I own a Super Crush head. It's solid state, but it sounds pretty dope. For downtuned sludgy stuff, for metalcore, for doom, I love it. I also own a Joyo Meteor II Bantamp XL, and a Joyo Oxford Sound (both of those are "orange flavored" lol). In case no one can tell, I love Orange Amps. From what I've seen online, The Dark Terror, the Rocker 15 Terror, and the OR 15 are the main "budget friendly" ones, as far as tube amps go. I have a buddy with a MicroDark, and another with a Dark Terror. They've told me an EQ pedal in the loop is generally beneficial, and other than that, an OD pedal out front, and a noise gate is all you need.
@@needsLITHIUM I might not even boost this for playing my baritone. It has a nice heavy fuzz like feel with the gain up. I like the overall tone sweep. I might try an EQ in the loop, but I find sometimes that can take away some character on the amp, and the simplicity of this one is really nice.
I have a Rockerverb MKIII and everytime I turn it on I have a stupid smile on my face. I’ve been considering picking up a Super Crush as a backup and to have that double Orange stack look for cheaper lol

I used to have one of these. I liked to put a 12AU7 in V1 to lower the overall gain and keep the fizziness down. It's for sure a fun little amp with lots of potential. I'd never gig with one without a backup though...changing a tube at a gig on one of these would blow.
By far . You put a eq in the loop and put this through a mesa 4x12 oversized cabinet and its a beast. It holds its own with my Mr Scary modded Badlander. Killer little amp, i got a used one off Reverb for 350.00$

I actually owned a joyo meteor II for a while. The solid state power amps on those don’t quite push like the tube amps do. But it sounded really good. The micro dark looks interesting and might be more comparable to the joyo, but it seems like the orange sound works well in a small form factor.
@@BaritoneGoatStudio Absolutely because of the midrange gain structure, but it seems 15 watt are not enough for rehearsals, that's actually a problem even for the cheaper price. I own the PRS MT 15 and it is loud enough even for smaller gigs.
Here's to a safe and rockin' 2025 to you and yours! Should you venture further down the Orange road, the OR15/OR30 would be a good stop and, for a bit of a different flavor, the AD30.
16 heads of all different brand, size and wattage... And I still probably pull out my Dark Terror more than anything else... (Although im going thru a serious Rockerverb MkIII phase at the moment)
@@27retrodaze it is pretty much as plug and play as I can get. I have found a few different spots that I really like on the sweep. It punches and just sounds good. I was expecting to find it to just be ok, but it is a great sounding amp!
Orange are different thing with pedal and i have orange CR20 and CR100 and i love it CR100 solid state but sound really good with any speaker n now just us IR... nice video
I own lots high gain 100w tube heads, a bunch of lunch box sized ones too (full tube and solid state). Definitely the Dark Terror is among my favorites, the DT and the PRS MT15 punch way above their size, power and price, putting to shame larger and more expensive amps. Compared with the MT15, is a bit feature stripped and a bit less versatile when just comparing the lead channels, the DT doesnt have a dedicated clean channel, so the PRS wins by a massive margin if you need cleans, but the DT definitely has its own sound and stands on its own. Plug a graphic EQ in the loop and you can get any tone you imagine, boosting it definitely tightens it into modern high gain standards. I recommend the new parametric EQ from Ibanez, the PTEQ with 5 bands, doesn't break the bank and sounds HUGE!!!
MT15 is next on my list. I have played one, and it almost seems out of the league of lunch box amps with how loud it is. Full sized tubes and decent sized output transformer, I suspect it pushes more than 15 watts. It is louder than the DT to me at least. But it probably has the edge. I am just impressed how Orange were able to get an EL84 power section to push a full low end and drive my 412 with nothing really lacking.
@@JaimeNoro I almost don’t consider that amp a lunchbox. Even though technically… it is. It is also much bulkier, way louder and has full sized tubes. It kinda sits in a middle ground… same thing with the PRS MT15. The ENGL is also double the price. I have a hard time comparing them as equal platforms.
I think through cab in the room you could easily pick out the tube power amp and low-end response differences. Close micing the cab might be different, but I would still bet you would hear a difference in the low mids. If you were just running the preamp into a load box and IR, probably not.
Keep up the great videos dude!!
