Hey Friends... Just a word. In the quiz, #15 of 16, RUclips made me "scrub" the audio, for copyright purposes. That's fine, and fare... You 'all just get a "Freebie" for No. 15!! :-)
True facts about a few of the actors, my aunt dated Ralph Mouth, Cindy Williams came to the casino where my now ex husband once worked, my mom and I had dinner with a couple of guys who worked for Redd Foxx before the show started, my uncle sat behind Gavin Mccloud on a bus and lastly I was face to face with Jack Klugman at the Del Mar Racetrack. He couldn't talk at the time due to his throat cancer.
You're right. Another viewer also mentioned that. Sorry for the mis-step. We try to be accurate, but we messed up. I do appreciate someone with attention to detail!! So thanks for that.
That is a great score. And I'm very glad to hear it give you some nostalgic memories. Frankly, that's the reason I make these "pop culture" videos. Because I love these oldies but goodies, too!
I missed two, so 14/16. Never watched "What's Happening" and never paid much attention to the "Fantasy Island" music, what we all remember is Tattoo's famous line "Look, da plane!"
Thats a great score. The 70's had some awesome TV, and thanks to, what?, Nick At Nite and Tubi and other streamers, we can all enjoy them!! And just for fun, I just dropped our Volume 2, Guess the 70's Show by Theme song. Check it out at: ruclips.net/video/csae0raJ7l4/видео.html
I have to admit, I did miss 2 of these, The Moffets, and Sanford & Son. I remember most if these very well. The Jefferson's was one of my all time favorites. During it's original run, though, many people I knew then said that it was Isabel Sanford, aka Wheezy, who sang the opening theme, Movin' on Up. One good 70's sitcom you did miss, was Good Times. Another of NY favorites wax The Love Boat, which some people thought that it was Gavin McLeod, aka the Captain, who sang the opening theme. As for the closing credits on some episodes, they indicated that the script coordinator was Adam Rich, aka Nicholas Bradford, of Eight is Enough.
Just so you know, Whats Happ and Fant Island are the two most missed, based on my unscientific pole here in the comments. So, anyway, you're in good company. Thanks for playing.
Thank you for the childhood flash back to my favorite time of life. I was born in 1972 so amazing and good programming. I remembered all the theme songs, the last one was a close one almost didn't get it.
Wow, what a nice complement. I'm sooooo happy this let you flash back to a wonderful time. (And thanks for the "good programming" thing too. Very nice.) I have a quiz coming out TODAY (July 21, 2024) that should do the same thing!!! I hope. Thanks for playing...
Yeah. You're right. I kind'a cheated as the Pilot originally aired on NBC on August 24, 1979. But continued all they way until May, 1988. So you're right, but for some reason, we stuck it in the 70's vid??? Thanks for keeping us honest here at PCQ!!
Yes, you are right. I 'typo'ed' above, and said upcoming "60s" videos. Meant to say 70s. Nice catch. I love folks with a clear attention to detail!! (Actually, that show is scheduled for my Vol 3 1970s Quiz. There were so many great shows in that decade!)
The longest one it took me to guess was fantasy island. but 4 seconds is not that long I guess. I know everyone of those theme songs better than any theme song of today.
Four seconds is darn good. And you are complete correct. I mean, Big Bang theory? sure, that is easy. But what ARE the theme songs for Emily in Paris, or Breeders, or The Great, or Ted Lasso??? We don't hear these theme songs...(we click the "Skip Intro" option), and we don't remember them. Its a different world!!
I understand. But seriously, did we ever really listen to the theme songs when the shows were coming on? We were busy using the rest room, or grabbing some soft drink!! Thanks for playing.
Got 15 right, missed Fantasy Island. TV shows today aren't as good today as they were back in the 50's,60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. My top favorite shows were The Waltons, Little House on the Prairie, Emergency, Daniel Boone and Major Dad. The commercials were classic back in those days. I even have my favorite commercials.
We are so on the same page. Pretty obvious why I'm loving making these quizzes. I love these shows, and cartoons, and all this Retro stuff. The shows you mention...will show up in current or future quizzes...I promise you that!! And TV commercials, and TV commercial jingles...its all fun, fun, fun!! Stay tuned!!
13. Missed What's Happening, Fantasy Island, and (though the tune was familiar, I couldn't think of the show fast enough) The Odd Couple. Given I was born in 1983, I'll take it.
