DoaFP was the worst rape of a good Comic Book I ever saw! The things they changed made no sense and Bryan Singer said some really stupid stuff in his Interview about this Movie!
I do agree that the movie can't touch the comic story, but I did still really like the movie. As for Singer...that dude is a mess of issues. Lots of problems with him.
Agreed lol Bryan Singer is just omL but we do gotta acknowledge that a lot of actually passionate people were working to offset the silly things he was doing wrong in a lot of these movies, not enough to make them good adaptations, but enough to make it a fun alt multiverse story😹(aka KevinFigie & KeHueQuan)
Anywho lol on a much less controversial note😅ummm 36:39 ^why can’t this mean that Deadpool then happens in 2004/3? It would line up with Logan’s quote of no new mutants have been found* (not born), since 2004. & would also give the young 2nd-class/2nd-gen/darkphoenix-team a bit more time to age into their 2023 older looking versions. Not to mention it would even poetically have it so that the New Mutants get introduced after the last time we chronologically get to see the young actors playing the young versions of the 2nd-class/2nd-gen/darkphoenix team Plus that way it wouldn’t cut in-between Deadpool 1 & 2 as well, less important but still^ {Also Deadpool having died even earlier in Cable’s 1st future (say maybe in 2030) doesn’t change the fact that Cable can still say he is very much dead 50 years from 2016 or 2003 cuz either way even if Cable hasn’t lived to see past 2054 he can safely assume that if Deadpool for sure died in say 2030, he’s would most likely still be dead by then}
@@SaveDareDevil-MxI'd be okay with that timeline. It's kinda hard to explain why Deadpool 1 is happening 14 years prior to it being released when nothing in the movie seems to indicate that, but then again, the entire timeline is confusing. So I'd be down with that placement...i mean, why not...it seems to fit. Good suggestion!
35:58 - 2054 works fine imo. Deadpool's comment about 50 years in the future seems like he chose a random large number and Cable merely played on that number. If Deadpool dies, let's say in 10 years, Cable's response -"50 years from now you're very dead." - still makes perfect sense.
Now that's a great point! Okay, maybe I do like 2054. I've honestly never seen anywhere else using that date, so it's cool we've found the real answer after all this time!
@@AbitofEverything4U I've never seen this before either. And the fact that it was cut out from the movie still makes me want to be careful not to fall into assumptions. But I guess it's the best we've got as of now.
@@AbitofEverything4Uohhh nvm someone already brought this up & u answered lol🙏Feel free to disregard my comment or update us on ur thoughts about it all given the new points i brought up to how it actually helps to maybe place deadpool in 2003😹
Awesome that you included Legion and The Gifted on the timeline breakdown, they both normally get snubbed anytime someone discusses the Fox X-Men franchise
I was SOOOOO happy to finally see Polaris, I forgive everything about the show tbh. And Legion is just really good, I can’t believe it wasn’t more popular but I think having it on an obscure channel didn’t help
6:54-Yeah, X-Men Origins: Wolverine causes multiple issues, but there ARE 3 slight possibilities: 1. Beast had managed to make an updated version of the serum to allow him to walk 2. The Professor X that Young Cyclops sees is an astral projection 3. There have been a handful of times in the 60s comics where Xavier was able to use metal braces on his legs to allow him to walk (60s comic logic)
Those are some good ways to solve it. I definitely think we can find an answer that works for Wolverine Origins and also explains how he was walking in the 1986 flashback in Last Stand.
I really like your explanation about the stones being different in different universes therefore different rules. It's like a cop out that is backed by the rules of the series.
Yeah, it feels like that infinity stone solution could work. I'd love it if Marvel gives us an official answer. ig another possibility is that the means of time travel make it work differently. So the Avengers used the quantum realm, but perhaps Cable's device uses a different means and thus doesn't create a branch.
About Blink; in the comics, she’s Bahamian. AKA Caribbean Black. Only in The Gifted and Days of Future Past is she depicted as East Asian. So that is also a suggestion that it takes place in the same timeline.
Honestly, having both Warbird and Blink in both The Gifted and Days of Future Past dealing with the increasing threat of the Sentinel program adds a lot of history to the Future Past versions of those characters. Even if that's the only time we see those actors together.
I also think strykers mystique eyes are that (if we assume she somehow knows that strikers the one who experiments on logan with adamantium) shes there to pose as stryker to claim logan, that way when mystique leaves theyll end up giving his body to the real stryker who will realize he has an opportunity to experiment and thus shes ensuring logan ends up in the hands to end up metal as he should be, kind of like staying 2 moves ahead playing chess making sure the military knows stryker wants that mutant and thus making sure logan lands right in the real strykers lap
Great job, as always! Thank you for this early access as well. It's awesome to have them a bit earlier than usual! Speaking of the video itself, I think it all fits very well, so I don't have much to add. The thing I wanted to talk about is that passing comment that you made at around 22:00 on your theory of different Infinity Stones with different rules for different universes. As we said time and time again under many other videos, I totally agree, and I think I might have a new small piece of evidence to confirm it: every time a new universe is created, the six Singularities "break", so they cannot be reused to create a new one! This requires a comprehensive explanation, so sorry in advance for the long comment. You should be used to it by now haha! Right this morning I was rereading the first chapter of the timeline book, about the distant past, and from both that, the Collector explanation in GotG, and the opening of the Eternals movie it's pretty clear that, when a new universe is created, the exact sequence of events is: 1) a Celestial, who for the MCU is Arishem, creates the "first sun", which I believe is a poetic way to reference the Big Bang (it cannot be the actual Sun, because both the timeline book and the opening crawl of Eternals place this "first sun" before the Infinity Stones and the universe itself are even created) 2) from the Big Bang, the six Singularities are created (again, both the opening crawl and the timeline book agree on this point) 3) the universe sparks into existence (as the Collector said in the GotG movie, which is also referenced in the timeline book) 4) the "remnants" of the Singularities after the creation are then forged into "concentrated ingots", aka the Infinity Stones (confirmed again by the Collector and the timeline book). From this sequence, there are two important observations that can be immediately made: A) In order to create the Singularities, and therefore the universe, a Big Bang is needed, and the Big Bang is caused by the actions of a Celestial. This means that every time a Celestial causes a Big Bang, a new set of Singularities is formed. B) (And this is the important one!) After the universe is created, the Singularities seemingly break (I believe that it's likely this breaking of the Singularities that releases the energy needed to actually create the universe), and their "remnants" (to quote the exact word used by the Collector) are what's later reforged into the Infinity Stones. This implies that, after the universe is created, the Singularities are now shattered, making them unusable for a second universe. But we also know that there isn't just one Celestial out there. There's many of them, and new ones are still being born to this day (Tiamut is the best example that we know of). And if all of these Celestials each causes its own Big Bang, then this will cause multiple sets of Singularities to be formed. Then each set of Singularities breaks, therefore creating multiple universes, each with its own set of Infinity Stones, just as you theorized. QED. Theory confirmed haha! Plus, this also naturally explains how is it possible that different sets of Infinity Stones can have different rules: the timeline book says, quote: "[The Celestials] use their ability to manipulate matter and energy to construct suns that make life possible on other worlds" (page 12). The creation of the Big Bang is a direct result of the Celestials' ability to manipulate matter and energy, but it's never explicitely said that there's only one way of doing it. The Celestials are a sentient race, and each Celestial might put their own spin in this process. In other words, this "manipulation" process is not something mechanical that happens every time in the exact same way. It has to be done intentionally by a Celestial, a sentient being who has its own will and desires. This means that they have agency over how the process is conducted, and thus over its outcomes. Probably Arishem likes time travel to work as Hulk explained, and so he manipulated matter and energy so that it works that way, but maybe the Fox Universe was created by a different Celestial, who instead prefers time travel to work in a more Back to the Future kind of way. Both are possible, and it only depends on the specific way in which each Celestial likes to manipulate matter to create its own Big Bangs. What do you think?
Wow! I love it! I agree, that's a very good way to describe the creation of each universe and in particular, why the infinity stones can form differently each time a new universe is formed. You summed it up really well when you said it depends on the specific way each Celestial manipulates the matter to create its own Big Bang. What a great breakdown the technical reasons for the unique versions of the infinity stones for each alternate universe. Bravo!
40:36 I think the main thing with Logan is that it originally was going to be its own universe because of the giant implications (no more mutants being born after 2004). By the time they started finishing the script for the movie with the continuity, Fox and Mangold probably realized how good the film was. They also knew they could get a X-23 spin-off out of it and such so it became canon to the revised timeline. Hugh was probably right at some point.
Right! I think it was going to be its own thing and thus Jackman's quote was accurate when he said it, but then they decided to tie it in more closely to the X-Men timeline(s) and then to even have New Mutants use the footage in their movie. So it went from no connections to a massive number of connections. Wild stuff!
