With naps, my mom always told me because my brother would never settle down for a nap, she would have him go on his bed and tell him that he doesn’t have to go to sleep, all he has to do is just relax...and soon he would fall asleep 😅🤷🏻♀️
Thank you so much for letting us know how you and your family are doing. Yes, she still needs to nap at her age.
I’m a mom and a PreK teacher, and I have some suggestions on nap time for Riley:
1. Make it the same time everyday
2. Make a “Riley” schedule for her room where she can check off or see what’s happening and point to Nap time and say, “Riley it’s time for your nap. You can have 1 stuffed toy with you. Which one do you want today”?
3. If she protest say, after your nap time you can... insert something she enjoys doing.
4. You’re a wonderful mom, don’t give up. You’ll have a routine in no time!!😊😊
Rose Schwiebert I’m struggling with the same, thanks for the tips 👍🏻
Dream Kailey
You are so very welcome. This stage is hard, but it’s really good for both you and you child to have a set quite time routine. Believe it or not, some children still nap at 4 and 5 years of age.😊
Rose Schwiebert Oh I absolutely believe it 😆 We could all use a good nap/quiet time! I’ll be making a “schedule” as suggested for my daughter TODAY 🤣
I agree. A lot of parents say they don’t like schedules or whatnot but as an educator as well it’s important to understand children do need to have some sort of routine in their lives. Kids will strive and progress with that. Also when it’s time for preschool or TK, what do you think is going to happen in class? The whole day is scheduled to a T with some ocasional changes that are made on a day to day (i.e. assembly, minimum day schedules) but nothing major. Children love stability and knowing what’s going to come because they know what to do and what to expect.
Mayra Solis E
Exactly.
Love these videos... thanks for reminding us we are not alone in motherhood. Its so hard and can be so lonely so its nice to know there are others who are going through the same ❤❤
Ur videos help me with my anxiety with all this virus stuff going on. I love when u have new videos it's like a little escape from my daily life.
Aww, Riley saying what she's having for breakfast was so cute! It reminded me of my son.
I appreciate you giving us a 40 minute vlog!
Ana Martinez-Lopez ahh I’m so glad you like them! I’m always a little hesitant bc I know some people think they’re too long, but I can’t help it when I film a ton throughout the day lol
Our household has used our quarantine to spring clean the house. Repainted the walls, put up a new backsplash in the kitchen, cleaned the outside of our home. It’s especially been good for our 4 month old son. Because of our jobs our routine was so hard for him. Now that I’m finally a SAHM and my hubby is at home for the next two weeks our little man has been so happy! He’s on a perfect routine and I’m really starting to see his personality just shine and he’s so happy. Finding the beauty in all the scariness in the world right now.
I'm also in Virginia and all the stores around me are out of things we need. I'm pregnant and due in two months which adds another layer of stress to everything. Such a crazy time to be having a baby
Hannah Ingram in due May 9 in CO
Stay strong momma. My son was born Jan 3 and I was just thinking I can't imagine having him born now. Although he was born rite in the middle of the flu season Wich would be worse for babies. Just be very diligent with all your actions and washing your hands and keep baby away from everyone !
I’m in CA and the stores are equally the same as crazy. I’m due April 26 which is scary that it’s about a month away and I’m worried my husband won’t be able to come in with me :( and having people come see the baby afterwards. All my plans are turned upside down.
Steph Hahn same here...mine was born Jan 7 and I was just saying the exact same thing the other day.
@@maestramayra1 I'm worried about that too... and I completely understand what you mean. I knew plans could change but never expected it would be like this! Had to call off my baby shower. Best of luck to you mama!
love how real you are. you are the older sister we all wish we had!! 🤩 also, love the long videos
Had to comment before watching, just because I’m so excited about the 40 minutes! 😂
40 minutes of content?? I can pump AND feed my baby 🤩
Lol same!
I don’t know Riley’s schedule, have you tried putting her down for nap time at the same time everyday? I’ve realized being consistent with my 22 month old helps. She expects it and doesn’t protest. After lunch, I’ll tell her she can play for a few minutes and then it’s.......and she will answer....naptime! I’ll do a mini routine-change her diaper, put her in her sleep sack and sing the same song since being a newborn.
