We made sweet potato fries in the oven this weekend and my 14 month old daughter loved them. Just cut the sweet potato, put it on an oven tray and sprinkle it with olive oil. Keep in the oven for 30 minutes at 180 degrees (Celsius that is) and they are ready. I think my daughter ate more than we did while she is also quite a picky eater. Today we tried the same with carrots and she also loved that!
Some things that worked for me when getting my little ones to eat: -eat the same thing and together at the table, they will want to imitate you. -limit screen time while eating cause it makes them eat only what they really like since they aren’t focused enough -try telling them what is that they are eating, they will more likely want to try something new if they know what you gave them. This last one varies depending on the kid, with only one of mine worked. Maybe they are having too many delicious snacks, so when it comes to lunch or dinner they don’t eat something that is not as good or they won’t try new foods since they know you will give them a delicious snack afterwards. Hope this is helpful, you are doing great mama!
I think she took a course when baby j was starting eating solids she learned and tried at firt with j only. I feel she is putting herself to too much work when she can make one meal for the whole family and eat together.
I know that it can all be super overwhelming, specially seeing how much you do!, but seeing Jackson’s face when you gave him the cheese and crackers melted my heart. That feeling of “wow they depend on me and they are so grateful” makes it so so worth it to be their mommy. Your doing amazing!
I know it’s not easy! But I think maybe you should try giving Riley and Jackson the same food at the same time. She might be more into the food if she sees her little brother eating the same thing. Also, it would save you SOOO much time! 😘 cheers from Canada
I agree for my toddler breakfast and dinner she eats what we eat as a family and I find she’s more inclined to eat something if we are all eating the same thing.
@@jennyrodriguez4882 this is the only way my toddler will eat veggies, we take bites together! She went on a no veggies phase for a bit but now she eats some with us.
@@jennyrodriguez4882 same with my little girl! I took the advice of SolidStarts and tried offering bigger pieces. Like larger broccoli florets! Now she loves eating the little trees 🥦
Love the inspiration! Bottom line you are putting in effort, feeding your babes, they are eating, the details aren’t worth a ton of stress or dissecting! All kids go through this! My bro was the pickiest eater and my mom made separate meals for him….guess what, he became such an explorative eater and successful person! Lol it wasn’t the end of the world! You are awesome, love the vlog! I’m a nanny and have a 10 month old so I’m always feeding kids!!!🤗
Hi.You are such a good mummy.Try to give Jackson milk separetely ,and then he will eat more breakfast,it did work with my daughter 😊I love the french toast idea ❤️
Just wanted to let u know that dairy reduces the absorption of iron and to just keep that in mind when serving more dairy options. It’s actually better to serve a fruit high in Vit C to aid with absorption and also a food option that has iron cause it’s actually really important for Children’s growth. Just putting it here in case u didn’t know. 😊
Hey Kayla I don't know if you'll see this but I just want to thank you for helping me raise my little girl I've watched your videos since she came home from the hospital and she's almost 1 now. I've learned so much from you I really appreciate you. God bless.
I literally feel for you . Both my kids are picky eaters. There’s been a number of occasions where they go to bed hungry if they don’t eat dinner cause I’m not making 10 different things. So good on you mama
I LOVE this video for many reasons! I have been struggling with my picky eater since she started eating solid foods, she’s now 16 months. I sometimes feel so guilty feeding her the same things every day, but then I remember that the important thing is that she is eating! Also, I love that they are watching tv in the morning and during feedings! I have felt so guilty allowing my daughter to watch tv, but I’m a single mom and it helps. And, she loves it! Thank you for all the awesome food ideas to try, I’ve run out of ideas at this point lol. You are such an inspiration and such an amazing mom! ✨
My husband has the best cutie hack!! Cut it horizontally (like a grapefruit when you eat it with a spoon) and then push on the outside of the peel where the circle ends are. Bam! Peel and serve.
Hey Kayla! You're doing a good job! My son is also a picky eater. Have you tried giving him the quesadilla alone first and only the fruit at the end of the meal instead of the beginning?
Kayla it won’t be easy to reverse your children’s pickiness but it’s still doable if you act now. Sit down to eat at the table all together at least once per day and all 4 of you eat pretty much the same meal (add less salt for the babes). Basically children are very smart and quickly learn that if they refuse the first, less yummy option then a second, yummier option or SNACK is offered of course they’re going to do that. So you have to let them realise that a second option is not going to be offered, perhaps that will mean them spending a morning or afternoon hungry then so be it and they will learn. For food that they continuously refuse for more than 3 meals, offer alternatives and wide variety of healthy food with different textures. Crackers are actually extremely unhealthy, filled with sodium for tiny kidneys.
