    Change your ejector and spring on that savage. Watching you dig the case out reminds me of me. Then I changed the ejector and spring. Life is better now. Good job with your channel.

    This is very helpful. Varget works excellent, but has become very rare. I do see more VV powders on the shelf these days.

      @@RobsReloading I am looking at Barnes, Nosler, Berger 223 cal.70-77 for my AR. SMK 69s have always done really well for me. Hornady's 68 bthp is not so consistent in my ARs. I had 1 sub moa & 3 sad groups last week with them. The IMI 855 shot better than the 68 Hornady. MOA & better with all the 69 Sierra. But I am going to try so heavier offerings. Berger is expensive but I think I will give them a look at some point. But you and a few other channels show promise Barnes Match Burners.

    QL also predicted a much lower velocity of 2510 fps with a max charge of 27 grains of N540- at 70° F with your larger case volume of 35.6 grains of water and long COAL of 2.335" (bolt gun pressure). That's a pretty substantial difference and why we always need to start low and work up!

      I have 2 batches of Hornady 6.5 grendel brass that is resized. 1 batch has the larger case volume and 1 batch is closer to the standard. Results for n540 here turned out really well here.

    Good day, I'm a Grendel fan and have watched your channel from the being. When I have some extra cash and I'm all done with my Grendel I will go for 6mm ARC. I also shoot the 243 win and so I have a lot of bullets for the ARC. Keep up the good work!

      The Grendel is a great cartridge ans still enjoy shooting it. One day I'll add a bolt grendel to collection.

    Good video, i alway like seeing the groups come together. Are you going to do a seating depth test to see if it helps your groups and ES's?
    Was the barrel cold when you shot that first shot that had a higher velocity? My cold bore shots are always faster than the rest. A lot of my rifles take three or more shots to settle down.

    • @RobsReloading
      @RobsReloading  2 года назад

      The first shot in the velocity string was the 4th shot of that session so was not a cold bore. It seems even not bring cold bore often the first shot in the string runs higher than the rest. Not sure I will try to tune this any further as of right now. I do take it out to 450yds for some further testing.

    Try AR-COMP powder every thing else the same except maybe start .4g lower I think you will like the results.

    What is the make and model name for the blue ammo box you are using?
    I'm getting ready to start loading for my 6mm ARC and need some boxes. I like what you're using. Nice and compact. Thanks!

    Great vid! Interesting you chose N540. Seems not many folks have tried VV powder in this cartridge yet. (Well, as far as youtube vids are concerned.)
    Here's a comparison between bolt vs gas. Mine is a 24" heavy barrel gasser. Your load at 26.7, 2624 fps in a bolt. My load at 26.6 using N540, hornady 108 eld-m and cci 400, 2573 fps. Is it because you used the 450 primers or is there that much loss due to the gas system? I don't know.
    I just switched everything up in mine to 105gr berger hybrid and N150. My node came in between 27.6-27.9 gr. 27.6 was 2634 fps and 27.9 was 2636fps. I'm going with 27.7gr and calling it good. (per the advice of a pro shooter) Can't wait to get my bolt gun built. Gassers are fun but really want a bolt gun.

      Intesting results. I have not tried n150. Looks like results were better than n540 and I might need to pick some up. Nothing is more fun than shooting low recoil bolt gun.