13 is good! And you are part of a large group who all missed those two specifically. Not sure why. (Also, since I'm here, I'll tell you that Pop Culture Quizzes just came out with Volume 2 for Iconic 70's TV!! ruclips.net/video/csae0raJ7l4/видео.html Check it out!)
I got 13. I've never hear of "What's Happening." The themes for "WKRP" and "The Odd Couple" sounded familiar and I would have gotten them if they would have been played a little longer. I guess "Facts of Life" could technically be considered a '70s show since it started in 1979, but it is mostly an '80s show.
I use to take my tape recorder was I was younger made tapes full of tv themes every week make lists up from the tv guide on what night which way to tape & what time before they ever had them on cds
13/16. Never watched What's Happening or Fantasy Island... The other miss was Facts of Life... I watched that fairly often, couldn't recognize the theme music quick enough.
This is a great score. And I love your honesty on how well you did. I'm trying to decide if I were to be so honest???!!! It would be so easy to say, "Yep, got'em all right", even if I didn't. So thanks so much for that...and thanks for playing.
Right? we think they are so easy. Funny that lots of folks are missing Fantasy Island. Not sure what it is about that show? Thanks very much for playing!!!
My score was 12 out of 16. I didn't get Sanford and Son because all that I heard of the "theme music" was static, which I don't think was the actual theme. I never watched The Odd Couple or What's Happening, which is why I didn't recognize either of their theme songs (which was actual music, unlike Sanford and Son). And Fantasy Island, I simply forgot what their theme song sounded like. I was a huge fan of the original show. I always got a kick out of Tattoo shouting "The plane, Boss! The plane!" I guess the show didn't get the rerun treatment as much as others have (such a pity). Still, 12 out of 16 isn't bad. Especially considering that 1 of the 4 missed was due to technical difficulties with the channel and not because of my memory or not having seen the show. It really should have been 13 out of 16.
I think 12/16 is a solid score. (And 15, Sanford & Son is a freebie since RUclips made me scrub the song for copyright reasons. ) I started streaming Fantasy Island after I made this quiz video. It’s such a 70’s show!! It’s fun.
Thanks for the feedback. Its actually a little tricky picking out the part of the song to use. Only have 10 seconds, can't make it too easy...and can't make it too obscure. I watched that show all the time as well. Loved it!!
Your very welcome. That is why we do this. So we call can remember a slice of "when things were simpler". The other decade videos are fun to. The 60's, the 80's...
Missing Fantasy Island? That's like going to a pizza party and only getting everything, but missing the cheese filled crust! But hey, at least you got the rest of the toppings! Thanks so much for playing....
Really?? Is that even possible? Too much TV? These are the good ones! Thanks for playing... (Also, Pop Culture Quizzes just came out with Volume 2 for Iconic 70's TV!! ruclips.net/video/csae0raJ7l4/видео.html Check it out!)
Sanford and Sons Audio was muffled so therefore does not count. You did not have the themes from a lot of the 70s shows, like Taxi, Threes Company, Soap, The Six Million Dollar Man, Bionic Woman, Wonder Woman, and many more that would have been a perfect score. This time era was the golden age television.
Hi. You are right. Sanford & Sons is a “freebie” because RUclips made me scrub the song for copyright reasons. As for the other shows, we have released a 1970’s Volume 2 and are producing a Volume 3 as we type. LOTS of great 70’s TV shows.
I will only agree (that you watched too much tv as a kid) if I see you getting 15/16 on the 50's vid, the 60's vid, and the 80's vid. Otherwise, seems to me like you watched 'just the right amount'. (Thanks for playing the quiz game.)
That's awesome! Great job on acing all of them! I have some other 1970's quizzes on the way. Maybe you can ace them too? Keep an eye out for them and thanks for playing.
That’s an interesting point. When we were doing our research , I guess we didn’t look too deeply into what we discovered. Thanks for the background info.
8. I never saw 'What's Happening' and I had completely forgotten 'Fantasy Island' because it's so boring and lame. Glad you didn't do easy ones like 'Brady Bunch', 'Hawaii 5-0' 'Bonanza' or 'Different Strokes'. Though 'Suicide is Painless' is pretty iconic for M*A*S*H.
Funny you say that. Because those are all great shows, and (whispering now...I do use those shows in other videos! Some of those videos are not released yet.) So, keep watching and thanks.
