IMO X-men days of future past is the best marvel movie by far. Everything was perfect. The cast, the acting, the action, the emotions, the tension, the writing, the direction, it couldn’t be any better.
God I wish that was the last Fox xmen movie. It perfectly wraps it up. Would have been such a high note to go out on then with Logan being the final film in the franchise after that. The last shot being Logan’s grave like cmon why couldn’t that have been it? The last shot being Logan’s cross turned to an X perfectly ends the Fox series of films. Would have been so poetic. They just had to make 2 more xmen movies that ended up being the worst in the entire series. I’d rather watch X3 and Wolverine origins than those movies.
I am a big defender of the X-Men movies, love them or hate them you can’t deny how crucial they were in the whole shared universe craze and giving Kevin Fiege his start in the marvel world. Would you consider doing some MCU videos? Or even videos about the Blade, Fantastic 4 and Tobey/Andrew Spidey movies? That would be awesome
Quite possibly in the future. In the current state of the MCU I’m not a huge fan anymore (unfortunately) but I might make videos on the previous phases and some of those videos. Especially if this one ends up doing well.
I totally agree with you. When i heard someone say "X-Men are awful" is like saying that Iron Man was awful. Sure, they aren't all great (X-Men Origins, The Wolverine, Dark Phoenix) but then there are good ones like the first 2 OG movies, First Class, or even Apocalypse for me wasn't that bad by the end. Now seems that people remember that franchise just for Deadpool 1 & 2 and Logan and this is just a shame 'cause without them we wouldn't have the MCU right now.
@@francescozenocchini4428 I liked The Wolverine it's not the greatest but definitely not the worse. First Class definitely wasn't that good but the best X Men movie was X Men Days of Future Past
Honestly grew up watching those storm was a hottie wolverine was a badass I think X-men origins was a little too much like fast and furious with the ridiculous stunts that are impossible based on the laws of science and physics but other than that those were the OG super hero movies along side the original F4

The fact that you mentioned X-Men Evolution in the first 40 seconds convinced me to watch this movie in its entirety! That cartoon is one of my all time favorites!! I love the way you explained the X-Men timeline. Well done!!! My favorites are the original, X2 and DOFP! I really hope MCU does justice for some of these characters and story arcs.
I felt a fondness for the X-Men for a while; then Jenifer Lawrence took a fat shit in my nostalgic margarine tub, then put it back in the fridge of my memories, and now my first thought is “ugh…” any time this franchise is mentioned.
I wanna add a comment about the ripple effect. The concept of the ripple effect is particularly interesting when considering the outcomes of these films. In "Logan," we see the timeline eventually correcting itself as mutants once again face extermination. However, this time, the process of their decline is different, and the story also presents a contrasting outcome: a glimmer of hope for the mutants' survival, something the future team in "Days of Future Past" was striving to achieve. In essence, "Days of Future Past" began with the near-extinction of mutants, and through resetting the timeline, it created a new reality where mutants were no longer endangered. As a result, the new timeline had to reach a point where mutants faced extinction again, as this event had not yet occurred in the altered 2023 timeline. However, the existence of X-23, her companions, and the mutant refugees in Canada represents the ray of hope that the "Days of Future Past" future reset aimed to establish. This time, without the need for time manipulation, it suggests that mutants are here to stay for good, finally achieving a lasting chance at survival.
I wish they had stayed to Nightcrawler and Mystique's comic personalities. By the end they destroyed Mystique's character and Nightcrawler faded to the background. It would've been great if they made a Brotherhood movie set during the JFK assassination. Mystique as a the main character, she learns how to be an assassin by Azazel as in the comics, she is the only one to survive the events, as Eric gets arrested and sent to the Pentagon. A prequel to Days Of Future Past.
I just want to say that both Dark Phoenix and New Mutants were filmed before Disney bought the studio from Fox. Dark Phoenix was never designed to be a finale to the X-Men universe, hence why it ends on a cliffhanger. There is also the upcoming Deadpool/Wolverine movie that Marvel Studios is about to start filming, which further shows that the movie was no finale and Marvel wants to make more X-Men universe films.
Dark Phoenix still ( in my opinion) should have been like an avengers level threat for X-men or they should’ve waited for a crossover. Same with apocalypse, he should’ve been like thanos; a 2 part very dark a rated R movie. I still enjoyed them, but that’s how it should’ve been
0:20- Not to play devils advocate but to humor the gut feeling in me I say that Wesley Snipes as “Blade” is the beginning of the MCUs conception present. The first light of marvel’s dawn breaking the horizon in a cinematic induction @ any length.
Days of Future Past was the absolute high point of the X-Men movies. If Kevin Fiege had been in charge back, then we probably would’ve gotten of much better X-Men universe, but hopefully will be getting that soon. I still don’t know when their plans to introduce the x-men are gonna be but it has to be getting close.
