The AF should have a smut that's based on Army Ranger small unit fighting organization and tactics as that's basically the min std for Army SF that AF goes to war with. It should also be extended to AF security units that are so critical to asset protection.

First off I got to say thanks for talking about these subjects so in depth. I can't wait to see this channel grow over the next year. I was unsure of what I wanted to do in the Air Force until I came across this channel and heard you guys describe the roles and the type of people who fit those roles. However I've gotten mixed responses in regards to if you should pursue a role as a CCT/PJ/SR as soon as join the Air Force. I've been told that it may be better to wait until you can retrain for various reasons. What are your guys thoughts on joining and waiting vs joining right off the street?
Thank you guys for this video. I was a conventional WX weeny for 20 years and got to work with the 26 STS SOWT on WX training as a contractor while the transition to SR was just getting underway. So, I got to do some cool training like avalanche 1 and soil class in MS. It was a great contractor job. My question is the SR career field still doing tactical surface obs and riverine training? IMO those skill sets would definitely benefit the SR environmental data collection. I think the direction you guys are going in SR is a good thing plus the better integration within the STSs.
With the airforce sending 3 out of the 4 ground units going through the special operations pipeline I feel like they almost got all their bases covered to have their own special operations teams as opposed attaching to other units. They got medical, recon, two different air asset versions- sheesh they could just make their own "Seal Teams" "SF" groups.
There are situations that dictate USAF unilateral action but being able to step into a sister service team and perform is a unique capability with broad impacts. -T
Great info! Thanks a lot! Is an SR contract available for the Guard and/or reserves? I see that Combat Weather was available in the guard, but can’t find if SR is for sure. Thank you!
I'm really having a hard time choosing between going weather technician or trying to go for special reconnaissance. Any advice both welcomed, and appreciated.
By weather technician do you mean regular Air Force weather man or SOWT? SR is the rebranded SOWT AFSC so you wouldnt have a choice there really. If you're meaning a regular USAF weather guy then there's a very large difference. You can choose to go the tough route and train your balls off and go through a long ass pipeline for a funny hat and not regret a minute of it, or you can take it easy and go through a normal tech school and have a normal job and be content with where you are. Nothing wromg with it but they are very, very different careerfields for very different people.
I keep on procrastinating when it comes to going to see the recruiter and ask about AFSOC. I had asthma as a kid but currently I’m able to run 6 minute miles no problem, and I’m at the top of my physical performance. But I’m nervous about what the answer is going to be, if I can even join the military or not due to my medical history. I don’t know if I was diagnosed with asthma but I do remember taking advair as a kid. I don’t think I had any issues after turning 13.
Sorry that I’m a new subscriber 😅but I really enjoy your content and this video was really helpful! I’m currently mentally and physically prepping myself for journey ahead.. I honestly feel like this video gave me a major headstart
So if you get an Afspecwar open enlisted contract, after A&S is that when the cadre will suggest or point towards a career field? I’ve always wanted to help people and from firefighter to PJ was the goal. But with people talking about SR being a new unit and like the Wild West essentially, it makes a ton of intrigue.
Trying to find info, current Combat Engineer USMC, looking to come over. When will spots open up? Was told to keep calling back and checking up from multiple special warfare recruiters who have never been in special warfare units.

I have watched all about CCT, PJ, and SR nearly all the videos on this channel and im more confused than ever on which one i want to go for. All of them have such awesome interesting capabilities and skill sets. Is there any in particular thats needing more man power heading into 2023? Or is there an opportunity to switch if one does need more man-power earlier in the pipeline? Well later in the podcast they talked about this specifically haha
I’m not in AFSOC or even in the AF but I can tell you that right now, right after GWOT there is some downsizing going on. Rightfully so. I’m not saying it’s gonna be a massive thing but optempo is down significantly across all of the DOD so take from you want from that. DOD will ALWAYS need highly skilled people to fill the ranks, don’t get it twisted
I'm a nerd and couldn't decide between PJ and CCT but now seeing/hearing what SR is all about I'm all in. Do they have any prep courses or can I contact the 330th Recruiting Squadron to learn more and be better prepared? I live in San Antonio and they are right down the road.
