    Emily, just as a reminder, I am a fellow brain injury victim. On Oct 1 of 2022 I suffered what doctors are referring to as a traumatic brain injury as the result of my 10th concussion. Because much like you I tend to push myself way to hard, my TBI caused the entire right side of my body to shut down. Now almost a year later, I'm back to around 85% function. My point is, DON'T BE LIKE ME!!! Relax, trust the process, nature, God, and your doctors. Good luck on your recovery and for God's sake be careful! 😁👍

    Hi Emily, my husband had a very very TBI a year ago in June. He is still recovering. He was a almost a year off work, he even lost the ability to speak properly for a while. He is mostly better now but still seeing specialists. It was my husband’s 3 rd severe brain injury and 8th concussion. My husband spent months and months at stage 1. It took almost half a year before he could even grocery shop because he couldn’t even remember what to get. A year later he still has a bit of stuttering at times .
    My husband mode of injury was a bicycle accident . He hit a pothole and his bike flipped backwards and the back of his head hit a curb. I thank God he was wearing a helmet . His helmet actually broke. The emergency doctor said it was the only reason he was alive .
    Please care for yourself properly . Hugs. Take heart my husband is back to full work now and even starting a Masters.

    Setbacks and challenges in life are the instruments that make or break us, mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
    It’s interesting to see your resolve to get better. It’s been quite a struggle for you. You’re a fighter.
    In time you will be back to where you want to be.

    • @Staroy
      @Staroy Год назад +1

      @@CONEHEADDK what do you mean by the forbidden actions?

    • @CONEHEADDK
      @CONEHEADDK Год назад

      @@Staroy I've copied my to cmnts from the same time, that nobody has interacted with at all (often my cmnts become invisable on YT) and I'm pretty sure, they explain it. But short - if you are used to do something, and they are "forbidden" by the doctor, you have put something else in place of it. Like a cat scratching the couch - you have find something it can scratch instead.. Looks as if you also ran into some good doctors, from how your nose looks. I gor mine kicked flat with a wooden boot "a few" years ago, so it kept on bleeding when I slept for about 3 months. A guy I knew, had his punched into pulp not long before, and he told about the pain, of getting it straightened with steel rods 3 days after, so I used my littles fingers a few minutes after the kick - THAT hurt.. The kick didn't really, but I do remember the thud and the shiney red flash.. Today my nose looks almost as straight and symetric as yours (I was lucky with that, cause I wasn't going to let them do the steel rod thing to me :D ) but the left side doesn't let the air through as it should.. Could have been worse - 1-2 inches lower, and it had been my teeth.. Do you feel any change to your breathing, or pain? A guy I knew back then had also been punched, and he ended up with some nerve damage, so when he touched his a certain place no matter how lightly, he could feel a bit of pain, and thought of me.. Our city was a tough place back them.. :D DON'T push your self - just DON'T.. As someone who was young, before rest after concussions was a thing, and healing in general not really was either, I am paying for lots of doing the wrong things.. It ISN'T worth it..!!! I expect you have done your home work from school, even though it was boring - this is "the same".. Sacrificing the current pleasure for a better future.. Find something else to fill your mind with - even stoopid romantik movies (there are lots on YT) or any other videos about things, that you are interested in.. Focus on the "excuse" to let go of your normal routines, and just pick and choose the desire of the moment with out felling guilt over "wasting" time.. Taking care of someone's health ISN'T waste - even if that someone is you.. AS "my guru" Jordan Peterson says: "Treat your selv as someone, that you love." You would (I'm guessing) push anybody else, as much as you want to push your self - just DON'T do it.. Best wishes ;)

    Great video Emily. Before retirement i worked with thousands of concussion injuries helping people recover and with neurologists , therapists and family members. A very hard injury to recover from for everyone. I really hope your medical team is able to share this video with other patients (to listen with their eyes closed) as its such an isolating injury and hearing any success story goes a long way in emotional support for them. cheers

    Recovering from any injury can be a challenge, from a head injury even more so. From what I get from your video you were trying to get well to fast, which for a really active person--you--is understandable, if counter productive. I hope and pray Emily that no that you have started to see improvement, that the rate of recovery will increase. As to providing updates, for me I accept what you can share with us, at the frequency you are able to give without delaying your recovery. As a follower of your channel I am along for the long haul, not just a one or two video wonder. Why can I feel this way, because you have more of a life than entertaining us on YT, and you have to give a fair share of your time to all of your different endeavors. Emily, in 1966 when I was 12 a suffered a basal 5 skull fracture I am now 70. Depending on the type of SF your recovery will be different. Take it slow, take it easy, I understand your problems. I have no equilibrium, so walking is sometimes difficult. I lost the use of one eye and hearing in one ear. I live with a constant headache, medication has made my life better. Do what your Dr.s tell you to do. You can and will recover. Danny

    I feel for you. This is very similar to how it was for me after my head injury, except that the cause was different and I had children I had to look after. It took a very long time to work out how to pace myself with what I needed to do against what I didn't need to do immediately, whilst also balancing what I was physically able to do and what I needed help with. The downside was that getting frustrated and angry just made things worse. I am so glad that you're recovering well. I hope you'll be fully recovered and back to your old activity level very soon.