Also, taking her outdoors to play for a long while and getting some sun helps with naps. Wear her out girl!! Lol 😂
I’m so happy you do these vlogs of just you and kids at home. I was supposed to go back to work from my maternity leave this week and now my job is closed. My husband still has to work, he’s a state employee so I know the stress of disinfecting him 😉 It helps to see you doing your updates. It’s so crazy here, I’m in California so we’ve been out of food and toiletries for a long time. Luckily my husband had us go stocked up a week before all crazy broke loose so we have everything we need. Thank God. I’m glad you are staying calm, Stay hopefully and positive. We will get through this together 🙏🏼
You got this girl❤❤ definitely was excited to see a long video today!! Everyone is in a panic...an being stuck at home isnt easy. I myself an a home healthcare nurse. So im still working while trying to stay safe and healthy. Jackson and Riley are beautiful!! ❤❤
I have a two year old that will be three at the end of April. She went through phases where she would skip naps for a few days, but my advice is keep trying consistently because we always got back into naps after a few rough days or weeks. We always tell our girl she can look at books in bed if she doesn’t want to sleep, but she has to rest. It doesn’t always go over well, but it’s worth it for the days we do get a nap!
40 min vlog, yes! Riley super cute when she was naming her breakfast
I love these long vlogs, they keep me entertained while I fold the laundry 🤩 Keep going, you are amazing !
Léa Tranier yayyy!! I’m so glad!! I just finished doing laundry myself! Hope you’re doing great lady! ❤️
@@KaylaBuell I am ! As the rest of the world is, I am stuck at home with my husband (it has been almost two weeks of quarantine for us here in France) and I totally get your "rationning" vibe haha we don't really lack anything but I can't help myself to save every piece of food (or toilet paper) I can 😂
The vlogs are great, just please keep them coming. Watching the kids is pure joy, it’s amazing how much Jackson is coming on, it’s lovely to see.❤️❤️
Hats off kayla coz u r doing alot ❤ be safe stay at home.
You inspire me to make my own videos! Thanks so much to share real life! 💕
I so enjoy your vlog, my kids are long grown but I had to tell you, that I happened to stop this with Reilly and her brother looking at each other and had to tell you how adorable they are.
Thank you for this 40 minute vlog. Your videos have been helping me so much with my anxiety during this pandemic. I'm a SAHM with two kids, a 3 yr old & a newborn, and my husband's job falls under 'essential,' so your vlogs have been giving me a sense normalcy, if that makes any sense. Thank you 😊
Yes please keep doing this kind vlogs! I spend 40min watching your vlog and I didn’t notice how long this vlog was 🤣
Egt G omg I’m so glad you liked it lol sometimes I think they’re too long but I just film so much throughout the day 🙈
Kayla Buell girl just keep doing, my routine is the same, I learn a lot with you because some times we need try different things to do with our kids. Blessings for your beautiful family 🤗 Regards from Orlando FL 🌞
I just love watching your videos! Weirdly it feels like I’m watching myself because we’re literally going through the same stage of life with our two kiddos. Love seeing how you’re handling it all, survival mode 🤣 Blessings to you all, let’s hope this craziness blows away quickly, and thank you for the great distraction. I honestly feel if we ever me we’d be such good friends 😆
Yes!! Same here momma. I have a 2 yr old girl and a 3 month old boy. I love seeng her vlogs bc my stage of life is the same.
Aarika Gaskill We’re all in this together 😂 #momlife
It is a crazy time Kayla! You're not the only one going through transitions and having this virus happen. I'm due with my first baby at the end of April and I'm so sad that I'll have to be way more careful with my newborn than I originally planned. I also haven't been able to be with my church family, which is a big deal for me. Stay strong momma!
I think I can watch your channel all day. Keep posting and I pray God continues to bless you and your family.
Thank you for taking the time to edit and post, even though you’re a mama of two! Your house looks beautiful. :) I’m due at the end of June and just praying everything will be more calm by then!
