I would like to suggest an iconic Nightwish song little known to new fans. The name of the song is "Beauty of the beast" (yes, it is "of" the beast). It is from the Century Child album and only Tarja sang it live, however, I suggest the studio version. The band made some changes to perform the song live and I didn't like those changes very much. There are lyric videos to accompany the poetic content of the message. "Beauty of the beast" has a similar level to "Ghost love score" in epicness. I think a lot of new fans don't know the song, because they prefer to focus on live performances with Floor. There are some gems that will not be known if you don't listen to the albums.
Once again a request to please react to Pharaoh Sails To Orion! Different gear, guest singer/growler, very different feel for a Nightwish song and definitely a good one to check out!
Century Child was the first Nightwish album I ever heard, over 15 years ago. This song and Dead to the World were ones that really grabbed me, and they still do!
Honestly, you don't truly see marko head bang all to much in nightwish, he'll give head nods to the beat, but in this song he is really swaying his glorious viking hair.
This was probably their angriest song until master passion greed. After all the last line of this song is "I truly hate you all." And while a lot of people are thrown off by the DPP pendulum, I can see why they used it. It's symbolic, which follows the theme of an artist being viciously criticized and/or attacked, while being misunderstood. Essentially being wrongfully put to death.
Wanna hear the most underated song of NW??? no need to make a reaction, keep to yourself, but "Greek Mary blood" from the End of an Era, you will get what i say the moment you are done. music is beautiful and lyrics are even more. the message on that song is powerful. thing you may like it
Century Child will forever be one of my favorite albums and Slaying The Dream is one of my favorite songs. I love both Floor's and Tarja's version. Floor's distortions are really fitting here but for me, Tarja's voice is just such a contrast to the music and the theme of the songs that for me, hers is the more interesting (I don't want to say better because it's not, just different) version. Great reaction, I just really love watching you bang your head to some killer Nightwish songs
Marko singing and doing runs on his bass at the same time, and he doesn't look down on the fretboard like so many other guitarists do - Think it was Chase who pointed that out. Skill as a guitarist and bass player, voice control when he is singing - You could elaborate on that almost endlessly, so to save ourselves time and effort lets just agree that he is a rock solid musician. Cheers / B.
Another great one. Yet again it’s you and Nightwish. Can’t go wrong Next up The Siren, Meadows of Heaven, Sleeping Sun (Double), 10th Man Down (Double), While Your Lips Are Still Red (Double, Valentines Day special), Creek Mary’s Blood, something from From Wishes to Eternity I think they are definitely thinking about it. Hence the absolutely awesome performance. They gave it their all
Gotta love that you didn't edit out the flame shaming parts :D On this song, I thing Tarja is much more on fire (pun intended), usually I don't have a huge preference but on this one I think this is a Tarja voice. It's that witchy voice! Awesome as always, Tank!
Wooo. This song is fire and always gets me pumped up while working. I prefer the End of an Era version myself, but they’re both great, with both singers. I think End of an Era just feels like it has a lot more energy in it. I think you made this reference before, but I also feel like this is a Tarja song for sure in my opinion. But of course, Floor absolutely nails anything she sings so it doesn’t even matter. Cheers man, thanks for this reaction! I’m not sure if you really base what you react to on the comments, but I’ve recommended Élan for awhile here ;D. Great song for sure, gets me emotional every time it seems like but I love it. Tampere or Wembley are my go-to for live versions.
Great video as always. Love that you pointed out how capable Marco is in playing while singing. Really hope you discover Tarot soon, so you can really hear how re'Marko'ble he is 😀
I didn't remember those cringy flame effects on the end of an era video, so I actually just grabbed my copy of the DVD to check. . . and yah, the flames are there. Ha ha.
I also grabbed my copy of that DVD and yes there were flames in this song and also some others. This was also such a memory lane. I was there and the DVD contains some footage of young me and my friends in the crowd.
Glad to see the double reaction for this one! For me, the difference in the two is actually Marko's vocals. Not to diminish his performance on the Buenos Aires version because he slayed it (pun absolutely intended), but you can hear all the frustration and rage pouring out of him on the End of an Era version. You just cannot replicate that. I'm not a vocalist so I can't analyze much more than that, but he had an extra gear of rage on EoaE that completely separates it for me.
Man it’s heartbreaking to know Marco has left the band. The news came out the very same day that they announced (via Hot Press) a European tour in the end of the year which (for the first time ever) features a gig in Ireland 🇮🇪 where I live. I’ve never seen Nightwish live to see my hero, Marco and now I never will. Marco inspired me to be a bass player way back when I was like 11. Apart from the first 2 years I have played Warwick all my musical life. It is truly truly heartbreaking. I literally cried when both pieces of news came out.
I have heard that playing bass and singing is not an easy task. And now I understand that playing bass in a highly technical fashion would be so much more difficult.
I wouldn't say that either of these singers "killed it," coincidentally, they were both sick in their respective videos and they both handled their respective sets like a champ. They've both also done way better on this song.
Saying it again because why not? Gethsemane, live in Helsinki 1999 and Buenos Aires Decades tour. You might finally get to say something new about their gear! And it's an awesome, underrated, rarely reacted to song.