Thats probably one of the reasons they pivoted so hard into the multiverse, getting X23 in asap is a great move since it leads to a better New Mutants movie/show
Just got into the X-Men movies and series a few weeks ago (after I finished every main MCU project). This really helped me to watch them in the sort of right order and connect all the dots. Thank you!😇
20:08-X-Men: Apocalypse kind of fixes this a little bit, in that movie she is rescuing mutants and then once they are safe, leaves to look for more. I think it's plausible that she finds Wolverine in 1973, saves his life and then parts ways later down the road, and by the time we get to X-Men: Apocalypse, Logan has now been recruited by the real Stryker
The 2054 date for Cable’s future does not contradict the 50 years line, because if Cable knows Deadpool is dead 36 years in the future, he knows he would have already died 50 years in the future.
20:38-So, slight thing here, Xavier only has the "Welcome back." line to Logan in this context LOGAN: "You did it." PROFESSOR X: "Did what? Logan, don't you have a class to teach?" LOGAN: "A class...to teach?" PROFESSOR X: "History." LOGAN: "History? Actually, I could use some help with that." PROFESSOR X: "Help with what?" LOGAN: "Pretty much everything after 1973. I think the history I know is...a little different." PROFESSOR X: "Welcome back." LOGAN: "It's good to see you again, Charles. It's good to see everyone." PROFESSOR X: "Well, I had a promise to keep. You and I have a lot of catching up to do." LOGAN: "Yeah." PROFESSOR X: "What's the last thing you remember?" LOGAN: "Drowning." So, by Logan bringing up 1973, that's him realizing.
ig for me it seemed like it was Charles realizing Logan's mind had snapped back into his 2023 body in the new timeline. Charles said his line right after Logan realized everything since 1973 seemed different. So it was Logan's original 2023 mind snapping back into his new 2023 body and Charles understood what that meant. But I agree that Charles' line isn't super clear.
@@AbitofEverything4UI personally take it as Charles remembering when Logan came to him in the “new” past and realizing Logan FINALLY remembered, due to his mind coming back to the new 2023. He’s basically welcoming an old friend, who he’s been friends with for years. Even longer than Logan knew, prior to his mind coming back.
@@yukikid2195 I could see that being the explanation. And perhaps Charles then read Wolverine's mind and that's what allowed him to be able to discuss the original timeline during the Logan movie.
Charles could be in Cerebro chilling while making everyone see him walking around, or go somewhere with Eric, or appear in front of Raven at the airport, or control an helicopter pilot and make you think its himself. He could even transfer his consciousness to another body (not necessarily his twin's) and make you see him as you remembered him🤷🏽♂️
@@AbitofEverything4ULogical solutions. We talking about the most powerful telepath. Sometimes I feel like folks don't even realise what he is capable of, even if it's shown. In DOFP, he uses Cerebro to appear in front of Raven at the airport, standing, but then y'all question why he is standing at the end of Wolverine origins.... I mean...🤦🏽♂️
I don't take Xaviers "Welcome back" as him seeing the original timeline too I see it as when they were in the 70s he knew that Wolverines consciousness was from the future (our present) and so when that whole crisis/event ended he and the past consciousness of wolverine have lived the 50 years up to now, while wolverines present consciousness just blinked right back to the present so I see his welcome back as more of a "welcome back present consciousness that i havent spoken to in 50 years" hes smart enough to know "this mustve been the day he was sent back to set us on this path and so hes (mentally) back from that journey to the 70s and thus he says welcome back to a friend he hasnt seen in 50 years, as far as his references to the original timeline in logan, I think anything he knows of the original timeline would have 100% come from him reading/viewing logans memories post logans wake up, as i just dont feel it makes sense for Charles to Magically have the memories of a future self that never ends up happening, i will however say maybe in his weakened semi dimentia state in logan hes recalling visions he once read in logans head post DOFP or is even accidentally reading logans memories in those moments presently like the statue of liberty moment
I like your explanation. I agree, it makes more sense for Xavier to have read Logan's mind to learn about that earlier timeline. I do in fact mention how Xavier talks about the previous timeline when he was experiencing his dementia. I thought that was a really cool touch!
The line Xavier has about, “they need you at the Statue of Liberty” actually has a double-meaning! Logan immediately writes it off as, “no, you’re just thinking about that time in 2003, take your meds and go to sleep.” (Side-note: maybe an alternate version of the original trilogy movies still happened in this timeline, and we never got to see it?) But also… the sign of the motel where X-23 and the nurse are hiding at the time features… that’s right, the Statue of Liberty on it!
This is really good expcept you're missing a few Deadpool projects. 9 Deadpool shorts, Once Upon a Deadpool, and The 'Pool Log. 1. How Deadpool Spent Halloween 2. The 'Pool Log 3. Deadpool's Empire Magazine Infomercial 4. Deadpool: Touch Yourself Tonight 5. Deadpool: Touch Yourself Tonight; For Her 6.Deadpool: Cat'astrophe Averted 7. Deadpool: No Good Deed 8. Deadpool: Wet on Wet 9. Deadpool 2: Eur Missing a Country 10. Deadpool 2: Don't Skimp on the Powder 11. Once Upon a Deadpool
@@AbitofEverything4U All the ones I named are canon. The only ones that can't be considered canon are the ones that take place in real world which is why a few shorts are left out. They wouldn't be canon if they were just posted on the Ryan Reynolds youtube channel but they're also posted on the OFFICIAL 20th century fox youtube channel. Also Deadpool: No Good Deed was played before Logan in theaters and Once Upon a Deadpool is a direct sequel to Deadpool 2.
41:13 Xavier: "[The Spider-Men] are waiting for you at the Statue of Liberty." Logan: "The Statue of Liberty was a long time ag- wait, who the hell are the Spider-Men?!"
Something I've just come to accept with these movies is relative canonicity. As it progress we are just seeing a possible outcome of the events of a past movie. With Future Past and Logan for example, the discrepancy between Jackman and Mangold can be explained by thinking that Future Past is canon to Logan, but Logan is not canon to Future Past. It's how I've kinda reconciled the 616 fiasco as well. Theyre two seperate multiverse in which the MCU is in the comics multiverse but the comics are not in the MCU's multiverse, so they can both be 616
That's certainly one way to make it work. In the end, I think each person's own viewing order should be the one that brings them them most enjoyment. So your suggestions work great if that's how you view the timeline as occurring. As for Jackman vs. Mangold, my guess is that at one point Logan was going to be disconnected and thus Jackman gave that quote. But over time Mangold seems to have changed his mind, because it sure appears like he wanted to connect the movie back to the other timelines. It's all pretty wild stuff. That timeline is about as messy as they come, but at least the movies were awesome...well, most of them. : )
Perfect timing as always. Just about to start watching the Men films in preparation for Deadpool and Wolverine. This will surely help me with watching in order.
I was just searching for this video two days ago and now it's here! It isn't the first time that a video that I needed has been uploaded to your channel some days later haha. I love this channel so much
That's so cool! I was hoping it would be the right timing for a video like this. I've been re-watching the movies with my son in prep for Deadpool 3, so it was perfect timing for me as well!
11:54-Yes, his twin brother, it was confirmed in the commentary for X-Men: The Last Stand, I believe they talk about it either right before or during the post credit scene
@@AbitofEverything4U Oh, absolutely, and it also adds a different angle to his teaching scene earlier where he brings up video of Moira and a very similar scenario, asking if there was a married father of 4, would it be morally correct to place his consciousness into this man, who had a perfectly healthy body, but was basically braindead.
@@AbitofEverything4Ualso raises the question was the twin brother crippled also? And also how does he still have his powers, if he put his mind into someone else’s body, wouldn’t that body not have the same mutation?
Hey, I just stumbled upon your channel while researching to create my own timeline. I am planning to create an stylized timeline whith all the paths and loops and stuff. Your sheet with all the movies is exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much for the work, its amazing!!
Thanks so much for the positive feedback on the vid. Yeah, I really like the timeline laid out like this. It just makes sense to me that way. Thx again!
It was alot of fun to put together. Many, many different opinions on how the timeline should look, so I tried to give some credit to all the different theories out there.
We really need that, the timelines are so confusing. I already watched multible videos explaining it, yours is the longest, most detailed and most comprehensible!
Hey I'd like to point out in days of future past Hank says he takes enough serum to keep his powers balanced, meaning his intelligence stays but his feet go. But he says charles uses too much to block out the voices. So if he also stayed balanced like Hank, he could theoretically use his powers and walk. BTW I can't wait to get to the legion portion. I just started watching it.
I love this channel and really appreciate the effort you put. So many marvel geeks out there, but not many do (try) to tie things together and explain what’s going in with that level of attention to details. Keep it up man, already my favorite channel ✌🏼

Just wanted to put this out there for X-Men Origins: Wolverine; For the end when Professor-X shows up, my head cannon has been that in that moment he is an apparition or psychic projection. We know he can do this, we've seen him do it before. And since he was presumably off this medication in 1979, this works easily. I even rewatched this exact scene to make this assertion and he never physcially interacts with anyone. So I think this works, let me know what you think! I just saw that other people have also considered this in the comments, but I wanted to still add it here.