Yes my son is 21 months and I swear every little thing makes him cry/whine 🙄🙄🙄 and year I think the best thing to do is just ignore them. Lol such a struggle. !
I really liked this video as kind of a background, almost podcast. I don’t have kids yet, but this helps me know what to expect when my husband and I decide to start trying. Thanks!
I am watching some of your older vlogs some of the time; I would say that even tho at times it is hard to be home with your kids all day- u r very lucky to be able to do so. My daughter works full time and would see the kids about 2-3 hours/day, depending on their age... the are now 2 and 4...she has been home working since middle of March, and has created an office for her work, but still needs to put in 8 hrs/day. She is just grateful that she can come out at times and make their meals, there is no travel to and from work, no getting up super early to get all dressed up. His kids don't pine for her any more, as she also pined for them. This year has affected all of us in various ways and I just try each day to look for the small joys. Even now in Aug. you have a bit more free time with your son doing so well with sleeping. These first 5 or so years of their life flies by and you will have tons of memories of your time spent with them. : )
14:15 Pleassseeee! Pleaseeee mama! Lol she’s such a sweet girl! You’re blessed.
My baby girl is same age and a December baby like Jackson 😍. She totally likes these vlogs cause each time we see one she keeps staring at the screen. Thanks for sharing your time and keeping us watching :)
Hi Kayla, when my boys were babies and they wouldn’t stay asleep in the crib or the carrier; I tried the stroller and it worked!! Obviously I wouldn’t leave them unattended but at least you can get a break with your back. Try putting one of your worn shirts near him so he can still smell you that’s has worked for us too! You should use going outside as a reward for good behavior. It seems she loves the outside.
As a daycarecenter teacher of 12 two year olds I can tell you you're handling her tantrums like a champ! When one of our kids had a tantrum we just ignore and when it gets to bad we place them at the table until the kiddo is calm again. When they are that age they have these strong emotions but they don't know how to handle them yet. When they're chill again we go and sit with them and tell them it is not nice and we (the teachers) don't like it when they scream so much so they know it is not oké...
Most kids will drop their nap at 2.5/3 by the way. Have no tips on that department so good luck!
You're doing good! Stay happy, sane and healthy over there! Much love from the Netherlands!
Such a crazy time.
My husband and I both can’t work. And aren’t getting paid. And we have our first baby boy due in a three weeks.
And We won’t be able to have any family visit us at the hospital
Praying for you Lexi! Don’t let these hard times steal your joy! I just had my first baby! It’s the most amazing thing ever ! Praying for you, pray and trust the Lord!
Hi, I know how you feeling bcoz I am in same situation. We have our 2nd baby boy due in 4 weeks..... can't find any dipper and wipes. Even we aren't getting paid too...😭😭😭😭
I’m so sorry to hear that. I can only imagine your stress.
I’m due in two weeks and two days... 🤦🏾♀️ I’m hoping everything goes smoothly. Wishing you a safe delivery and healthy baby. Hope everything gets better for your family soon!
Denise Martinez
yeah
Love the 40 minute vlog! Also, every store has all of the pickup spots full at this time around me, so one of us has to go to the store now if we need anything. I definitely make sure the baby stays home and we wash ASAP when getting in the door. I tried to just buy like two weeks worth of food last time I went so I didn’t have to go back out for a while. Milk, eggs, bread, Lysol wipes, meat, TP, etc are all scarce here in Ohio too. 😩
Hey Kayla, hope you’re staying safe. I really feel for your sister. I have had to postpone my wedding until next year as I was meant to be getting married June 24th 2020. Absolutely gutted. Hope your sister can still get married this year xxx
Same with my sister. She postponed her wedding but she was supposed to get married tomorrow
Appreciate your vlogs and thank you for entertaining me while I’m in lockdown with my two kids. I have a 3 month old like yourself and an active 6 year old so it’s been rough. It’s getting scary over here in Australia as well 😫
Deep spring cleaning/declutter on our hobby farm 😁 feels so good!
You got this! You are a mom rockstar.
"Can I have a mushroom pizza?"
"No."
