      Looks like he's using Dave Grohl's monitors and microphone. The drums are probably loud as is Dave screaming at you, but the other instruments are probably pretty low in the monitors. The front row is more likely to go deaf!

      Lisa Reichard Lol, I’m not Canadian but I have a lot of friends & family who are (all of my in-laws and a couple cousins). Everyone who grew up in the 70’s and 80’s are Rush zealots. To hear Dave Grohl say that IN Canada I thought was funny. It would be like going to Liverpool, England and saying “nobody knows all the words to Hey Jude”

      The grunge bands from the 90's that have continued to shine like Green Day and The Foo Fighters are proof that keeping it classy and always wanting to stay relevant is possible without having to create drama. Both bands started from pretty much nothing and you can see that are still grateful!

Dave will always try and do what's best for fans to have a special experience when he performs.     I've been a Rush fan for well over 3 decades now and that was one of the most awesome things I've ever seen and heard! Amazing job Brian. you nailed it!       I understand wanting to bury an outsider a touch in the mix, just in case he's terrible, but that was ridiculous.

      The mic was all set up for Dave's yelly voice and in a big production like this, most of the mixing happens in soundcheck and gig time is locked off. You can see the stage crew rushing to get the spare mic they would usually use for something like this but he starts on Dave's too quickly.

      My favorite all time "Dave face" is when Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones joined the Foos onstage at the O2 arena in London to cover RnR and Ramble On. At one point during Ramble On Page does this high to low slide about 15 frets up the neck and Dave just freezes for a second watching, soaking it in... A definite "I'm onstage with FN Page" moment in time.

    The thing about rock is the spontaneity and the pure sloppy raw fun of it all.

      I thought the mix sounded fine but any drifting in the vocal sound I would put on Brian who probably hasn't had much practice with arena shows.