Awesome vid, man. Gotta admit, I didn't really like your videos at first, but I've been growing into it, to the point that I don't miss a single one lol Keep it up!
Thanks so much for the positive feedback. Glad to hear the vids have grown on you over time. Yeah, my vids are definitely not as flashy as many of the larger YT-ers and likely don't seem as interesting to new viewers, just like it was for you as well. If you have any suggestions for improvements, let me know as I'm always open to feedback. Thx again!
something to mention is that Polaris actually appears in X-Men: Days of Future Past (The Rogue Cut) she also appears in the normal cut but not for as long and Scarlet Witch gets mentioned
Great point! Yeah, I really hope we get to see Polaris when the X-Men get rebooted in the MCU. And it would be so nice to see the Scarlet Witch hanging out with the X-Men as well.

That's a cool idea. I'd be down with the Deadpool movies happening earlier in the timeline. The X-Verse has such a crazy timeline and it feels like a bowl of spaghetti at times, so there are likely many ways to straighten out the spaghetti. Hmmm...now I'm hungry for spaghetti.

Man. You really put in the work on this one. Really great video dude. Totally agree with your take. Everything you said makes perfect sense and clearly cleans up the whole mess. I can now sit down with my Son and watch it in the right order so it'll all make sense to him. Thank you.
Wow...thanks for the positive feedback on the vid. Yeah, I can say first hand that I've been watching the movies with my son in this order (first time viewing for him) and he's really enjoyed it. Hope you have a great time with your son!
Great video as always sir! However, I would argue that the 'not-too distant future' captions are more in reference to the previous scene shown, which in both cases were scenes set in 'the past' (1940s in the first X-Men, and 1996 in The Last Stand)
@@AbitofEverything4U I absolutely can't get enough of timelines, and yours are so well crafted and thought out! Really gives me hope that the nerds prevail. What would you say in response to Xavier saying that "Scott and Jean were among [his] first students" if they joined the X-Men seven years apart (in the original timeline)?
Great job with the timeline! I am trying to map it out myself and noticed the Red Hook easter egg and was going to include it after Dark Phoenix, but since I've only seen Season 1 it's good to know Charles' timeline doesn't add up with the Original or Revised Timelines. Speaking of Charles, the rest of Beast's quote about Charles taking the serum is interesting. He says that Charles takes too much. So if he was at a proper dosage, he could have his powers (probably not the full extent) and walk. So after 1973 in the Original Timeline, he probably realized he needed to cut back and that led to what we saw in Origins and The Last Stand. And then sometime before the first movie he realizes the benefit and need of having full use of his powers and gives up his legs. In 2023 (Original Timeline), Charles says he was a very different man in the 1970s, so he obviously had a lot of natural character growth since then. When you were talking about Dark Phoenix's ending, I thought of a quote I think was said by Simon Kinberg. Basically that a direct sequel would've tied up all the loose ends to explain how Jean was at the end of Days of Future Past. One of the many plans for Dark Phoenix that never happened, but would've done so much good for the timeline. One thing I disagree with is how time travel works. I agree that the Infinity Stones are different in each Parallel Universe like you said. However, I still believe the Fox X-Men Universe branches. In Days of Future Past's ending, the characters all just disappear and seemingly relocate, indicating a shift. Well, that's not really evidence, as that could be visual for both branching and erasing. The real stinger is one you (no offense) looked over. If the Original Timeline is truly erased, how did Deadpool (in Deadpool 2) go back and kill Weapon XI from Origins? That obviously didn't happen in the Revised Timeline, so he must've traveled through branches (like the Avengers did to get back from the branches they made to their original timeline) to get to Origins and back. Just something to point out there. Overall, great job on the video! You gave me some great new perspectives, especially with Legion and The New Mutants' placements. Keep up the good work! 👍
Awesome feedback! I like your suggestion for solving the Charles issue. And that's cool to hear that about them wanting to resolve the Dark Phoenix storyline. Bummer we never got that movie. As for the time travel, yeah, you do have to wonder about how Deadpool jumped into that timeline if it had been erased, but in a way we know he didn't go into the original movie's timeline or it would have altered the earlier movie. So I assume maybe he went to a different version of the timeline to kill that deadpool? So confusing, tbh, but also such a great gag! But anyway, loved your feedback. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the vid!
@@AbitofEverything4U Thanks! And thanks for reading it all lol; you're the best! So sad we didn't get to see the Dark Phoenix sequel or the rest of the New Mutants trilogy. They could've done so much for the franchise! At least in concept; they were slacking a bit on execution. And yeah, I'd imagine if both timelines exist and we make the Revised Timeline a branch (and really DP2 a branch of that branch lol), then traveling back to Origins and killing Weapon XI would also create a branch. So confusing like you said, but it kinda works lol. Maybe they'll address some of that confusion in Deadpool & Wolverine, I don't know. Thanks again for responding, as always! Keep up the good videos! 👍
I would soooooo love it if they try to explain the timelines and potential branching from DOFP and DP 2 during the DP&W movie. You would year me shouting for joy in that case!
Yeah, it sure is a tricky timeline. But I do think it fits together fairly well, with only a few bumps in the road here and there. My son and I are watching the movies in timeline order (his first viewing) and he's enjoyed it alot.
Yeah, I have definitely found that no matter how hard we try, the X-Men timeline is impossible to fix in a way that addresses all of the issues. That said, we could just say that Bye Bye Bye came out at a different point in time in the X-Men universe if the 94 placement works better. Things like a song debuting are helpful timeline hints, but don't always end up being definitive. In fact, you might find this video interesting, as it gives some great reasons to put X2 in 1994: ruclips.net/video/_n4jsKkLAgc/видео.html.
12:31 What I like to think is that he projected how he looks into peoples minds like how Jean made her self look like an old man in Dark Phoenix. I don't if that's right but that's what makes sense to me lol
36:05 I think Cable saying "50 years from now, you're very dead" can indicate that Deadpool died before that time, so Cable is sure that he is "very dead" later on. If Deadpool dies in 2030 for example, he is still dead in 2068 as well. I don't think the dialog means Cable has to be from 2068 necessarily.
Looking forward to watching this! Wanted to let you know that as of today (I think), X-Men '97 has been added to the MCU Multiverse Saga part of the Marvel heading on Disney+. It's not in the complete timeline so it seems they're cementing X-Men '97 as not Sacred Timeline but definitely as part of the multiverse. Eager to see how the two universes will interact.
Great catch! I immediately tweeted and posted on that. Thanks for noticing it and letting me know. I don't look at that section often enough. Very cool!
Hey do you recommend watching logan before deadpool 2? Since in deadpool 2 literally right at the beginning wade spoils something that happens in the future aka logan and might surprise a new viewer.
I just finished watching The Gifted, now I finally can watch the corresponding part of this video. Did you ever do a more detailed video about the show by any chance?
That’s a good idea… I should consider doing a full breakdown of the show. All I’ve done so far is look for the timeline hins and the connections to the larger X-Men timeline. But the show itself was really good and has lots of Easter eggs and other topics to discuss. Excellent suggestion!
Re: The “Stryker” at the end of DoFP, I think it’s explained well in the following movie. In Apocalypse, after she saves Nightcrawler, Mystique doesn’t seem interested in anything beyond that, to paraphrase her, “I saved his life, what he does with it is up to him.” So to me, she impersonated Stryker to pull Logan out of the river, saving him, but then once he was out, she just let him leave on his own. At some point later, Stryker and Weapon X still got their hands on him, a story we’ll likely never get, but it would have happened at some point after early ‘73.
My headcanon for the Xavier walking and using his powers in flashbacks +Origins but only powers in the not so distant future is A: Hank figured something out with the serum to allow for some power use(remember it was originally made to help *control* his own mutation) and B: Charles eventually built up a resistance/immunity to the serum before the events of the original trilogy
This is also my explanation for why Logan didn't just have him taking the version of the serum that suppressed his powers(aside from the obvious implication that Beast is probably dead)
Great question. I'd suggest: X-Men: First Class X-Men Origins: Wolverine Legion, S1-3 (note that this is a separate timeline) X-Men X2: X-Men United X-Men: Last Stand The Wolverine The Gifted, S1-2 X-Men: Days of Future Past X-Men: Apocalypse X-Men: Dark Phoenix Deadpool New Mutants Logan Deadpool 2
Great answer from @__Soya__. I like the idea of it being an in-universe movie. Also, it may have been on a different branch of the X-Men universe as Deadpool was jumping all over the place.