    I understand. I had a traumatic brain injury when I was eighteen. I had to learn how to crawl all over. I remember being on the floor with tears running down my cheeks because I couldn't comprehend the idea of opposite arm and leg. I was basically spread out on the floor with both arms out in front with my legs behind me. Getting both arms back to where they needed to be was challenging. I eventually was able to, and she showed me which arm to move forward, followed by the leg. As frustrating as it was, I recovered and do everything I did prior to my accident.
    Give yourself time and grace. You deserve to be well and have your old life back. It sounds as though you are healing, but it takes time.
    Fast forward, I recently turned sixty-five, and the knowledge and programs they had in place back in 1976 are totally different than they are in 2023.
    I wish you a speedy and full recovery. And for you to have the best life that you possibly can.

I am very sad to say I sent her back to school in two weeks because the new quarter was starting. She struggled for the next four years where she had no struggles all the previous years.She took years to recover. I am not sure she is the same person at all. If I had it to do over I would have pulled her from school for the last half. Just because you no longer have any visible injuries does not mean you are well. And it is THE most sensitive organ in the body. I am happy to see that light in your eyes coming back! You are doing well. Your brain will heal in it's time!! Give it the required time and kinda cater to it. I believe you are doing that already. Thank you for the update. A situation such as yours IS a delicate one at best. Some years back I was having problems with a physical recovery. I was not happy with my progress and my therapist saw that so she challenged me ( HARD) She reminded me that when she started with me they used a crane to get me from the bed to a chair, to a toilet and that I had just walked several hundred feet without a walker!! Then she told me to quit whining and go get an ice cream. (she was right, love her bedside manner) She was exactly what I needed just then. Prayers to you for further and complete recovery Emily!! Amazing to see the change in your progress and your demeanor - from the tearful segment to the 'back at the gym' segment. The whiplash is crazy stubborn, that's amazing. Glad you are feeling better. Hopefully the pace of recovery picks up a bit now that your body/brain seems to be bouncing back. Good luck!

    I'm very glad that you have been able to recover so quickly dear girl. I understand your struggles, as I fell 26' at work and sustained a significant closed head injury that took me 10yrs to overcome. I had to relearn how to do everything, and still have trouble coming up with the right words sometimes, but it definitely could have been so much worse. While I recovered, I was able to get my GED, continue my studies, and become a Certified Surgical Technologist. I thank the Almighty LORD GOD above for my life and for helping you to get better. Have a beautiful blessed day Em, in our Savior JESUS CHRIST'S perfect name 🙏🏼🌿

      American diet and overall food gives a hard time to recover from neurological injuries. It's crucial to have organic food good fats good fruits and vegetables. I've had a insanely severe neuro lyme case and got back to normal, ofc it was thanks to Jesus Christ, but also I am blessed to live in central Europe where the food is great and herbal medicine is practiced for generations.

      @@RK1FX Yes, I agree. The American diet is FULL of poisons, chemicals, and abominations. This is why I've been watching what goes into my vessel for 5yrs now. No fast food, very little restaurant food, limited grocery products, a non-national brand spring water (on top of my mom's mountain water when I can get it), no global medicines, very limited regular medicines, a whole lot of imported & home grown foods, and lots of prayer. It's very time consuming and exhausting. 😕🤷🏼‍♀️

    Hi Emily, I can relate to how difficult life is when you cannot be active. I have the flu now and am treating it with cough syrup and louzenges and vitamins. I do not use doctors or medicines. So, this flu (upper respiratory infection) is taking a long time to get rid of. The main problem is a persistent cough, but the cough comes from deep in my lungs where the congestion is. It is a scary cough sometimes where you cannot seem to stop. I will pray for you to heal in God's timing and would appreciate your prayars for me...thanks.and God bless...by His stripes we are healed...Amen.

