@@lea-anne9133 you misunderstood, this was not meant as contest, it was mearly to show, how a different interpretation of a song can make a whole lot of difference. Both versions hit me in the feels, but oh so differently ;)
I was just about to post the same, but as always I check the comments to see if someone already has. Every time Song of Myself rings, dearest Ann smiles and sings 💛
Before you even start I make my suggestion for the next time: Dead Boy's Poem! [Edit: Live in Buenos Aires! Thx Harold for pointing it out!] (Who would have guessed? :D) The song has an emotional Floor, a double neck playing Marko, a Troy who does Troy things and a wonderful guitar solo by Emppu. I don't know what else you need in a Nightwish song. The composition is out of this world, of course. I'm a 100% positive that this is a great reaction, because Song of Myself is a great song. Will leave my opinion later :D Edit: awesome reaction! I knew you'd love thar song! And when you started headbanging I was shouting YES!!!! :D question about Emppu's guitar(s): wasn't there one reaction that you did where he did not play his EV-1? Don't know which song it was, but I think there was one.
I never really cared for that song but man, I was there that night in Buenos Aires and it was mind blowing...the arrangements and changes in that version and the emotional singing from Floor was just too much...that ending is incredible...
Wish I Had An Angel triple reaction? Fantasmic reaction? Any Nightwish song, really, is going to be great! Also, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks he looks like the Dead Man.
Recommendations: Dead Boy's Poem (Buenos Aires), Last of the Wilds (Wacken), While your lips are still red (Wembley), Creek Mary's Blood (End of an Era; there are 2 versions, short and long version, the longer version is about 12 minutes), Weak Fantasy (Tampere)
If you want some metal ballad - please try: "Sleeping Sun" or "Bless the Child" - an please ... do it in a "Double Reaction" way - both - the Floor and the Tarja versions are remarkable (i mean to double primarily "Sleeping Sun", but it could mean any of that songs). And if you want some power ballad drama - try "Dead Boy's Poem" by Floor in Buenos Aires..
Yes! Please do Bless the Child, one of my favorites from this Wacken concert and you get to see Floor, Marko, and Tuomas all headbanging in the same camera shot! Seriously, though this one rarely gets reacted too and I think Floor kills this one. This one is often seen as a Tarja favorite so it wouldn't be bad to do a double reaction as well.
It's an abrupt ending because the album version features a poetry / spoken word part that is not included in the live setup. As for next week, as others have already suggested, "Dead Boy's Poem" or maybe "Deep Silent Complete" [both from the Decades DVD]
I'd suggest Sahara live at Tampa. It is not typically a song a lot of people react to, however it would offer you the chance to talk about some gear you haven't seen nightwish use yet and in my opinion the song is criminally underrated.
I tend to think Alpenglow is a perfect lead up to Greatest Show on Earth; and, it seems like very few reactors ever get to it, much less do it first. (Also, there's an official live release on Nightwish's channel; so, no worries about versions with bad transfer to RUclips.)
Personally, I think your last one before GSOE should be either My Walden or Alpenglow. Leaning more towards Alpenglow because of the subject matter. Great video as always, and will be tuning in next week to see what you pick!
Please do "weak fantasy", it is a song with a sick intro. Preferably the Wembly version, I just like how crisp the song sounds in that version. Or do "Master passion greed", Marko sounds wicked in it. Wish they would do that live.
I second Weak Fantasy, although the Tampere version would be my preference. Love Tuomas headbanging in that one! Whichever version you pick, can't go wrong though.
RIP Ann, Mother of Nightwish-Family. "And there forever remains that change from G to E minor" oh how i love the album version for the last part. It makes the song so much deeper imho. And of course thank you for the great reaction =)
There’s a wicked live version of Sahara with floor fronting the band. Such and awesome song from Annette Era and the live version with Floor is amazing.
Tank: "I can tell its a Buzzard, just by looking at the headstock" *shows picture of headstock* me: Well yeah buddy, it says BUZZARD in big letters on the headstock... I know you meant the shape but that just made me chuckle :D btw your general hardware knowledge is insane, mad respect.
I feel like we need to include Her Majesty in the gear talk. "Floor is using her insane vocals, unbelievable breath control, a random mic and a 125 Watt floor fan" 🌪
I think that this song shows the talents of each individual member of Nightwish - & it shows off how metal & symphonic operatic singing mix & it has pyro! That’s why it’s so popular
Nightwish - Slayin the Dreamer - End of Era and Decades (Buenos Aires). I havent seen single people react to Slayin the Dreamer end of era one, imo best performance by Tarja and Marko singin like its last day of the band (which was kinda true that time). Spoiler: Emppu is killing the guitar and Marko ends song with famous Finnish word "Perkele" which means God of Thunder
Defnitely needs End of an Era for that one. Floor is amazing, but Slaying the Dreamer is one of those Tarja songs (where she belts as well!) that was made especially for her. The ending part in particular feels a bit too thin with Floor's voice, but very natural hearing Tarja do it.
