I definitely take that as a compliment I have been a big fan of his videos, he taught me how to reload with his beginner series, none of my family reloads it was mostly JRB and a few other channels on YT. I don’t know for sure if he is done permanently but I know hes taken breaks before. Hopefully he comes back around and enjoys making the content in the future if not he has a pile of excellent videos. I’ve done reloading videos a long time but getting back to make my videos he pushed me to put more effort into it.
@WestDesertShooter it is a compliment! Its relaxing to watch and also informative. And i agree ive watched almost all of his content and learned how to reload and develop loads almost exclusively through his channel. I hope he does come back soon! But either way cant have too many reloading videos so keep up the good work man.
I recently bought a Uintah Left Hand UPR-15 in 6mmARC. I have a small supply of CFE223, 2520, 108 ELDX, Hornady 105 HPBT as well as 300 rounds of Starline 6mmARC brass. I thoroughly enjoyed this video and look Forward to the next especially if it includes 2520.
This was great! I dont see a part 2, and I hope you haven't given up on this after a year. My 6 ARC build is just waiting on glass, and then I'll have a lot of brass to start my own loads with.
Hey Logan, I watched this video when it first came out, I have two Uintahs and I notice you stay with mag length loads. I use a sled and single load when I shoot which gives me an option of much longer OAL. I’m told by people who are much smarter than me that I was leaving a lot on the table with so much bullet in the case. What are your thoughts?
My cfe223 loads with 6arc don't hod together but similar loads with LeaverRevalution are 5 shots in .245 inch. same bullet same primer same brass and same gun goes from 2 inch to .2 inch. I cant figure it out.
Great video and I’m an owner and big fan of the Uintah UPR-15 in 223. I’m looking at stepping up to either a 6mm ARC or 22 ARC, my friend is getting his 6mm ARC soon so I’ll get to try before I buy👍 Thanks
Just got out today with Staball Match and some 105 BTHP Hornady BLEM’s and my best load on my 20” Gasser was 27.3gr 2.25 length approx 1.45” CBO with my ogive tool. 2530FPS and was shooting lights out sub half inch group. My particular ARC seems to like the BTHP’s better than the ELD family of bullets. I’m at and around 1” with factory ELDM and X rounds both. Maybe just a hair under, but still good enough to get on steel second shot at 1000 yards. Heck of a cartridge for the AR15
I have a custom built 6 arc in a ar 15 platform. Hands down the most accurate ar I have but the factory Hornady and some reloads with CFE223 have been filthy. Just wandering if there's something cleaner burning? I've installed an adjustable gas block so hopefully it will help.
Just started loading 6 ARC for a Savage 110 Tactical. Good information and looking forward to what you come up with next. On a side note I have a friend loading the 105 gr BTHP Hornady bullets and he’s getting great results for a less money.
I find that the Lee neck crimp die makes an exact pressure on the cartridge neck, cartridge after cartridge. That consistency equals accuracy. When you can produce the exact same pressure behind the projectile every time..
Does the Uintah bolt have more material around the bolt head than an AR-15? If so is this a Uintah specific upper that’s not interchangeable with AR-15? I was under the impression that that removing the material for the larger diameter PPC case heads is what reduces the pressure limit for AR-15 ARC loads.
Getting a 6.5prc so i can mess around with stabal hd. Might take a break from varget and try out some stabal match in my 308. Very curious to see how things ho for you in tge future
I have a gas gun and have found 2520 to be outstanding for mine with Hornady 90 CX, 103 ELD-X and Sierra 90 TGK. CFE-223 has worked extremely well so far with the 103's. Mine has a 24" barrel so I get better velocities than the gas gun load data from Hornady showing an 18" barrel.
Love to see more bolt gun 6ARC videos! I see you have VV N540, since I have worked up a couple loads I thought I could help you out for determining powder charges. Out of my rifle, I started to see pressure signs develop around 27.5gr of powder for 107grsmk and 105bthp bullets. Be aware, it is slightly temp sensitive, not nearly as bad as CFE223 though. This is a very energy dense powder, even with the lower charge, its velocity is still pretty good, about 75fps faster than varget at the same charge. With that said, all my competition loads are with varget because it is just so darn accurate and consistent, even though it is slower than most powders.
So I have bought a ton of factory second bullets from midway and most boxes are perfect just cosmetic stuff like discolored plastic tips or copper jacket. But I did get a box recently of ELDX for 6.5 creed that was messed up the base to ogive was off by a lot
Also, not sure if you’ve gotten your hands on any Hornady 105 bthp, but my gun doesn’t like them so if you’d like to try them I’d be happy to toss them your way.
@@jdrollason yeah sounds right. I run a 18” Odin works one. Well good luck with the custom bolt build. I will be doing one on my channel this fall. And should be a lot of fun!
H4895 would be another excellent "extreme" powder. its one of my favorites along with benchmark and varget, in 204ruger, 223rem(bolt) and my most recent 6.5 grendel in a howa mini. i picked up a couple lbs of cfe223 and im hoping i can find a love for it given its temp sensitivity. its always seems to be a top velocity performer in the books. love both your channels dude we would be good friends haha.
I have been using ar-comp with my 6arc gas gun really good consistency and accuracy not the greatest for velocity but its pretty good velocity considering
I reload for a gas gun and if you have a strong bolt (jp,rubber city) you can go close to bolt data. With cfe i saw press signs at 29.6gn (light swipes) in my gun. Acc likes 27.4gn .025 jump .617in @100 2584fps sd 8 es 18 108gn eldm. It holds to 500y thats my range limit☹. Again from what I've heard the pressure limit was bc of the bolt material that had to be removed on the ar15. These numbers are the first 150 rounds in this barrel, i hope it speeds up some.
The 6ARC is a lot of fun. I'm getting better accuracy with the 105 BTHP. My Lilja likes Leverevolution over CFE223 which is sad because I had so much CFE for the Grendel.
I get 2700fps from a 20" gas gun, with 29g leverevolution 107g SMK. Hornady load data states 29.7g is max. However, I believe hornady over charges their ammunition. they put 30.2 g of powder in their factory 108 loads. Factory 108 loads in my gun are 2750fps and they shoot like shit. The throat in my chamber seems to be long, I have to load to mag length to get decent groups.
Varget will give you about the same results as staball, maybe a little better accuracy and SDs. Building a bolt gun that uses AR mags for this cartridge doesn't make sense. Loading the heavier high BC bullets puts the base of the bullet into the powder column in order to keep them at mag length. It's like balancing a bowling ball on a broom stick.😁 Most bullets in the 90gr area keeps the bullet at or above the shoulder and still fit in the AR mag.
This video would have been a lot better if you had adjusted the windage instead of shooting on the wrong target. And you said, "Hornady LeverEvolution". That kind of crap drives me nuts.
Nothing was changed on the primer. The color difference is dry lube. Sometimes it all doesn't come off before boxing. I have had boxes of .243 WIN 100 grain .core-lokt with both color primers mixed and called Remington about 10 years ago to complain. The "load master" in charge of the lines told me what I just told you. Its a dry lube for high speed machines to run smoothly without adverse effects on primer performance or ignition. Take the cases with the silver primers and rub them vigorously back and forth on your carpet a few times or use a pencil eraser and you'll see the primer go back to brass color.
This really fills the hole in my heart johnnys reloading bench left when he stopped making videos