Being a Brit the only ones I got were Charlie's Angels,MASH,the Muppet Show,Happy Days and the Partridge Family. There were several more that I recognised but couldn;t think of the TV show until the answer was revealed (The Love Boat,The Odd Couple, etc.) Like that Jon Sebastian tune a lot.
@@PopCultureQuizzes_ Hi,I've been trying to think of British TV show themes from the 70s,so here's a list of suggestions I've put together: All Creatures Great and Small Animal Magic Are You Being Served? The Avengers/The New Avengers (from the 60s and 70s) BBC's cricket coverage/Test Match Special (still in use today) Black Beauty Blue Peter Coronation Street (in use since the 60s and still today) Crossroads Dad's Army Dixon of Dock Green Doctor in the House/Doctor at Large (from the 60s and 70s) Dr Who (still in use today but the 60s and 70s versions are the best!) Emmerdale Farm (still in use today, soap opers's name shortened to just Emmerdale) Fawlty Towers The Good Life Grandstand It Ain't Half Hot Mum It's a Knockout/Jeux Sans Frontieres ITV News at Ten (still in use today but the 70s/80s version has the most gravitas) Last of the Summer Wine The Liver Birds The Magic Roundabout Magpie Man About the House Man Alive Mastermind Match of the Day (still in use today) Monty Python's Flying Circus The Onedin Line Paddington Bear Panorama (still in use today, slightly altered) The Persuaders Play School Please Sir! Pot Black Rainbow Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) Ski Sunday (still in use today just originally used on the 1976? Winter Olympics) The Sky at Night Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em The South Bank Show Sportsnight Steptoe & Son Tales of the Unexpected The Sweeney That's Life! Tomorrow's World The Two Ronnies Van der Valk Vision On Weekend World Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads? What the Papers Say Whicker's World (60s and 70s) World of Sport The World at War Plus three classic ones I've added three from US programmes that we watched a lot over here: Hawaii Five-O The Rockford Files Thunderbirds (in fact pretty much any of Gerry Anderson's creations, such as Captain Scarlet,Stingray, etc.)
WOWOWOWOWOWOWOW! Darn, that is one big list. I LOVE IT! I'll copy all of these and take them back to our deep, underground Lair, and start working on it!!
@@PopCultureQuizzes_ Thanks. Glad you like it. I thought of one more to add : The Benny Hill Show them - should raise a smirk or two. Would Morecambe & Wise always finishing their show with "Bring Me Sunshine" count?
Come on, I know someone did as poorly as me, so I'll say it. I got 8. A few I recognized but couldn't remember the name. Like Good Times instead of Jeffersons.
Well, actually RUclips made me scrub that song for copyright reasons, a month after I published the video. I mentioned it in the description but I understand folks don’t usually read the description. So no. 15 is a Freebie!! Thanks so much for playing.
Well, you're in luck. Sanford & Son is a "Freebie", as RUclips made me 'scrub' the song audio, for copyright reasons. Thats cool! Such is life. But it means you'all get #15 as a gimm'ie! And, BTW, Fantasy Island is the most missed of them all in this quiz. So you did great!!
That a sold score. And actually you got 13 of 16 as Sanford & Son is a "Freebie", since RUclips made me 'scrub' the song audio, for copyright reasons. Great job!
So sorry for S&S. RUclips made me scrub the song for copyright reasons. So it’s a freebie. I’m trying to let folks know (put a note in the description ) but not too many people read the descriptions!!
Good place to start 🙂 Those of us born in the early 80s got to watch VH1 and Nick at Nite enough to know what these shows were... last I bothered to check, VH1 was all basketball wives, now 😞
That's cool. As "your elder" (that means I'm way older than you...), I'd suggest you should stream some of these 70's and 80's TV shows. They are pretty darn good... Makes you remember 'back in the day', when we did not have cell phones, did not have Social Media, and frankly, we had like, 3 TV channels to watch. But life was simple then. (These are the thoughts of an Old Fart, reminiscing.)
I got every one of them right, because I watch(ed) everyone of them, except Charlie's Angels, I didn't like that show at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I knew that one, because my sister used to watch that show!! A lot of these shows I still watch today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Friends... Just a word. In the quiz, #15 of 16, RUclips made me "scrub" the audio, for copyright purposes. That's fine, and fare... You 'all just get a "Freebie" for No. 15!! :-)