Seems like we’re getting X-men in the MCU real soon but let’s be honest, and I think we both can agree on this, Kevin fiege is great and would make great X men movies but it’s the president of Disney that is ruining marvel movies. Until she’s out, the movies will be great again
I agree with you on Days of Future Past 💯 10/10. Because of the ramifications of time travel, that became Logan’s new present- with him fully remembering his past. Which is why Mystique popping up kinda makes sense- she can help him out since she’s actively changing the past/present/future
IMO, you can divide all the movies into different universe ,or a multiverse if you will. Universe 1 - X-MEN 1-3, The Wolverine, Days of Future Past( Rogue Edition), you get the happy ending. Universe 2- First Class, Days of Future Past(Theatrical Version), Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix Universe 3- X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The New Mutants, Logan ( the reason these movies go together is because they all deal with experimentation on children) This is how I make sense of everything in the X-MEN series & it seems to work, though not perfect, for me anyway.
Ill always appreciate the irony that through so many muddled productions and splintering timelines this franchise is actually pretty close to its comic origins
It is so nice to see someone say positive things about the x-men movies. You find far too many videos and reviews out there that just crap all over the entire series. As you mention, there are truly some gems in the Fox series, and I agree with about 95% of what you say. Anyway, just wanted to thank you for being one of the few that actually have nice things to say about this series and is willing to stand by and support those comments.
I think wut Jean mentioned at the end of the first X-Men movie means that Rogue absorbed some of Wolverine's personality trait because that's how her powers work when you hold on too long. And also, Rogue and Wolverine has a platonic relationship in the 90's X-Men and the comics. So that isn't too surprising if it means she developed a crush on him.
@@thethriftytypewriter I don't get the complaining about "this movie has 2 different plotlines" about Last Stand. most movies or tv shows have an A plot and a B plot. one being more important than the other plot or being equally important is at the whim of the filmmakers and has different degrees of importance in different movies. I don't get "what do these plotlines have to do with each other" why do they have to? what they have to do with each other is one plot being about a McGuffin that makes mutants weaken or lose their powers, and the other is about a mutant whose power is growing and becoming unstable. I think there's a clear connection there between the two plotlines since you can go through the whole movie expecting for the McGuffin to be the thing to stop Jean. I don't understand why these are seen as somehow mutually exclusive plotlines? or why people think it "doesn't work" or "makes the movie nonsense" when they clearly had a reason for existing. then they "subvert expectations" by not using the McGuffin to stop Jean. this complaint makes no sense to me
Quick shoutout to Legion, which is pretty much the best live-action superhero show I've seen. Amahl Farouk aka Shadow King is very developed compared to Acopolypse and Stryker, and his presence pervades the atmosphere. He may not be the strongest, but he does play well into being more of a personal villain, like Doctor Octupus and Green Goblin. David Haller is also pretty interesting because he goes from being very sympathetic to a much larger danger than Shadow King. Of course a different version of Professor X shows up.
Thanks! Your in-depth review and analysis of all of the X-Men films was thoroughly explained. I honestly couldn’t explain it any better myself. I agreed with almost all of your rankings ( I would just switch places with dark phoenix and last stand.) I also agree with you with the days of future past/logan praise (I also have them a 10 out of 10 ) 🙏🙏. This was probably my favorite video you put on your channel. I am X-Men defender as well and always been a fan of X-Men over more traditional super hero movies that have been released lately. Just rewatched all the movies again and it was great. I like how apocalypse ending basically circles back to the first movie.
Slight correction on what happens to mutants in Logan: They weren't hunted down, Charles had his first seizure/episode at the mansion, but since no one knew what was going on or how to stop it, it ended up killing a majority of the X-Men and everyone else in the mansion. That, and, in the movie, there are various hints toward the fact that for some reason, mutants just aren't being born at the rate that they used to and less people are having their X-gene be activated. The reason Laura and the other children were being chased wasn't just because that they were mutants, but because they were being experimented on and escaped the labs.
If I recall correctly, they explicitly state that some chemical added to the water supply supresses the x gene or something, hence the drastic decrease of mutant's birthrate
I’m happy we got all the great moments and scenes that we did. If anything, they were still the best thing out of the not so great films in the franchise.