Man really great video. I really loved all the great insight. But before I get into the video itself I want to touch on my thoughts on this being an early release for members. Obviously I missed the early access lol, but even as a member, I really dont think these videos should be given early access to us. When a video is done, I personally believe that everyone should be free to enjoy your content all at the same time. I'm not a big fan of a temporary paywall behind some of your videos. But thats just my 2 cents, im sure other members may feel differently. 1. WOW. You know everyone gives this timeline a hard time (frankly because it's trash, incredibly confusing and full of plot holes) but man I never realized how they had so so many real world connections. This franchise that struggles more with continuity is doing better at relating to the real world then the mcu is now. Thats awesome I'm really glad you touched on that. 2. I was really surprised to hear all the connections in Logan. And while I personally dont believe it I think theres a really strong case to be made that it's actually in the original timeline not the revised one. After all couldn't another name for the program wolverine was in, in the original timeline just be weapon X, and the dude who's dad died was at the power plant? Doesn't matter too much but with all the references to the original timeline and barely one for the new timeline it makes me wonder. 3. Cmon dude, Red Hook being a town that exists (even if its his incident and not the one in dark phoenix), saying "Legion is a part of the X-Men universe" and very frank "Yes, its connected" by the show runner and you still dont think its canon? You choose the one quote that says it's not canon, by Loeb? you minds well choose the Gifted quote that says "its its own universe" at that point lol. There's way more evidence suggesting it is then isnt imo. Plus theres no reason that Professor X couldn't do all that off screen right? I mean again come on the dude infamous for being in a wheelchair can get up and walk around, die and come back but he can't have a kid and join the military off screen? Again I wanna be clear this isnt hate, totally love you dude. and totally respect your beliefs. Just find it personally really odd that you go "heres all the reasons its canon, even with the show runner saying it is" after going "heres how to explain all these plot holes in this whole universe" and then you go "oh this has a plot hole I can't even try to fit it in, and we gotta go by this one specific quote saying its not canon" Love you, love your stuff just found it really odd.
Great feedback on whether I should do early releases. Yeah to your point, I won't do it on all of vids, but I may do it on a few here and there. So your comments on it were very helpful. 1. I agree...it's really cool just how many real world events the X-Men films reference. 2. Logan is so darn hard to place. I think I like it better in the revised timeline, but you make some good points for it being in the original timeline. 3. The main reason I was saying Legion wasn't part of the X-Men timeline is that Xavier was a child living at home during WWII in X-Men: First Class, but was an adult fighting in WWII in Legion. So their storylines are very different. Plus, I haven't found any quotes from the creatives regarding Legion being canon to the main timeline and instead found that everyone said it isn't. The other questionable entries (New Mutants, Deadpool, Logan, and The Gifted) all had a mix of quotes. Some said they were canon and others said they weren't. But in all cases Legion was said to be it's own thing. So that's why I put it outside the timeline, fwiw. Thanks as always for the awesome feedback!
@@AbitofEverything4U thanks for the clarification on legion, I apologize if that came off kinda rude. That makes much more sense and I must’ve misunderstood what you meant. But didn’t you show quotes of the creators saying it’s connected but they won’t go into any detail of how? I might be mistaken there though. Xavier being a kid in ww2 vs fighting in it, is a big change that makes a lot more sense and even with the iffy continuity that’s a pretty dang bad mess up if it’s connected. Definitely a good reason to think it’s not.
Oh, right...there was a confusing quote where they implied it's connected but wouldn't say how. I kinda disqualified that one, since it was pretty wishy-washy. I wish the creative teams were more clear when they speak to reporters!
16:00 - the part obfuscated here is that chronologically, this pitch came first: let's do a story before Days of Future Past; then came the reality of writing and production, where they concluded (14:32) they are doing their own thing. If someone wants to make these fit, they are free to, but IMO the intention of the creators is clear and these are two separate timelines. One apparent contradiction seems to be that in the Gifted the mutants were widely known to the public [apparently] earlier than in the movies. But I would have to rewatch the movies to make sure whether anything is really inconvenienced by this.
Ooops, sorry for not including the dates for those quotes. Honestly, Nix was all over the place with his quotes: The Cinemablend story is here: www.cinemablend.com/television/1683930/where-the-gifted-fits-into-the-x-men-universe and is dated July 21, 2017 The cbr.com story is here: comicbook.com/marvel/news/the-gifted-showrunner-matt-nix-interview-opens-up-about-the-not-being-allowed-say-wolverine-magneto-x-men/ and is dated August 21, 2021. So it seems he gave the quote about The Gifted being part of the original timeline after he gave the initial quote about it being its own thing. However you are right that he then gave the quote in Heroic Hollywood here: heroichollywood.com/gifted-fits-x-men-universe/ and it's dated September 29, 2017. So his quotes were honestly all over the place. Sigh.
@@AbitofEverything4U Oh, I wasn't addressing the dates of the articles/interviews, but some presumed dates for what the quotes referred to in real life. Sorry if it wasn't clear. The quote about the pitch (~let's have a story that happens in the window before DoFP) must refer to the earliest stages of conception behind the project - what they intended/hoped for in the very beginning. Therefore the other events must have come after that. After the pitch they have eventually started to write and produce the series. And at some stage of that development, whether because of the story they ended up with or other factors, they have apparently decided it is in its own timeline (the other quote about doing their own thing). In other words, the quote about the pitch doesn't really have any bearing on the conclusion they came to later on. And I'm not sure the quote by the actress should take precedence over the creators. "We could fit" is really vague anyway, as if designed to give hope to the fans who'd like this to be true.
@@AbitofEverything4U One weird thing about those interviews is that it seems like Nix changed his view on how the timelines or time travel work... In one he says the initial pitch was that his show will be erased by DoFP time travel. In the other he says DoFP established the existence of many [time]streams - as if the time travel act caused a split.
Okay, I'm following now. Although, it's weird he would bring up the story about the pitch for how to make it fit in the original timeline if he had already decided it wasn't connected at all. It's just a weird set of inconsistent interviews, tbh. Ugh. But I still like it in the original timeline myself. Nix was right that it fits really well.
Even tho i watched all the movies and generally get how they connect with each other,my friend has just watched them in order to prepare for the new deadpool and was confused so this video helped him understand better and also helped me understand too lol
Thanks for sharing that...I'm so happy to hear it helped. Yeah, it sure helped me to put everything together in a timeline like that. Can't wait to see the movie in a few short days. I think it will be an awesome tribute to all the X-Men movies!
Honestly, the two actors switching back and forth is quite confusing. In the Original timeline we saw that it was Stewart in 1979's Wolverine movie in that final scene and in the 1986 flashback when he visited Jean during the Last Stand movie. ofc, those timelines were erased, but it still showed us what he would look like in 1979 and 1986. But in the new timeline, we see McAvoy in 1982 and 1992 in the Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix movies. So ig it's not that crazy to see McAvoy again in 2018.
The Gifted fits completely. New Mutants would be set in 2026 because of Logan's file, plus Dani can only see memories, not visions of the future, that is established in the movie, another thing is that Dr. Reyes says she went to save them, maybe after the incident of the doctors releasing the children, it makes sense that they now want to experiment on the rejected teenagers. In Legion something curious is that they mention the name change of Mumbai, as you say they always use real historical events to establish the time, so I think it would be connected with the Dark Phoenix event which also occurs in the 90s. I hope you understand what I’m trying to say.
Excellent feedback. So in regards to New Mutants, are you referring to this line from Reyes: "To save you! If it wasn’t for me… you all would’ve been dead a long time ago!" I'm not sure what she's indicate here, tbh. Perhaps it is in reference to the vision Dani had. I do like the idea of the New Mutants taking place in 2026, but on the other hand, the director of the movie said they were originally planning for a trilogy, so it seems in that case it would fit better in 2017. But I really don't like the idea of Dani's visions being of the future as that seems very odd. Man, placing that movie is so frustrating. As for Legion, it looks like that name change for Mumbai was in 1995, so that's another of the many references that make placing that show so hard. My biggest issue with it being in 1995 is that it means Charles couldn't have had David until the 1960's, since there's no way that David is older than his early 30's. And that seems like a long time after WW II for Charles to have had David. But I'm very certain that the show is not tied to the main X-Men timeline as nothing about Charles backstory matches the backstory of Prof X in the X-Men timeline. Craziness. New Mutants and Legion are both so tricky.
I know I have commented before on another video: I contend that the First Class Timeline is its own thing and Shadowcat didn't send Wolverine through time but through another universe. Its the only way to explain the huge differences between the Original & Revised Timelines. The Wild Card is Deadpool "cleaning up the timelines". So the order would be: - Origins: Wolverine (which could be in its own universe) - X-Men - X2: X-Men United - (X-Men: The Game explains the gap between X2 - The Last Stand) - X-Men: The Last Stand - The Wolverine - The Future settings of DOFP - Wolverine comes back to the Happy Ending where everyone is alive which erases The Last Stand and some of X2 at least - Logan *Then we go into the First Class Verse* - First Class - Past Settings of DOFP - Apocalypse - Pheonix - Deadpool 1 - Deadpool 2 *Deadpool starts cleaning the timelines which erases Origins which could in effect erase the original timeline which causes him to be targeted by the TVA in Deadpool 3
Very creative timeline! I will admit, I used to think there were alot of huge differences between the Original & Revised Timelines, but I feel pretty good about the issues having solutions. Really, the "15 years ago" line is the only sticking point and I consider that similar to the infamous "8 years later" line in Homecoming, in that it just has to be chalked up to being wrong. So I feel alot better about the timeline in the vid than I originally did. What do you feel are the biggest issues that haven't been addressed yet? And thanks for all the great feedback. I truly appreciate it!