@@Michael-id3vx No. I got offered a good career opportunity but the company that picked me up went out of business. I got a lot of good experience from it though. Still unemployed at the moment so I'm going to start working out and talking with a recruiter once I can hit their goals comfortably.
I would love to do Special Reconnaissance for the Air Force. My father is a Marine and this type of route is one that'll be amazing to be apart of. What ASVAB score is needed to try and enlist into this program? Online I keep seeing 66, 50, 77 on general but I don't know which score is correct? Which sections on the ASVAB need a high score specifically for this type of job? I understand there isn't a guarantee in landing a role especially after the ASVAB
@@OnesReady How difficult it is to get enrolled into the program? What can an individual due to increase their chances of enrollment? Is there anyone (other than a recruiter) I can speak to with experience in the program? Any point of contact would be greatly appreciated
Can you help me understand what you’re asking? It looks Ike you’re asking ‘how hard is it to enlist for SR’ and ‘other than a recruiter who can I talk to’? If so- the recruiter is your one stop shop. 2, do you mean an individual SR guy? My bad if I didn’t understand correctly, just not getting your meaning. - A
@@OnesReady The first question was how difficult it will be to get into the program? As in, is there a statistic rate on the individuals that qualify? How many enlist and don't make it? (Other than the ASVAB) Last question was if there is an individual who is apart of SR that I can speak with? I've already spoken with a recruiter but I was given general information about the program. Talking with an actual special reconnaissance individual would be beneficial as I get to speak with one, hear their experience, and so on and so forth. If possible? My apologies for the late response.
@@OnesReady Thank you! I am looking into joining Air Force Special Warfare as an Officer. Can you suggest an officer career where I would conduct reconnaissance, go long range shooting or search rooms?
We are predominantly in enlisted force, and our enlisted members are the tactical tacticians. As an officer, you’ll get the ability to do that stuff for about three years on team but after that, you go into more leadership roles versus being an actual team member. Still, your best bet is going Special Tactics Officer.
Question. Will SR be an independent reconnaissance team in theater, continue to attach to other SOF units, incorporate other Special Tactics AFSCs within their recon missions, or all of the above?
Right now they'll be part of the ST package, and operate in small teams with support in the future. There may come a time when their skills are requested from other agencies, sure, but not right now.
I wish SR had medics on the team. This job sounds fucking dope and right up my alley but I am currently an EMT and in Paramedic school and dont want that training or certifications to go to waste
Pj’s, CCT’s, SR’s and SOF TACP’s will all be working together in teams due to the current near peer environment. Although they can be attached to other branches’ sof teams, from what I heard, the AF wants to have teams that can act independently. So just go for pararescue if you want the medic stuff.
SR doesn’t act as it’s own team- they work in extremely small footprints. And their ‘medics’ are PJs. Charles Xiong is correct- if you want to do medicine, PJ is for you. If you want to do SR, you won’t have the Paramedic currency. Choices.
What happened 2 all the CWT? Did they get 2 go out for SR? But I no there was more schools in the Pipeline, like,CCT/PJ. When they go out, do they go with a team, of other SR, or do they attachv, 2 like a SFODA?
Don’t take my word as the 100% correct answer but last time I looked into it you need to sign a 6 year contract for and spec war job because the pipelines are so long, and normally if you fail they will assign you to a different afsc, from what I have heard most people that fail out end up in security forces
I have been looking for a Cyber Special Forces that doesnt sit in an office and this seems to be the closest thing to that. I'm definitely interested What kind of civilian jobs would this translate to?
I'm 32 and I served with the Army National Guard. I have been out for the last eight years. I want go TACP or SR. Do I need to get into contact with a regular Air National Guard recruiter or an Airforce Special Warfare recruiter for a fitness test? Any information is helpful. Thank you.