@@thethriftytypewriteri still yhink the films were great though Maybe no you know Wolverine Origins But everything else though also I like to imagine Elktra and Daredevil and Psylock,Viper,Luna and even Calisto in Days Of Future past, like Maybe Selene Could only bring them back and when she tries to bring Jean Back she's killed By Something or someone
In fact, there are 2 shows centered on the mutants: Legion, which is centered around David Haller, the son of Charles, who has schizophrenia (by far, one of the best superhero series of all time, next to Daredevil); and The Gifted, that centers around a family that discovers that their sons have mutant powers. It context would be something thematically between X2 and Days of Future Past (don't let this phrase fool you, it is pretty mid)
Remember owning a dvd copy of Xmen 1 as a kid and watching behind the scenes with my dad and you can see how much the cast was having a great time filming and working on the movie. Xmen movies will always hold a special part in my heart growing up and even now
I LIVED for the 90’s X-men cartoon when I was a child and it was my entry into the marvel universe, which still fascinates me to learn about to this day. I remember watching X-men Evolution and I liked some of the plot lines quite a bit and the introduction of Kitty Pride and the first time I had ever seen a pre-Carol Danvers Rogue used in an awesome way purely using her original mutant power of absorbing the powers and memories of those she touches. I also remember when the first X-men film was announced and how excited I was for my favorite comic book series brought to life. I loved Anna Paquin as Rogue, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian Makellen as Magneto, Famke Jansen as Jean Grey and Rebecca Romaine as Mystique. Halle Berry was a good choice for Storm, but her line and accent in the original were cringey, and thankfully she improved with each subsequent film. James Marsden seemed underdeveloped and underused in the film. Then X-2 came out and was AMAZING for a superhero movie at that time. We got Pyro, Rogue and Bobby Drake learning to part of the X-men team and we get a wonderful intro to Nightcrawler. X-2 was the peak of the original movie trilogy. Then the X-men: The Last Stand came along and it was a confusing and disappointing mess. It was also the first time we get the first of many poor attempts to bring the Dark Phoenix Saga to the big screen. Angel is introduced but completely underused, Mystique was cured and became non-existent from that point. Cyclops got the Tara from True Blood treatment and was taken out off screen and barely touched upon after the discovery of his death. Juggernaut, multiple man, Calypso, Arclight , and a horrendous version of Psylocke, but they are not developed and are one dimensional. Their powers are changed and are only there to become Magneto’s army. Beast is brought in and so is Kitty Pryde and Colossus. I enjoyed Kitty Pryde but I despised how they gave Colloses little to no lines despite being a part of the team. Rogue is erased from the story and becomes unimportant and absent for most of the film. Some of the fight scenes and special effects are amazing (the Golden Gate Bridge and the scenes at Jean’s home and on Alcatraz island), but Scott and Professor X’s death feel empty and unnecessary. The random use of Leech as the source of the cure felt shoehorned into the story then we end with Jean’s death, a “cured” Magneto, and the cool hint that the cure does not work forever. It felt like a boring attempt to go big but dismissed the aspects of X-2 that made it so great. Then X-men First class came along and I effing LOVED this film. It was grounded in real world events and showed us the younger versions of Xavier and Magneto and how their longtime friendship began but also started to sour. I enjoyed Jennifer Lawerence as a younger Mystique, and I didn’t mind that the previous films never hinted that Magneto or Professor X had ever had any connection to Mystique in the previous trilogy that was as in depth as in First Class. I merely saw First Class as a reboot of the franchise and accepted as the start of a new saga. I loved that we got a young Banshee, Havoc, Darwin, Beast before his mutation altered his appearance, the strange amalgamation that was Angel/Wasp, and the awesome version of Moira Mactaggert. The intro to the Hellfire Club was great and Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw was perfect! I am one of the few that didn’t hate January Jones as Emma Frost, and I was beyond angry that they abandoned the character after the first film before she could shine. Jones embodied the icy beautiful but ruthless demeanor of the white queen and the character deserved better. Whiplash was poorly executed and Azaezel was only used as a plot device. Otherwise I loved the film and the final battle on the beach, Magneto lifted the submarine from the water, and Shaw’s attack on the CIA facility. When Days of Future Past was announced, I was excited and intrigued as how they would incorporate the original films and actors into the story. Seeing the new Dangerous Sentinels in the future was terrify and seeing how Bobby, Kitty, Colluses, Blink, Bishop, Warpath, and Sunspot were all that remained of the X-men was awesomely done. Storm was at her best in this film and we get our first glimpse of Quicksilver, but sadly Fox couldn’t use him and Wanda properly bc they did not own the rights to those to characters. I could watch this film over and over bc it’s carried out rather impressively. Watching all the characters die one by one in the future to save the past was suspenseful and heartbreaking. And the battles with the sentinels, the escape of Magneto with quicksilver, and the final back and forth battles of the finale are epic. Watching Logan wake up and see the future as it should have existed at the end of the Last Stand was emotional. We saw him reunited with Storm, Cyclops, Xavier, and more importantly, Jean Grey as she was when he loved her. Kitty was with Collosssus and Rogue was BACK and with Bobby! Seeing the restored future was a great way to end the film. I amIn the minority that did not hate X-men Apocalypse. He and Mr. Sinister were my favorite villains from the 90’s cartoon. Seeing him as the first mutant on earth and his resurrection process and how he enhances his 4 horsemen was great. We get the film in the 80’s and meet the young Cyclops, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, Jubilee and see them meet at the school for the first time. We meet the young and well adapted version of Storm in Egypt, a new and odd version of Angel/Archangel, and a far more interesting and better