Your "Let's go" always amuses me. It's a weird mix of enthusiastic yet low-energy. Also, you know you're a fan once you start being able to pinpoint albums even if you haven't heard them yet, picking up on style alone.
Master Passion Greed. Heaviest(?) Nightwish song sung mainly by Marko. Sadly there's no live version and never will be, you might want to do some research before reacting to it.
Main recommendation: listen to the album version of this song (Song of Myself). The full 12min and 37 seconds. The end/second half that is not played live truly elevates this song imo.
Thematically, most fitting song to lead up towards Greatest Show on Earth would be Shudder Before the Beautiful, imo. High energy, feelgood, still goes hard.
You should really check Sacrament of Wilderness Live from Buenos Aires (Floor) or the DVD From Wishes to Eternity (Tarja). A fast song where Emppu shows a little bit more of what he can do.
Greatest show . You gonna be blown away. Especially your knowledge bout all that goes on with production. There is no way im gonna spoil this for you . Just say they pull off some things , incredible. Only Thomas can can come up with this , and props to everyone backstage that makes it so incredible.
Hey, you spoke just to me, "Justin Case, it's Nightwish Wednesday!" Sweet! \m/ "Sometimes the within, is piano black..." Still hits me right in the stones every time I hear this. Great reaction!
I'm just here to express my appreciation to Jukka and the immense energy and power I feel everytime I see him play! Love your reaction as always, can't wait for the next one 👍

Today I react because I did it, I said it with you this time ESP hahahaha. Thank you once again for this amazing reaction and all of your reactions.. I love them :)
The Pharaoh sails to Orion (2000, From Wishes to Eternity DVD). OG Nightwish with Tarja and no Marko but featuring Tapio Wilska as guest vocalist. Emppu was also playing different guitar that time.
Agree totally! Not sure how many Wednesdays there are left before GSOE but Alpenglow and Weak fantasy are both essential precursors in my view. Not to hate on the other suggestions they are all great but they can be done later.
I REALLY enjoy Nightwish Wednesdays, takes me away from work during my lunch break. It became therapeutical to finish up the remainder of the day. Keep Up The Good Work.
I've been watching your nightwish reaction videos now (will do most of the others, but the Nightwish ones first because... Nightwish!) And the more I watch the more I miss going to live concerts, because the best concerts I have been to (excluding festival concerts here) were Nightwish concerts. Thanks for the nostalgia!
This song speaks to me in an very deep emotional level; everytime I hear it, I'm already tearing up by the time the first chorus comes. My vote would be for "Alpenglow" at Wembley, it's a simple-yet-effective, but beautiful song, and because it has a lyrical co-relation with TGSOE. Might be fun.
I love the little details included in Nightwish's compositions, including what the drummer puts out. Like in "Ghost Love Score" actually using the chimes while in this song Jukka regularly hits the cow-bell on the off-beat.
"And there forever remains that change from G to E minor....." One of my favourites! Thank you for this Tank 🌷! It goes hand in hand storywise with Ghost River for me and is of course enhanced through the movie! Love this!
Tank, a little personal point. I know it´s impossible, but it´s a pity that the final movement of this song is not played at concerts. Because, as I got used to the whole thing when listening to the CD, it forms one complete experience that gives more meaning when played together. Without it it´s just a perfect head banger, but with that final movement it can be recognized as a song from the same category as Ghost Love Score, The Poet and the Pendulum, and The Greatest Show on Earth. It´s not a song anymore, it´s a composition with deep, deep meaning. So I suggest listening to the whole thing privately, I think you will agree with me. And then on the album comes the final song, which is completely orchestral, and recapitulates every song from the album in short bits, and you feel a kind of nostalgia. Such a great experience, I recommend that too, when you have heard every song from the album, and got to know them. Looking forward to your next Nightwish reaction, other guys recommended Dead Boys Poem - all I can say is that it is a hidden gem.
Anything from the Once era holds a special place in my heart because thats when I first heard Nightwish in Finland. I Wish I Had an Angel from End of an Era is great. Dark Chest of Wonders from Wacken is badass!! They have a live video of Last of the Wilds too, its all instrumental and shows Troy a ton of love while showing different set ups from different shows. Dead Boy's Poem too!!! So many options 😂 Love the reactions man!! Cant wait to see you do Greatest Show.