Fun fact the Happy Days theme wasn't used until the second season. They used Rock around the clock in the first season.

14 out of 16. not bad seeing as i was born in '75 and these would have been in reruns when i saw them
That’s a great score. Congrats.
I use to take my tape recorder was I was younger made tapes full of tv themes every week make lists up from the tv guide on what night which way to tape & what time before they ever had them on cds
That’s a great story!! I was never that ambitious! Thanks for sharing and for playing.

I got 15 out of 16. I always thought the Partridge Family came out in the 60s, but I guess I was wrong.
Thats a great score. the Partridge Family first aired September 25, 1970...so was the 70's but not by much!!!! thanks for playing.
The "Sanford and Son" theme was by Quincy Jones.........."WKRP" reminds me of the hugest crush I had on Jan Smithers ("Bailey Quarters")
That is such a sweet sentiment. about the crush. thanks for sharing that!!

I got 12, this started out real easy, then got harder as you went along.
Actually, that was what I was going for...We can't make it too easy, right? Nice job and thanks for playing our quizzes.

10 out of 16... for somebody born just after the decade ended, that's pretty dang good I think!
I think so too. Try the 1980's TV show quiz. That may have some more recognizable shows...

Damn, I watched all 16. However, I only got 13 themes, missing Facts of Life, Fantasy Island and What's Happening.
Right? we think they are so easy. Funny that lots of folks are missing Fantasy Island. Not sure what it is about that show? Thanks very much for playing!!!
Hi 1970's TV Quiz fans, Pop Culture Quizzes just came out with Volume 2 for Iconic 70's TV!! ruclips.net/video/csae0raJ7l4/видео.html Check it out!
It’s fun.
Got em all right..
Perfect. Well done. And thanks for playing.
Fantasy Island was very hard. I don’t even remember that part of the theme song and I watched that show all the time.
Thanks for the feedback. Its actually a little tricky picking out the part of the song to use. Only have 10 seconds, can't make it too easy...and can't make it too obscure. I watched that show all the time as well. Loved it!!

15/16 I got all except for WKRP, which I never watched.
Great score, and I loved (singing in my head right now), "W-K-R-P....in Cin-cin-a-aa-tti-eeie" Thanks for playing.

16/16. These shows premiered while I was in elementary school. M*A*S*H, The Facts of Life, The Jeffersons, and a few others lasted into high school.
Ahh. I see you took the 70's Quiz. And aced it. Nice work, and thanks for playing all the quizzes....
I loved MASH. Watched it all the time.

Missed Fantasy Island but got the Rest
Missing Fantasy Island? That's like going to a pizza party and only getting everything, but missing the cheese filled crust! But hey, at least you got the rest of the toppings! Thanks so much for playing....

I missed What's Happening and Fantasy Island bc memory fails. I missed Sanford and Son ONLY because the music wasn't coming through, only static.
Hey. Sanford and Sons is a “gimmy” because RUclips made me scrub the music for copyright reasons. But great score !!!
@@PopCultureQuizzes_
Thanks for the reply. Well I guess they gotta do what they gotta do. Rules are rules.
i got all but 2. I wasn't a fan of WHat's Happening or The Odd Couple. The rest were staples in my household growing up.
Same here. But What’s Happening is the most missed of this quiz. Thanks so much for playing.
Wow ! I watch to much tv 14/16 right...lol. Most of theses shows are still on rabbit ears/antenna's or on Pluto or Tubi

15 out of 16
Very nice!! Nearly aced it. Thanks so much for joining us here on our little Channel that Could (we hope!)
14 out of 16. Had no idea on the Muppet show and drew a blank on fantasy island
Great job on getting 14 out of 16! Those were tricky ones.