adaptation of Psylocke. I was bored with the Magneto tragic backstory to turn him into a villain once again, and I liked Raven attempting to atone for her mistakes by helping a fully blue beast and quicksilver help the team stop Apocalypse from remaking the world from the ashes. I loved Xavier’s line where he pleads for those that are strong to protect the weak from what is coming. Moira awesomely returns and I loved the moment of Xavier restoring her memories from First Class. All I was worried about in this film was the knowledge that the use of Jean’s powers was gonna lead to ANOTHER try at the Dark Phoenix saga. And I was right. This film is just poorly done and ruins several characters. Having Raven die in an accident that Jean couldn’t control was unnecessary and turned Beast and Magneto into completely one dimensional villains that could not see that Jean was being manipulated by a cosmic entity possessing her and by her own emotional trauma that Xavier had hidden and not helped her process the healthy way. This was the sad whimper that showed me that Fox’s new revitalization of the X-men film Franchise was now dead in the water. All bc no one will try to adapt ANY other sort outside of Dark Phoenix. I don’t count the Wolverine stand-alone films as cannon bc they are ALL over the place. And Logan may be a good movie, but to never see the fruits of Logan’s work coke to life in the future we saw at the end of Days of Future Past, was a HUGE disappointment. When I heard of the New Mutants film and how it was going to be darker, I was thrilled. Having Raine Sinclair, Moonstar, Magik, Sunspot, and Cannonball introduced into the series was great. Anya Taylor-Joy’s performance as Magik was perfection and I would LOVE for her to be brought back into the MCU. I actually enjoy this movie, and when Disney bought up the Marvel properties, I was devastated to learn that the new mutants was gonna give me the story from the comics I had always wanted to see adapted, which was the inferno/Goblin Queen/Darkchylde story. Watching Magik be corrupted by Limbo and finally seeing Madelyn Pryor brought to life, would have been a dream come true. But it was lost in the shuffle of properties Disney bought up from Marvel. I REALLY hope we still get the Inferno story in the MCU, as hints at dark dimensions and limbo, along with Maddisynn’s drunken tour through Mephisto’s realm in She-Hulk gives me some hope that we may still get Inferno after all these years. The Fox X-Men series was groundbreaking and it paved the way for the MCU and superhero franchises that we see today.
34:15 It's explained I'm the beginning of the movie before Logan goes back that "[While you're in the past, both the past and future coexist and the things you do in the past won't take effect until you wake up.]"
Logan is my favorite, because it has a brutality and seriousness that you can rarely see in Superhero-movies but fits them perfectly. I dont get why they dont make more of these. They are usually better than the lighthearted action-/CGI-blockbusters, the typical marvel-movie. The Batman trilogy is the best example and even in the MCU, many consider the more serious one, Civil War, the best of them all.
Personally, I think the characterisation for MCU Quicksilver is much better to how Quicksilver is in the comics, while I do like Evan Peters in the role, I thought Aaron Taylor-Johnson played a better version of the character. I wish they explored his Quicksilver more in the MCU, since he was supposed to survive Age of Ultron, but due to Days of Future Past he had to get killed off.
as dumb as apocalypse and dark phoenix is, I still love the characters of Charles and Erik. The two deciding to live together after the end of DP was really nice, the fact that now the two have ‘fixed’ their friendship together in the new timeline makes me happy, especially since they both regret their constant fighting in xmen future past. (If I’m completely wrong in my timeline, let me know)
You should watch The Gifted series. I watched it and I personally really enjoyed it. I’m pretty sure it is set in between X-Men The Last Stand and X-Men Days of Future Past.
With Wolverine asking Bobby and Rogue how they, I always took that as a subtle move to gauge how Bobby is treating her and not pushing her too fast. Like a protective brother and such not as a parent.
post credit last stand shows xavier swapping consciousness with a patient in hospital and saying hello Moria. She is a nurse for some reason there. thats why he's alive in Days of Future past.
There are two entries people always forget about: *X-Men: The Official Game* - set between X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand *Deadpool: No Good Deed* - set between Deadpool and Deadpool 2
I will always defend The Last Stand for I am a sucker for Famke's Dark phoenix portrayal. It sits behind Days of Future Past as my favorite Xmen movie.
Ohh I agree with your ranking! I loved x2, first class and dofp. The quicksilver scenes were such a joyy, I loved the Time in a bottle sequence. Cyclops was my crush since watching the animated show when I was little lol they did butcher his character :( Scott Marsden was charming though! Loved the video, the franchise might have had several awful films but still one of the most memorable franchises I'd say! Thanks for the longer video 😊 take care!
I remember being so confused watching the cartoon and then the live action movies. I was like why isn’t Cyclops in this more? 😂 And thank you! Glad you enjoyed!
X-men was the initial group that caught my attention. I am a big fan despite having no idea how the timeline makes sense. You're amazing to do this rundown of the narrative. You are definitely appreciated Sir!"
Days of future past is my favourite superhero film and gets severely overlooked. I think it functions as a better finally to the x-men than endgame did in the mcu because of the pacing and the way time travel is used.
I'm embarrassed to admit this now, but teenage me loved Origins: Wolverine so much that I bought a bootleg at the flea market. To this day, my mom tells me I owe Hugh Jackman ten bucks.
My aunts friend got a bootleg back when I was a freshman in HS, that shit literally had the fresh work-in-progress animations split into the movie, I always think back to the grey wolverine character getting flipped over the log truck at the bar 😂
Logan also the katana from the Wolverine film, there’s also deleted scenes that mentioned Sabertooth and him in a special force and him killing Jean Grey. Almost implying that it ties itself to the original timeline, so it’s like an alternate future where the Sentinels never rises and never needed to go back in time to change it.
