I so needed this today! Been having a rough time with my 17 month old lately and your realness about the tantrums and whining for every little thing is so appreciated. Although we know it's just a stage doesn't always make it easier. Thank you for showing the rough times as well 💕

I find just taking my son to the park or a walk some where lifts my mood especially if it’s sunny, plus it breaks up the day a bit. Taking him into the garden just never felt like I got out of the house so going out definitely helps for me anyway.
I used to work in a nursery and I was always told no weather is bad weather just bad choice of clothing. Wrap those babies up and yourself and go for a nice walk around your neighbourhood.

My son turned 2 yesterday and we literally spent the past 3 weeks doing EXACTLY what you did last night…sleeping on the floor next to his crib with our hand through the slat rubbing his back. We were tired as heck and our backs hurt….it was awful! Thankfully he seems to be on the other side of it now and has slept through the night the past 3 nights. Regressions are real and they suck! Hang in there momma….hopefully it’ll be over soon! Xoxo

Kayla I’m so happy to hear that you are watching flav City! Spend some time watching and learning about the ingredients we daily consume. And get ready to spend more money on food quality. Jackson is so adorable!! This phase will pass soon. Kayla, once again for Riley, I would try to sit with them too to have lunch. Maybe you can have some snack with them. Everyone sitting at the table, she will need to sit on a booster and turn off all the electronics and maybe sing a song o read a book with them together while they eat their lunch. I promise you this will be a life changer. This won’t be a two day change, it takes time and More important CONSISTENCY. Parenting isn’t an easy job at all, but trying things won’t make it harder. Try it! I also want to start reading more this year.

Hope Jackson's sleep regression passes soon. I feel your pain...My two-year-old had NEVER slept through the night! She wakes up at least one time every night. I cannot wait for the first full night of sleep for her and I in over 2 years!!! The bags under my eyes are now a permanent fixture!!

I don't remember if I've said this before or not, but what helps my daughter to eat a little faster is no TV for lunch or supper (she has TV for breakfast) and I make sure to sit down with her and tell her we are eating together as a family and I make sure to emphasize that we are having family time, so no TV for lunch or supper. And if she doesn't finish her food, she gets no snacks or candy or dessert until she does. So if she says she's full, I save the plate up and make sure to tell her that she doesn't get snacks until she finishes her lunch/dinner. And we always have the toys out of reach or try to have a clean up time before lunch that way she's not tempted to get up and go play while it is time to sit and eat. For dinner though, we always make sure to clean up all her toys.
So it may help to all sit at your dining room table together and eat together. Even if you just have something small. But it will also help to get you to get some food in your system and make an actual lunch for yourself. 💕

Luckily in VA you get those lovely random warm days. Definitely enjoy those! And you can try making Riley a picture schedule and using a visual timer. I use a candle looking timer in my pre-k class that gets smaller as time runs out. Help her understand that she has a set amount of time to eat her food before she loses her iPad.

Over the weekend me and my husband binge watched Archive 81, it’s on Netflix. It will have you on the edge of your seat. So good!
And I have been following Bobby for YEARS. I have learned so much from him. Him and his family eat Keto/paleo. I’m always jealous that his daughter eats every type of food you can think of lol. I have one of there cookbooks that use just 5 ingredients.

I would recommend definitely getting outside with the kids at least a couple of times a week, for yourself and them. Even if it’s cold and you have to wrap up really warm and take a quick power walk with a pram, there are so many things for them to look at and just the change of scenery and fresh air always makes me feel great and passes a bit of time where you don’t have to ‘plan’ anything to do - just wander! 😊 x

Also, I didn't mention it on your goals video, but tomatoes and cucumbers are by far the easiest to grow! Just need to make sure you water them and set them up right. 😊
Cucumbers are a vining plant, so they need something to grow up and tomatoes need a cage around them.