@@AbitofEverything4U So I feel our views on the Timeline are the most friendliest discussions that could compared to politics/religions. I consider all of the Fox Marvel Films to be in one universe. Evidence I am citing for it is The Extended Cut of the 2005 Fantastic Four keeps the Wolverine Easter Egg with Reed changing his face to resemble Hugh Jackman instead of a Heroic Chin in the original/theatrical version. Added factor of Jennifer Garner's Elektra appearing in Deadpool 3 means that the Daredevil & Elektra are at least connected to the X-Men films albeit if its in the Void. So far nothing to confirm the other Pre-MCU Marvel Films like Blade, Hulk, Ghost Rider, or Punisher. But who knows what else Deadpool 3 or Secret Wars will throw at us. In my own timeline I have I label the FOX films as FOX Marvel Universe or FMU and I have them in a What If? like category. I placed the What If episodes based when their respective MCU Film or setting would have taken place. The Phase 2 is based on the end of Loki Series and having the Multiverse start playing fast & loose with the rules. I still stand by my argument that between Wolverine & Deadpool time travelling/universe jumping they erase Origins, parts of X-2, probably all of The Last Stand, and pretty much 97% of Deadpool 2 since Vanessa lives. Your stuff is great and I find my self checking your stuff before I make a ruling on my own stuff.
Wow...great stuff! Sorry for my delayed reply, but that was really cool how you laid it all out. Love chatting about the timeline with fellow Marvel fans!
it's kinda cool that despite the timelines' inconsistencies and retcons, there's one element that stays a constant, and that is none other than Hugh Jackman's Wolverine
6:22 - Maybe one way to explain it is that Xavier doesn't exactly lose the powers, but has issues with them. Maybe they are diminished or less reliable and don't always work, so he eventually opts out of taking the treatment?
Yeah, that sure seems to be the case. Perhaps in 1973 he lost his powers completely (i.e. during the DOFP movie), but by 1979 and X-Men Origins Wolverine movie he had gained them back to some extent. I think it can work.
Thank you very much for such a detailed review! I remember so many people referenced Logan as a separate universe at the time of the theatre release and glad to see a picture where it fits pretty much exactly in the post-futurepast timeline as I thought. Also, can Legion be a prequel to X-Men 97? I haven't really watched both shows but it would be fun if there are any connections, even head-canon ones.
Thanks for the positive feedback on the vid. I agree, I like the idea of Logan fitting into the overall timeline. And that's a good question about Legion. I need to rewatch the X-Men Animated Series episodes that dealt with the Shadow King, as he was also a villain in Legion. So I'd have to see if there any discrepancies or not.
Given how in Logan, Wolverine has the samurai sword, and the flashback in the beginning of the Wolverine is set in 1945 (before trasks assassination was prevented) means that, the opening scene still happened in the new timeline, tells me that at least a version of the Wolverine happened in the new timeline. Heavily altered sure, but at least a version.
How hard would it have been to say Charles was puppeting his own legs with his powers? They literally have both versions of Jean do it to him. 😭 He could’ve stopped doing it because he realized he was living a lie or something dumb.
Interesting suggestion. I agree...that would have worked. I do wish they had tied things together in a cleaner fashion, but I give them credit for at least acknowledging the issue and giving it an attempt at fixing it.
It’s because Charles only has Telepathy. Jean grey has Telepathy (mind control) and Telekinesis (ability to manipulate objects with mind). Charles can only read and control minds. Since he isn’t a Telekinetic he can manipulate objects or his own body like you suggest
21:49 Haven't seen Loki in a fair bit, but I thought that they stated that just time works differently, and it's got nothing to do with the stones. Just different realities have different rules. I mean both theories are practically the same thing I just thought that this was confirmed but I could be wrong. Anyway good, good video I need this to watch me Deadpool & Wolverine in like a week lol
Good point! Yeah, in Loki they definitely implied that time just works differently, so the explanation may be as simple as that. But I do kinda like tying it back to the infinity stones since they control how a universe functions. Just a theory on my part though. Thanks so much for watching the vid and sharing your feedback. Glad it helped you prepare for DP&W. Gonna be such a good movie!
Doesn’t the Wolverine take place shortly after The Last Stand? I haven’t seen the movie in years but I thought Logan was morning the loss of Jean in the beginning of the movie. Feels like it’s a few years later at most.
Great question. So it's interesting that it was Wolverine telling Scott he should move on after X-Men United, but then it was Wolverine who couldn't move on after X-Men Last Stand. I think the difference is that Logan had to kill Jean himself in Last Stand, so that was even more painful for him. And so it may be that even years later he still has nightmares about having to kill her. The reason I think The Wolverine fits better closer to DOFP is because Magneto and Xavier call on Wolverine to join them and Magento says "There are dark forces, Wolverine. Human forces, building a weapon that could bring about the end of our kind". It seems that if the movie were closer to Last Stand (i.e. 2007-2008 timeframe) then it would be a really large gap between the time he's recruited to the time that DOFP occurs in 2023. If The Gifted is truly part of the original timeline, then it fits very well to have the movie in 2013. In The Gifted, the X-Men are "absent" during the timeframe of 2017-2018. So if The Wolverine is 2013, with the epilogue in 2015, it makes sense that the X-Men are "absent" in 2017 as they are likely on secretive missions to find out what's happening with the Sentinels. Anyway, all just guesses on my part since The Wolverine doesn't give us any solid clues, but it just feels like it fits better if it's later in the timeline (i.e. 2013) and that Logan is still traumatized by having to kill Jean several years back. Thoughts?
11:56 WHAT??? Nooo...Ya don't say. The X-Men films are like one of the most carefully crafted well thought out consistent series of events ever. Nah but seriously good on you for trying to untangle this mess. I hadn't seen a good chunk of these films since I was a kid and am catching up for Deadpool and Wolverine. I knew the timeline was funky but DAMN is it genuinely out of wack.
Yep, no one can accuse the X-Verse timeline of making sense. It truly is a bowl of spaghetti. Deadpool summed it up best in his first movie: "These timelines are so confusing!". But at least we got some really good stories along the way. Enjoy your rewatch!
Great question...no spoilers for DP 3. I do mention when something from an earlier movie might get referenced in DP 3, but that's more my theory than anything based on the trailer. So the vid should be safe to watch. That's cool that you avoid the trailers. Definitely makes the movie a big surprise when you see it!
This is most excellent! Very well thought out and researched. I'm curious, though, if you include The Gifted in the official timeline, where do you think the X-Men are during this time?? I don't know if they ever explained it in the show. Also, is it possible that Xavier just "mentally projects" himself as walking in X3 & Origins? Perhaps to take away the perceived stigma of being in a wheelchair?
I've always wondered where the writers of The Gifted assume the X-Men are. I suspect if we'd have gotten a third season, then alot more would have been explained. Really a bummer it got cancelled. And that's a great theory about Xavier mentally projecting himself as walking in X3 and Origins. I think that works really well!
I have a question why do you think collusus in X-Men 2 and last stand looks completely different and sounds different than he did in the Deadpool movies
Honestly, that has always confused me. I don't know why they didn't use that actor from the original timeline (i.e. the OG trilogy and DoFP). Perhaps they decided they wanted a more Russian sounding Colossus? I assume it's meant to be the same character, just played by different actors and looking abit different (kinda like recasting Bruce Banner after the Incredible Hulk movie, for instance). Just my theories though. It is very strange.
Something also to consider that I just mulled over now, I think X-Men (2000) through Origins contain no continuity errors. Similarly First Class through to Phoenix also contain no major continuity errors. Looking at it this way it seems pretty clear that First Class was indeed a soft reboot as originally touted, only referencing a version of the original Trilogy and Origins, but not their exact same continuity.
Good feedback! I do think the original movies (X-Men thru Origins) had a few continuity issues, such as the 15 years statement with Wolverine that is so hard to reconcile with the original trilogy happening later in the timeline. Granted, First Class made the situation worse with the fact that Xavier was paralized in 1962 but was walking during Origins in 1979. But I think that DOFP came up with the fix for that (i.e. the treatment Xavier was taking), so thus it was trying to fix that earlier issue. So I do like having DOFP connect the two timelines. But if you feel First Class was a reboot, I think that's a perfectly fine answer as well, since the timelines are pretty wonky and it's hard to find a definitive answer to address everything. Thanks for watching the vid and sharing your thoughts. Really appreciate it!
Nice timeline analysis. Regards to Wolverine's "15 years" plot hole, I assumed that they were referring to event that happened sometime after X-Men Origins and before X-Men 1, not the event of Origins. Origins movie was meant to be a series of origin movies of characters, where there were plans for Magneto, Professor X, Gambit, etc. so it's possible that Wolverine met Stryker again sometime after Origins (even though, he should technically be court martialed), which could have took place in 1988, for another planned/potential Origin movie (maybe, X-Men Origins: Professor X).