Lol, the mansion invasion scene in X2! I was a teenage edge lord and had stage fright and would watch that scene with Wolverine on loop to get myself psyched up before I had to get onstage to play shows with the band I was in 🤣 it f'n worked though! Or it coulda been all the beers and pa1nkxllers I'd choked down? 😅
X-Men fan since the 90’s cartoon. Love X2 and Days of Future Past the most. I really did like Apocalypse as well. For the most part I try and make the most of the movies despite their imperfections. If I rewatch some of the lesser movies I’ll just skip to the scenes I like, mostly fight scenes.
yeah hank said about the ripple effect but then charles said if enough ripples happen it can change anything or something meta, so theres still potential for it to continue but not if mutants are all dead in logan i dont remember that movie very much, good vid as always Mr Thrifty
It's good to know that there are people who defend Days of Future Past, I love this film and for me it's the best X-Men film of all time and it was the first one I watched in the cinema, I have great affection for this film, for me it is also 10/10.
I dont think your Days of Future Past opinion should be controversial. That movie fuckin rules. It definitely deserves to be in the top 5 of best super hero movies

The only complaint I have of this awesome timeline video is at 5:02 you mention that "some of the younger actors aren't that great.." then cut to a scene with Anna Paquins character Rouge. Ana was already an Oscar winning actress at that time of her career for the movie 'the Piano'- being one of the youngest EVER actors to win the Award.
I've enjoyed many aspects of the Fox franchises but I still couldn't ignore the continuity issues that plagued it. Despite that, Logan was well done. I'm actually commenting on Logan mainly here. There's a scene in the Logan film that imo either self explains the film taking place in the pre Days of Future Past future or at least a very similar timeline. It's when Charles was talking about Logan during the dinner at the doomed farmer's family home. He basically outed Logan for killing Jean which supposedly took place in X-MEN Last Stand. If he wasn't just rambling about "fictional events that never happened" and it truly did take place, then Logan is definitely in the pre DOFP timeline where Last Stand and other previous films are canon. However, they could easily explain that Charles' condition somehow allows him to recite memories of the pre DOFP at any given time.. Then there's that other issue with Charles. I recall in the pre DOFP timeline, when Charles was supposedly killed by Jean, he somehow later wakes up alive under the care of Moira MacTaggart. It's said that after Jean destroys his body he transferred his consciousness into a comatose body of a "twin" or "doppelganger"..,??? I wonder if his illness in Logan is an aftereffect or a defect of this particular body that Charles ends up living in? Complicated. ugh. Idk. Just a thought.
As a life long X-men fan, it makes me happy to know the fandom hasn’t been totally wiped out. I love all the X-men movies for better and for worse. So much that the MCU take Makes me extremely nervous. As far as other media goes, Gifted was ok. I really enjoyed their adaptation of the Fennris twins. 1st season held my interest but the 2nd lost me halfway through. Then it was cancelled. But Gifted can be read as taking place in the 1st timeline. It’s a few years after “The Wolverine “ and is the intervening years before we pick up in the beginning of Days Of Future Past. There was also Legion which was great!!! It can also be read as taking place right before days of future past OR during the same time period of the Deadpool Movies. I go with the latter due to its constant references to the X-men and their history.
I absolutely love the X-Men from Marvel (even though I'm now a massive green lantern fan) so much so, that I have a detailed fan theory as to how the X-Men could join the Marvel Cinematic Universe: keep First Class, Days of Future Past, Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix, Deadpool 1 & 2, New Mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline as there is a massive gap between 1963-1995 with the Dark Phoenix cast appearing in Deadpool 1&2, these films can happen after the events of Dark Phoenix and since Essex Corps is referenced in New Mutants, this could happen in the Dark Phoenix timeline after these events, Professor X uses Cerebro to convince the world that mutants don't exist and erase any new mutant activities from people's minds whenever one is witnessed. however the only person who knows is Nick Fury, who agrees with Professor X to keep tabs on any new mutant activity. this is also referenced in a deleted scene from Iron Man 1, when Nick mentions X-Men the X-Men can work in secret between 1992 up until Endgame. when Tony Stark snaps his fingers, the mind stone reverses the effects of Professor X's actions. resulting in the public now remembering who the X-Men are as for Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, Hydra's meddling with the mind stone prematurely reversed Professor X's actions, as it was mentioned that the mind stone unlocks dormant abilities already present in the brain my theory brings the Dark Phoenix X-Men cast into the MCU, thus eliminating the need to recast the entire X-Men team. the actors are young, they've expressed interest in returning and continuing their roles. it's an option for Marvel Studios to do that I've explained my theory to a lot of people, most of whom say it works. others say it won't work and demand i should forget everything about the Fox X-Men films and be happy with what Disney/Marvel Studios are going to do with the X-Men I will probably receive a lot of negative feedback about my theory, nothing is set in stone, if Marvel Studios can bring back JK Simmons as J Jonah Jameson/the Sony Spider-cast, why won't they bring back the Dark Phoenix cast? there are multiple websites that support my theory, along with the Iron Man 1 deleted post credit scene. not only that, something similar happened in the comics (Robert Reynolds/Sentry and Gabriel Summers/Vulcan) since Days of Future Past rewrote the timeline, X-trilogy/Wolverine trilogy no longer take place as the ending to Dark Phoenix doesn't connect to the original trilogy, leaving it open for possible future sequels. as I mentioned, the Dark Phoenix cast could return and continue James McAvoy - Professor X Michael Fassbender - Magneto Tye Sheridan - Cyclops Nicholas Hoult - Beast Alexandra Shipp - Storm Kodi Smitt-Mcphee - Nightcrawler Sophie Turner - Jean Grey Josh Brolin - Cable Brianna Hildebrand - NTW Stefan Kapicic - Colossus Olivia Munn - Psylocke Peter Dinklage - Bolivar Trask Oscar Isaac - Apocalypse Rose Byrne - Moira McTaggart Anya Taylor-Joy - Magik as I've mentioned, in my X-Men MCU timeline, Mystique dies and Quicksilver dies after Avengers 2. the other X-Men characters I don't mind recasting, as long as they keep the cast I mention above aswell as try to follow my fan theory
Thank you for that very accurate and honest presentation, I agree with your comments on “Days of Future Past” it is indeed my favorite superhero comic book movie. It was the first and only movie I went to the theater to see over five (5) times. I still get chills when I watch it, it deserve the 10/10you gave it.