I’m ready to join . 😤
life long learner this is intrinsic to me
He said “ I want the nerds that don’t quit” and I yelled ‘YUP’ cuz That’s me FOR SURE
Very true we integrate with other branches better than anyone else... USAF
Ed R, of PDTSS teaches the Air Force EOD Guy in Sut tactics to work with the SF guys. Great training.
Nice. -A
Can’t believe this video has 100k views! Great vid 🤘
So glad i found you guys!
Your welcome. This should become a movie.
Great info! Thanks a lot! Is an SR contract available for the Guard and/or reserves? I see that Combat Weather was available in the guard, but can’t find if SR is for sure. Thank you!
Raised the level of soldness x100. Thanks for the episode fellas
As an 11b .... im offended..... but alright you got me where do i sign up 😂😂
🤣
lol
Keep It To Yourself
you’re fine man. just get it cleared from a doctor and show them that it doesn’t affect you anymore
If it isn’t on your medical history they don’t know
Sorry that I’m a new subscriber 😅but I really enjoy your content and this video was really helpful!
Wouldn’t a SR team have a PJ and a CCT in it to round out the capability?
No, an ST team will have a PJ, Controller, and SR. The ability to field an entire team of SR is way, way down the road.
@@OnesReady Thanks for clearing that up for me. BTW G'day from Australia, I am Ex-RAAF.
Awesome episode with RJ!!!!
SR United! Former LRS NCO. sending love brother. My buddy who’s an 0321 headed your way to be a cadre a while ago. Best of luck brothers.
Hell yeah, another great upload!
Trying to find info, current Combat Engineer USMC, looking to come over. When will spots open up? Was told to keep calling back and checking up from multiple special warfare recruiters who have never been in special warfare units.
This is gonna be way more fun than pj
GASP! Kidding. Like Aaron said, it’s definitely an awesome capability.
@@OnesReady I’m the only one in my dev group who wants it. I remember talking with my recruiter about the fields and he was like SR is new, not a lot of information out on it, but it sounded like a challenge that I would like. But I can’t wait to try my best and go for it
@@Ion_Motion0117 don’t worry man. Just graduated prep and I think we have about 15 or 16 SR hard vector guys here me being one of them too. Hope to see you out here soon
@@omarpinedajr347 Me too man. I can’t wait to meet new people
@@omarpinedajr347 How'd you do at A@s?
Congrats SR on your new career field. 🤜🏼🔥🔥🤛🏼
I know someone other than the Ones Ready crew can answer this. Are their officers for SR? i only see info regarding CRO and STO. Thanks in advance, any info is appreciated 🙏
Also, does anyone know if there's waivers for the age cutoffs? There are for things like SEAL and SF. Thanks 👍
Is there currently a need for cross trainees in SR? Compared to Pj and CCT how many slots will likely be available?
SR needs operators. From all streams, cross trainees included.
Thank you, looking forward to putting my package in
This seems a bit similar to the British Special Reconnaissance unit.
We copy the British when it comes to spec forces!
@@speedracer2336 The brits pioneered SOF and were the best in the world, arguably still are. Only a prideful idiot would not take advantage of what they were willing to share.
I'm seriously stoked about this! Very excited to see where this goes. Judging off the other AFSOC careers which are truly the absolute masters of their craft...these guys are gonna be the best goddamn recce troops in existence. That is a promise. USAF vet HUA!!! Kind of funny...it's like the ugly girl in grade school that grows up to be the hottest thing around. They done took the least known, and probably most looked down upon (falsley mind you!) SOF field in existence and made it probably the most badass SOF field there ever was. Sweet.
You’re going to make a great security forces airman
My future job
Beeeeen waiting on this
I'm a nerd and couldn't decide between PJ and CCT but now seeing/hearing what SR is all about I'm all in. Do they have any prep courses or can I contact the 330th Recruiting Squadron to learn more and be better prepared? I live in San Antonio and they are right down the road.