Interesting theory about the Origins movie and the 15 years line. Yeah, I wonder if there were other plans for follow-on movies that ended up getting scrapped.
Thank you so much! I started watching The Gifted just because of this Video and I've watched only the first four Episodes so far but I'm already so hooked and excited to see where this Show is going! Omg I already this Show so much after 4 Episodes! 😮
@@AbitofEverything4UI just finished season 2! What an Incredible show! I can't believe we never got a third season after that ending. Just wow! Thanks for doing this Video without this I probably would have never watched this show cause I didn't even know about it.
@@coolerkerl8469 Awesome...so glad you enjoyed it. I agree, I'm really bummed we didn't get a season 3, but I still loved the show none-the-less. Very glad the video let you know about it so that you could watch it!
Loved the video, great timeline breakdown. You have a new fan in me. One thing I would say is Cable could be from 2053 because he tells deadpool "your very dead in 50 years" that could mean by 2053 hes already dead, so if you are counting 50 years ahead he would have been dead for a long time. Which is why he says "Very dead". Just a idea
What about Deadpool & Wolverine? I know that they ignored the events from Logan, so I imagine that since it's in the MCU, I imagine that it's in a different timeline.
I really do hope they give us a firm answer on that when the movie arrives. It seems Deadpool 3 is 5 years after Deadpool 2, based on the trailer shown at CinemaCon, so it does seem to be firmly tied to the existing X-Men timeline. But we'll learn more in a few months!
Such a good question...so with Wade, it seems about anything is possible. lol! But my guess is he actually traveled to an alternate timeline from the one that was erased. Because if he had killed Crappy Deadpool in the original timeline then it would have altered that movie's ending. So I suspect he went to a "what if" type branched timeline. But ofc with Wade you just never know what he's going to do!
I guess deadpool has special abilities like forth wall breaking. So to me i like to think of this scene only as a joke and not a serious continuity detail... Just like he went back to kill green lantern
7:22 I like to think he is weening himself off of the medication. Like Hank says, The Professor is taking too much in '73, specifically using it to blot out his powers. Maybe a lesser dose helps him manage the intrusive nature of his powers while also allowing him partial use of his legs (enough for a short gentle walk but not much more). By 2003 he is making full use of his powers and has accepted his disability.
I’d say an easier explanation for Charles being able to walk in Origins and The Last Stand is that he’s not there physically it’s just a mental projection of himself
I think the timeline changes in Days of Future past work with the Endgame rules where they create a branch timeline. within Days of Future Past although they say that it will rewrite the timeline you can ignore that and see it as a branch. The Fox Universe main/sacred timeline would be the top line in your diagram minus First Class as it really does not work with other movies in that line. X-Men Origins Wolverine, then X-Men, then X2 X-Men United, then X-Men The Last Stand, then The Wolverine, and then The Gifted. Those movies/shows are the main/sacred timeline of the Fox universe. After The Gifted, you have Days of Future Past which creates a branch timeline which is the bottom line in your diagram. X-Men First Class, then X-Men Apocolpys (No need to include Days of Future Past in the branch), then X-Men Dark Pheniox, then Deadpool 1, then The New Mutants (haven't seen it but based on the evidence in the video I say it works here), then Deadpool 2 (here we get more branch timelines. Basically every time Cables time travel device is used it creates a branch timeline), then Logan. Deadpool and Wolverine is probably a continuation of a branch timeline from Deadpoool 2., Will see if Deadpool and Wolverine adresses this. (If you’ve seen Deadpool and Wolverine please do not tell me if this is answered I do not want to be spoiled.)
I agree...I like the idea of them branching rather than re-writing time. It allows Deadpool to go into the original branch to kill the crappy deadpool.
i was looking something up about the wolverine and when i looked it up on the wiki it says Following the events of X-Men: The Last Stand witch mean prob a couple of months or so after the movie
Thanks so much for joining the discord. It sounds like Robby answered this question for you. I love the Discord as it lets us all discuss things like this as a team!
45:14 Is it possible that Legion's time travel somehow happened to X-Men: First Class? 49:04 In this part say "Legion is part of the X-Men Universe, but obviously we're our own Astral Plane, we're our own world" 49:22 ad in this part say "Yes, it's connected. No, it won't really care to tell how Might be referring to that I haven't seen the series yet and I want to see the X-Men universe in a timeline order
I'd definitely recommend checking out Legion. It's a very good series. As for how it connects to things, you make some good suggestions for how it could fit into the main X-men timeline. But once you see the series, I suspect you'll see what I mean that it doesn't really fit very well due to Xavier's backstory being so different from the one we saw in First Class, plus there are alot of other things that seem to make it different from the main timeine. So I think of Legion as a branched timeline off the main X-Men timeline. In fact, after seeing the Deadpool and Wolverine trailer, it seems they indicate that the Wolverine in that movie isn't the one from the main timeline and so they are establishing that the X-Men universe is composed of lots of different timelines. I like that, as it's similar to What If in the main MCU. Anyway, hope you do get to catch Legion. I think you'll really enjoy it. Thanks so much for watching the vid and sharing your thoughts. Truly appreciate it!
I’ve been trying to figure out the X-Men timeline, especially the character ages. I’d never really considered it because of the “distant future” text, but if X-Men 3 takes place in 1999, the Jean flashback takes place in 1979 - meaning that Xavier is walking twice in the same year (maybe testing new serum) AND that Jean’s age remains consistent. Really like this. (Headcanon: Xavier realized JFK was a mutant on his own and worked to free Magneto. They were friends for a few years, until Magneto reclaimed his helmet somehow - a thing Xavier had nearly forgotten.) Scott is still a little too old in Origins and Angel’s age is sliding too. Storm’s age is probably fine. It would take 16 years for Magneto and Xavier to ask for Wolverine’s help after X3, and then they spent 9 more years of time offscreen where Sentinels came to prominence. Ultimately, the prequels really screwed it up. There will never be a perfect answer, or even a right one. But if we can make Jean’s age consistent AND Charles/Stryker’s dialogue accurate that’s REALLY good. (Charles is still wrong about meeting Magneto at 17 though, since they were never 17 at the same time.)
Yeah, I'm with you on that...I actually made a follow-up video that looked at the 1999 placement for X3 and why it might actually work better: ruclips.net/video/_n4jsKkLAgc/видео.html
Yep, that makes sense. So, this is the comprehensive video of the whole timeline, but then I had alot of people asking if I could look at a 90's timeline for the OG trilogy and that led to making the second video. Man, the X-Men timeline is so confusing!
Good question...the fact that Prof X says "you're back" seems to imply he knew Logan's mind was sent from 2023 to 1973 but then snapped back into the new 2023 at the same moment in time. Perhaps he simply read Logan's mind to learn what happened to Logan in the past? It does seem from the Logan movie that Professor X remembered what happened in the earlier X-Men movies, so that's the biggest reason that it seems he remembers the original timeline somehow.
@@AbitofEverything4U well he would know that logan time travelled from 2023 to 1973 simply because he told him back in the 70s and explained how it worked. and he would know logan had just arrived back in the present because he just said he needs catching up on everything since 1973, and he’s presumably been lowkey waiting for logan’s consciousness to snap back to 2023 since whenever they re-met. thank u for attempting to explain 🥰 but i still don’t think that implies he remembers both timelines. and i think he remembers og trilogy events in logan despite it being stated outside the film that it takes place after the dofp ending bc the writers haven’t thought about continuity since 2006
Good points..so perhaps the way Xavier knows the events in the original timeline is he read Logan's mind as he was trying to help him re-acquaint with the new 2023. That could be why he knows those events in the Logan movie. Anyway, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on the timeline. I really appreciate it!
The x-men movie timeline to me is very similar to the DC comics timeline. As explained in this video Days Of Future Past changed the timeline dramaticlly, since a lot of the previous movies became non-cannon. DC comics is kinda similar, because with big event maxi series, like Crisis On Infinite Earths, Zero Hour, Infinite Crisis, and Flashpoint, DC's timeline was alterted dramatically with all those events. While a lot of stories remained cannon, other stories were removed from cannon, and sometimes with other events, other stories that were removed from cannon, were made cannon again. Trust me, I'm a DC guy, and this can be confusing at first glance. Heck, DC's timeline changed in the 1950's and there wasn't an event storyline, DC just had to mention it!
Good analogy between the DC timeline and the X-Men timeline. Crisis on Infinite Earths was a great example of a huge change to the continuity. I remember trying to decide if any of the World's Finest comics (as an example) ever actually happened in the new continuity, only to decide that indeed 40+ years of those comics were erased by a 12 issue limited series. Wild stuff. But also very gutsy move. Love it!
@@AbitofEverything4U I'm sure some issues of world's finest were brought back to cannon, others not so much, like that one issue that featured Bruce waynes brother, that can't fit anymore, given court of owls.
