I am currently in the process of renovating this cabin and turning it into a liveable tiny home. I hope you enjoy episode 2 of the Cabin Renovation Series. In this episode I go kayaking on a river and lay the flooring in the cabin.

Emily I did here about your channel through your Father's channel. But it is always refreshing to watch young people that have ambition and drive. When I stumbled on your father's channel a couple years ago it was clear to see that he was different than most. And what I mean by that is he has ambition, drive morals and ethics. Been watching your dads videos for several years. Stumbled across yours and glad I did. You remind me very much of daughter. Personality, common sense, a love of the outdoors, and a strong work ethic. You’ll do fine in life. Keep spending time with your dad (and mom) outdoors as time flies by all too fast. During our toughest portages, my daughter just smiles and says “making memories dad”. Keep making your memories.
Seeing such a young person trying to make their own way in life needs no apology to anyone, you clearly have goals in mind with your on going education and work ethics that will pay it's own benefits and shape who you are. With your dad by your side showing you his skills over the next few weeks or months you will no doubt be fine and build yourself a cabin to be proud of, which will give you more confidence for future projects you undertake and make your dad even more proud of you. This is sensational! Don’t ever apologize for your style, as long as it’s your own! Or for not being your dad- we love him but I relate more easily to you because I’m not a master of anything, I’m a beginner too. There’s room for all sorts of styles and it’s sad for people to project their expectations on another person. You be you girl- it’s perfect that way! The fact you’re learning as you go is very relatable because while it’s great to have experience in the trades like your dad is, not everyone has that background. It’s definitely a plus to have your dad for tips and tricks as you go along. I’m 53 and know no more than you do about renovating the cabin and other projects to come. Thanks for starting the channel. One thing folks might like to know is the effort you’re putting into making the videos, audio, music etc must be at least as much if not more than the work you’re doing in the video itself.

I love the fact that you are your fathers daughter and are choosing to follow in his footsteps so to speak. I followed in my grandfathers to become a journeyman millwright so it is cool to watch and see where this takes you. Definitely ask your dad for advice and treasure the fact that you have him there to help you.
Emie, social media can be and often is Brutal, even nasty and hateful. Remember this, most if not all of us have been watching your dad's channel and have the utmost respect for him in every way, courage, intelligence, fortitude, respect of nature, and above all his Self-Reliance. You do the same and blow through all the negative comments you may get from time to time. The Net is a jungle and if you want to walk in it you have to be able to take the good with the bad. Definitely protect yourself from the nuts and try not to reveal your location....not even general location. You'd be surprised how these nutjobs out there can easily track you down with the smallest amount of information. And always have a dog and shotgun nearby just in case. You remind me of my Niece...she is similar to yourself, young, intelligent, resourceful, beautiful and willing to work extremely hard. All those are rare in today's women and that is precisely why you will stand out for Men that want a really strong woman. Becareful and listen to your Dad.
Paint the front door your favorite color. Every time you look at it, you'll smile. If you have multiple favorite colors, be creative and put them all on the front door in a fun way. It's YOUR cabin. Make it yours. Enjoy it!

I think it’s nice that you’re taking up some of the interest that your dad does so far as living in a cabin and having a place out in the woods to go and enjoy I think both of you will have a lot of fun exploring out in the wilderness. And I say follow your dreams. And make the cabin as cute over as basic as you want it to be because after all you have to be comfortable there. I’ve been watching your dad‘s channel for a long time.

I painted inside my 16x24 white for same reason
Funny thing, I did not even noticed the painting thing, even on other channel painting the wood really disappointed me. But there was a different situation. The aesthetics was central, and the inside was plastered, and on top of that was placed the planks, with intention of lacquering. Some fake decorative beams were already natural color. And then suddenly they decided to paint the wood. I see everywhere painted wood. Only furniture is lacquered, so painting wood is a cheap solution. And after going at lengths to do something nice, throwing a cheap solution, really turned me off. Why waste the wood if painted? Just let the walls as they were. White. I was aware that I have no reason to feel that way, I am just a casual viewer among some other millions, but that was what I have felt. But here, in this small cabin, the white came natural. . .
I think it’s very cool that Emily has decided to follow her Dad’s footsteps with doing a video series on her cabin renovation. I must say I’m very impressed her video presence. I had no inclination of how she would do, recording herself. As I watched I realized and thought for her only being 20, she does very well talking on camera for the first time herself! At the age of 20 this must of been tough, having the confidence to put herself out there. And talking on camera I’m sure is not easy starting out, she is doing a great job!! I hope she is successful with what she wants to do!! I also hope people are not to critical of her and try and give her a ton of unsolicited advice, as we all know everybody is an expert and feel they need to tell people how to do things🙄 I hope they just watch and enjoy her videos for what they are and let her do her thing. She already has a great teacher/support with her Dad, when she needs it.
I have a feeling she will be very successful with this RUclips channel and hopefully it will turn into her full time income needs...
How neat. What you're accomplishing is very cool. You hold down a job, you go to college, or it comes to you, plus you're doing your best to work on your cabin. Not to mention that you even make time for your family, too. I applaud you for everything. My gosh, young lady, how cool are you? I agree with you that painting the interior white will give it a much brighter open feel. We used to vacation on a resort in a cabin with nitty pine paneling from the 50’s. It was beautiful but made the small space darker. I love a cozy snuggle feel and that can be achieved with fabrics and accessories! You did a great job with the floor!
Emily, Living life is learning one step at a time. Never feel bad about things you don't know. Remember, your father didn't know much early on in his life. Learning is the key. I own a small cabin too. I like the white, open, airy and relaxing. Allows you to be very creative with the interior. The floor turned out great! It's your space kiddo, do whatever you want! I disagree. When you're new to a market and trying to identify your target audience, you should be responsive to feedback. I'm obviously not saying to disproportionately spend time making public apologies to trolls. Adapting to legitimate criticism is part of growing. You can be less responsive when the channel is mature and viewers know what to expect.
Hi Emily. Congratulations on your channel. I was a department supervisor in the paint department at a Home Depot here in the States for several years. You are correct about the white and the comments here about size appearances. With your floor color may I suggest several primary colors to work with. Any colors and shades of the Navy or Royal Blue families. Also with that shade of Grey in the floor you'll be surprised to fine that Hunter or Forest Greens will also work. I would suggest you have your HD make you a sample size paint of a piece of your floor (color matched and flat or matte finish) and then on the color mixture sticker you'll have a read out of the component colors in you floor. This will guide you in color selections in the future. Then also find some scrap lumber and paint several coats of the sample, at least 3, on it and it can become your guide when you are looking at fabrics and accessories for the cabin.
As an aside my degrees are Art and Music so I'm a colors person.

