Someone suggested that I try sqirting some WD40 in through the spark plug hole and it worked - the cutter started and is running fine again now. I thought I'd post it here in case someone else ever had the same problem. Thanks again.

I have the line trimmer version and a bit older. Mine was discarded, I picked it up for around $20. Its really one of the best trimmers I have ever owned. It needed a full carb rebuild and cleaning. Pole is a little bent, gas cap leaks only if ya hang it, plastic is ruff, a bit twitchy on the high speed tune so I leave the mixture a bit fat but its reliable, smooth and starts fast!

Im guessing you have a small gateway but there is a model of ride on Mower that should fit through, mountteild 1228h and other repranded equivalent. Nice, cheap and easy start to ride on mowers

    • @connorwheeler4769

As I'm sure you know, larger ride ons are more expensive to repair, more risky and often less financial viable

Enjoyed that. Didn't see you grease the pinion gears on the end of the shaft. I know gardeners often forget to do these and when they fail as you'll probably allready know it's the full set you have to change for them and it isn't cheap. Grease gun is definitely the easy way but not the only option.