Jackson cracks me up! Love watching him dig into his food and liking it but not. Riley all happy when you said this is my picky daughter 😂. I swear why can’t kids just eat what we give, if only it was that easy! But love these kinds of videos, I always get ideas from you! Thank you ♥️♥️

I think one of the reasons Jackson might not finish the toast is because he's so full from milk and a whole banana! That's a lot of food for their tiny tummies first thing in the morning.
@@sherryedwards5352I agree milk has benefits. But maybe if she tries giving it another time (not during meals) it might help. I'm sure she's a great mom that wasn't in question at all. If we have a smoothie and an entire banana it would curb our appetite too, now imagine a tiny baby's stomach.
@@keshiamontgomery1069 yes my 18M old is an eating machine. But I try to make sure she's definitely hungry when meal time comes. Or else what we might consider "picky eater" might really be "ummm I'm not that hungry mom" 😊
For this year you really need to prepare Riley for school lunches and what they will serve if your school system doesn’t allow you to pack lunches. In some places you can’t pack anything with peanuts. Since your sister is a teacher try out her school system lunch schedule sometimes otherwise she might go the whole day without eating. I seen picky eaters do that and come home starving because they refuse to eat school food. Just saying
Sunbutter “‘Sunflower seed butter” is a great replacement for peanut butter. It tastes very similar to peanut butter. A lot of schools use it. However, I don’t think Kayla is planning to send Riley to school until the following year. So the good news is she has time.
A tip for the cuties/clementines. Cut the whole thing horizonal with the peel still on. Then flip out each half and all the half slices pop out. One cut, no peeling, perfect size for baby/ toddler :)
Thank you for this video. I love how you are such an awesome mom and so patient with your kids. I need to learn to be more patient with mine. My kids does the same thing how when i make some healthy and delicious food and they won't even touch it. Now i know I'm not the only one going through this. Anyway you doing a great job!.
Hi Kayla, I love your content! Perhaps you could try to give the both of them the same thing for lunch and dinner, it may help Riley eat more food. My partner and I are struggling with his son (he eats nothing but bread) and eating together helps a lot. It would save you lots pf time too! Plus the more we stress out as parents, the more the kids feel it and they think that eating and food is a big deal. Parents decide what’s on the table, kids decide how much they wanna eat. ❤️❤️

Mine loves quesadillas but it’s so funny to see Jackson what he did when you tried feeding what he doesn’t like Hahah... same thing my boy does for most of his food lol there are only specifics foods he’ll try and like. Just an idea you could try Jackson with air fried carrots. Cut them into chip shapes also try sweet potatoe fries, pears and apples cut into chip type shapes also. Just an idea
Advice from my grandfather .... don't stress, children will eat what their body craves. Build that connection and eat as a family. Don't be afraid to say NO to more bad foods, you're not starving them.
My daughter use to be the best eater! Now she only will eat fruit and hot dogs 😩. And snacks of course. I’ve cut back on how many snacks i give, which seems to help her eat more at meals! I want to try a smoothie with her and those muffins!
Jackson looks so plump now! I was following you when you were trying to get his weight up because my 17 month old was the same way and Jackson took off! Good job mom, hopefully my son will catch up by 2...we’re doing testing at 18 months next month to see if his body just isn’t absorbing nutrients properly. He’s only 20lbs
My toddler is super pick and set in her ways as well! It’s so frustrating! I have 3 older kiddos (14,12&7) and they all will eat what I make but little miss is a whole other story! We are basically limited to chicken nuggets, pb&j sandwiches, Mac n cheese and pizza. She will eat most fruits and some veggies, and eggs on occasion, but when we have dinner she will flat out refuse all meats & potatoes! I know it’s just the age but gosh it’s so frustrating! And she sees us eat, we eat together at the table for lunch and dinner.
Do you give the kids juice? And if not for what reason? Sometimes mine will drink like 2 apple juice pouches a day. Shes a really good eater but always thirsty.
Omg my daughter every time I make something new, does what Jackson did with the French toast 😆 With the cuties (mandarins right?) I cut the whole thing in half it's quicker that way 😊
What about spaghetti, noodles, 3 square meals. Monitor their metabolism. Some children struggle with weight issues during the preschool years. So be careful with sugars and starches of the time. Good oral heath is a factor to also consider.
Omygoodness!! Jackson reminds of my little dude!!! So stinking cute! 💕 Except my little guy is about to turn one next month. And we Love smoothies! Thank you Kayla. 💖
Wohhh is it a "toss plate" next to Jackson's food ? Would love to hear more about it and how you introduced it etc. I am dealing with intense food throwing with my 15mo and I've seen this hack but have no idea how to have it so my babe uses it lol
Omg your kids is like mine. My LO is 3 and still won't try bread or crackers. She is ok with pasta, noodles and rice. Im going to try french toast idea.
