Hey Kayla I love your little guy. My daughter will be 2 in a few days.
As far as tantrums, after working with mentally I’ll children for 15 years in psychiatric hospital I can tell you that honoring his emotions and asking him to show you why he’s upset and “use your words” as much as he can’t verbalize fully he will at least feel VALIDATED which is a huge part of why kids have tantrums. They feel like they aren’t being seen or understood. Calling his emotions “ugly” could make him feel that all emotions or expressing them is bad
Try to say things like use your words or show me what is bothering you. But assigning bad words to behaviors or emotions can create children who withhold their feelings and can become impaired in speech later on bc their “expression” is being deemed as bad or unwanted.
Just a little parenting tip I’ve seen work for tantrums. I’ve been dealing with them more too. Developmentally they NEED to tantrum so they can learn from you how to emotionally regulate themselves. Not simply stopping the behaviors. Hope it’s helpful and resonates.

I have to agree as someone who is studying child psychology it's so easy to dismiss because you think they are being terrors, but at this age it's because they don't know any other way and they need to be guided. It's as simple as saying "I can see your upset. What made you upset? Did it upset you I said you can't have this or that?" And I mean you can even add further later on "do you want me to leave you alone to process this? How about we try taking a deep breath and when you are ready you can tell me what's upset you?" Even just teaching the names for emotions helps, saying you are sad or you are mad helps.

Take this or leave it- what helped us get our toddler to eat more variety was constant exposure. You mentioned Jackson won’t eat what you eat for dinner- keep giving him what you give him, but maybe try every single meal putting something on his plate that you are eating. No need to suggest to him he eats it, no pressure! But he will see the food and you eating the food, and over time may take it upon himself to try it! This could take months, but it helps in the long run. HANG IN THERE! You are doing GREAT!!!

Jackson is way more verbal than my son and follows a lot of commands. You would be surprised you may be able to potty train him especially if he’s staying dry at night or nap time, taking off his diaper, and telling you if he has pee or poop. I potty trained my son at 21 months and he’s still not verbalizing he needs to go but with non verbal cues he does! I followed the 3 day potty training video that’s here on RUclips by the name Gabrielle lefty I believe. I just tried and it worked. day one was SO hard. But we powered through. Now he’s about to be 2 this month and still going strong. He does have accidents here and there and still wears a diaper for nap and night time. But I’m happy where we are! My other son didn’t get potty trained until he was 3 years 10 months. So a big difference!
Love you videos by the way! So glad we have a child close in age and I’ve been watching you since 2020! ❤️

I know I might sound crazy but the biggest, best advice I’ve gotten for food is they won’t crave flavorless food! We jumped on the Hello Fresh bandwagon and he has eaten EVERYTHING 😍
He’s 18 months, and of coarse I cut and serve him food in a manageable way for his age. But he even ate the freakin sweet chili pork! 😮
    Kids want flavorsssss
Not plain peas and seasonless stuff and I see that now!
Play with seasoning for the same dishes too. And always introduce the food in tiny taste bites by themselves so they can experiment the texture and taste and they’ll crave more if they try just a bit first 🥰

I'm with you on the picky eating. My son is the same age as Jackson and it's so hard to get him to eat ANYTHING. One thing that seemed to help my son eat PB&J's is I bought some dinosaur sandwich cut out on Amazon and he wanted to eat the sandwich after that! I also have a car one as well and it really made it fun for him! Maybe you could try that if you haven't yet? It helped my son, so I wanted to put that idea out for you! 😊

We did the absolute same with our son in regards to sleep training. If it helps, I talked to a sleep consultant in a private group I'm part of and she said that sleep training needs to be reinforced at different periods of growth and sleep regression. We would do it in 20 minute intervals since the kid is older and you only stay in the room one minute if that. You don't need to engage with them, just say i love you, momma is here, just close your eyes and go to sleep. It also took us 2 to 3 days for our son to get back to sleeping through again, they absolutely remember quickly and it clicks again. It happened two or three times for us. Best of luck momma, hope it doesn't happen again for you guys. Also, i would encourage you to keep offering things he doesn't like that all of you eat at the same time. You can also include things you know he will eat.

