Joshua Tamir Personally, It was tough but I loved every minute of it. You’re constantly tired, constantly sore and always alert/paranoid/paying attention which is a part of it. Once you’ve made it through prep and are on team you get acclimated to it all and though the PT still kills you by the time you are on a team the thing that will wash you back or out will be the technical learning and then the application of it. By then usually all the quitters are gone and you can get dialed in on really learning everything. At anytime Cadre can destroy your life so always remain on top of yourself don’t become lax. When I was at Medina the number one killer was Block two field for night navigation. If you fail any event once you can refire and if you fail again you get washed back. Generally you can only get washed back 3 times before you get washed out completely. Being on team was a lot more manageable than going thru prep mainly because Cadre would only destroy your life for little over an hour vs in prep some days it was well over three. But food was good but enough weekends were usually your own unless your team lead wanted to go over things. But you are getting paid to workout pretty much and then learning some pretty amazing skill sets. It’s hard work but you get what you put into And you will reap the rewards and or failures. Either way you learn from it. Adapt and you be better for it. It’s a brotherhood there and I’ve met life long friends.
Wouldn’t trade my experience there for anything in the world.

This video really caught my attention. My father was stationed at Osan AB back during Desert Storm. Osan is also where he met my mother and where they married. I was born in Seoul on a Army base. Many years later, here I am, doing research on the TACP unit and seeing where it began. Korea has changed a lot since then. I remember seeing the one VHS tape my father filmed with his camcorder when I was only a few months old.
You guys are really active, I always thought it would mostly be admin work. It's always great to see a A-10 flying by. These planes were my childhood favorite. My father would speak how amazing they sound.

When I was deployed we saw all the TGP footage from our jets, especially when we knew our stuff was getting controlled by a guy on the ground rather than a PrePlanned Strike. *Not going to lie here* When the video started and your alarm said 5:45 I was like "wow thats so late, maintainers on days are up at like 4 or 5 am..." then you went to workout and I went "Yea I will take the loss of 45 min of sleep over doing that... pass big pass." SF can be awesome - but I have a conspiracy theory that Big AF doesn't want it to be... they don't put a high priority on additional training such as Airborne, Air Assault, or other schools. If you can petition for a PSD or JDET - you'll get assigned TDA to AFOSI and actually get to do some cool stuff vs flightline or Gates.

With you there. buddy. No choice about getting the new AFSC. Then because it was a new career field, no way to cross train out of the field. Came over for a couple Team Spirit exercises and then stationed at CRC. Nightmare range was always a cold experience. We were fortunate, having heaters in our jeeps. The food was great when you stopped on the roadside and ate at the mom and pop places. Korean FACs were very interesting doing CAS training missions.
