      Air Force has had troops on the ground doing ISR since WW II. This AFSC (MOS) is new the mission is not new. The mission SET may include new missions now. Each service has its own weapon platforms, munitions and engagement requirements. Environment assesment for possible targets, drop zones, electronic monitor placement sites may be quite AF specific. Another sevices may perform the mission but not be as familiar with AF mission requirements or AF equipment. All EOD techs study blocks on how to render safe ground ordinance, air ordinance, and underwater ordinance. But guess which services have the most experience for each of those ordinance types ordinance type?.

    • @mugshotmarley
      @mugshotmarley 2 года назад +1

      Right. It would be smarter to take a man out of whatever army, usmc or navy smu and train them on the small surveillance drone or other surveillance tools. It would be easier. Actually thinking about it now, those guys don't want to be in the back watching the action through a drone and would rather be upfront kicking doors and/or pulling triggers. This afsc is just a combat suppprt and not the cqb trigger pulling stuff.

    Lolz. The Air Force working hard to stay
    relevant-ish. If one wants to be a grunt, join the Marines and be an 03 like I did. Or perhaps join the Army and be an 11bang-bang like my brother. The Air Farce is rushing to fill a void that doesn’t exist w/ “special forces.” Like the hard charging special forces weathermen - no shit, that’s a thing now.
    What this is really about is funding. The USAF found itself desperately looking for something to do that doesn’t involve planes and pilots - you know, typical air force shit - during OEF and OIF.
    The USAF, working hard at pretending to be something they aren’t - INFANTRY!!!!

      Congrats on not knowing what enablers are. SR, CCTs, TACPs, and PJs are all enablers. They get attached to units to do very particular objectives. They aren't infantry, and they don't intend on becoming infantry. CCTs and TACPs go on more deployments on average than most infantry men these days because they get attached to SOF units so frequently.