I still think you should do the closer, Last Ride of the day at Wacken. You want Pyro, you get Pyro. I would love see you do it as a double reaction with the opener, dark chest of Wonders. This band knows how to open and close a show.
Definitely voting for Dead Boys Poem for next Wednesday! Another grest reaction from an awesome reactor. One last thing...when are you and Chase going to do a dual reaction?
Aaaaahh! Every Wednesday I’m holding my breath for “Greastest show on earth”. I would honestly say I feel it is the best song ever written of all time. You just have to be in the right headspace to take it all in. I don’t think I’ve ever felt the same level of emotion towards a song as I do for the fore mentioned. Please please please do that one!! I can’t hold my breath much longer!! Edit: totally hyped me up at the end!! I can’t wait!!!
Thank you for finally ❤️ doing my favorite Nightwish song !!! Can't wait to see how much you love it ....brb...OK, awesome reaction ! So much fun ! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and your time !! And of course your knowledge !!!
I thoroughly enjoy your reaction vids, I'm a bit of a tech geek. I especially like your Nightwish journey. I'm an 80's era metalhead that has finally opened up to newer music over the last few years and cant believe what my closed mindedness caused me to miss. I discovered Nightwish about a year and a half ago. Any one of their songs will be great to do a reaction to, but I'd love to see you go real old school and do "Pharaoh sails to Orion" Live from Wishes to Eternity. Some nice surprises for you (you say you want to see Emppu on a different guitar)
you know what's really crazy? I've seen this band live, without knowing about one song of them. I really enjoyed the show, but it took a few years still to get to the level of appreciation i have now.
A recommendation completely out of left field: Heilung - Alfadhirhaiti, live at Castlefest 2017. Completely different to anything you've reacted to before, with some very... unique gear. Krigsgaldr is their more well-regarded song, but I think you'd enjoy the heaviness that Alfadhirhaiti brings more. You'll absolutely love it.
This song is fantastic. Since I’m late to the party on this one (there’s the final reaction before GSOE already out), I’ll say my picks for after: 1. Dead Boys Poem (Buenos Aires) 2. sleeping Sun Double Reaction (Tarja + Floor) 3. Dark Chest Of Wonders (Wacken) 4. Alpenglow (Wembley) 5. Shudder Before The Beautiful (Wembley) 6. A song of your choosing (not fan recommended) Also great reaction with awesome facts as always

Nightwish - Dark Chest of Wonders (Wacken 2013)

Shudder before the beautiful!! I love the solo between Tuomas and Emppu
Finally, you got here Tank.
This track has the driving song vibe all over it.
"Cant drive 55" lol
Definitely voting for Dead Boys Poem for next Wednesday! Another grest reaction from an awesome reactor. One last thing...when are you and Chase going to do a dual reaction?
Pumped for your week 20 man, you will appreciate The Greatest Show on Earth more than most reactors.
Dead boy’s poem, please, pretty please🥺
About time !!!!! one of my fav's from this set list.... Marko's voice !!!!
Yes I only see the same freaking songs and reactions while the heavier NW songs were skipped at least until now
“Heavier NW songs were skipped at least until now.”
I think my Nightwish playlist would disagree with you.
@@TankTheTech Yeah I know, I meant all the same songs that I usually see from YT reactors.
Yeah Tank! Was my favorite too but there is so many songs 🤘🏼 say it again ” While my lips are still red” with Marco 💄❤️😃
Beauty of the Beast is the BEST Nightwish song EVER
I'd love to see your take on Weak Fantasy from the Tampere set.
you know what's really crazy? I've seen this band live, without knowing about one song of them. I really enjoyed the show, but it took a few years still to get to the level of appreciation i have now.
A recommendation completely out of left field: Heilung - Alfadhirhaiti, live at Castlefest 2017. Completely different to anything you've reacted to before, with some very... unique gear. Krigsgaldr is their more well-regarded song, but I think you'd enjoy the heaviness that Alfadhirhaiti brings more. You'll absolutely love it.
This song is fantastic.
Since I’m late to the party on this one (there’s the final reaction before GSOE already out), I’ll say my picks for after:
1. Dead Boys Poem (Buenos Aires)
2. sleeping Sun Double Reaction (Tarja + Floor)
3. Dark Chest Of Wonders (Wacken)
4. Alpenglow (Wembley)
5. Shudder Before The Beautiful (Wembley)
6. A song of your choosing (not fan recommended)
Also great reaction with awesome facts as always
