Lyrics
take it easy honey
catch me toeing the line
lost in a role i play
stuck in a video game
armed with a safety pin
overly confident
my skin is airy thin
but my game is rigged to win
i keep my head up
fill up your empty cup
all in the name of love
while you get the hang of
a shade that suits me
it’s not natural beauty
the line of duty
collapses into me
i - lay out all the basic science
i try - to make it fit, it’s mystifying
i can get along - my spine’s a rotted two by four
barely hanging on - my benevolence just hits the floor
i get bored
lord knows i tried
i keep my mind occupied
watch for the falling tide
make an exit on the sly
armed with a memory
surely will stay with me
fragments of misery
feeding off my body
i keep my eyes shut
sage advice to rebut
a blind squirrel finds a nut
mapping out the shortcuts
20 questions
dexterous protesting
& what a blessing
say you’ve been manifesting
i - lay out all the basic science
i try - to make it fit its mystifying
i can get along - my spine’s a rotted 2 by 4
barely hanging on - my benevolence just hits the floor
i get bored
i get bored

Right?!
This song is absolutely addictive! I love it
Female indie rock is where it’s at, lately! So many amazing artists
We r lucky to be alive at the same time as her
Anyone else losing their mind over the simultaneous Waxahatchee & Hurray for the Riff Raff album releases?
No
Im digging this and the new Raffi song TBH
YASSSS!!
"a blind squirrel finds a nut" banger!!!!
This song has quickly become my favorite on the record
she has cracked the code of music
so beautiful
It’s just… so great
My day has vastly improved. Can't wait for the album to come out!
Got my ticket to see Waxahatchee play Dublin in August. Couldn't be happier!
So have I. Only recent discovery but the absolute best discovery ever, cannot wait!
sounds like an outtake from Out in the Storm ….. i’m in love
Def not. That was a great rock album; this is a weak country song.

Another gem from Katie Crutchfield!
Love to see Clay Frankel and Croom on this
She's timeless. It's awesome 👍👍👍
Great to see Spencer Tweedy on drums hope he's in the touring band for Ireland.
Holy shit. So good. Can't wait to hear the rest of the album.
So so proud of you Katie & Ernie! ❤❤❤
Love you Katie ❤. I Have seen you live in concert here in Portland Oregon many times! 🎵🎸🎶🌻
I haven't even listened, and I already know it's perfect
Follow up: I was not disappointed ❤
This song is my song of 2024 so far
Dig it! Spence looks like he's havin fun.
Her voice
i’m so obsessed with this
I really like the vocal layering
A ray of light that never stops filling you up!
One is who...us me you and I loved your albums
Just makes me want that release date to come even quicker!
I wore my Waxahatchee top today and a new song :)
I am so exited for Tigers Blood! This song is amazing. ➡️Katie ⚖️🌈🥰
Devils Backbone Tavern ❤
This video puts a huge grin on me
Hell yes hell yes!!! Cannot wait for the full album
So happy you're back with new material! Sounds great
So happy to have another Waxahatchee album coming. It's been too long
tiger's blood 2 for 2
Real Alanis vibes off this
yes!
Stoked for this record 🥳
Man, this ain't even my kind of music and I'm at a fever pitch waiting for the album to drop.
What a cool and fun song!!❤

Can't wait for the new album ❤
Yes!
Thank you for this!!!!! ❤
The concert at Massey Hall is going to be so good!
WE ARE SO BACK
...but not bored of this
Incredebilly good, indeed §

Excellent, can't wait for the new album
Tickets bought.
CANNOT.WAIT.FOR.THIS.ALBUM
THIS IS AMAZING!!!!! lol im dancing while sitting in my office
A interesting Sheryl Crow "Tuesday Night Music Club" sort of vibe to it.
I hear that too and I think it’s a fair and flattering comparison
Oh she’s all talky and stuff. Lovelyyyyyy
Spencer Tweedy on drums. Sweet!!!
I went to school with Katie's cousin and been a fan since King Everything. My only visible tattoo is a P.S. Eliot tattoo. I used to go see Waxahachee play in garages n such. It's wild to see how far Katie has come.
i love when my favorite artists cover Deftones
Wow.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
dog drink right on bro cheers
hey its ust us aoi!
Hello from Cambodia
If Clay sings MJ’s part of “Right Back to It” on tour, I think I’d pass out
When are you doing NPRs Tiny Desk!!
Pick me up in montana.
is that Spencer Tweedy on drums?
Shout out to devils backbone tavern
Stop comparing her guys, Katie is Katie’s own Katie.
Haha! Smells Like Teen Spirit chorus half step up and flipped (high to low). Homagin’ it!
The opening riff is so similar with The 15th of Wire. By the way it's a great song!!
Who is the woman signing backup?
I can't stand corporate FM Country - I love Wahahatchee.
Hank III
This reminds me of the Pixies for some reason, in a good way.
I think most indie rock bands trace their origins back to the pixies in one way or another, and I agree it’s a great influence
I'm desperately trying to figure out what language this is so I can translate the lyrics
Is that Eliana on the low end?
anyone else here Alanis Mourset?
Thought this might be a Deftones cover.. Still like it haha
Girl keeps getting cuter! It's amazing!
%^)
Came to see from Britney Broski
Vocals are too loud on the highs.
On her low parts its perfect.
Heard this on RSU radio Tulsa OK. 🤙🍻
I noticed that but I figured it was intentional. I think it works. Puts the vocals and lyrics in the forefront
I wanna see her. Not a country fan though 🫤
So you acknowledge that you like her music but you’re not going to let yourself enjoy it because of some preconception about a pointless genre label? Doesn’t sound very smart. Genres are meaningless these days. This song covers a range of genres, and sodas most modern music
...all because this kind of country is higher demanding than indie rock she played before
What kind of accent is that?
Katie's an Alabama gal
@@thebrysmith3she doesn’t have an accent when she talks though
Not my thing, but not bad. :)
Really I think this is her best song since brass beam or silver in my opinion it’s sad to say but I think she went a small bit downhill after out in the storm but once again she has proved with this song that she is one of the best songwriters in the last 20 years
I got this feeling last year with Alex G. get ready for fucking coachella
They’re not playing at fucking Coachella
What's going on with all the fucking swearing
@@DirtyDirkDiggler yeah they are and you are gay for denying kt
Does Dylan way better than Dylan.
First verse is gonna end up in a shampoo commercial.
The Reader's Digest version of country.
The fact that your referencing readers digest probably means you’re a couple decades too old for this lol. BTW it’s not country, dodo
No one asked but I've tried to give this band a chance but the exaggerated country accent irks me and I can't understand a word she's sayin
Overated and hyped good album but great defo not
so corny
Tweedy ripping up the kit
I can see @masonjennings covering this
No one asked but I've tried to give this band a chance but the exaggerated country accent irks me and I can't understand a word she's sayin
She’s from Alabama I’m not sure what you want
@@nathanweiss5058she doesn’t talk with that accent though and she never sung like that on her earlier albums. Her music has definitely acquired a country vibe that feels a little unnatural
I’ve been listening to Waxahatchee since the Cerulean Salt days and that twang is most definitely present even then, idk what you’re talking about. Take one listen to Dixie Cups and Jars and you’ll here it in the first 20 seconds