I see you mama! The pain is real! I personally skip snacks between breakfast and lunch and if I do I offer 4 cherry tomatoes 😂 he devours them. Then eats all his lunch.
I totally feel the same way! I always have mom guilt whenever my kid doesn’t eat whatever I cook (he’s 21m) I always try to get him to eat what we eat but he never touches it, then I’ll make him something he likes so that way he can eat something. But I always feel like I’m doing something wrong and I get upset at myself.
Just a heads up on the zucchini fries and the broccoli tater tot‘s… They are actually really really greasy. My kids will not eat them and they are two years old and four years old but I don’t mind them so I eat them
Have you ever tried giving Riley what you or Jackson are eating in small amounts with her food, this is what we do. The feeding therapist we see for our almost three year sometimes has us get a small separate plate and put a pea size amount of something new of what we are eating beside his regular plate. That way there is exposure without the pressure. Explain what it is but don’t make a big deal. If she ties it great if not it’s okay. Encourage her to touch the food, poke it, scoop it, smell it or even “ kiss it” which eventually leads to a bite. You can even give a reward for any of these actions. You can even make it an activity. Like every time she does something like touch it somehow she can add a puzzle piece or block to a tower. At the end give a prize like stickers or a small treat.
That's a good idea for the yogurt, my daughter doesn't like that same yogurt. I'm going to try it. Where do you get your chia seeds from? Your an awesome Mama.
Jackson screeching evertime you put food near him- loooool it's soul-destroying for sure. Just keep trying different things and eventually....one day they will accept it. Someone commented on here about it being too much food- milk and a whole banana and I agree. I found the same thing happened with me so he eats first then he has his liquid, or if he gets thirsty during his meal he can have a little bit at a time. But that's definitely quite a lot of milk in one go.
Lmao my toddler is watching the end with me and when she sees Jackson crying about the French fries she asked what’s wrong and I told her he doesn’t like the French fries so she’s like make it hot lol. When we eat dinner sometimes she stops eating and Says she wants to make it hot. She doesn’t like when her food gets cold.
Just out of curiosity how come you guys allow them to have two different meals? Why don't you just force them to eat the same one? Also got a curiosity how come breakfast the girl got less than the boy when she's older again I'm just curious
I'm not gonna lie, when I look after my baby cousin who is around Jacksons age, I find it so hard as he is such a freaking picky eater. I never even considered giving him a smoothie though so we have him tomorrow morning (should probably get some sleep) and I always have things for smoothies on hand. Always lol because I love them so much. Hopefully, fingers crossed he likes it as it is so difficult to get him to eat anything nutritious. I might switch the milk out for half milk and half water just because he generally likes a yoghurt and he has milk in the morning so I don't want to overdo it with the milk as it can be really fatty as for toddlers you are always advised by doctors here in Scotland to use whole milk for the calcium content. So yeah, maybe half milk half water or maybe fully water, not sure.
I don't understand how you don’t get crazy doing all different foods for everyone 😱 respect mama! Love ya 💜

What type of Tupperware do you like using?
Omg your kids is like mine. My LO is 3 and still won't try bread or crackers. She is ok with pasta, noodles and rice.
Im going to try french toast idea.
I'm so glad i found this video! Totally on the same boat!!
hey my friend just saying hi i’m new to your channel and i love you already and your kids are the cutest
So helpful! and your kids are adorable gold bless you all 🙏🏽💚
Lol so cute reminds me of my son when u have to cut food up certain ways for him to eat it
Just a heads up on the zucchini fries and the broccoli tater tot‘s… They are actually really really greasy.
Is that little pan for scraps he doesn’t eat?
You got baby cup very convenient for kids to drink smooth drink
I liked this before it started. I need ideas!
Just out of curiosity how come you guys allow them to have two different meals? Why don't you just force them to eat the same one? Also got a curiosity how come breakfast the girl got less than the boy when she's older again I'm just curious
For the smoothies to be sweeter add like 1/3 of a banana and any other fruit you want, you won’t need any other sweetener I swear!
Trying to type this without being a complete weirdo🤣 but your voice is so relaxing to listen to lmbooo
Love these vlogs!!!! Thanks for sharing!
Your plates are so cute! I stopped using them because my guy just throws them on the floor and the food goes to waste!
Hello, where can I get those plates for toddlers? Thank you so much
I’m sorry but I laughed so hard every time Jackson pulls a face at things he doesn’t want! It’s just tooooo funny🤣🤣🤣🤣