I got them all right
Perfect! Nice work. But the word on the RUclips street is that the 1970's Volume 2 quiz is harder. Have you tried that one?
15/16. Forgot the Fantasy Island theme
Nice work. And I've said this in these comments a few times, but Fantasy Island is one of the most commonly missed ones! Who knew? Thanks for playing.
Hi 1970's TV Quiz fans, Pop Culture Quizzes just came out with Volume 2 for Iconic 70's TV!! ruclips.net/video/csae0raJ7l4/видео.html Check it out!
15 out of 16. Watched too much tv as a kid.
I will only agree (that you watched too much tv as a kid) if I see you getting 15/16 on the 50's vid, the 60's vid, and the 80's vid. Otherwise, seems to me like you watched 'just the right amount'. (Thanks for playing the quiz game.)

I don't think any Cowsill songs made it onto The Partridge Family
That’s an interesting point. When we were doing our research , I guess we didn’t look too deeply into what we discovered. Thanks for the background info.
Got 14
...of 16. Thats a great score. Don't forget to give some of the other quizzes a shot. Some are harder...some easier...
10/16
Ok, so not fantastic. But if you had a few minutes of nostalgia, than it hopefully was worth it. Thank for joining us.
15 of 16 I missed on fantasy island

Interesting. I just replied to another from the UK. Should we do a UK quiz? What shows should I include???
@@PopCultureQuizzes_ Hi,I've been trying to think of British TV show themes from the 70s,so here's a list of suggestions I've put together:

The Avengers/The New Avengers (from the 60s and 70s)
BBC's cricket coverage/Test Match Special (still in use today)
Black Beauty

Coronation Street (in use since the 60s and still today)
Crossroads
Dad's Army
Dixon of Dock Green
Doctor in the House/Doctor at Large (from the 60s and 70s)
Dr Who (still in use today but the 60s and 70s versions are the best!)
Emmerdale Farm (still in use today, soap opers's name shortened to just Emmerdale)
Fawlty Towers
The Good Life
Grandstand
It Ain't Half Hot Mum
It's a Knockout/Jeux Sans Frontieres
ITV News at Ten (still in use today but the 70s/80s version has the most gravitas)
Last of the Summer Wine
The Liver Birds
The Magic Roundabout
Magpie
Man About the House
Man Alive
Mastermind
Match of the Day (still in use today)
Monty Python's Flying Circus
The Onedin Line
Paddington Bear
Panorama (still in use today, slightly altered)

Tales of the Unexpected
The Sweeney
That's Life!
Tomorrow's World
The Two Ronnies

Vision On
Weekend World
Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?
What the Papers Say
Whicker's World (60s and 70s)
World of Sport
The World at War
Plus three classic ones I've added three from US programmes that we watched a lot over here:
Hawaii Five-O
The Rockford Files
Thunderbirds (in fact pretty much any of Gerry Anderson's creations, such as Captain Scarlet,Stingray, etc.)

I got 8. A few I recognized but couldn't remember the name. Like Good Times instead of Jeffersons.

think you goofed with the sanford and son theme, just heard static
Well, actually RUclips made me scrub that song for copyright reasons, a month after I published the video. I mentioned it in the description but I understand folks don’t usually read the description. So no. 15 is a Freebie!! Thanks so much for playing.

Couldn't get Sanford and Son or Fantasy Island
Well, you're in luck. Sanford & Son is a "Freebie", as RUclips made me 'scrub' the song audio, for copyright reasons. Thats cool! Such is life. But it means you'all get #15 as a gimm'ie! And, BTW, Fantasy Island is the most missed of them all in this quiz. So you did great!!
12/16
That a sold score. And actually you got 13 of 16 as Sanford & Son is a "Freebie", since RUclips made me 'scrub' the song audio, for copyright reasons. Great job!

Good place to start 🙂
Those of us born in the early 80s got to watch VH1 and Nick at Nite enough to know what these shows were... last I bothered to check, VH1 was all basketball wives, now 😞
That's cool.
