@@ghazanfardar1630cultural subjugation is the worst kind as it destroys the social fabric of a civilisation- see what happened in Mesopotamia, Persia and Egypt - language, religion, society and its people all destroyed.
Mughals were invaders, some of them decided to settle down and pushed their culture and religion but people pushed back and that’s the reason Bharat/ India is still strong and will continue to gain strength of a super power (its natural state) and there is nothing invaders can do about it!

@@GSR356 The Muslim rule of India did not begin with the Mughal Empire. A strong Indo-Muslim society based on pluralism and tolerance had already evolved after the Arabs rule of Sindh & with the establishment of Delhi Sultanate. India survived and progressed due to successful fusion of various cultures, religions and languages. Today, you are telling us that India would become a superpower very soon. Had you had any knowledge of history, you would have known that India's GDP was 27% of the world GDP under the Mughal Empire which at that time was more than the GDP of China and America. India's industrial production was 25% of the global industrial production. During the Delhi Sultanate, some historians' estimate is that India's GDP was around 40% of the world GDP. India was the largest economy & military power of the world during the reign of Delhi Sultanate and the Mughal rule.
You can only understand this if you read the history and come out of your low narrow thinking of a religious extremist & prejudiced mindset.
Hindus and Muslims had lived peacefully and intermixed even to the extent of interfaith marriages in a secular tolerant society. It was only after the end of Mughal Empire that the Indian society degenerated and religious bigots like you propped up & made the Indian society a hostage of religious extremism. Better come out of it and open your eyes to the reality and historic truths.

That wealth was not exported from India during and before Mughal rule is not correct. Wars of Central Asia and Persia and MughAls were funded by the raids and plunder of this land. Even the wars between the British Empire and Napoleon were funded by Indian wealth. Infact one main aim of EIC was to ensure the French did not succeeed in raising funds from India, which had a telling impact on the wars in Europe

Before islamic rule in India, India had 35% of world gdp (highest in the world of that time).
During end of islamic rule and inception of british raj, India had 15% of world gdp of that time (highly lost, plundered and destroyed during 600 years of islamic rule, almost 120-150 trillion gbp).
After end of british raj and time of independence of India, India's gdp was only a meagre 3% of the world gdp of that time (due to plundering of wealth from India by britishers, almost 50 trillion gbp).

Wow. Excellent description of Mughal Era, Dr. Sahiba. Although 53-minute duration is a testing time of patience for modern audiences. However, for those who are truly interested, listening without interruptions, it a treat. The discussion covered various aspects of life under the Mughal empire, from internal and external policies to religo-political dynamics, socio-economic conditions, agriculture, and infrastructure. It was a surprising fact for me, despite contributing 42% of the GDP, the Mughals were ultimately overthrown by the East India Company besides facing other challenges.
I am also surprised that the host did not touch upon the education policy of the Mughal era. Many were eager to hear about this, especially considering criticisms from scholars like Dr. Pervaiz Hoodbhai, who sarcastically, remarked that "while the Mughals were building the Taj Mahal or other monuments, the West was establishing prestigious universities like Oxford and Harvard etc".
Also, listening this whole conversation, I guess, one major factor contributing to the decline of the Mughals was the Hindu powers' revolt against the later Mughal dynasties, if so, it definitely shows that the defense system of the Mughals was insufficient. And last but indeed not the least, the legacy of Mughals in shape of monuments, majority of them are in Pakistan, but the revenue generated monuments are part of India. May be we are not good in promotion of tourism sector. :)

Good to see that you are discussing about "US"... India had rich civilization since ancient times and that is evident in our ancient artifacts itself with a scientific proven context. The Magadh kingdom's navy is considered to be the first recorded navy in the world. India has roots of its ancient culture even outside of India and that is also evident in ancient temples in different part of world. Nalanda University, established in the 5th century CE in modern-day Bihar, India, is considered one of the first residential universities in the world. ++ Well India, Pakistan and Bangladesh has same history. We should not forget our history, however better to focus in present and future.
Just keep aside the history for some time which is in ignorance anyway... The sad part is, what we think about each other....! That is important, because this completely reflects in actual minorities living in both Pakistan and Bangladesh. While comparing with India, we have even more Muslim population compare to Pakistan as of now that is called as a minority in India! Please correct your acceptance mindset of actual minorities in your respective countries first before calling out "US". Lets start giving respect to our joint history and unique existence.