Savage 😂
😂😜
40 min vlog yassss im here for it !! ❤❤❤❤❤
Snoo automatically increases the rocking. He’ll get used to it. My baby girl was the same. One tip is instead of swaddling him in the velcro swaddle, use the snoo swaddle even if he’s sleeping in your lap or bed, once he sleeps then gently attach him to snoo, start on low setting like 1 and gradually increase to 2. I mostly used 2 and once she woke up I increased to 3 and it used to put her back to sleep
Kay u are so patient and loving to your babies. U are an awesome mom , never forget that. Keep us updated on how things are going. I live in Houston Texas and we were told 2 days ago we needed to stay home also. My husbands job is considered essential but i am at home with my almost 3 month old. Stay safe and hope to keep seeing your videos.
Thank you as always for being so real in your so videos! God bless!
You did good! Hope you and your family are safe and healthy! Lol your son is so curious 😩😂so adorable
Jus adore u guys this is guna be me soon wit my 3 girls so Excited 😆... girl u are sooo beautiful 👏🏾
Love your videos! Also, your daughter reminds me so much of mine. Between the picky eating to the whining!! Lol ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I am spending my social distancing time trying to not worry about the fact that I’m due with baby 2 in two weeks 🙃. My husband is now home for the next few weeks and we just moved to the Midwest, away from all family. So we spend our days cleaning and organizing and entertaining our little almost-2 yr old. She loves going outside too!
I don’t know if it will work for you but when it’s nap time I don’t mention it. I will pay attention to the time and take my little one to their room and just cuddle them to sleep or just lay in the same bed with them until they fall asleep. It works for all 3 of my kids at the age of 2. It’s hard mama but your doing a great job juggling with 2 under 2.
I’m right there with you mama! I have a 1.5 year old and 3 month old it’s not easy and I can’t wait till bedtime sometimes. You’re doing great! Not sure if it gets easier over time or if you just get a little routine and used to it.
You're stressing me out Girl! loll We're going to be fine. Breathe & relax! Love your vlogs, love you, you can't & wont get sick bc I need you around. It's almost like you've become as part of my family! I did it home alone with two toddlers and a newborn, You can do this!!!
Hey Kayla, I'm a mumma to be and would just like to say you do an amazing job with your kiddies and I love your videos. It's no nice to see you share all the good and not so good parts of mummy hood. ❤️❤️
Love these vlogs, keep them coming. Keeping me sane all the way in the UK Scotland 👌
I love watching your videos, you and your kids are the cutest! No kids yet here, but hopefully soon! 🤞🏽☺️
Wow Jackson is really strong and holding his head up really good++
I’m due July with my little girl and I’m so nervous! She’s my rainbow baby so I really wanted everything to go smooth and I hope it does bc I’ve been waiting for her since I miscarried last July:( I also have anxiety about buying the basics for my 4 yr old! He loves milk and basically everything he eats involves bread and it’s so hard to find:( prayers for you and your family! I also hope your anxiety calms down I can only imagine how you feel moving so far from home and all this craziness happening in the world.
Kayla your home is beautiful ❤️. I love your dinning room, if you don’t mind me asking where is your dining room table from? & your mirrors that are up on the wall? I LOVE THEM❤️
Hi Kayla I started watching your blogs recently and really enjoy them it’s refreshing to see a mom that’s so down to earth about having kids! I was just wondering it seems Riley sleeps until about 8ish when does she usually go to bed? I have an almost two year old who’s an early riser usually falls asleep around 730 and wakes up at 630 maybe 7 if we are lucky and would love for him to sleep in just a bit longer :)
So cute the baby girl😍😍
I love watching your videos! Stay safe and God bless your beautiful family
Can you do a night time routine vlog and can you show us maybe some dinner plan ideas to make during this quarantine? 🍴💜
Hi Kayla, I love watching you're videos. I have a baby girl named Sophie who is 4 days older than Jackson, I have had a lot of success using the Zen one sleep sack by nested bean. Sophie likes her arms being up and not pinned down so the Zen one works really well she sleeps all night. Trust me I struggled alot at night before I got it. Good luck stay safe🙂
Omgoodness Riley’s table please 🥰
I got laid off the last week of my maternity leave with my son, so I get to spend more time with him and my toddler which is good. But of course I wish we could go out and do things lol.