Great point...I suspect some might have come back into canon status over time, but at least right after Crisis finished, we learned Batman and Superman had never met based upon their new origins, so at least initially I was like "wait, so all of these issues didn't happen?" Oh my!
I’ve had thoughts that the method of time travel results in different kinds of time travel rules/outcomes, like the pym particles does the branching, and the way she does it for Wolverine in DoFP(just his consciousness) doesn’t branch, and same with how Cable does it, so in a way hulk could be right, but technically wrong overall, but Dp3 could actually confirm the X-men movies have somehow been branching this whole time so we’ll see.
Great suggestions...yeah, I could see the explanation being that the means of travel (pym particles vs. Cable tech, for example) could mean we get branching in one case and BTTF logic in another. But I also like your theory that we may discover in DP&W that it's been branching in the X-Verse all along. Can't wait to see the movie soon!
I apologize for commenting so late. I decided to watch some of the X Men movies after seeing this video. I really like your theory of different time stones causing time travel to work differently. Also, is the X Men 97 animated series part of any of these timelines, or is that its own thing?
Good question about the X-Men '97 show. I'm beginning to wonder if it will turn out that the show is tied to that post-credit scene in The Marvels. If so, that would be wild. And it's great to hear that you're checking out some of the X-Men movies. Definitely a lot of good movies in the X-verse. Enjoy!

Anywho lol on a much less controversial note😅ummm 36:39 ^why can’t this mean that Deadpool then happens in 2004/3?
It would line up with Logan’s quote of no new mutants have been found* (not born), since 2004.
& would also give the young 2nd-class/2nd-gen/darkphoenix-team a bit more time to age into their 2023 older looking versions.
Not to mention it would even poetically have it so that the New Mutants get introduced after the last time we chronologically get to see the young actors playing the young versions of the 2nd-class/2nd-gen/darkphoenix team
Plus that way it wouldn’t cut in-between Deadpool 1 & 2 as well, less important but still^
{Also Deadpool having died even earlier in Cable’s 1st future (say maybe in 2030) doesn’t change the fact that Cable can still say he is very much dead 50 years from 2016 or 2003 cuz either way even if Cable hasn’t lived to see past 2054 he can safely assume that if Deadpool for sure died in say 2030, he’s would most likely still be dead by then}
@@SaveDareDevil-MxI'd be okay with that timeline.

I've never seen this before either.
And the fact that it was cut out from the movie still makes me want to be careful not to fall into assumptions. But I guess it's the best we've got as of now.

Putting the X-Men movies and shows in timeline order? You're a braver man than me haha
lol! Yeah, it is not for the weak at heart.
6:54-Yeah, X-Men Origins: Wolverine causes multiple issues, but there ARE 3 slight possibilities:
1. Beast had managed to make an updated version of the serum to allow him to walk
2. The Professor X that Young Cyclops sees is an astral projection
Good point! Thanks for sharing that!
Cool that members are getting early access now!
Very happy to try to find ways to say thanks for your awesome support!
Honestly, having both Warbird and Blink in both The Gifted and Days of Future Past dealing with the increasing threat of the Sentinel program adds a lot of history to the Future Past versions of those characters. Even if that's the only time we see those actors together.
Quick correction: Warpath appears in Days of Future Past, and Thunderbird appears in The Gifted. In the comics, they are brothers.
@@jorgecarbajal8076 You know, I had a feeling that wasn't the right name. Turns out I combined the two and came out with another Captain Marvel name.
I agree...I love the connections with Blink and with Warpath and Thunderbird. Very cool!
6:51 I think Xavier’s appearance in Origins could be a mental projection and he’s just chilling in the helicopter
Niiice! I'd definitely take that answer as a very good explanation.
One problem with that is Cyclops is blindfolded. He wouldn't be able to see Xavier whether if he's a projection or not.
@@loudboy317 Very good point...so in that case he would have to communicate with Cyclops via telepathy, I suspect.

Right this morning I was rereading the first chapter of the timeline book, about the distant past, and from both that, the Collector explanation in GotG, and the opening of the Eternals movie it's pretty clear that, when a new universe is created, the exact sequence of events is:
1) a Celestial, who for the MCU is Arishem, creates the "first sun", which I believe is a poetic way to reference the Big Bang (it cannot be the actual Sun, because both the timeline book and the opening crawl of Eternals place this "first sun" before the Infinity Stones and the universe itself are even created)
2) from the Big Bang, the six Singularities are created (again, both the opening crawl and the timeline book agree on this point)
3) the universe sparks into existence (as the Collector said in the GotG movie, which is also referenced in the timeline book)
4) the "remnants" of the Singularities after the creation are then forged into "concentrated ingots", aka the Infinity Stones (confirmed again by the Collector and the timeline book).
From this sequence, there are two important observations that can be immediately made:
A) In order to create the Singularities, and therefore the universe, a Big Bang is needed, and the Big Bang is caused by the actions of a Celestial.
Wild stuff!
Thats probably one of the reasons they pivoted so hard into the multiverse, getting X23 in asap is a great move since it leads to a better New Mutants movie/show
@@nailinthefashion Yeah, X23 was great. Hope we see her again!

That's awesome...so glad that the timing worked out for you. Hope you enjoy watching the movies. Lots of great ones in the X-men universe!
Niiiice! Okay, that works out really well, tbh. Thanks for sharing that theory!
Especially considering the 10 year gap
@@bruhmaster6950 Exactly!
The 2054 date for Cable’s future does not contradict the 50 years line, because if Cable knows Deadpool is dead 36 years in the future, he knows he would have already died 50 years in the future.
Oh...now that's a very good point. Okay, maybe I do like 2054 after all! Niiiiice!
20:38-So, slight thing here, Xavier only has the "Welcome back." line to Logan in this context
LOGAN: "You did it."
PROFESSOR X: "Did what? Logan, don't you have a class to teach?"
LOGAN: "A class...to teach?"
PROFESSOR X: "History."
LOGAN: "History? Actually, I could use some help with that."
PROFESSOR X: "Help with what?"
LOGAN: "Pretty much everything after 1973. I think the history I know is...a little different."
PROFESSOR X: "Welcome back."
LOGAN: "It's good to see you again, Charles. It's good to see everyone."
PROFESSOR X: "Well, I had a promise to keep. You and I have a lot of catching up to do."
LOGAN: "Yeah."
PROFESSOR X: "What's the last thing you remember?"
LOGAN: "Drowning."
So, by Logan bringing up 1973, that's him realizing.
ig for me it seemed like it was Charles realizing Logan's mind had snapped back into his 2023 body in the new timeline.

Logan immediately writes it off as, “no, you’re just thinking about that time in 2003, take your meds and go to sleep.”
(Side-note: maybe an alternate version of the original trilogy movies still happened in this timeline, and we never got to see it?)
But also… the sign of the motel where X-23 and the nurse are hiding at the time features… that’s right, the Statue of Liberty on it!

Yeah, my vids are definitely not as flashy as many of the larger YT-ers and likely don't seem as interesting to new viewers, just like it was for you as well. If you have any suggestions for improvements, let me know as I'm always open to feedback. Thx again!
Really appreciate you for this vid man continue making some like this
Thanks! Yeah, I had alot of fun putting that timeline together!
best explanation of the X-Men universe out there !
Thanks so much...I really appreciate the positive feedback!
something to mention is that Polaris actually appears in X-Men: Days of Future Past (The Rogue Cut) she also appears in the normal cut but not for as long and Scarlet Witch gets mentioned
Great point! Yeah, I really hope we get to see Polaris when the X-Men get rebooted in the MCU. And it would be so nice to see the Scarlet Witch hanging out with the X-Men as well.
36:39 Oop wait, Y can’t this mean that Deadpool then happens in 2004/3?
It would line up with Logan’s quote of no new mutants have been found* (not born), since 2004.
& would also give the young 2nd-class/2nd-gen/darkphoenix-team a bit more time to age into their 2023 older looking versions.
Not to mention it would even poetically have it so that the New Mutants get introduced after the last time we chronologically get to see the young actors playing the young versions of the 2nd-class/2nd-gen/darkphoenix team
Plus that way NewMutants wouldn’t cut in-between Deadpool 1 & 2 as well, (😅less important but still lol)
{Also Deadpool having died even earlier in Cable’s 1st future (say maybe in 2030) doesn’t change the fact that Cable can still say he is very much dead 50 years from 2016 or 2003 cuz either way even if Cable hasn’t lived to see past 2054 he can safely assume that if Deadpool for sure died in say 2030, he’s would most likely still be dead by then}
That's a cool idea. I'd be down with the Deadpool movies happening earlier in the timeline. The X-Verse has such a crazy timeline and it feels like a bowl of spaghetti at times, so there are likely many ways to straighten out the spaghetti. Hmmm...now I'm hungry for spaghetti.
@@AbitofEverything4ULmao i love how u accidentally (or maybe low key purposefully) made a whole spaghetti-fication reference right there🤣u’re the best even when u don’t mean to be
Too funny! That's what I get for making the comment right before dinner!