How did the British conquer India?
This has been explained in detail in the book "The Anarchy: The Relentless Rise of the East India Company" by William Dalrymple or tune into his Podcast Series “Empire". Both provide an insightful history of a series of events and missteps that caused the takeover of the Indian subcontinent, initially by the East India Company, and later by the Crown.
According to Al Jazeera, "Between 1880 to 1920, British colonial policies in India claimed more lives than all famines in the Soviet Union, Maoist China and North Korea combined."
According to a study done in the UK by Neelam Tailor, "People of south Asian origin today are between four and six times more likely to get type 2 diabetes than white people. While the role of diet and lifestyle has been explored, it’s only recently that the impact of the disproportionate number of famines under British colonial rule has been uncovered. Neelam Tailor looks into the history of famines during the British Raj and their lasting impact on south Asian genes."

The main cause of the decline of the Durrani dynasty was the loss of thousands of battle hardened troops against the Marathas. there was a great loss of Durrani Empire's military power in the entire struggle. sikh missals took an advantage of loosening Durrani control over Punjab due to weakening of power in the struggle against Marathas, rose into rebellion and eventually united under Ranjit Singh. They captured Amritsar (1802), Ludhiana (1806), Multan, Kashmir, Ladakh, Peshawar, the Khyber Pass and Lahore. 😂😂.
      🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
and other side: visaji pant Beniwal(Maratha)🚩🚩
In February 1772, along with Mahadji Shinde, he overpowered the Rohilkhand at Shukratal by defeating Zabita Khan. He took severe revenge of the defeat of Panipat by breaking the tomb of Najib Khan, by loot*** the artillery and wealth of the Rohillas and by recovering from them an additional tribute of Rs.40 lakhs.
In 1772 Marathas capture Delhi again. With this battle they regained their lost supremacy in North India after the Third Battle of Panipat and conquered much of the lost territories which they lost after the Third Battle of Panipat. 🚩🚩🚩

Without any understating of the Mughals, let’s put them in context. The Mughal Empire lasted a mere 331 years (1526-1856). In contrast look at the following:
CHOLA EMPIRE: 3rd century BCE - 1279 CE. Influence extended to the present day Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Thailand.
    AHOM EMPIRE: 1228 CE - 1826 CE
KUSHAN EMPIRE:1st century BCE - 3rd Century BCE.
The Mughals, except for brief forays of Aurangazeb, never ventured south of the Vindhyas. The Mughals were but a brief chapter in the long and glorious history of Bharat. It is interesting that Akbar who showed tolerance towards his Hindu subjects doesn’t find a place in Pakistan, where as Aurangzeb, a religious bigot, is a great favorite for naming Pakistani children.

In terms of % share of Global GDP, Indian numbers have been estimated at 32% in 1 CE (with Global population share of 30.03%), at 28% in 1000 CE (Global population share of 27.15%), at 24.35% in 1500 CE (Global population share of 18%), at 22.39 % in 1600 CE (with Global population share of 17.98%) at 24.43% in 1700 CE (Global population share of 27.36%) at 16.04% in 1820 CE (Global population share of 20.06%) at 12.14% in 1870 CE (Global population share of 19.83%). It is clear that right from beginning of 1 CE to 1500 CE the Indian GDP as % share of Global GDP was higher than corresponding % share of Global population and started declining thereafter- incidentally as Mughals came in (1526 CE onwards). Mughals can not claim having brought prosperity to India which was already prosperous enough to attract Mughals (and others) to invade it.
(source of data is article "Economic history of India" on Wikipedia)
More than GDP it was stoppage of enlightenment whereby Indian contribution to STEM subjects declined and dwindled during Mughal rule (as is the case worldwide post 13th Century / Post Al Gazali era in Islam's history) only to recover with modern English education in post industrial revolution time.

Historical events are covered only after taking a hefty dose of steroid. The Arab invasion of Sind is covered flippantly. In fact, it's a prologue to hundreds of invasions that were to follow. In a book "Among the Believers', the writer Naipaul covers this selective killings of a warrior class and export of men and women used as bounty in Arab lands. The burden of history is too heavy. Both the host and the guest are not equipped to carry this load. Impossible to sit through this video. Exist, please.