My son is 21 months, so not too far behind Jackson. Overall he's a good little eater but he's had a few picky moments along the way that made me want to pull my hair out. I found these things have helped us:
    - BBQ sauce or ketchup with meat
    - Blend the veggies you are eating for dinner with apple sauce or a fruit/veggie pouch. Get Jackson to help use the blender if he's keen. My son gets excited!
    - French toast has been a big hit for us. He'll get the protein from the egg. I just do an egg, a little milk and cinnamon
    - Eggy pancakes. Just an egg, some oatmeal and mashed banana. I've used grated zucchini in them too.
    Hope this helps Kayla! 😊

I could be totally wrong, but do you think Jackson may not be interested in meals because he might be filling up on milk during the day/before meals? Just a thought because I know I was doing that with my daughter & didn’t even realize it. Once I started giving her food first & then a little bit of milk later she started eating more 😊 I could be totally but just a thought because that happened to me!

Hi Kayla, I love your videos. Don’t let the doctors scare you, they scared me too but as time went by I was doing everything right and he was eating , so I stopped worrying. my Son is 24 months and he weighs like 25 pounds now, but at 2 years old I believe he was 23 “pounds and he is still very healthy.. although lately he’s been a little picky with food but I think it’s totally normal for his age.. my husbands family is definitely in the smaller side and my husband is small and I’m however average size but I was very skinny when I was a baby... so I think it’s also the genes.. you are doing a awesome job so don’t worry girl... I also give my son multi vitamins everyday..have you tried making him whole grain old fashioned oatmeal? I make oatmeal with shredded apples, peanut butter, cinnamon, whole milk and add honey to sweeten a bit but with the apples it’s already sweet or you can add ripe banana instead of apples... it tastes really good, at first my toddler didn’t want it but kept introducing it and he likes it now and it’s super healthy, you can also put other of his favorites fruits on top to get him to eat it. Hope this helps.

Is Jackson getting his second year molars? My 2yo went off food and only ate banana and raspberries for 2 weeks and at the same time her sleep was nuts like a newborn but she didn't show any signs of teething or being in pain she just seemed like she had regressed entirely. I checked her mouth and of course right up the back at the bottom a new molar was poking through. It really messed us up for a few weeks and I had to sleep train again, dealing with managing emotions and reintroduce foods again.

I'm in the same boat when it comes to eatting, can't get my 22 month old to eat much of anything, will eat some eggs with dad, has now stopped eatting lunch, will eat pasta with me for tea, tiny teddies and these apricot yoghurt bars, stresses me out every day I try all sorts of things and she just won't eat

Hi Kayla, any tips on helping a 6 month old self soothe? She wakes up every 2 hours at night and only takes 30-45 minute naps during the day. She will scream if she is not rocked to sleep and wants to nurse every 2 hours at night.

It's normal for babies to nurse at night, trust me every two hours at 6 month is pretty good! Good luck mama, you can do this 😘

I’m on the struggle bus with my 24 month old as well. He would rather eat fruit than anything else. He’s refusing to eat meat as well😑. It’s been so stressful .

My first born was so easy- he would eat alot of stuff, it was great. No issues. My second born however lol… in the same boat as Jackson. Doesn’t eat anything, and once she seems to really like something, eventually it changes and she has no interest. So that’s been great…lol

My LO is about to be 20 months in a few days and potty trained by herself. She would also take her diaper off and put her poop all over. I got tired of cleaning up the poop that I started leaving her without diapers and she just one day sat on the potty and now she uses the potty at home. She does say pee pee and caca so I know when she's going, but her language is still lacking for the most part. I think kids just develop when they're ready. Jackson is so cute it's very funny to see him in this stage cause I been watching since his birth. He's too adorable and I think you're doing an amazing job mama with both your babies

My oldest son was born Dec 7th 2019 so right around Jackson’s birthday too and he’s also 23.5lbs and he’s 32.5in so pretty much exactly the same. When he was a baby I would hear all the time from strangers how small he was but I don’t hear it anymore. Now my youngest son is less than 1% and I actually had somebody over estimate his age the other week and I could have cried lol

Ugh. The mask. My daughter is a month older than Jackson and that struggle is hard. Plus we’re trying to correct an eye issue which require glasses. Which battle do I choose? The eyes of course, especially since we go nowhere. I am so over the judging looks when we do have to go out. Parenting is hard. Why do people (parent or not) like to persecute so much.