Did you follow through?
@@Michael-id3vx No. I got offered a good career opportunity but the company that picked me up went out of business. I got a lot of good experience from it though. Still unemployed at the moment so I'm going to start working out and talking with a recruiter once I can hit their goals comfortably.
Avy safety is huge. Good looks
Can you guys possibly talk about how SOCOM is actually going to utilize this career field? Or is that something still being discussed?
Already being used. The capability is growing to address emerging threats.
Theyve been pulling some crazy stuff around the globe. Theyve been getting after it since being stood up in '19.
They are so secretive because they are part of the Stargate command

Is Teal'c still around?
@@username8129 Indeed
What kind of combat does SR see? I am interested in it but also interested in Army Ranger or Green Beret
Supporting other SOF units, I pulled this information out of my ass. I think at least they are capable of doing this
It seems like 1 or 2 them get attached to other SOF teams. If you’re looking for a more direct action look into Rangers/SEALs/MARSOC.
You need to score a 50 on the ASVAB to initially qualify for SWOE-V/SR. - A
@@OnesReady How difficult it is to get enrolled into the program?
(Other than the ASVAB)
Last question was if there is an individual who is apart of SR that I can speak with? I've already spoken with a recruiter but I was given general information about the program.
Talking with an actual special reconnaissance individual would be beneficial as I get to speak with one, hear their experience, and so on and so forth. If possible?
My apologies for the late response.
Any info on SR in the Air Guard? Like what the day to day would look like? Training and deployments? Compared to active duty.
Outstanding job!!!!
Hey!
That was a great video, but I have a question: What is the officer equivalent of the Special Reconnaissance?
SR doesn’t have a specific officer, they use Special Tactics Officers, Combat Rescue Officers, and TACP Officers.
@@OnesReady Alright. Thanks for the info. Just want to make a right choice.
Excellent video.
Thanks, glad you’re digging it.
Just curious, how much of the training is swimming/based? I am interested but still learning how the basics of swimming
Thinking to re enlist, go into SR.
Most thankful for the videos. Was looking into special warfare is there any of you guys I could contact to ask some questions? Please
Choices.
We need a war stories podcast
Given that SR goes through LRTI; would it stand to reason that opportunities as SR could be recommended for sniper training?
Sniper school is a requirement for our NCO’s.
@@OnesReady That... would make sense... Thanks, again, for all the content.
@@OnesReady in the FXT event, which rifle would be used for the 800 yard targets?
What happened 2 all the CWT? Did they get 2 go out for SR? But I no there was more schools in the Pipeline, like,CCT/PJ. When they go out, do they go with a team, of other SR, or do they attachv, 2 like a SFODA?
I got two questions. 1) how long is the contract? 2) what happens if you fail/quit? Do you have to pick an mos like in the navy?
Don’t take my word as the 100% correct answer but last time I looked into it you need to sign a 6 year contract for and spec war job because the pipelines are so long, and normally if you fail they will assign you to a different afsc, from what I have heard most people that fail out end up in security forces
I have been looking for a Cyber Special Forces that doesnt sit in an office and this seems to be the closest thing to that. I'm definitely interested
What kind of civilian jobs would this translate to?
So basically what SR does is *this post has been censored for violating terms of service*
Yep, alright…SR is what I’m gonna do. See you in a couple years. #earneachbreath
Howdy to Nephew Trent! - from yer Uncle Kelly!
With how new SR is how many changes do you foresee to there capabilities and missions
I think i need that box that tells me stuff
Just be careful, the box doesn’t always tell you what you want to hear
I'm 32 and I served with the Army National Guard. I have been out for the last eight years. I want go TACP or SR. Do I need to get into contact with a regular Air National Guard recruiter or an Airforce Special Warfare recruiter for a fitness test? Any information is helpful. Thank you.
