    The Tecovas Cartwright punches above its weight when it comes to quality for the price. The quality is on par with boots that cost $100-$200 more. The leather is soft and supple and the style is a blend of traditional and modern.
    This Tecovas boot has shown me the light of cowboy boots.

    The stitching on the toe is called the bug. It’s purpose is to allow the toe to break in comfortably without forming a crease.

    Welcome to the world of cowboy boots! I got the black Cartwrights second hand off of Ebay, and I love them! Black cowboy boots are my favorite! I wore them a lot when I was kid! Then I stopped wearing boots during my teen years and then, after 2 decades, I got back into wearing them again.

    Tecovas are good for the money. I got a pair of smooth ostrich Tecovas that were under $300. Very comfortable and super nice. I would not try to work in them or do anything that would put harsh wear on them… but if you like western wear and want a nice pair of boots for normal wear they are a great buy. My dad was a cowboy and he always wore Justin boots for dirty work, and Tony Lama for cowboying as early as 1951. Lucky me that I only wear them for fashion. Cowboy work is tough. Lol

    I purchased two pairs of Tecovas. The Cartwright and The Doc.
    The Cartwrights are the pointy traditional cowboy style. These boots are very comfortable, and they fit slightly tougher than the other model that I purchased. The Doc has a square tip, and it fits more loosely than the Cartwright. However, they are so comfortable that you believe you are not wearing a boot but a flip flap.
    The leather is so smooth and flexible that it feels more like you have been wearing them for a very long time.
    These two pairs are hands down the best boots that I have ever worn.
    I had to edit my posting because I forgot to mention that once your soles or heels are worn, the factory will resole them for free.

    Just curious if you’ve been bitten by the bug and are planning on buying any more western boots for the channel? My first pair were a pair of Ariat Workhog that obviously I wore to work when I was in the field. I wouldn’t say that I loved those boots but I did become curious with the style. I’m now in the office & after a trip to Nashville in June and visiting the Tecovas store, my wife picked up their “Roy” for me. I really wanted the “Nick” but those were really hard to find in my size as they were a limited run.
    I’ve been bitten and have a pair of the Thursday Desperados in Arizona Adobe coming for Christmas. I wanted something of an everyday western boot with the comfort, style and a rubber sole that can withstand the elements better.
    My next western will be a roper, either Tecovas “Earl” in Stout Bovine or if I like the Thursday, their “Frontier” in Brown for dressier occasions.

    I've always liked cowboy boots. I think they look great. I'd like to wear a pair every now and then, but I'm no cowboy. I drive a pickup, sure, but I don't listen to country music (or western) 🌵. I'm just not sure I could pull it off. It seems to be working just fine for Billy though... maybe I'm over-thinking it. (Loved the whip sound effect at the end of the video. Nice touch 👌)

    • @BootSpy
      @BootSpy  2 года назад +7

      Yeah, I definitely thought the same. When you're wearing them, they don't really look all that different from any other pair of boots. Thanks for watching!

    • @culichi0776
      @culichi0776 2 года назад +10

      Yes, you are over thinking it. You don't need to be a cowboy to wear the boots just like you don't need to be a basketball player to wear basketball sneakers. I own 15 pairs of cowboy boots (some I've had for over 15 years). You will enjoy them. If you find the right fit they feel like a comfortable pair of sandals.

    • @teddyperkins3406

      @@seanc5878 cowboy boots are supposed to be put on/off by simply sliding your foot into/out of them, and because of that, they will never provide the same compression that a lace-up pair of boots can. a pair of lace-ups allows you to further tighten the boot once your foot is already inside. I still like cowboy boots, but they just cant provide the same snug feel that lace-ups can

      @@teddyperkins3406 "cowboy boots are supposed to be put on/off by simply sliding your foot into/out of them"
      Not exactly. If they slide on and off easily they don't fit correctly. A proper fitting boot takes force to put the foot into it and fits like a glove when properly fitted. You should actually hear a _whoosh_ of air from your foot going into the boot, it's that snug. So yeah, Idk where you got this idea that cowboy boots aren't supposed to fit the foot snugly but it couldn't be further from the truth.

    • @seanc5878
      @seanc5878 2 года назад +4

      @@teddyperkins3406all the air in the boot should go out when you put your boot on actually giving you a quite nice snug fit against the vamp and you should hear a little pop when you put it on, and taking off boots shouldn’t be as easy as slipping them off

    Lucchese makes the best cowboy boot available, imo. I’ve also owned Justin, Tony Lamas, Tecovas and Frye. I own 6 sets of Lucchese ranging from 300-1000 per pair. My oldest set are over 20 years old and have been re-soled twice. I have one set of Tecovas for a specific color. They’re very nice but just not as great quality. I slip on a new pair of Lucchese and it’s like putting on an old friend. Take the plunge. You won’t be sorry.

      Unnecessarily rude comment. I literally grew up wearing cowboy boots being born in western Colorado in the 50’s. They are purpose built footwear that are designed for spending hours in the saddle, not rucking 30 miles through rough terrain. The toes are narrow so they slip in and more importantly out of stirrups. If toes are square or bulky they can hang up in the stirrup. If you’re thrown from the horse you can be dragged all over the west if your foot doesn’t come free. Likewise the high heel keeps the foot from sliding through the stirrup. The boots are high to protect your calf from the constant friction rubbing on the saddle. You really should wear cowboy boots with boot cut jeans and the inseam should be long. The jeans should touch the ground at the back of the heal and bunch up a bit at the front. Most guys wear their jeans too short. Never cuff your jeans. There are times when tucking your jeans inside your boots is acceptable. Never do it until you’ve been around enough to know when those times are.