I actually think the xmen fought against apocalypse in the og timeline too cause in the movie it is shown that storm's white hair and charles loosing his hair is due to apocalypse which is something those characters also have in the og timeline. Also apocalypse existence and return shouldn't have been changed by wolverine's time travel. I basically think that xmen apocalypse also happened in the og timeline but with some major differences like nightcrawler and quicksilver not being in the team
Lastly the New Mutants made more sense and gave more depth to the characters than the franchise gave to a series of reoccurring characters with the movies. New Mutants was much better than most of the X-Men movies and that sucks because I am all for the X-Men comics and cartoons but the movies did not do them justice, although they helped to launch what we have today
Way I see it's not one continuous timeline but two separate realities, the McAvoy and the Stewart with DoFP acting as an entry in both whilst also doubling as a multiversal quantum entanglement crossover event which ended up causing a ripple effect for both realities, i.e. the two alternate realities crossed (X) streams. The clue is in Deadpool when he uses the term "timelines", plural, and the numerous references to Star Trek in DoFP; it's like when the original Spock accidentally ended up in the newer timeline of the Abrams Star Trek reboot.
So …if jean becomes dark phoenix in the 2019 film then how come we she is back at the end of x-men days of future past when logan wakes up after resetting the timeline?
People aren’t off on the X-Men films. It’s a huge franchise. The internet goofs on the timeline a lot but they still like most of the films. I disagree with some of this videos points, perhaps many of them but my real problem is philosophical. This issue is all over the internet but I don’t like how the video too often lowers one to raise another. It’s done in would be quips but when those jokes aren’t funny the quips feel pointless. I like liking things and I like those who focus on that… not focusing on knocking what internet-consensus brain tells us that we shouldn’t like… those jokes tend to be old and tired.
Dark Phoenix wasn’t as bad as people made it, it was pretty decent, but it had been pretty much 20 years, and people had waited so long for a good X-men movie. They also should have used the the Shiar, not those other people.
Unpopular opinion but i actually really like x men origins: Wolverine. I grew up with it so maybe I have some bias but I love re watching it every now and then, don’t see all the hate
Maybe hot take: Generation X (uncut) and The New Mutants are two of my favorite xmen films. They’re just creative and fun. Something I don’t think people look much at anymore. I really enjoy the R rated cut of The Wolverine. Also I think the Rogue Cut is the best version of DOFP
The gifted is tied to the x-men series and was actually a pretty good show, it basically takes place either before or after Logan, but the x-men was wiped out by the sentinels and there was no hope for mutankind, but there’s another group that’s like the safe house for mutants, it’s been a min since I watched it, and is worth watching, I think it only had 3 seasons 🤔which is sad cause I actually enjoyed it 1:03:50
The fact you didnt even mention X-men TAS (the animated series) made me sad. maybe im older than you but X-men TAS is so GOATED. I implore any X-men fan to binge watch the 5 seasons of this epic 90's show voiced by Canadian vocie actors. I waited and waited yet you never mentioned it. how could this happen? why haven't you watched it? only evolution? wowzerz
As for Logan, here’s what I think: In the DOFP timeline, 2023 was the year when they decide to send Wolverine back to the past in order to stop Mystique from killing Trask. In the revised timeline, Wolverine wakes up in 2023 and the X-Men are all alive and well. But in Logan the X-Men are gone. I think Logan is in its own universe. When it comes to “continuity” it makes the most sense.
raven's powers allow her to not age, its stated a few times that shes older than logan is or about the same age, yes she obviously ages but due to her powers its impossible to tell how old she is as well as how much she ages
IMO X-men days of future past is the best marvel movie by far. Everything was perfect. The cast, the acting, the action, the emotions, the tension, the writing, the direction, it couldn’t be any better.