But my husband and I got so much organization done and lots of photos printed and hung up. Transitioned my 20 month old to a toddler bed. She had sleep regression and shockingly a new bed made her sleep great.
My children are 18 months apart, so I get the struggle. But my daughter adores her brother. My brother and I are 15 months apart and grew up super close.
It is okay to do that all alone you can do it dont try to make yourself sad or try to overthink it
I've learned to not give in to a crying toddler and stand my ground. If nothing then it's time out time. Good luck with your toddler.
Been there and done that. Have 4yrs and 2yrd old now. Dont even remember how we did it back then. But have a hope, they will grow and it will be better
I’m not sure when my son dropped his naps, but it was definitely not until like 5 years old or so because yeah...they still get tired and cranky. Like someone said below, a consistent bedtime is pretty key even if she protests. I know it’s hard to say no to that adorable face and little voice, but to be blunt, YOU gotta run the show mama in her mind mama. For my son it was never a negotiation or “asking” him if he wanted to nap because the answer will always be “no”! lol. Just from my experience it worked for me to simply from day one set the tone that nap time was going to happen whether he liked it or not. After awhile he just got used to it and it never was really a battle once he understood there was no choice! Lol.
Seriously stressing out, because I’m 38 weeks pregnant today and my husband can no longer come to my appointments with me. So I’m so nervous he won’t be able to be at the hospital, and I have no support system here, my family lives far away. So I’m stressing out stocking our food, and keeping my baby safe. Just glad we had stocked up on diapers and wipes before this even happened.
Reading books and organising my desk
It is scary, I try not to think about it either. I'm due April 24th and it's my first child. We are also supposed to be moving in 3 months back to the states from Germany but I'm just hoping and praying the borders aren't still shut down by then.
I wish I lived near you. I would come help you finish unpacking and organizing your home. Every room. I love doing that. Riley is beautiful. And Jackson is handsome.
my two year does the same. Constant whining and crying over everything 😫
Ty Harman omg it’s like a constant headache over here lol 🙉
Kayla Buell yes!!
Here too 🙋🏼♀️
@@KaylaBuell Hello Kayla! we been following your videos for a while and we would love to work with you.we sent you an email .please check it out! we looking forward your reply :)
Love watching your videos! Jackson is a week older than my baby and he has his hands in his mouth alllll the time too. And I just realized we have so much of the same clothes for them ha
I have a baby about the same age as Jackson. She also has issues sleeping. Do you have a traditional style baby swing? That has saved us! Also, the love to dream swaddle with arms up has been a life saver
I know you usually post where you get your children's clothing from. But I was wondering since its not posted in the description. Can you please share where did you get Jackson's sleeper/onesie from? That he's wearing in this vlog. 😊
I just had my first baby and I wish we could be friends haha. I need some mom friends so I watch your videos and it’s like I’m chillin with you
How do you do Jackson's tummy time and how much time do you have him do it? My little one doesn't like to lift her head unless she is using a wedge pillow and I am out of ideas on how to get her to do it while flat on the floor. Any tips?
Our local instacart orders, you have to schedule a week out. It’d suggest you or hubby goes to the grocery store, early soon after grocery store opens.
We all are worried but tons of prayer keeps us sane
I wish I would have found you back in 2020! I was home with my kids who are around the same age as yours plus my oldest who was 6 at the time lol
Haha! Riley washing her hands with the 'syrup' pump omg that was so adorable and funny :)
No angry!! then that growl. LOL
I've been so anxious my baby will be here in 10 weeks. I won't be able to have my baby shower I can't even buy a crib for my baby rn. The scariest thing is not knowing how bad this is going to get especially because we need to go to the hospital in the middle of a pandemic to have a baby. I miss my mom too i haven't seen her in a few weeks. I just hope all of this gets better by the time our little guy comes home.
Girl. I feel the stress. FTM, and I have to go back to work at the hospital in a few weeks. My son will be about 3 months old, and I’m so scared of bringing something home 🥺
I love the long vlog!