Just bought a Uintah precision, should be here in the next couple days, really looking forward to more videos on this
I picked up a Uintah Precision in 6mm ARC as well. Planning on building a gas upper and build out a precision focused lower to run both on.
Seems like you were at a great node, maybe fine tune jump or try the tighter bushing.? Great video.

I really like le Wilsons mandrel dies.
So glad you are back. Such good content. Can’t wait for the videos on the 7mm-08!
vertical effect of wind. do you even know how much effect it has at 100 yards?

So I bought honardy 6mm arc ammunition black and match ammo it doesn’t showing for bolt action or Semiautomatic 😢😢😢
All factory ammo is gas gun safe

Good video! I had amazing results with Sw precision rifle powder. With the Nosler Custom Comption 107gr. I was running it in a gas gun .
Look for some Duramag 10rd mags. I can seat
Also, not sure if you’ve gotten your hands on any Hornady 105 bthp, but my gun doesn’t like them so if you’d like to try them I’d be happy to toss them your way.
My 6 arc loves 95gr SST, did best with Shooters World Match but seems to do pretty good with other powders also
Of he three scorpions I have ever seen, theyve all been in my kitchen!
Use a dryer sheet to get rid of static on plastic items
Try some Leverevolution. It works great in my 6ARC bolt gun
I’ve used StaBall Match 28.5 w/ 105 HPBT with mediocre results. Best use is either CFE223 or Leverevolution.
Great video!
I am really close to buying a 6ARC. I am trying to decide between a gas and bolt gun.
Man go with a gas so much fun! I just did a lot of load development on my channel for the 6mm arc. You can compare his bolt versus my gas gun
I have a gas and would like to build a custom bolt as well
@@jdrollason to take advantage of the bolt gun data it’s huge to have at least 22” barrel
@@ReloadingQuest agreed. My 18" Spade Dynamics barrel shoots factory at the same velocity as the 20" barrels I have tested.

Is it just an urban legend that the chrono will affect barrel harmonics and shouldn’t be used to test group sizes?
Hard to know for sure. It will have some kind of effect but good or bad who knows
👍👍👍👏
