If you’re watching this, you’ll most likely know who Ichika Nito is: if not, he’s one of the 21st century’s best guitar players, showcasing dazzling technique and mastery of the instrument alongside an ear that’s adept at creating instantly memorable melodies.
He’s an expert at sumptuous clean tones and a more than capable shredder who covers myriad styles, from pop and neo soul to heavy metal - sometimes in the space of a 60-second video!
This is Ichika’s second signature Ibanez too, after the headless ICHI10: thmn.to/thoprod/523689?offid=...
But the ICHI00 is going to appeal to more than just Ichika Nito fans. In fact, on paper it looks like an incredible buy for anyone who’s into either offset guitars or Stratocaster-type models. It’s based around Ibanez’s cult offset Talman body shape, and it’s packed full of goodness. You get a Vintage White finish over a nyatoh body, and three ICHI-S custom single coil pickups - designed by Ichika Nito himself and Ibanez to perfectly nail the “Ichika sound” - alongside an Ibanez T106 vibrato bridge.
The Wizard C-shaped neck is roasted maple, with a 12” radius rosewood fingerboard housing 22 medium frets. The scale length is 25.5”, the nut is 41mm, and you even get a set of Gotoh MG-T locking tuners.
And the price for all of this? At time of writing: $699/€699/£449. Which, as I’m sure you’ll agree, is very decent bang for the buck. So, just how good is the ICHI00? That’s what we’re about to find out! In this video, I put the guitar through its paces in as many different genres and styles as I can, from country, folk and indie, to pop, rock, punk, metal and more. Let’s see how it handles it all!

29:41 My conclusions on the ICHI00 and why you should buy it
My setup was as follows: I ran the ICHI00 into my Hughes & Kettner Black Spirit 200 head, also using my Greer Lightspeed and my Revv G3 pedals for overdrive and heavy distortion sounds. The amp went from the Red Box DI straight into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, which went into Logic Pro X. That's it. No post-processing on the sounds was done.

😂
Ahahaha yes i’m ICHI-ing to go to these timestamps, I ‘Nito’ have a look at them. Really good review thankd man, this will be my first guitar and as a pianist it’s the most fitting one I think

