safe and prosperous 2025🤙😎🤙

Glad you agree. I just picked up a 5Dmkiii with a 24-105 f4L lenses for about 650$us it and the lens are like new. For that price I can’t get a good new body let alone a lens.

The “then” PRO features packed in the 5diii are still an amazing value even 12 years later. I love mine

I sold my A73 and purchased a Fujifilm X-H2s for its 14 stops of dynamic range and variety of color as a means of having something that comes close to my 5D3 with ML and Dane's build, only with IBIS and A/F. I got their three top lenses 18mm 33mm and 56mm, along with a few SIRUI anamorphic that all come with f1... apertures. I even got an adapter for my EF lenses. The picture quality on modern Fuji and Sony doesn't come close to what the 5D3 produces in filmic quality. A recurring customer is a singer songwriter who now demands the 5D3 on set when recording sessions with him. Sadly, the 5D3 is useless for any non-static shots. It stays on a tripod at all times. I will give the Fujifilm the edge on still image quality just based on the option to load custom film recipe's. The magic from the 5D3 and 5D2 is completely absent in the RF Canon lineup. The RF cameras are super sharp and nail detail, but lack any iotta of character.

      I can agree.
Honestly, I think almost ALL of the modern cameras are a bit "too sharp" for my preference. There's a very pleasing softness (but not un-sharp) that comes out of the 5diii.
Like I said, I still use mine often today on client work. They're still a great value, especially for someone who's just getting started in photography.

Click, like, comment, subscribe, and get on with your life.. dont waste time with these old cameras. Get yourself a R5 if you want to make it professionally. I am not a professional, but i can tell you...aint no wedding clients want to know that the photographer can't catch the Big Day Moment because he can't afford a decent Face tracking camera. If you are in wedding biz... get a Canon R5M2. It's worth the upgrade from R5.

@jaredcollins-photo you must know how to talk to the bride and feel how she feels on the wedding day. That camera will generate loud clicking sounds during the entire weddinganf she won't be happy with the image results.

I would check with keh.com or mpb.com but I’m not 100% certain on their international shipping. You can also sometimes find good examples on eBay as well

    500 $ is 480 €, I hope to get more if I sell my 5DIII. Still a great camera but I prefer my R6.

    • @jaredcollins-photo
      @jaredcollins-photo  10 часов назад

Yea... The r6 is 8 years newer and ~$1,000 more expensive on the used market.. Again, I'm not suggesting someone go "backwards" in their gear lineup.
This video was intended to offer someone an affordable first camera or a great option to jump into Full-Frame photography.
As far as selling is concerned, I consistently see them on keh.com for $400-$600 body only.

@@jaredcollins-photo The 5DIII is indeed a great beginners camera. (Semi)pro camera's are actually easier in use then entry level camera's.

Interesting, but I can buy a Lumix GH5 or G9 for about the same price. Obviously very different cameras but an interesting thought experiment.

Yes, you can, but they’re both micro 4/3 sensors which isn’t the same as Full Frame. Not everyone needs full frame, but those 3 are very different cameras