    Emily you are so strong. Thank you for being transparent with your words and recovery. I suffered a brain injury 30 years ago in a motorcycle accident. I was struck while I was at a stop light. The driver hit me and sent me sliding through the intersection, thank god there was no cross traffic. I slid 65 feet with my motorcycle. I was fully protected with my helmet and leather coat. I went to stand up and down I went. Next thing I new I was at the emergency department. The nurse showed me my helmet and the was a6 inch crack in the back of it. It took me two years of recovery to get my function back to where I didn’t hear the buzz it my head. Today I’m 67 and am very active. I walk 5 miles a day and tomorrow I leave for a 5 day back country trip in my home state of Montana. You really are doing the right thing for your recovery and going north seemed to be your best medicine. Take your time post when you’re able to. 🫶🏻🙏🏻🏕️

    I'll share my experience with a severe concussion! I'm 71 now, when I was 14 I was in a bad tractor accident! When I came to, I only had tunnel vision ! I shut the tractor off and walked to the house and everything went black! The next thing I remember, mom is calling me to get up and get ready for church! The accident was a week prior, and I'd spent 3 days in the hospital that I had no memory of! I have had a ringing in my ears ever since! I've had a few other small concussions in mishaps over the years since, but nothing like that first one! Take time to heal!!

    You do not know me but I have followed your dad for years. When I was teenager I had an accident getting brain damage as you. It took some years to recover and first months I was very weak but later I started doing weightlifting and trained for 30 years. Was also competing in olympic weightlifting in Finnish Academic Competition in 1970-ies. I have recovered fully, so just be patient! Now I am 75 years old and still having a good time. Got married eight years ago to Lety from Mexico City. We met on fb!! So take it easy step by step. You will notice the recovering and that will encourage you to go on.
    For me after laying in bed tor two months I could not read, not walk and had smell hallucinations and for two years balance difficaulties. If I turned my head hastily I woke up laying on the ground not realising I had fallen. Took two years to get rid of that completely. And from that to competing weightlifter...

    Awe Emily it breaks my heart to see you struggling like you are. Concussions do take alot of down time to rest and let your brain heal and when your an active person that makes the process of letting your brain heal even tougher.
    It brought tear to my eyes seeing you so upset like this. Im praying for you Emily for God to give you the patience and help in healing your brain and ease the concussion symptoms and get you back to normal again.
    If or when you do start back playing soccer please be careful it as you know can be a really rough sport.
    Glad to see you got out in the wilderness where you love it so much it helps to clear your mind and the quiet and peacefulness helps with your brain injury.

    Hey Emily, Thanks for posting your struggles! By happenstance I came across your posting. Brain injuries are a very serious matter and can have everlasting effects. I know this because I have been a youth Lacrosse coach and have to take concussion training each year and receive certification for it so it accompanies my coaching credentials. A brain injury is quite a serious matter as you know. Two years ago, I suffered a fall and was severely concussed. I had played semi pro contact sports earlier on in my life and have sustained several concussions as a result. Each time a person is concussed there stands a great likelihood next one can be very serious. After the fall from two years ago, I spent 37 days in a hospital that I do not recall at all. No memories. Zip. Ningun Nada. Someone took a picture of me there that I saw and the look on my face was downright depressing. My neurologist prepped my family that I may not make it back and there was a good chance I would have the mindset of a 12 year old for the rest of my life. I was able to make it back and I'm in the process of writing a book documenting what I have gone through. Keep the faith girl, you will overcome this.

    Emily, I am sorry for your sports injury. A brain injury is a hidden injury...especially to others. Brain injuries are also cumulative. Any future injury MUST be considered as serious as this one. I fell from a ladder onto a concrete floor back in 2006...I broke my right wrist and everything from my upper lip to the middle of my skull (all of the bones in my face including my nose, both cheek bones, both eye sockets, my olefactory bulbs (what we smell with) and tore the lining of my brain. The wrist (my dominant one) was shattered in the fall and surgically repaired...we gave me back about 80% movement. The plastic surgeon who did my facial/cranial repair (5 days after I fell) was VERY good in that he repaired everything including both eye sockets and I have very little duplopia (double vision). I lost almost all of my sense of smell. I took me 3-5 months to get back to "normal". I was blesed in that I had a good friend who is a world class research psychiatrist (she has done extensive reseach at Walter Reed on soldiers returning from Afganistan and Iraq and also on auto accident victims at NIH in Washington DC). She is the one who told me that traumatic brain injuries are cumulative. She told me, "We can't repair the brain after such injury...we can teach you coping skills." Please continue to take this seriously and BE patient. Your brain was changed because of your injury...learn to live quietly (the woods and such...where your dad lives and works) are great. Your will probably notice more issues when you are tired...so get your rest. It happened...it can't be undone...the worst hypersensitivities will likely mostly or entirely abate...accept it...cope with it and you will get to living a new normal.

    My brother in law's grandfather's private jet pilot walked and looked crooked till he died. He had the misfortune on his very first parachute jump as a parabat, of his parachute failing to open. He is one of the precious few who hit the ground and survived. It took a long time to recover, but the body is extremely resilient. He qualified to fly Lear jets commercially and had a good life after that. You'll rebound fine in time, I'm sure. I'd just stay very far away from a high protein diet, if it were me, if I wanted to facilitate healing. Good luck and happy tomorrows.