👀👀👀
I agree. I absolutely love that movie
They should've done a Brotherhood movie that shows the events leading to Eric being captured and imprisoned in the Pentagon.
😂 its one of the better xmen movies. It aint better than cap2 or infinity war

One of my guiltiest pleasures when it comes to movies
Same bro I liked it
Same as well as Spiderman 3 😂
Universe 2- First Class, Days of Future Past(Theatrical Version), Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix
Universe 3- X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The New Mutants, Logan ( the reason these movies go together is because they all deal with experimentation on children)
This is how I make sense of everything in the X-MEN series & it seems to work, though not perfect, for me anyway.
Appreciate the comment! I always try to focus on the positives!
Loved your explanation, I often got very confused by the movies, but now everything is clear, thanks for it !
Glad to help!
Such a remarkable show. It contains my favorite portrayal of Charles Xavier.

6:54 the music goes extremely well with the man dancing
I honestly would love to see McAvoy and Fassbender make a return but i know they’d just be destroyed as characters
I’m happy we got all the great moments and scenes that we did. If anything, they were still the best thing out of the not so great films in the franchise.

Xmen movies will always hold a special part in my heart growing up and even now
The X-men trilogy is severly underrated.
Especially The Last Stand
@ somewhat I feel like every time I watch it it just gets worse
That’s was just how good Ian is. Believable and a great great actor
They can’t make more of them since Disney bought Fox 😒 but hopefully the MCU will do the Team justice
My favorite scene of First Class is Wolverine flipping them off when they try to recruit him.
That scene with Professor X and Magneto playing chess in the cell is one of the greatest scene in comic cinema history.
I loved the Wolverine Origin movie tie-in game a lot.
I would say it's one of the best X-Men games ever.
Im telling you right now, putting on some of your videos that ive seen for background noise while i sleep gives me some crazy ass dreams.
This video needs more likes and attention. You always make quality videos that are informative and easy to follow
❤️❤️❤️ thank you very much
as dumb as apocalypse and dark phoenix is, I still love the characters of Charles and Erik.
I’m with you, Days of future past… ticks all the box’s! Loved it!
post credit last stand shows xavier swapping consciousness with a patient in hospital and saying hello Moria. She is a nurse for some reason there. thats why he's alive in Days of Future past.
he acknowledges this in the timeline segment of the vid
Where was Xavier's mind contained, before it entered this new body?
@@ricperry8743I’d guess the astral plane, where telepaths in the X-men universe go,like when Professor X battled the Shadow King.
There are two entries people always forget about:
*X-Men: The Official Game* - set between X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand
*Deadpool: No Good Deed* - set between Deadpool and Deadpool 2
Ralph Bohner wasn’t character assassination, he was just a tease. And Drax is awesome
And thank you! Glad you enjoyed!
X-men was the initial group that caught my attention. I am a big fan despite having no idea how the timeline makes sense. You're amazing to do this rundown of the narrative. You are definitely appreciated Sir!"
Bobby's brother was Sooooo salty you could see it in his face! "Why he got powers and I don't?" 🤣🤣🤣 I'm glad that was his only screen time!
Days of future past is my favourite superhero film and gets severely overlooked. I think it functions as a better finally to the x-men than endgame did in the mcu because of the pacing and the way time travel is used.
You did a great job with this. Your insight is incredible. Thank you
X 2 - Magneto and STRIKER....this was so goood!
26:37 YES
Now you are Venturing out into the Wild!
I love it!
Hella underrated franchise IMO. Thanks for covering it! And an hour long video?? What a treat
Ive always enjoyed the X-Men franchise and this video has helped my resolve. Great job!
You did a very good job with this time line bro
Can't wait to see you revisit this after all the timeliness become even more confusing for Deadpool 3
i’m with you on this one. x-men franchise has always been my favorite too.
yeah hank said about the ripple effect but then charles said if enough ripples happen it can change anything or something meta, so theres still potential for it to continue but not if mutants are all dead in logan i dont remember that movie very much, good vid as always Mr Thrifty
It's good to know that there are people who defend Days of Future Past, I love this film and for me it's the best X-Men film of all time and it was the first one I watched in the cinema, I have great affection for this film, for me it is also 10/10.
Thanks for posting this , I’ve only seen the deadpool films and was hesitant to check out the fox universe , but this partially helps
I dont think your Days of Future Past opinion should be controversial. That movie fuckin rules. It definitely deserves to be in the top 5 of best super hero movies
Before I subscribe to any channel I always verify that their other content is in my wheelhouse. After this incredibly well done video on the superhero movies that made me fall in love live action super hero movies, I did not hesitate to subscribe. Others mentioned that you need more credit for this and they are right! Then for me to visit your videos and see you other videos align with some of my other absolute favorite shows and series...??? * Chef's kiss * I will be bingeing every bit of your content.
Flipping loved this video!!!
Really Great Video can’t wait to see what you do next. BTW I liked long video format hope we get more of these type of videos.
Appreciate that! Much more to come!