A suggestion I have is to copy what preschools and kindergarten classes do... about once a month, there's a theme change. Then activities, snacks etc are in that theme. September is apples and trees; October is fall leaves and pumpkins; November is harvesting and vegetables... as you might imagine. Children seem to really thrive on routine, so maybe plan a different craft for mornings for an hour- then clean up. Free play with toys until clean up. Lunch and story time. A walk after lunch (yes, pretty much every day, with coats and hats 🧥😉🧤) then nap or rest time. Being outdoors even 15 minutes a day in the winter should be energizing for you and a little exercise for the kiddos. We do it in Colorado and Chicago, unless it's blizzarding. Maybe you can watch the kids and enjoy a cup of coffee ☕️

No, don’t like taking child outside when it’s miserable 😭 but houses in UK are half the size of houses in US (and probably more expensive 🙈) and the only thing worse than going out in the cold with him is staying inside for a whole day 😄 He goes nuts and takes me down with him 😄

I JUST found out about the 2 year sleep regression yesterday. My son will be 2 at the end of the month. But we have been struggling with him sleeping enough during the day for his naps. This whole month of January has been stressful. Because I remote into work while he naps and 45 minutes to and hour ain't cutting it. So I'm hoping that's what's happening. And for the first time in ever the last two months I've gotten him sleeping through most nights. So I'm not excited about a regression. LOL!! We're finally making progress!! Honestly, I'd rather him sleep all night than a nap. But you know how it goes. LOL!!

I can feel myself getting tired and depressed if I don’t get enough sunlight if it’s really cold we aim for 10-20 min outside. If it’s about 32 then we try for 30 minutes.

Yes ! My two year old is also going through a sleep regression started around 22 months. Now she is 26 months and she only gets up once in a while. We just made her crib into a toddler bed hoping it might help. Especially because she has woken her little sister up with her crying(shared room). Your so good sleeping in the floor I just brought her in the bed with me lol

This might sound crazy but since I started watching your channel @2 yrs. ago I noticed Riley eats at a table by herself but with her back toward the TV.I think 2 things may help her sit still and eat her lunch. 1) Have her sit facing the TV so she can watch and eat at the same time like Jackson or 2) Jackson is old enough to sit at the table with Riley and together they might share their whole meal. Of course IDEALLY I think YOU should have the kitchen table cleared for lunch just like dinner and all sit down like a family and eat .Especially with the issues with Jackson being in a low percentile he may eat better w/ company and no distractions like the television. Why aren't you eating lunch w/ your children at the same time ? You are always saying how you'll find a whole day goes by and you haven't eaten a thing. That is also not healthy. Establish a family routine and together talk about fun things and engage the children in eating more.Maybe with Joe working from home he could take a lunch break at the same time ! Kayla, A cluttered house contributes to anxiety and possibly your depression, Even if you just put all the boxes in the garage until recycling picks them up might help clear up the room some and clear your state of mind as well. GOOD LUCK .

I suggest no TV just from my experience! 😩 I had my 2 year old son enjoy his food in front of the TV thinking it would help after a long day. Wrong 😩. He would end up not even touching his food and me threatening to turn it off just to get him to eat (which he would do one bite and be like “there, done mom” 😭🤣)

I read a book that said that things take our money, our time, and our energy. Time is money. I’ve realized I spend so much time just cleaning up and get frustrated and I’ve realized its helped so much bringing less stuff in! We all eat together as a family and I have noticed it helps my toddlers! I sit in between my kids, keep conversations going and try not to bring up them having to eat. It makes the whole experience more genuine and then they tend to eat better.

I just have to ask why you force your children to eat lunch if they’re not hungry?
And I noticed Riley fell asleep with the curtains open with the sun shining in her room wouldn’t it be more convenient to shut the curtain to make the room dark?
On a positive note Jackson is sooooo freaking cute in this vlog!!!!

I did that with my daughter when she was 2 and having nightmares- I would start out in my bed and then eventually sleep in her room.........

Go outside boo! Dress warmly and snugly and just get out there. There are appropriate clothes for all weather. Even for 20 minutes. The Dutch say there's no such thing as bad weather, just wrong clothes. Yes it's cold. But it doesn't mean u can't enjoy outdoors. It's all about a shift in perspective.

OMG I thought the crying and whining and tantrums over everything ends at 4?!? My son is 3 and it just gets worse each day. I am about to lose it as well most days...ugh lol

Sleepovers are never happening! I don't trust some randos "watching" my kids. I literally don't trust ANYBODY (except my husband) with my kids alone. I don't know who these people are or what they do in their homes. I was allowed to have sleepovers as a kid and got into way too much trouble. Serious lack of responsible adult supervision.

One of my teachers really like the Prince of Egypt. I don't mind watching certain clips of it. It's just the slavery parts I can't handle.
