    Try 29.7-30.0gr LVR. CCI41 or CCI 450s. Should be at least 2750fps.

    I would check the firing pin shape to be sure it's not deformed ? I don't have a 6arc but do run 26.5 gr of h4895 / 123 gr bullet/ cci 400 primer/ 6.5 Grendel loads and never had a pieced primer.
    It almost seems like you're running a pistol primer instead of a CCI 400 ?
    Primers are not the best indicator of pressure .
    Measure for case swell near the case base to confirm ?

    CCI 400 and Rem 6 1/2 primers was developed for 22 hornet pressures, they are not ment to be used in the 6mm ARC!!!

    I couldn’t get non magnum primers (or soft primers) to work with 6arc at all.

    CCI 400 primers are not as thick as others. They will crater/pierce at moderate pressure levels compared to CCI 450's or most other small rifle primers. I used IMR 4895 at 26.0 grains with cci 450's and Hornady 105 bthp bullets with good results, 2641 ave, SD 11.63 and 4 shots at .465.

    When you are looking to use powders without accurate information for your application. Usually the website data is based on ideal burn speed for the application. PLEASE either use Quickload or Gordan's Reloading Tool to work up a starting load. Quickload can actually suggest the best powder from its database for your combination. START LOW and work your way up for safety sake. Had that first load been measured into a new SAAMI spec brass instead of your fire formed one, it would have been even hotter..
    Thanks for the Video!

      I agree their is a reason they did not list H4895 for this application , wrong powder to use

    CCI400 have too thin cups. With CCI450 you would not have any problems.

    Looks like your firing pin is too long. I use Winchester 6-1/2 primers. Over pressure the primer outside should be more flat on the outside.

    I saw they released a new Saami spec MAP of 62,000 for bolt actions in 6 arc

    Wow! You should be getting 2500~ish with 25gr 4895 from a 22”, 52000 psi. Something is wrong.
    Edit: never mind, I thought your first set you started from 25.0. It looks like you were getting what you should have for those powder charges.

    That 25.3 is very impressive. I have zero experience with 6 ARC but I want to like it. In fact, your tests & content along with other guntubers out there have drawn my attention and appreciation to/for it. Surely the temperature stability of H4895 would be an asset for hunting seasons cooler temps. 2600 muzzle with this bullet should be good out to 300 yards for whitetail, especially with your skill and marksmanship. Can you expound a little on your comment on this powder being "too fast" for this load? That interests me. I am not an expert on reloading and certainly do not claim to be. I have been reloading shotgun, handgun since the mid 80s and got into rifle handloading a few years after. I have learned quite a bit more of late from you and your fellow guntubers. Thanks.

      Some powders burn fast, for pistol like applications, some burn slow for Magnum rifle like applications. This powder is way too fast for 6ARC. If he's getting 2600 fps he's way way over pressure with most barrel lengths.

    Hey man if your interested I made some pdf files for printing targets on 11x17 paper I have 1 inch dots 1.5, 2, 4, and 8 inch.. 10 dots per paper it's like the targets Shannon at JRB uses. If your interested I could email you the files

      I have been looking into getting some targets with smaller dots. I use 1" usually and feel they don't provide a precise point of aim. Any plans to make targets with 0.5" or 0.25" dots.

    • @Forumrida38621

      @@RobsReloading no but I found that the inner piece of the dot on the 2 inch ones provides a really good piece for point of aim.. it would be about .25 inch

    I commented on last video. Same rifle and was getting pierced primers in hornady factory 108 loads and with handloads. Since switching to lapua brass I haven’t had a pierced primer. I also switched to CCI BR primers about the same time. Can’t remember for sure if I used any CCI BR in hornady brass or not. Wish I could remember and maybe that would help narrow down the cause. Getting 3,000 -3,020 fps with 87 vmax and 27.8 - 28 gr benchmark. And 2,900 with 90 gamechanger and leverevolution 30.2 gr. I worked up almost 32 gr lever was getting pretty good pressure signs but no piercer primers or much cratering

  • @bnicedanicest6288
    @bnicedanicest6288 2 года назад

    Did those pierced primers happen on the cases that had the looser primer pockets? You probably need a new firing pin now thx

      @@RobsReloading it can maybe not so much on just one pierced primer incident but get a magnifying glass look at a brand new one vs. one that has pierced primers it will deform the firing pin I have a few extra firing pins

    It is not the primers. H4895 is just too fast for the application. Not that H4895 is not a good powder. I have been beaten many times in 223 Rem matches by guys using H4895 but at a lower velocities than my best Varget loads.

      I agree the primer cups are too thin the remington 7 1/2 , cci br or even cci small rifle magnum are just slightly thicker cups and work better

  • @userJohnSmith
    @userJohnSmith 2 года назад

    This is absolutely a powder issue. Any research will show this is an incredibly bad load combo for this round and bullet weight. You'll be dangerously over pressure before your velocity becomes acceptable. 4350/Varget if you want to be in the extreme powder series otherwise live with leverevo/CFE-223/etc's temp issues.