Very nice mix of peaceful river nature images and music followed by the task of flooring, much like your dad’s channel, this combo works well, I think your channel will do well, especially if you keep it real, some mistakes which we all make, included for a visual lesson learned. I am sure if I had been spraying paint, I too would have sprayed upwind and got it blown in my face. That’s keeping it real vs a perfect edited version. Keep up the great content!

Awesome job! Yes, like a lot of older folks I love the natural wood, but this is YOUR project and you do what makes you happy! The grayish tint to flooring, although not what you were wanting, actually looks great with white walls. I like it. Agree with reasoning for interior color. Can accent with accessories for color. Red sounds good for door, but in end it's what suits you.

It is just so nice to see a young person willing to learn, glad I found you through your Dad, one no matter how old should always be willing to learn new ideas.
Think about what your favorite color is. What is the main color you choose for your clothes? I’m guessing blue. Find the “blue” that looks good with h black. Also, the odor doesn’t have to be one solid color. You can paint a landscape on it! Make it a happy door that makes you smile when you see it. I’m happy to see your videos and so glad I found your channel, thanks to you dad. I envy your journey with your dad all you will be doing and learning. Remember it doesn’t matter what other people think an like, it’s your cabin and your space to live and love! You might find some great ideas from the tiny house or apartment video. I like the inside painted white as it does make it so bright and beautiful. The flooring is a good neutral color I don’t think you’ll get tired of n it will be easy to keep clean. I think the black was a good choice for the exterior. I’m going to continue watching your videos to get caught up. When you get the other box of flooring its a good idea to get a spare box so that if the floor gets damaged you can replace the damaged bit with an exact replacement. I learned that one the hard way. Good luck with your projects.

Hey there I just came upon this video.. WOW!! Your lake venture was absolutely breathtaking, what a beautiful landscape! I also love you are making sweet memories with your father. I was a daddy's girl myself..spend as much time with your Dad as time permits, it's more important than anything else, you won't regret it. And when I was your age I went to school full-time(approximately 15+ hrs weekly) and worked a full-time job(40 hrs week) and a part time job on weekends..I also took yoga as an elective and on the weekends and staying busy kept me youthful and built my confidence. Good for u! Embrace your youth and do all u can..it will go by so fast. You are so pretty and well spoken and it seems you have had a good up bringing. It's so refreshing to see a young lady as yourself enjoying the outdoors and partaking in DIY projects, since unfortunately many of those your age currently don't do this. Keep up the good work and NEVER allow anyone to send negative posts and even continue to read it once u know it's a hater, u will occasionally receive them. I don't know your entire story, but from what I've gathered from just watching this video you are well on your way to a successful and happy life. I'm not sure if you are a spiritual individual, but I want u to know that God has huge plans for you and I'm praying for all your endeavors, and would ask you to start everyday with him. Just a few min. each day with a small prayer or reading scripture will keep you safe and on the right track!
Emily! I'm a little late to the game, as this vid is a year old, and you have probably already accomplished remarkable things in your cabin. What a wonderful video. For the little snippet of your world that you chose to share here, I am extremely impressed with your efforts. Not to sound presumptuous, but I would expect to see in later videos how your self-reliance and personal efforts produce great outcomes. I am so envious of your opportunity to enjoy the outdoors as shown here, and I think if your life continues in that way, you will find a lot of fulfillment in it. And for what it's worth, you seem to be a person of charming personality, and I hope an amazing man will win you over and want to share and enhance this kind of direction for your future.
