Fantastic tutorial Brother. Thank you so much for uploading the video. Very informative and I'm going to give it a go myself. Thanks so much. Best wishes Lee
Yes I always do these steps but have up graded to milwaukee die grinder to shapen often wonder about the burs under the blades as there the areas where the blades contact
Thanks legend. Ye I used to do that to. Dremel I find such easier to handle and with all the attachments you can sharpen/grind/polish/cut out etc it’s great. Hope all is well on your end mate 🙂👍🏻
Hi Yes, it does the same as the super clean. I just keep WD in the shed at home and keep the Superclean with me in the Ute to use on site. Have a great day 🙂👍🏻
Great vid mate. Well explained and illustrated. Easy to follow. Just one question, heard a bit about having to spray some garden friendly cleaner after the hedging is done to prevent the plants from getting an infection from the blades. Would that cleaner you showed do that ? Cheers
Thanks mate. No, that cleaner won't disinfect. It's a good idea to disinfect them if you are trimming/pruning plants with a disease on a regular occurrence to prevent transferring it. Something like Isocol will do this. Just spray on, leave it a bit than wipe off. Hope that was of some help. Have a great day mate.
How often should you be greasing the gearbox? I've just bought the Milwaukee quik lok hedge trimmer, doesn't say anything in the manual about greasing.
...chuckling.... yeah, spray superclean on ur hedger blades after use like u do, huh. (wink-wink) It"s a cultivated habit. U'll get there, & when u do, u won't have to do all that cleaning. Good video. Thx.
Hi Emanuele Thanks very much. You should be filing off only a very small amount. I’ve never filed down to a point where I have to change the blades personally. I wouldn’t go to far as you might end up changing the horizontal blade angle. Check with your local shop after a few sharpens. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help. Have a great day 🙂👍🏻
Is the wd40 specialist lawn & garden cleaner only available in your part of the world. I am in the US, midwest ,Illinois. I don't find it on amazon or any of my hardware stores apps. Thanks
Hi Robert Apologies for the delayed response. I am not sure sorry. I thought WD 40 products were sold worldwide. Maybe the garden care products are specific to Australia. Maybe reach out to who owns WD40 product and see if they can give you some better answers than I can provide sorry. There are always plenty of other alternatives lubricants though to cleaning and maintaining your tools. Let me know what you find out. Sorry I couldn't be of much help. Have a great day. Thanks for the support. Ben
Saludos.
Especially when it comes to hedge trimmers. Used a Shindaiwa hedge trimmer for years that just screamed day in day out next to my right ear. So glad thats not the case anymore. 😃 👍
@mowtime helps with the tenitis in the ears right! We use stihl electric everything now. Chainsaws hedge trimmers ect. Plus the early morning customers are thankful 😅
Very helpful video, thank you so much. Question: My hedge trimmer hasn't been used in years and the blades are corroded with rust in parts, the blades don't move! What should I do and use?? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Marty.
Have a great week mate 👍🏻🙂
Soaking table saw blades in Simple Green is pretty effective at removing wood pitch. I imagine it would work well on anything lawn tool related.
Good idea. Thanks mate 👍 😃
Helpful video mate. Might try a dremal on my next sharpen. Been using a small grinding disc up until now. Cheers
Thanks legend.
Ye I used to do that to. Dremel I find such easier to handle and with all the attachments you can sharpen/grind/polish/cut out etc it’s great.

@@mowtime will give it a try. Thanks mate
Hi could you use the telco diamond sharpener to sharpen the blades? Thank you for sharing your knowledge around cleaning and maintaining tools.
Hi Peter
No worries at all. Glad your found it helpful.
Yes, you certainly can. Just will be a slow process.
Have a great day.
Ben 👍 😀
Great video where does the wd silicone come into the cleaning sequence is it used instead of the stihl superclean

Well worth spraying contact cleaner on battery contacts etc, they get filthy.
How often should you be greasing the gearbox? I've just bought the Milwaukee quik lok hedge trimmer, doesn't say anything in the manual about greasing.
Hi
Depending on the frequency of use. If used regularly, I would be greasing every 1-2months.
Thanks
Ben 😃 👍
👍
Thanks for the vid didnt know I had to grease the gearbox. What speed setting do you have your dremel on?
Hey mate
Ye, super important in maintaining longevity, and keeping your blades running smooth.
I run my speed on 10-15 normally.
Have a great day 🙂👍🏻

Great video. How many times do you think you can sharpen the blade until you can't no more and it's time to purchase a new trimmer blade set?
Hi Emanuele

Any woodworker's resin cleaner spray does a good job.

Electric vs petrol.....no competition
