This is how I remember Taylor Hawkins. I watched this video a few years ago before his passing and it was amazing then. It’s just as amazing now and even more so with how much love he shows to Dave, Luke, the fans, and the music. Rest In Peace Taylor, thanks for the memories.
Personal Opinion, Foo Fighters aren't on this level. Sorry Dave, but you I prefer it when you are on the drums and I loved to listen to Nirvana. But I am not a fan of your group the Foo Fighters, not everyone can like everything. This however, with you on the drums, you are supposed as one of the best I have ever heard, to play them anyway and someone else as Lead Vocals is something that I do like.
@@nasariogomez3530 They were Bob Dylan's backing band when he went electric. Martin Scorsese made a feature called, The Last Waltz, documenting their final shows before breaking up in the late 70's. The way he controlled Wembley at Live Aid 1985? He stood up there and did his vocal warm-up with the audience , something that intimate where they realise, 'yeah that's the f--kin' dude'"
Go see the Struts. Luke Spiller's performance is very similar. He is another super frontman as well that controls. Not sure why they are not selling out 20,000 seat arenas on their own. They are that good. Grohl realizes it and is why he has them opening.
Luke Spiller is a Showman with great stage presence very much a Peacock like Freddie was ! Luke's persona just fits the classic definition of a "Rock Star" . When he is on stage you are hypnotically drawn to him! The Struts are a refreshing ray of hope for Rock ! The Foo's shows are pretty dynamic and frequently filled with cool surprises like when they got Rick Astley up there with'em singing "Never gonna give you up! A cool "MENTOS" moment!!!
I did not notice that until I read your comment! I was recommended this video because I was watching Luke's live performances and didn't know he sang with Taylor... but this part was tearing.
A very good tribute to one of the best rock bands ever, performed by one of the best rocks bands currently in existence. Taylor Hawkins is a gem, and it is always good to see him doing Queen songs with the Foo Fighters. Add Luke Spiller to the mix and you basically have two grown men channeling their inner Freddie.
Thanks Dave - keep nurturing those guys (The Struts). They can carry their own weight the more people actually see and hear them. Your guys and their guys prove that Rock and Roll is not dead - it's alive and well.
What I like most about this band Is that they pay tribute to the band's who paved the way for them. Their musical presence shows that they want rock 'N' roll to live forever. P.S I love their music.
Taylor has a great voice. I am surprised he was never a lead singer in a Band. Interesting how him and Dave can both sing and play drums. They are so amazing.
I’ve seen The Rolling Stones, Green Day, WEEZER, fall out boy, Guns N’ Roses, poison, and this particular foo fighters concert was easily the best one I’ve ever been to
This was such a great show! I saw them that night and I saw them a few nights previous at Jones Beach. Jones Beach was better, honestly- that was a magical show and the energy was megawatt intense. But seeing them here was fantastic and it was so good! I danced my ass off and sang to every single song and had such a fantastic time. LOVE the Foo Fighters!!
Rip Taylor, you have touched my life in so many ways!! Best drummer, awesome singer, best man that I have ever had the privilege of meeting!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it was awesome seeing them do this live. the struts were pretty good. but I think his voice is awesome for covering queen. and Taylor is surprisingly good at it! the best part is when you can tell how much fun they have doing this.
I have to say I have a thirteen year old cousin and she is getting into this glam/classic rock 70s music which I'm totally thrilled about. Its really to see a resurgence with bands like The Struts and Greta Van Fleet bringing this sound to a new generation. But it must have been soooo incredible to experience Bowie and Freddie Mercury for real back in the day. I never really experienced the loss of Mercury because In was young when he died but in my middle age accepting that David Bowie passed is just, I still can't.
As a teenager it was seemingly impossible to find someone else who liked them as much as I did. To hear a whole crowd of a modern audience singing along with this got me kind of misty-eyed.
Saw the struts at download 2018 and I had never heard of them before, they just blew.me away one of the best bands of the festival and this performance is just amazing.
The Foo Fighters are stellar, they give such utter respect when they cover a song be it Queen, Metallica, Kiss or even Rick Astley, aside from their own, they just rock good music!
me and my wife flew into NYC on the 17th the day of this concert...i had no idea they were playing this night, it was about 6:30 that night and i googled "rock shows in NYC" and it popped up they were playing MSG, we walked from the Marriott in Times Square and found out it was sold out, asked someone who worked there if any tix would be available, he quietly said "go stand at the box office they will drop some tix right before the show" well we stood in line of about 10 people and it was our turn at the window and we scored front row side stage (tix were the Foo Fighters friends and family tix) i was blown TF away...i literally had my nuts on the monitor guys neck, it was unbelievable!! we were about 20 feet to the right of this camera angle front row...i hate it for the guy that paid way more than me and got the seats WAY WAY at the top in advance because it was the only ones left and i walked in 30 minutes before show and was almost sitting on the stage..
I bought tickets to a Motley Crue show right before it started and got 10th row tickets. A friend of mine who was a bartender met some roadies the night before who gave him tickets. We ended up sitting right next to each other. They were obviously tickets that were held back for whatever reason. Another person I knew bought his tickets months in advance and had nosebleed. I couldn't resist rubbing it in his face afterwards. It didn't come close to the show Dave Grohl and his band puts on though. Frickin amazing guy