Three of my favorites...
Like the thorough review from every aspect, great job ❤
One of the most beautiful guitars ever made by Ibanez! The sound is good and it's very comfortable to play
Yep, it's a lovely guitar, and I agree that it's very comfy as well - the overall design is fantastic! I hope more people discover this guitar, and not just Ichika fans, because it's great for them but also for others too!
We meet again lol I must claim all info on ichika nito lol
@@gunthor7495 hi😉
I really enjoyed this video on the Ibanez! My style of playing so it resonates with me. 👍
This demo is really good 👍🏻
Awesome demo, I love that you demo so many different styles and riffs.
I bought this one a couple of months ago after stumbling upon it in the music store. And I agree with your recommedation, its a beautiful guitar that plays beautiful. It's super comfy and personally, I really like the ichika single coils.
Also, I just discovered your channel, and you just got a new subscriber. 😊
Thanks so much, really happy you found my channel, enjoyed the vid and gave me a sub! I genuinely appreciate it :)
And yes, this was a chance discovery for me too, and I am super impressed with it. It's super versatile and like I say in the video, made for every type of guitar player and not just Ichika super fans... although of course they will love it too :) Enjoy yours and rock on!
Ibanez is making great guitars and I'm always happy with the high quality and the playability every time I play one of these guitars. I still have my old Roadstar II from the 80th...now with some modifications and I love it. This ICHI00 sounds great and I like the pickups that gives you a lot of possibilities. For about 700€ it's a really good guitar. I also like the look of this guitar, it's not simply another stratocaster, it has its own character. Thank you for this very good and detailed video. You're making a great job. 🤘
That kid doesn’t mess around his playing is ridiculous! Another monster player. It hurts my head just watching him play.
Yeah, he's a beast... when I saw him doing some stuff live at NAMM 2022 (he was just hanging out a bit on the Ibanez booth) it was just insanely good! I love the music but learning to play even 5 seconds of one of his compositions is beyond me :)
@@RichWordsMusic yeah I’ll stick with just trying to chicken pick better , his awesomeness is far beyond my capabilities. Even with using the Force 😂
@@PooNinja Ha ha, me too! Pretty sure Ichika has some kind of Force thing going on!
Now this is quality content! Great way of reviewing a guitar! You got a new subscriber!
Thanks David, really glad you liked the video and I appreciate the sub 🙏 Lots more similar reviews on my channel. Cheers and rock on!
Really interesting review ! Thanks for sharing ! New subscriber.
Thanks a lot, glad you enjoyed the video and cheers for the sub! Welcome along :)
Finally an in-depth Demo - THX for that 👌🏻
Love the Talman body shape - hate the ST shape🙈😅 So for a SSS PU config, this is my way to go. Seems like Ibanez build the butt (body/bridge) out of GIO and upper section (neck/tuners) out of Prestige.
What about the fretwork, feels good? Years ago the Indonesian fretwork wasn’t acceptable…
Cheers from Germany
I really like the look and specifications of this guitar. Super detailed and comprehensive review, as usual. The lighting is a bit off today though. Rather murky for my aging eyes. I suppose one is meant to close one's eyes and just listen!
Yep, it's a really good guitar for the money! And yes, just listen ;) But you're on to something for sure - I have a big window in my room and rely quite a bit on the natural light for my videos... it was a bad weather day when I filmed this one, and it shows to those who know :) I really do need to invest in some better lighting! Cheers and rock on!
Great video man, this is the most in depth review. I like all the different riffs you used. What was the chord progression in the “indie octave” progression. Super catchy.
Thanks a lot man, glad you enjoyed it! I try and get at least one riff in for everyone who watches :) So only Ichika fans might've been disappointed ;) That indie octave riff is just one of mine. Not consciously taken from anywhere else, at least! Cheers and rock on!
@@RichWordsMusicDo you mind sharing the chord progression?
You had me at 17:43! 🙂🤘
The G3 makes Eryting AWESOME! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Oh yeah 😎 The G3 will turn any guitar rig into a snarling beast!
It is the only new guitar that got my serious attention. I have been looking for a good used one for at least 6 years but the prices are prohibitive.
I love the sound of a Strat but hate the body because there are literally and I do not exaggerate to be sarcastic at least one million plus on the planet. I would put in a set of classic Strat PU's as I am all about extreme chime not output in my Strat taste. I never use as much gain as it obscures the chime even on the lower end of the bass strings.
The other great thing about this guitar is other styles will come and go but this will keep its cool factor thru the endless fads that come and go. I give it 11 out of 10 😇 Cool now, cool forever!!!
My Ibanez Blazer 1981 Mij has similar tones🤙🤙
I'd love to try one of those!
Just got one of of these. And boy is it heavy. Would put old gibbys to shame. Got to be 15lbs. Great guitar and sustain is nuts. But my leg hurts 🙃
How heavy?! Yeah, that'd put me off too 😅 It's otherwise a great guitar... can you maybe swap yours out with the store for a more reasonably weighted one?
👍🏻👍🏻
Cheers my friend!
Rich, I'd like to get your opinion on something - I've been considering getting either the ICHI00 or a Fender Player Strat (white, maple fretboard). Now, I know the differences in specs, especially in terms of the alnico vs ceramic pickups and fretboard radii, but what do you think would be the bigger bang for the buck? Much appreciated.
Hey there! Good question. In my opinion, they're similar in that context... of course, the Fender would have better resale value if you ever decided to sell it, but that's purely a branding thing. And you're not buying to sell anyway, you're buying to play and enjoy!
But my other thought is that - if you can - try them both first. The biggest difference is going to be in the tones. The ICHI00 is going to be a more modern, pristine sounding guitar than the Fender... so that could be something that sways you. Hope this helps a bit, and let me know which one you end up going for!
@@RichWordsMusic Rich, thanks for the reply and your valuable input. I'm gonna try the Strat definitely, but there's no ICHI00 anywhere in my country. So I guess my decision will be partly based on yours and a couple of other videos. I'll most certainly let you know. Thanks, man!
is the guitar shielded yet ?
would the revstar standard be a better overall guitar?
In my opinion, and for the kind of music I play, I'd pick the Revstar, yes. (I have the Revstar Standard with the P90s, but I love the humbucker one too!). The one reason I'd go for the ICHI over the Revstars is if I absolutely needed the trem and genuine single coil tones... which I don't in this case (my Tele does those sounds and I'm not really a vibrato man!). In terms of quality and fixtures, I prefer the Revstar Standard, but the ICHI is really well made too. Hope this helps!
Does it come with a tremolo bar included in the packaging?
It does, yes!
Yes, it does!
Are those Nickel or SS frets?
I am 99% sure they're nickel because Ibanez doesn't state anywhere that they're Stainless Steel (and this is definitely a feature they would shout about if it were the case!).
@@RichWordsMusic cool! Thanks for the reply man :)
DEAR Rich please tell us is this guitar lighter than average stratocaster thank you so much
Hmm, well this one's 3.4 kgs... it's going to be close ;) Some Strats will be less, some more!
@@RichWordsMusic thank you so much 💓
Did my comment really get deleted??
Well, not by me! But this is the only one I can see from you... what did you say before?
It was my thoughts on the guitar and they were exceptionally positive other than one niggle. Maybe in my ageing and addled mind I left it in the wrong place or indeed dreamt it...nothing would surprise me these days mate so no worries haha!
Pickups sound all the same and guitar misses any kind of "body", i think. no warm tones at all, just good for funky riffs...?
I know what you mean - it's definitely a guitar that excels at cleans and funky stuff, as befits Ichika Nito I suppose. It is very versatile with heavier overdrive too, but I'd pick other guitars over this one for those styles of music. (It's generally the same with Strats for me, actually, and I find this guitar to be pretty Stratty overall.)