I'm deep down in this lovely pit by now, but if you have not heard Walking in the Air, please watch it, so that I can watch you drift away into the dreamy hymn!
If you want to try some real old school Nightwish might I recommend Pharoh Sails to Orion. It is pre Marko so you will see Sami (I believe for the first time) on bass. Also as an added bonus it has Tapio Wilska doing guest harsh vocals. Tapio had a big part in them getting there first record deal and roadied for them for a couple of years when he was between bands. For me this was the first time hearing what I would come to think of as the Epica sound with classical female soprano & harsh male vocals.

I just listened to Meadows of Heaven for the first time a week ago and it blew me away. I’ve been listening to it non-stop. Gorgeous song! Too bad they didn’t really perform it live except for that one time.
This is the one song where Tarja owns the song, it was written perfectly for her style, I like Floors performance but it’s truly the only performance where I’d rather be hearing Tarja. | Always love your reactions and breakdown | Much love, peace & Respect | Stay safe
Tuomas has said this is still one of his favorite concerts. I have a couple friends been there and they told the atmosphere was out of the roof and you can see that too.
YAS! This is the first Nightwish song I ever listened to! Seeing it performed live during the decades tour was an incredible rush for me. It's such a brutal song and whenever I hear people say 'Nightwish don't do much heavy stuff' I point them at this. That drop with the psycho sound effect behind it is so good!
Nobody really knows the connection of this pendulum in Slaying the Dreamer, but the lyrics of the song have a proto Master Passion Greed feel and even before Tarja's departure it was known that Tuomas had some issues with Marcelo, Tarja's husband (as well as some other people from record labels), so maybe this song is for him as well. And given the connection between The Poet and the Pendulum, Master Passion Greed and Bye Bye Beautiful... Who knows?
They were definitely thinking about it. If you watch the whole show, there is this strange and tense atmosphere. Even people who know nothing about the history of the band notice that something is wrong. When they switch positions on stage they sometimes look like they are running away from her.
One of the few cases where I massively prefer Tarja's vocals over Floor's. Reason is the contrast between the operatic and metal sounds. It really does it for me.
Looks like their first live release From Wishes to Eternity (Tampere 2000) has evaded you after all this time... just thought I should bring it to your attention))))))

U finally did it! Thank youuuuuu. Now, why don't you try "the siren"????
No man End of an Era all the way
Tank lecturing about atmospheric pressure. Gold.
😂
This is the one song where Tarja owns the song, it was written perfectly for her style, I like Floors performance but it’s truly the only performance where I’d rather be hearing Tarja. | Always love your reactions and breakdown | Much love, peace & Respect | Stay safe
Floor lookin 🔥 in that outfit!!!!
You're not wrong on old school, I always get Deep Purple vibes when I listen to this
Tuomas has said this is still one of his favorite concerts.
This was amazing reaction Tank absolutely loved it. This is one of my favorite songs. Thank you 💜🤘😋
Wow Tarja is a amazing singer too. 💪😍
Hahahhaah Tarja is the only one singer here... the original, the most powerfull.
Who knows?
next go for Sahara live at Tampa Florida pls
Is it me, or are there more NIghtwish reactions now that Nightwish Wednesday is over?
They were definitely thinking about it. If you watch the whole show, there is this strange and tense atmosphere. Even people who know nothing about the history of the band notice that something is wrong. When they switch positions on stage they sometimes look like they are running away from her.
Yay Nightwish!
Finding good quality uploads to use is probably an issue there
@@TheWiseGrif Not really: when there is a will (and a DVD), there is always a way (for someone to upload it) ))))
There is a pretty good 'remastered' upload of that DVD already
One of the few songs that are written for Tarja alone. Though I am not into that F. vs. A. vs. T. bs this one here lives from Tarjas timbre imho.
heh the F.A.T. debate
Awesome finally suddenly day got interesting again
I didn't like this song, I thought it was too heavy when I first listened to this album in 2002, this was my first album with Nightwish. However, now I like more heavy stuff and I love this song :)
i love the sound of emppus riffs in this one....just pure gold
Well, Marko does have 40 years experience playing bass and singing, that helps.
Very true.
Two beautiful versions from two great singers and a great band. And yes, you are 100% right. Both while different in style sound awesome and it is great to have them both to listen to. Thanks for doing this type of reaction.
Yeah this is one of their earlier songs from 2002. Their sound has since... evolved.
Talking of singing and playing bass at the same time... I wonder if Geddy Lee would consider filling in for Marko?
Yes! I’m one of those been asking for this for ages lol. I love the nostalgia personally. Special song for me as seeing live in a 1000 capacity venue was unreal!
Can't stress this enough: I'm a huge fan of Floor's, have been since early After Forever.
But some songs are just made for Tarja. ^^
I still think you would appreciate Creek Mary's Blood from End of an Era. There is an extra surprise there for you.
Not one I see requested often but a great one in my opinion
Floor enters "Last Boss" mode when this song picks up
16:16 Tuomas cries in Everdream and you can see there's something going on at one point during Wish I Had An Angel
Weird as she didn't know at this point that she was getting fired - it happened after the gig. The rest of them knew during it though.
@AllieB-11.11 Yeah she didn't but look at Jukka in Wish I Had An Angel, also "this night will hurt you like never before" turned into such a sick reference lol
Here to show my everlasting love for tarja
Hi Tank Floor was still under the weather at this concert . Dead boy's Poem is awesome at Buenos Aires and End of an Era. In Buenos Aires Floor just stands there with her arms out wide. I think she looks Regal and her arm moves with the music. She designed her out fit and somebody makes it for her. I like Marko and Floor singing the I hate you together better than Marko by himself.
