Replacement of Rear Struts with a Quick Strut complete unit
I got them off Amazon on Cyber Monday Sale 2 pack for $72 and change after tax
    www.amazon.com...
At the time I was quoted to do this
A total cost of $766.08 to do this work which is outrageous.
    I did it for $72.49
Quick Struts were Branded as TOPAZ but when they came there were really Duralast branded from AutoZone. So it looks like TOPAZ is just a reseller brand of perhaps surplus parts.
It had the Duralast part number on label or stamped into strut.
LS33-80962B and had install instructions on a card that said Duralast
TOPAZ Part number : 171327 which also corresponds to the number for a quick strut Monroe branded part
It really isn’t too difficult job todo if you have the "quick strut" which has the spring already installed. The bolts for the strut towers are the more difficult part. Due to accessibility.
    Torque :
strut towers is about 13-15 ft-lbs
    bottom bolt 17mm is about 80+ ft-lbs

The online quotes to do this is outrageous:
    $766.08
    I did it for 72.48
And this is NOT a difficult part replacement. The front struts I believe are more difficult.
    Saving 693.60

How did they ride? They feel decent?

Felt good . I no longer have the car , I sold it. The struts ended up being just a rebranded Duralast quick strut that they sell auto autozone but with only a 1 year warranty and unlimited miles. Where as at autozone it was lifetime as long as you own the car.
There are other brands of quick struts that look almost identical to this one.

Thanks, I used the quick struts here so. I didn’t have to transfer the spring over . Also I didn’t have the spring compressor tool required. I was really surprised that the struts were really Duralast . They don’t have a lifetime warranty like they do at autozone these the warranty is 1 year unlimited mileage. But I don’t care I am selling the car 🥲
I do have 1 more vid coming on it . It’s attempting to adjust the neutral safety switch. While it’s a little better it looks like the part is getting warn out but not completely there yet. I am likely going to just leave it as it is. And just disclose it when I sell it. It’s been this way for 4 years. And I think she only has maybe 2 years left if babied along . So in all if somebody really wanted to fix it up more
      Replace transmission
      Replace rear main seal
Fix the abs system , got some weird code on scanner
      AUTEL scan tool says
      8f (Control Unit 17),
      8d (Control Unit 15)
      8c (Control Unit 14)
Replace neutral safety switch or perhaps that If it’s a used trans the one that comes with the used one is better.
I took out the cabin air filters ( it has 2) they were disgusting. I never changed it and all the times I happened to of taken it to to get oil changed was never recommended likely because it’s a royal pain in the *ss to get to. The entire glove box has to be removed and then still you barely can get to it. And often times the air bag wires get moved around some and then have to reset the air bag light.

I believe on Toyota’s to do the rear struts the entire back seat has to come out to access the strut towers. Well that’s how I saw it done on a Carolla
