You’ve inherited your grandfather’s old farm plot in Stardew Valley. Armed with hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new life. The fact that the guy who singlehandedly designed, programmed and also made the music to this wonderful game couldn't find a job shows how mediocre their interview processes are.

I will tell you one thing. This is the only game in my entire playing history that I have played longest and still play from time to time. But, I am at a point where I have done almost everything and the things that I haven't completed are very very difficult for me (man, the skull cavern). So I don't really know what I would do again in this game

This game is only a few years old but hella nostalgia I used to play this everyday back in 9th grade that was a year I didn’t have many friends and I didn’t go out that much but I just used to run home from school to watch anime and play this game

@@DarcyBlamey you need to throw the stuff you wish to sell on that bin next to your house. Right click the bin and select the items you wish to sell.

I'm playing it now since yesterday, it's sooooo damn good, I love it, I would say as good as Harvest Moon: Back to Nature, wich was my favorite (in PS1)
I know that feeling, I played Back to Nature on PS1 (and on emulators) a TON during my childhood and then later on. This game is like Back to Nature, but much, much better. Has all the things it missed and lots of customization.

+VotingStatue71 :3 There's plenty of Harvest Moon games on handhelds as well. In fact, hands down best HM game of all time is Friends of Mineral Town on the GBA.
+VotingStatue71 :3 Actually, I'm a classic gamer, I've been playing HM since the Snes. My favorite one is the Back to Nature from the Psone. I really liked the Save the Homeland on the PS2, but the new games since those (including the Rune Factory stuff) just felt worse and worse :C . I took a 10 minutre peek at this Animal Parade you mentioned and it felt like a really good choice tho, I might give it a try since my Wii is still working. But yeah, most releases didn't appeal to me, some even looked like they were rushed. Thanks for the tip by the way! [:
Lucas Thadeu I heard from a friend that Story of Seasons is pretty good. It's on the 3DS and isn't published by Natsume because of their split they had with XSeed. That being said, it looks great. After Stardew Valley, that's probably the next farming sim that I'll pick up when I need that itch scratched again.
+Lucas Thadeu I unfortunately haven't played any of the classic HM games, but I've really enjoyed my time with Animal Parade. I like the town design, the farm is a good size, the animals are very cute (a must in any HM game, naturally), I like having a bit of story to give me something to work toward, and AP has some of the best options for eligible mates I've ever seen in a HM game.
My biggest complaint, however, is that I feel the farming is not nearly rewarding enough if you fully invest in it. Even with the most fertile field fertilized to the maximum, I still only got a yield of about 10-12% best-grade crops. The majority are still going to be low-grade or second-worst (I think my calculations were that these two together equaled about 60% of the total field yield). Given how time-consuming (and resource/money intensive) it was to get that large field to that point (I want to say the field I was using was 200 squares, each square requiring 5 fertilizers for maximum fertility), I personally felt it wasn't enough incentive to really encourage farming. This issue is actually present with ranch products, as well (wool, cheese, etc.), but this wasn't as much of an issue for me personally because my focus was on farming as a source of income. I muuuuch preferred the Mineral Town system where, once you gained enough affection for animals, you could only get the higher- or highest-grade items.

Well, a year after your original post, it's finally here. At least on PC. It's coming to the Switch version soon and then PS4 and Xbox 1 after that.
This looks so packed with content. Only heard about it today! Good to see that there are companies that believe in releasing a fully finished game. No alpha rubbish.

+Revman101 Technically it is not quite finished. They were wanting to release the full game with working multiplayer but people were getting restless so he is releasing it without multiplayer ready yet. But besides that the single player mode is completely finished :)

It's essentially finished. Now that it's out, it definitely exceeded my expectations. Multiplayer now seems like an expansion with all that's already in it.

It looks like it has the right features but the graphics are a little too primitive for me.
I play games like Witcher 3 and Rise of the Tomb Raider back-to-back with this game and the 2d graphics still look great. But then again, I think games like Super Mario World still look great too.

I just went back and traveled through all of the demos he posted and, well, *this* is Stardew Valley. It has been amazing seeing this game change and evolve over the course of development, and I'm so glad to have been blessed by this beautiful game.

It's so amazing to see this trailer to the older original trailer. Shows how much time and effort concerned ape put it into it. And beyond, 5 years later with superb updates.

I remember getting this on Christmas eve and playing it immediately and only getting a few hours of sleep and spending the next few days playing this game non-stop. the npcs just make the game even better and I just love their dialouge and different cutscenes and the music is amazing and the fact that one single person created this game just makes it even more amazing. good job man!!
This game changed my life, it made me love exploring and get me into farm as well. This is so person on the switch too. Being able to play it on breaks or in my bed relaxing!

It’s multiplayer ?
It's almost been 2 years, and this trailer and the accompanying music still makes me feel incredible. I was going through a really tough time when this game was about to come out, and it seemed like this was the only thing I could look forward to. The day this game came out was one of the best days in my gaming career. I've never had a game climb to my favourites list so quickly, but Stardew did it within hours. I was addicted to it then, and I still play it every now and then today. I know when the new content update comes out, I'm going to be sucked in all over again. Thank you ConcernedApe, for making Stardew Valley one of my most treasured gaming experiences, and one that helped me get through some of my worst times.

I just feel pure love for this masterpiece in gaming history.
This game is truly one of the best, I’ve been playing it since my friend told me to get it at the start of quarantine and I’m so glad I did. I’ve played it to full completion before the 1.5 update at least twice and I love it so much, if you’re considering getting this game, you definitely should, it’s so peaceful and yet has elements of fighting in it too