Excellent breakdown as always! I always love how deep you go towards proving the rights and wrongs about the various theories and how they line up. These timelines are not always neat, but you seem to break them down in a comprehensible way unlike any other!
Thanks...I really appreciate the positive feedback on the vid. Yeah, the X-Verse has one crazy timeline, but I think it fits together pretty well in the end...with a few speed bumps here or there. 😆
I love your videos!!!
Love the amount of detail you put in your videos!
Thanks so much...I really appreciate the positive feedback!
Great video as always sir! However, I would argue that the 'not-too distant future' captions are more in reference to the previous scene shown, which in both cases were scenes set in 'the past' (1940s in the first X-Men, and 1996 in The Last Stand)
Oh wow! Nice theory. I've never heard that suggested before, but I like that idea!
I'll be sharing a timeline update that may well solve that very issue. More to follow on that!
Amazing breakdown. I always had a hard time understanding the whole timeline. But you made it easier to understand ❤
Yeah, it sure is a tricky timeline. But I do think it fits together fairly well, with only a few bumps in the road here and there. My son and I are watching the movies in timeline order (his first viewing) and he's enjoyed it alot.
To break the X2 1994 time frame is the iconic song Bye Bye Bye is plays for a second which came out in 2000
Yeah, I have definitely found that no matter how hard we try, the X-Men timeline is impossible to fix in a way that addresses all of the issues.
Yeah, that makes sense. Good solution!
Niiiice! Okay, I'll buy that. I do like it being in 2054 based on that behind the scenes footage.
Great question...I'll be discussing that in my next video on the recommend watch order for the multiverse. More to follow soon!
In Apocalypse, after she saves Nightcrawler, Mystique doesn’t seem interested in anything beyond that, to paraphrase her, “I saved his life, what he does with it is up to him.”
So to me, she impersonated Stryker to pull Logan out of the river, saving him, but then once he was out, she just let him leave on his own.
At some point later, Stryker and Weapon X still got their hands on him, a story we’ll likely never get, but it would have happened at some point after early ‘73.
Niiiiice! Okay, I'd be fine with that. Still weird that she's pretending to be Stryker, but I agree, that line seems to solve the mystery.
37:06 Not necessarily. If Deadpool is "very dead" in 2054, its reasonable that Cable will assume that he is still dead in 2068
Excellent point! Okay, perhaps I should go with 2054 instead. I'd be down for that!
Excellent theories...I agree, that would explain it perfectly!
I haven't watched the video yet because I want to avoid spoilers, but in which order would you recommend watching the X-Men movies for the first time?
Great question. I'd suggest:
X-Men: First Class
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Legion, S1-3 (note that this is a separate timeline)
X-Men
X2: X-Men United
X-Men: Last Stand
The Wolverine
The Gifted, S1-2
X-Men: Days of Future Past
X-Men: Apocalypse
X-Men: Dark Phoenix
Deadpool
New Mutants
Logan
Deadpool 2
38:34 where does Green Lantern fit into the canon? Is it canon to the original timeline?
It's an in universe movie. Just like how we know superman is a comic character in the MCU thanks to Eternals.
Great answer from @__Soya__. I like the idea of it being an in-universe movie. Also, it may have been on a different branch of the X-Men universe as Deadpool was jumping all over the place.
@@__Soya__ Love that answer. Niiiice!
@@AbitofEverything4U fair enough
👍
Honestly, Nix was all over the place with his quotes:
The Cinemablend story is here: www.cinemablend.com/television/1683930/where-the-gifted-fits-into-the-x-men-universe and is dated July 21, 2017
The cbr.com story is here: comicbook.com/marvel/news/the-gifted-showrunner-matt-nix-interview-opens-up-about-the-not-being-allowed-say-wolverine-magneto-x-men/ and is dated August 21, 2021.
Sigh.
@@AbitofEverything4U
Oh, I wasn't addressing the dates of the articles/interviews, but some presumed dates for what the quotes referred to in real life.
@@AbitofEverything4U
One weird thing about those interviews is that it seems like Nix changed his view on how the timelines or time travel work...
37:54 why McAvoy professor x is in this scene? Isn't supposed to be Patrick Stewart?
Honestly, the two actors switching back and forth is quite confusing. In the Original timeline we saw that it was Stewart in 1979's Wolverine movie in that final scene and in the 1986 flashback when he visited Jean during the Last Stand movie. ofc, those timelines were erased, but it still showed us what he would look like in 1979 and 1986. But in the new timeline, we see McAvoy in 1982 and 1992 in the Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix movies. So ig it's not that crazy to see McAvoy again in 2018.
@@AbitofEverything4U i guess they hired McCoy because he would have been cheeper that Stewart 😂🤣

@@BlueMarsalis Awesome!
So the order would be:
- Origins: Wolverine (which could be in its own universe)
- X-Men
- X2: X-Men United
- (X-Men: The Game explains the gap between X2 - The Last Stand)
- X-Men: The Last Stand
- The Wolverine
- The Future settings of DOFP
- Wolverine comes back to the Happy Ending where everyone is alive which erases The Last Stand and some of X2 at least
- Logan
*Then we go into the First Class Verse*
- First Class
- Past Settings of DOFP
- Apocalypse
- Pheonix
- Deadpool 1
- Deadpool 2
*Deadpool starts cleaning the timelines which erases Origins which could in effect erase the original timeline which causes him to be targeted by the TVA in Deadpool 3

I totally agree… The timeline may be a bit of a mess, but the stories are so good. And of course, Hugh Jackman is the rockstar as wolverine!
Wow… that was a fantastic breakdown. You made it so understandable 😭😭😭
Thanks so much...had a lot of fun putting it together. Really appreciate the positive feedback!
Where would you place the end credit scene from The Marvels, if anywhere?
At this point, I'm guessing it's going to tie in with X-Men '97 somehow. But just a wild theory for now.
Wolverine didn't travel back in time. He phased his mind, his body stayed in the future
Good point! Yes, I should have said it like that. Excellent clarification!
Great point! Yeah, I agree, portions of The Wolverine must have happened in the revised timeline. Excellent feedback!
@@dave0001100 Charles has telekinesis. It’s weak so he rarely uses it. It’s gotten a significant upgrade in recent comics.
@@WhiteRaven696 Thanks for explaining that!
Seems interesting video. There aren't any spoilers of DP 3 here, right? I haven't even watched it's trailer....
@@AbitofEverything4U yes
💯
X-Men: Apocalypse explicitly states that it's set in 1983 because of the title card at the beginning, which you forgot to mention.
Oh, great point! Yes, I should indeed have mentioned that. Good catch!
That's so great to hear. Yeah, I had alot of fun watching the gifted. It was a good show and kept me hooked to the very end!
Just a idea
Great point! Makes perfect sense. Thanks so much for watching the vid and for sharing your feedback on it. Truly appreciate it!
38:20 isn't x men origin erased by days of future past? Then how wade still travelled to this scene?
Such a good question...so with Wade, it seems about anything is possible. lol! But my guess is he actually traveled to an alternate timeline from the one that was erased. Because if he had killed Crappy Deadpool in the original timeline then it would have altered that movie's ending. So I suspect he went to a "what if" type branched timeline. But ofc with Wade you just never know what he's going to do!
I guess deadpool has special abilities like forth wall breaking. So to me i like to think of this scene only as a joke and not a serious continuity detail... Just like he went back to kill green lantern
Right...that's a good way to view it as well. With Deadpool, he keeps us guessing all the time!
Excellent theory! Okay, I would totally buy that answer. Thanks so much for the feedback on the vid. I truly appreciate it!
I’d say an easier explanation for Charles being able to walk in Origins and The Last Stand is that he’s not there physically it’s just a mental projection of himself
Great point! Excellent theory!
49:04 In this part say "Legion is part of the X-Men Universe, but obviously we're our own Astral Plane, we're our own world"
49:22 ad in this part say "Yes, it's connected. No, it won't really care to tell how
Might be referring to that
I haven't seen the series yet and I want to see the X-Men universe in a timeline order
Truly appreciate it!
at the end of days don't forget that proffesor X can read logan's mind so that's how he knows witch logan that is
Great point! Yeah, that does explain the end of DoFP. Thanks for mentioning that!
About New Mutants. The movie was planned to release in April 2018 so it makes sense that in universe it's February 2017. More than 2020 or 2023.
Excellent point! I agree 100%!
They were friends for a few years, until Magneto reclaimed his helmet somehow - a thing Xavier had nearly forgotten.)
Scott is still a little too old in Origins and Angel’s age is sliding too.
@@AbitofEverything4U 👀I’ll check that out. The reason I came to this video is because I saw X-Men listed as 94 in the spreadsheet.
Yep, that makes sense. So, this is the comprehensive video of the whole timeline, but then I had alot of people asking if I could look at a 90's timeline for the OG trilogy and that led to making the second video. Man, the X-Men timeline is so confusing!
20:22 how does this line imply that charles remembers the original timeline?
Enjoy!