Same, I love these long videos cuz I can listen to them
The only complaint I have of this awesome timeline video is at 5:02 you mention that "some of the younger actors aren't that great.." then cut to a scene with Anna Paquins character Rouge. Ana was already an Oscar winning actress at that time of her career for the movie 'the Piano'- being one of the youngest EVER actors to win the Award.
Too bad her performance in the X-Men movie was pretty shit.
Awesome video man love this franchise I subbed
I absolutely love the X-Men from Marvel (even though I'm now a massive green lantern fan)
so much so, that I have a detailed fan theory as to how the X-Men could join the Marvel Cinematic Universe:
keep First Class, Days of Future Past, Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix, Deadpool 1 & 2, New Mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline as there is a massive gap between 1963-1995
with the Dark Phoenix cast appearing in Deadpool 1&2, these films can happen after the events of Dark Phoenix and since Essex Corps is referenced in New Mutants, this could happen in the Dark Phoenix timeline
after these events, Professor X uses Cerebro to convince the world that mutants don't exist and erase any new mutant activities from people's minds whenever one is witnessed. however the only person who knows is Nick Fury, who agrees with Professor X to keep tabs on any new mutant activity. this is also referenced in a deleted scene from Iron Man 1, when Nick mentions X-Men
the X-Men can work in secret between 1992 up until Endgame. when Tony Stark snaps his fingers, the mind stone reverses the effects of Professor X's actions. resulting in the public now remembering who the X-Men are
as for Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, Hydra's meddling with the mind stone prematurely reversed Professor X's actions, as it was mentioned that the mind stone unlocks dormant abilities already present in the brain
my theory brings the Dark Phoenix X-Men cast into the MCU, thus eliminating the need to recast the entire X-Men team. the actors are young, they've expressed interest in returning and continuing their roles. it's an option for Marvel Studios to do that
I've explained my theory to a lot of people, most of whom say it works. others say it won't work and demand i should forget everything about the Fox X-Men films and be happy with what Disney/Marvel Studios are going to do with the X-Men
I will probably receive a lot of negative feedback about my theory, nothing is set in stone, if Marvel Studios can bring back JK Simmons as J Jonah Jameson/the Sony Spider-cast, why won't they bring back the Dark Phoenix cast?
there are multiple websites that support my theory, along with the Iron Man 1 deleted post credit scene. not only that, something similar happened in the comics (Robert Reynolds/Sentry and Gabriel Summers/Vulcan)
since Days of Future Past rewrote the timeline, X-trilogy/Wolverine trilogy no longer take place as the ending to Dark Phoenix doesn't connect to the original trilogy, leaving it open for possible future sequels. as I mentioned, the Dark Phoenix cast could return and continue
James McAvoy - Professor X
Michael Fassbender - Magneto
Tye Sheridan - Cyclops
Nicholas Hoult - Beast
Alexandra Shipp - Storm
Kodi Smitt-Mcphee - Nightcrawler
Sophie Turner - Jean Grey
Josh Brolin - Cable
Brianna Hildebrand - NTW
Stefan Kapicic - Colossus
Olivia Munn - Psylocke
Peter Dinklage - Bolivar Trask
Oscar Isaac - Apocalypse
Rose Byrne - Moira McTaggart
Anya Taylor-Joy - Magik
as I've mentioned, in my X-Men MCU timeline, Mystique dies and Quicksilver dies after Avengers 2. the other X-Men characters I don't mind recasting, as long as they keep the cast I mention above aswell as try to follow my fan theory
Listened to the entire thing at work and I gotta say I agree with everything you said. Well done.
The Wolverine is the first Wolverine mini-series in comic books
I've just re-watched them all and have come to really appreciate them
The first MCU started with wolverine and the first X-Men movie
I’m surprised you haven’t made a video about Deadpool 3 yet
Really great video and summary of the X-Men frenchise. I think i have to rewatch it again!
Huge correction Xavier lives watch the credits. Its the body that they showed in the beginning well later Xavier transferred his mind to that body.
Yeah mad he says Hello Moira and She looks at him and Says 😢🥺😰😨😱Charles ?????
12:43 it came out in 2003, X2 came out in 2003, it was a 3 year gap
Plot twist:the jean Wolvering sees in the end of days of future past is Madelyn pyror
I love Professor X, Jean Gray, Rogue, Wolverine and Magneto. STORM is Very cool.
I like liking things and I like those who focus on that… not focusing on knocking what internet-consensus brain tells us that we shouldn’t like… those jokes tend to be old and tired.
no matter how bad some of the movies are X men will always have a special place in my heart
I waited and waited yet you never mentioned it. how could this happen? why haven't you watched it? only evolution? wowzerz
Why would you zoom in on Anna Paquin when saying the younger kids acting wasn't all that. She's an academy award winning actress
Great actors can have bad performances
As for Logan, here’s what I think:
In the DOFP timeline, 2023 was the year when they decide to send Wolverine back to the past in order to stop Mystique from killing Trask.
Who's raven?
Yeah I was asking how Wolverine got his metal claws back in "Days of Future Past"???
