Shawn, I just wanted to tell ya that, in addition to being one helluva woodworker, you are a natural educator, with an easy, non-intimidating way of making everything you do seem simple. Your videos play so regularly in the background any time I'm in my little shop that I've actually grown accustomed to hearing your voice. Thanks for all you do, man. It never goes unappreciated!

I laughed when you gave the “staring at the front tire analogy”. That is exactly what I did in learning to ride a bike in the early 60’s-I was staring at the front tire and ran into the back of a parked car which then ended me up on the trunk of the car-oh did that ever hurt. That taught me to look ahead of the front tire.😎🤟 Good analogy!

Once again, no way I'm watching an hour and five minutes of video. And then I did. With the speed set to 1.5 mind you, but I did watch it. And even though I'm very familiar with my band saw and my carving knife, I still picked up a lot of tips. Not to mention the inspiration. Maybe spatulas will be my Christmas presents this year, eh. So thanks for this. Another great video.

Shawn, thanks for the video. Even though I’ve used a bandsaw a lot for years, I gained quite a few tips that my experienced brain missed over those years. Also learned a lot from the knife section. Haven’t used one too much in the past, probably because I was always using it wrong. Now I may try again, once I get a proper knife for doing so. Thanks again. Stay safe and well so you can keep the videos coming. Cheers, Tom

The scandinavian grind on the Mora is better for woodworking than the micro bevel on the Buck. It is a lot more delicate though. I have been looking into bushcraft, and the scandi grind is preferred.

Great video, as soon as I get a band saw I have a nice beginner project. This was excellent tutorial for band saw technique. You didn't mention how tall of a piece of wood you can cut with that particular model. It looks higher than the five inches they indicate on Rikon's website.

@@BradsWorkbench That comes from watching experienced/professionals using any tool and especially lathes. The aggressiveness, speed and seeing the chips fly makes you feel that is how it is suppose to be done. Fine WHEN you become experienced/professional you can do that when doing demonstrations/videos because it;s impressive. Slow down and learn how the tool is working. No race to be run here.

2:50 I was told if you cut wide boards into narrow ones, when you get to Heaven, God will make you stand way in the back.
32:08 If you set that board on the 3/4" side instead of the 3" side, you will reduce the angle and have less waste.