My baby is 4 days older than Jackson and I think she’s teething too. I think I can see them under her gums but when I show my husband he says he doesn’t. 🤷🏻♀️🙄 Shes constantly sucking her hands too & drooling like crazy. I’m going to order more bibs because I go thru so many 😅
Such a good mommy saving food for the winter
You did good. Can be really proud of yourself
Ah I'm in Australia and get my 4 month old down at 930/10ish (I know Whyyyyy won't she go to bed earlier) and I am in bed by 1130 for your upload to have some chill time and thank you for a long vlog! I was feeling anxious and stir crazy today being alone all day with the teething 4 month who also had her vaccinations yesterday, she is not a happy camper. I'm trying not to watch the news much either but also stay informed. It is really getting a bit scary over here too. Praying for your family to stay healthy safe and happy
Edit: omg I sort my clothes the same way. Maria kondo inspired me haha soooo much easier. and my little Willow sleeps the same way with for naps.. I'm slowly sneaking the pillow away gradually haha
haha i'm sure the whinning and crying is done so that it will get to you haha she knows :D
I have been thinking about the Snoo for a while. My little one is 2 months and I crave sleep 😳
I'm in eastern PA. We have about 2000 cases here now. My county alone has a low amount of 13 cases but obviously there's more.. it's super scary. Can't get water anywhere. And stores limit the things you buy. Counties around me have stay at home orders. This is all nerve-wracking. We all just have to be smart with what we do esp when leaving the house. Your being smart with telling him to change when he gets home. Also make sure you sanitize everything you buy from the store and from packages. Remember those items have been touched by many. And don't eat out cuz sick people could be handling your food!
For water, we have a Brita filter we use in the fridge that we fill up with tap water. We’ve always had one and has saved lots of $$ on buying bottled water for years now. Maybe order one online in the meantime ? My entire state is in stay in place orders (CA) but know that we’re all facing similar situations. All of our stores are closed only things open are grocery stores and restaurants that offer to go or drive through orders. All entertainment and parks and beaches are shut down but going for walks around the block are what keep me sane. Try to limit news kind of like what Kayla mentioned in her video for just the new updates and try not to get too wrapped up in listening to the same stuff all day. We’ll get through this as a community and country. Sending you peaceful thoughts!
Such a stressful time...my husband is deploying and I plan on driving home because I am pregnant. I hope everything isnt as crazy in September because I couldn’t imagine giving birth all by myself 😭 I’m a first time mom and even all the birthing and breast feeding classes are canceled 😭 everything is all unanswered questions and I just have to take it as it comes, but watching your videos definitely help take my mind off of things for the moment. I appreciate you😭❤️
Megan Wheaton I’m due in one month and all of my birth plans have been thrown out the window. :/ I’m stressed and worried they won’t let me have at least one support person. Hang in there!
Mayra Solis E I couldn’t imagine giving birth right now! I’m stressed already and I couldn’t imagine how stressed you are! Good luck mamma you got this❤️
Your videos make me smile thank you hugs and kisses from ireland
I can't agree more with not being able to handle the whining. My husband is considered an essential employee and doesn't have the option to work at home. My daughter will be 2 in May and I have an almost 1 month old son. Its tough with two under two and trying to be patient.
dmsan6 Couldn’t agree more! It’s tough handling both and the whining doesn’t help. My 2 year old has been really sassy and whiny lately and being stuck indoors makes it that much more stressful. 😣
How much I understand you. We live in the Netherlands while my mom loves in Moscow, Russia. Not getting help and her not seeing her grandson is super rough
I am so worried about the meltdown stage. Ameythst is 2 months. full of attitude. I will defintely take your advice of walking away when she hits that age and stage. cause i know i will not have the patience. lol
No such thing as a meltdown stage. A 2 month old doesn’t have attitude! Infants have basic needs that need to be met, and crying is their only way of communicating. My kids never had one. Have a consistent routine (the key word is consistent), keep your kids busy, and use rewards and consequences for behavior, and they will be fine. You are in charge, not them.
I think you’re doing a great job. 😘
your a beautiful young mom
